    John81,
You are entirely correct in your reasoning why people, (good Christian folk), are turned off studying the Book of Revelation. So many people do turn a deaf ear due to a lot of "teachers" that try and fit every bit of news into prophecy that it is destroying a true and sincere study of Revelation. Sometimes these "teachers" sensationalize the news and apply every odd peice of news for money (to sell their materials), and the desire for religious recognition (fame).  I have tried to steer away from this style of teaching.
Also, thank you for quoting 1 Thessalonians 3:12 and 13. It is applicable and a blessing to me and I am sure to all of the brethren.
    Covenanter,
I do not have an answer nor do I think it wise (nor appropriate), for me to try to discover an answer.
    Brethren,
I sincerely hope that the study of Revelation chapter 19-22 thus far has been a blessing and an encouragement to all of you. Even though sometimes good brethren disagree on some of the prophecies involved I believe that it is for our good to sift through all of the material available and realize that the end time events prophesied in the Old Testament prophets and the fulfullment written therein the Book of Revelation is for our benefit. I also appreciate the fine spirit of discussion among the brethren and hope as we finish the last weeks studies our understanding of the end time events will increase and our discussions will be fruitful.

    1. Concerning a trumpet will sound.
1 Thessalonians 4:16b says, "... and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:"
    2. Concerning the Lord Jesus calling us by name.
The Lord Jesus, our shepherd, said, "To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice; and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out." John 10:3
Furthermore, the Lord Jesus continued His discourse by plainly saying, "And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd." John 10:16
The Lord Jesus knows my personal name, and the personal name of every sheep in His pasture. When my Shepherd, my Friend, calls me home, by death or by the Rapture, the Lord Jesus will call me by my name.
In John 11 we have the great resurrection discourse of the Lord Jesus. In this great discourse of the resurrection of the dead saints we find that Lazarus is called a friend by the Lord Jesus. "These things said he: and after that he saith unto them, Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep." John 11:11
Jesus plainly stated in John 11:25, "Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live." John 11 and the raising of Lazarus is a picture, a type of, and an example of the  Lord Jesus calling His sleeping (dead), saints out of the grave as taught by Paul the Apostle in 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18. When the Lord Jesus called Lazarus out of the grave ( a type of the coming of the Lord Jesus for His Bride, the Church), He called Lazarus by his own, personal name; "Lazarus, come forth." John 11:43. Glory Hallelujah! Praise the Holy name of Jesus!
    A Sad Note.
I personally feel sorry for those saints who believe that the Lord Jesus will not call them by their name when He comes again. If a saint does not want to believe that the Lord will call him by name when he comes; I will not argue nor debate the issue. It is not a doctrine that brethren should verbally debate over. It is every saints perogative to either believe it or not. But, to me, I find a great comfort in knowing that the Lord Jesus knows me, and will call me by my name when He comes to take me out of this sin cursed world.
    Enoch Genesis 6:21-24 and Hebrews11:5
    and God's other Friends.
Let us consider Enoch for another example. Enoch is a type, or an example of, the saints who will be alive as Paul the Apostle taught when the Lord Jesus comes to take His Bride home in the Rapture. Enoch walked with God. Enoch was a friend of God like Abraham was a friend of God. God called Abram by his first name and then  changed it to Abraham. God calls all of His friends, and saints, by name. Please see Genesis 22:1 Moses in Exodus 3:4 and Samuel in 1 Samuel 3:10; et tal. God even had His angels call  backsliden Lot by his own name: Genesis 19:5
The Lord Jesus - Our Friend.
The Lord Jesus is my Friend and the Friend of every saint. Like the Father, the Lord Jesus calls His friends by name.   "Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you." John 15:15 The Lord Jesus, (as God calls His friends by name), calls His friends by name. When one individual has a close relationship with another individual they call each other friends. Is that not true?
    Special Friend Note.
Remember the story of the Rich Man and Lazarus in Luke 16:19-31? Have you ever thought why the Lord Jesus mentioned Lazarus by name but did not mention the rich man by name? Lazarus was an Old Testament saint and a friend of God. Therefore, the Lord Jesus called Lazarus by name. The rich man? He never trusted in God and therefore not a friend. So, the Lord Jesus did not call him as a friend. I understand that the Lord Jesus is a friend of sinners; but, they are not friends in the sense of a close relationship.
I hope that the above examples will help you in your walk with Christ. And, that you will find comfort in the fact that one day, hopefully today, when the Lord Jesus comes, you will hear the Lord Jesus call your name and then say, "Come up hither!"

As I said a couple of times previously, and as DaveW wrote, the scriptures plainly state that the Lord Jesus comes back as a, "thief." A thief comes in total secrecy and only until he has left with the valuables does any body know he was there.  Thank you DaveW.
As I wrote previoulsy, in 2 Thessalonians 2:11 states, "And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie."
In order to explain the disappearance (in the Rapture), the Anti-Christ will lie to the peoples of this earth why millions of people disapprered. The peoples of this world will believe the lie of the Anti-Christ. The Rapture, even after it occurs, will be a secret from the peoples of this world. God will allow the lie to be believed due to the ungodly sins of the peoples of this world.

You have misrepresented what he has said.
He has explained a little more - his point of it being a secret coming is correct, although I think he has been short of the full conclusion.
As a thief, there is no prior warning - he comes secretly. No thief announces his arrival.
But when he has completed his task, it is no longer secret.
If you disagree with his premise that only saints will hear his shout, then show it by Scripture.
But after He has come for His saints, there is no way it will remain secret. This is implied in Alan's statement, but not clearly stated.
It must however be true, for there is no way that the saints all being removed from Earth at the same time would go unnoticed.
There is absolutely no statement, overt nor implied, that the shout will be a whisper. This is a misrepresentation.
  5. Thanks
Ronda reacted to Alan in Revelation chapter 19-22 Study.
DaveW is correct and the scriptures are very clear. When the trumpet from  the archangel sounds only, may I repeat ,only, the saints will be able to hear. The Lord Jesus will first call the dead saints by their own personal name, exactly like Lazarus, and then the Lord Jesus will personally call every living saint by name, and we shall rise to meet the Lord Jesus in the clouds. All of this will be accomplished in the twinkling of the eye. The twinkling of the eye takes less than one second. I can find no scripture that say, or even indicates, that any of the lost peoples of the world will hear the sound of the trumpet of the archangel.
    John81 and Mountain Christian,
I do not know what these strange sounds coming the sky are coming from.  I have heard of them in the news and I want to thank both of you for bringing them to the attention of everybody. I cannot perceive how these strange sounds can be related to the trumpets of the archangel of God. I am sure that some of our Charismatic brethren will try and relate them to scripture. But, I will not. Maybe one of these days some scientist will be able to explain them.

The shout is for the believers only. The world does not hear the shout nor the trump of God for the dead saints to rise and the living saints to rise.
    As I brought out previously:
    1. As a thief, the Lord Jesus takes His jewels and leaves, the lost peoples of the world do not know what happened.
    2. The Anti-Christ will tell the world a lie to explain away the rapture; 2 Thessalonians 2:11, "And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:"
    3. Until we hear the actual shout and trumpet it will be secret even to the Christian: "Known unto God only."
    4.   The coming of Christ in 1 Thessalonians is a great comfort.
    5. According to Paul, no horses, nor army, are mentioned in 1 Thessalonnians 4:13-18 as it is not a military action.
    6. The coming of the Lord in Revelation 1:7 and 19:11-21 is witnessed by the whole world and the whole world  and His coming is a military action to destroy His enemies.
    7. There is no rising of the dead in Revelation 1:7 and 19:11-21. In fact, the world mourns. There is no comfort.
    8. There are not trumpets mentioned, nor shouts, in Revelation 1:7 and 19:11-21
In conclusion, the coming of the Lord Jesus in 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 is only for the dead and living saints only, it is in secret, and is different in time, actions, scope, and purpose from the coming of the Lord Jesus in Revelation 1:7 and 19:11-21
I am waiting for the trumpet to blow and the shout to rise! It may come today, tomorrow or the next year.

    Revelation 19:1-6 “The Hallelujah Chorus.”
Verse 1, “And after these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven, saying, Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God:
Verse 2 For true and righteous are his judgments: for he hath judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand.
Verse 3 And again they said, Alleluia. And her smoke rose up for ever and ever.
Verse 4 And the four and twenty elders and the four beasts fell down and worshipped God that sat on the throne, saying, amen; Alleluia.
Verse 5 and a voice came out of the throne, saying, Praise our God, all ye his servants, and ye that fear him, both small and great.
Verse 6 And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.”
“Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God:” Psalm 29 is one of the finest Psalms dealing with giving God the glory for all things: in this life and in eternity. Psalm 29:2, “Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.”
Praise the Lord! There is going to be a lot of rejoicing and praise God in heaven! If you are not a shoutin’ Baptist down here on earth; you will be one in heaven! All, glory, praise, honour and power belongs to God Almighty!
“...true and righteous are his judgments...” All of God’s judgments are true, right, just and eternal. Psalm 119:160, “Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever.”
“... for he hath judged the great whore...” In Jeremiah 3, Ezekiel 16 and the prophet Hosea we understand that this is referring to spiritual adultery. When the nation of Israel departed from God, her husband, and committed idolatry, and forsook the commandments of God and defiled His Temple: they committed spiritual adultery.
In the Church Age this is a reference to the Roman Catholic Church, and the various denominations of Christianity, that comprise the religious and political whore of Revelation chapter 17 and 18. “And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH” Revelation17:5
The Roman Catholic Church has a mixture of true and false doctrines, pagan ceremonies and Christian ideals, it claims to be ‘Christian,’ and the, ‘only true church.’ But, it is full of corrupting doctrines and practices designed to fool the saint and the religious sinner.
“...which did corrupt the earth with her fornication...” The Roman Catholic Church, and the various other Christian denominations that have compromised the true doctrines of the scriptures, have corrupted the earth. Every new version of the scriptures from the Revised Version of 1881 is a corrupt bible. Every false doctrine in any church, cult, pagan temple, has a corrupting influence in the earth.
“...the blood of his servants at her hand.” Throughout the Church Age the Roman Catholic Church has martyred untold thousands of saints. Please study and read, “Fox’s Book of Martyrs.”
“...And her smoke rose up for ever and ever.” The end result of the corrupt church, and her minions, is eternity in hell. Psalm 119:160, “Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever.”
“... amen; Alleluia.” Amen and Hallelujah! Heaven is place of eternal rejoicing.
“... for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.” God sits on His throne in heaven and He reigns forever! God is omnipotent. He will accomplish His will in His timing and His way.

Introduction to Revelation 19:11-22. The Lord Jesus is coming back to this earth to rule and reign. This return was foretold by the Lord Jesus, and depicted, in Revelation 1:7, “Behold he cometh with clouds, and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindred’s of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.”
Revelation 19:11-16, “KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.”
Verse 11, And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
Verse 12, His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.
Verse 13, And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.
Verse 14, And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.
Verse 15, And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.
Verse 16, And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.”
Context of His Coming as “KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.”
Revelation chapter 1-3, “The Secret Coming or The Rapture.”
The Second Coming of the Lord Jesus as, “KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS,” is not the secret coming of the Lord for the church, commonly, and hereafter called, “the Rapture.”
At the Rapture, 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 Jesus will came secretly (as a thief), without any armies. And He came only to the clouds, and will came to take the church, His bride, into heaven in order for the church to escape the Tribulation Period. The, Great Tribulation Period is a time of, “WRATH.” The wrath of God is poured out upon the face of the earth. And, in connection with the coming of the Lord Jesus to take away the church we have a precious promise that the church will not go through the time of the wrath of God upon this earth. 1 Thessalonians 5:9, “For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ.” The direct context, 1 Thessalonians 4:11 through chapter 5 verse 11, is the coming of the Lord Jesus. The context is not the salvation of the soul but salvation from ‘wrath.’
There are two types of tribulation in the scriptures. One type of tribulation is the persecution by the world by all saints, in every age, in every country, for following the Lord. The second type tribulation is the ‘tribulation’ of the Jews, by the entire world, in Revelation chapter 6-18.
In Revelation 2:9 and 10, for example, we see the first type of tribulation; persecution.
In Revelation 3:10, in a great promise given not only to the church at Philadelphia, but to all of the churches, the Lord Jesus personally said He would keep them from the, ‘…hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.’ Revelation 3:10. The ‘hour of temptation’ is the Tribulation Period.
The Church Age ended in Revelation 3:22 and the ‘Rapture,’ occurred in Revelation 4:1
Revelation chapter 4 & 5, “The Throne & the Lamb.”
Revelation chapter 6-18, “The Tribulation Period or Time of Jacob’s Trouble.”
Jeremiah chapter 31. Jeremiah 31:7 and 24 specifically states that this prophesy is for the end times. “Alas! for the day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob’s trouble; but he shall be saved out of it. The fierce anger of the LORD shall return, until he he hath done it, and until he hath performed the intents of his heart: in the latter days ye shall consider it.”
During this time the prophecy of the Lord Jesus in Matthew 24:14, 15, 21 and 22 will be fulfilled. The ‘elect’ that the Lord Jesus refers to in Matthew 24: 22 and 24 is clearly a direct reference to the nation of Israel.
    Special Note:
Revelation 6:12-17, “Sixth Seal,” and 14:14-20, “Sharp Sickle.”
Describes the Events of Revelation 19:11-22
Revelation 19:11-16, “The Battle of Armageddon.”
“…in righteousness he doth judge and make war.”
The Lord Jesus comes back to the earth to take possession as a conquering King. He takes possession of the earth by war. Joel 3:9-17 is a prophecy of this Great War. This is when the earth and the heavens will ‘shake’ as prophesied by Joel and Haggai.
Joel 3:16, “The LORD shall also roar out of Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall shake: but the LORD will be the hope of his people, and the strength of the children of Israel.”
Haggai 2:6, “For thus saith the LORD of hosts; Yet once, it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land.” See Haggai 20-23 and Hebrews 12:6. The events, people involved, nations involved, and time elements concerning the Battle of Armageddon that Haggai prophesied are all literal and not allegorical.
“…and on his head were many crowns; …
During His ministry the Lord Jesus was crowned with a, ‘crown of thorns.’ In Hebrews 2:7 and 9 the Lord Jesus was crowned with, ‘glory and honor,’ and in heaven He will be crowned, ‘KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS’
“And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood.”
Isaiah 34:1-8 is a vivid description of this event. Isaiah 34: 4 & 6, “And all the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll: and all the host shall fall down, as a leaf falleth off the vine, and as a falling fig from the fig tree. … The sword of the LORD is filled with blood, it is made fat with fatness, and with the blood of lambs and goats, with the fat of the kidneys of rams: for the LORD hath a sacrifice in Bozrah, and a great slaughter in the land of Idumea.”
“And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen…”
This is a direct reference to the Church Age saints, the Bride, as discussed in Revelation 19:7-9. It is also the fulfillment of the promise given to the church at Thyatira, and to all of the churches, in Revelation 2:27. Please study Jude 14 & 15
In 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 the Lord Jesus returns to the clouds, not to the earth, ‘for’ His saints. In Revelation 19:11-22 the Lord Jesus comes to the earth, not just the clouds, ‘with’ his saints. It is very obvious that the two comings are separate events and no amount of convoluted ‘private,’ interpretation can reconcile the two events into one event.
To be a soldier in this army (2 Timothy 2:3), you need to take up your cross and follow Jesus. ‘No Cross – No Crown’, 2 Timothy 2:12 For those saints who are not willing fight the fight of faith, to be a good soldier for Jesus, and are ‘faint hearted,’ you may be excused from the Lord’s army. “And the officers shall speak further unto the people, and they shall say, What man is there that is fearful and fainthearted? let him go and return unto his house, lest his brethren’s heart faint as well as his heart.” Deuteronomy 20:8
“…and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: …”
Psalm 2:8 & 9 will be fulfilled at this juncture, “Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession. Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.”
Paul also prophesied of this time in Hebrews 10:13, “From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.” In Hebrews 10: 16 this prophecy is part of the, ‘covenant’ with God. God will keep His covenant’s; including the giving of the earth to the Lord Jesus as, ‘KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS,’ over the whole earth.
“…and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.”
This is a fulfillment of Isaiah11:4b and verse 5 and 63:1-6 “…and all kindred’s of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.” Revelation 1:7. Due to the unbelief, hatred, sin, ungodliness, idolatry, wickedness of the nations of the earth, and the Rejection of His Son, the Wrath and Fierceness of God is being poured out upon all of the nations of the earth by the Lord Jesus Christ. For an explanation God’s thinking on the sinful way of man please go back to Jude 14 & 15. This is also a fulfillment, among other prophesies, of Micah 4:11-13, Joel 3:9-16, Zechariah 14:1-4 and Psalm 149:6-9.
“…KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.”
Glory Hallelujah! The Lord Jesus is coming back to the earth as King! This is in fulfillment of the prophecy of Zechariah 14:9, “And the LORD shall be King over all the earth: in that day shall there be one LORD, and his name one.”

    Rosie,
Yes, in the last days perilous times will come.
One of the great things in studying the book of Revelation is that we know every Christian has trials and tribulations, but, every Christian is spared from going through the great 7 Year Tribulation Period on the the earth.
Therefore, Paul gave us this word of comfort, "For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ." 1 Thessalonians 5:9. The context proves that the, 'wrath,' Paul was referring was the 7 Year Tribulation Period. And that the, 'salvation,' Paul was referring to was the deliverance, through the rapture, in order to escape the time of God's wrath on the earth.
Also, please find comfort in the promise in Revelation 3:10, "Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth." The, 'hour of temptation,' is the 7 Year Tribulation period. Event though the church may go through some extreme times of trials leading up to the 7 Year Tribulation Period we can find comfort in the knowledge that the Lord Jesus will take us home in the Rapture just preceding the awful time of judgment on the earth.

Hello all!  I'm new here, just joined a few minutes ago.  I don't know if I will be posting many things or not yet... but I have been blessed already by reading some discussions here.  I am a 48 yr old female who loves the Lord and have been raised from birth in the fundamental independent Baptist church.  I can no longer physically "go" to church because I have multiple sclerosis (progressive),but I am blessed to have access to a computer at home.  I found this site by searching for Baptist sites online.  I've found a few with great webcast sermons and have enjoyed them immensely!  I hope to find fellow Christians to converse with and to continually grow in Jesus and His words.  God bless you all for having this wonderful site!
