  1. Brother Invicta, I wonder what that preacher would have to say about Jeremiah 31:35-36? 35 Thus saith the Lord, which giveth the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divideth the sea when the waves thereof roar; The Lord of hosts is his name: 36 If those ordinances depart from before me, saith the Lord, then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever. Sorry, brother, but I haven't yet seen the sun YET depart, nor the moon and stars depart... have you? What about Revelation 12:6 and Rev.12:14? Whom would you suppose "that preacher" would have thought those were? Rev.12:6 " And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days." Rev.12:14 "And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent." And if God's word is speaking of Israel (which I believe it is), then how is it that Israel wouldn't be present in the millennium? Why also would God's word describe so much detail about that time period written about in much of the OT... Here is just ONE chapter (of many) dealing with the millennium: Zech.8 (all of the chapter, but I will only quote 2 verses here since you are likely familiar with it) Verses 22-23 22 Yea, many people and strong nations shall come to seek the Lord of hosts in Jerusalem, and to pray before the Lord. 23 Thus saith the Lord of hosts; In those days it shall come to pass, that ten men shall take hold out of all languages of the nations, even shall take hold of the skirt of him that is a Jew, saying, We will go with you: for we have heard that God is with you. I wonder why God's word is so very specific, down to the detail of the "skirt of him that is a Jew"... IF He supposedly didn't actually MEAN "a Jew"? Instead of being snarky, I won't pretend any longer to wonder what "that preacher" would have to say about those specific verses, I will come right out and ask YOU what you think? Has the sun, moon, and stars departed yet? If so, when? and if the Lord didn't actually MEAN "the skirt of him that is a Jew" Why would He have been so very specific about the term "a Jew"?
  2. I have been away for a while, so forgive me for popping in abruptly. But I felt the need to make a correction here; "allah" is NOT God. He is the "god" of islam. Ask any muslim and they will tell you that "allah has no son". The One true God... the God of Abraham ,Isaac, and Jacob, the God who created all things, the Alpha and Omega, the omnipotent and omniscient God the Father DOES INDEED have a Son... His only BEGOTTEN Son, Christ Jesus. Therefore the "god" they call "allah" is not at all the same God I worship. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sorry for disrupting your thread, brother Alan. I am just now reading and catching up some... an excellent thread on the topic. I must also say that we knew where the US was headed under the past democrat administration, and it was NOT in the direction of Christian rights and freedoms. While President Trump is not a perfect man (none are), he DOES stand for the constitution, Christian freedoms, he has avowed to be a friend to Israel, and it could very well be that the Lord has given us a reprieve to give the gospel to the lost in these last days. Had the left won, there is little doubt in my mind that we would have seen even MORE loss of freedoms, and MORE trampling of the constitution than we already have. Censorship from the left is on the rise... I can attest to being banned for 24 hours on facebook for sharing a Bible verse (Isaiah 5:20, ironically). Other sisters in Christ have ALSO been given bans for sharing either sermon videos or scripture as well. The media (including social media) in the US are predominantly owned by the left. They want to shut free speech down and control the narrative in the hopes that they will again win the presidency in 2020. The President is correct in calling the media out for their bias and complete censorship of all things conservative as well as Christian. For that reason I pray in thankfulness to the Lord that He has given us this reprieve, however short it may end up being, to share the gospel freely in public. I also pray for our president every day, as scripture tells us to: 1 Tim. 2:1-4 1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; 2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; 4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. Maranatha!
  3. Thank you, brother Alan. I do hope you and your family are doing well. You are well aware of the limitations in other nations regarding the sharing of the gospel, as you deal with it every day. The issue of censorship here in the US is not something most people are even aware of... if they are, they aren't discussing it and the ramifications. Sadly, some won't realize it's happening until AFTER they've lost their freedom to share the gospel in public. I felt compelled to speak out. I do hope it will spur some on to share the gospel while we have time... however short that time may be. Maranatha!
  4. Giving the Gospel / Are You Ashamed of Christ? I had intended on writing a SHORT encouraging note to others about sharing the gospel. That truly was my main intent prior to setting about to type some thoughts and copy corresponding scripture down... But as often happens, the Lord put something else on my heart. I recently had a discussion with a fellow believer who admitted that he or she rarely shared the gospel with others. Since the conversation was somewhat recent, it may be why the Lord put it on my heart, BUT I think it may well be that it wasn't this person (in particular) but someone else (unknown to me whom) and perhaps ALL of us that could benefit by serious consideration of the following 2 questions (and why the Lord put it on my heart to bring this forward HERE today, I am not sure, but felt compelled to do so). The 2 questions I am asking each one of us to consider today are these: #1. Do you share the gospel with others? #2. Are you ashamed of Christ? Most of us here (at least those whom I've come to know somewhat) would likely answer the questions with an emphatic "YES, I share the gospel", and "NO, I am not ashamed of the Lord". But I'd like to ask you all to take time to delve deep into those answers and see if we ALL couldn't improve? I'd like to first address any who would be brave enough to admit (even if only to themselves) that they do NOT often share the gospel with others... and ask them Why not? (And I am not asking for anyone here to come forth to admit they do not, nor give a reason, nor am I singling out anyone in particular... just asking them to please read and consider these things I am writing) In another group I heard many (anonymous) responses to that question (of why they do not regularly share the gospel) with the following answers: A. I am shy or uncomfortable sharing the gospel B. I don't know how to start the conversation C. I don't know scripture well enough to show (or tell) another person the gospel D. I could lose my job if I did E. It starts arguments in the family when I've tried before F. I would be ridiculed or mocked G. No-one listens anyways H. It's not socially acceptable, there is a time and place for that kind of thing I. I leave that up to others (for varying reasons) J. I don't have time K. No one has ever asked me L. I'm not a proficient speaker M. I worry about what others might think of me N. I am a coward There are likely hundreds of other answer such as these, but do we recognize they are all EXCUSES??? Yes, if you have never shared the gospel before it can seem daunting and be uncomfortable (at first). But is that really a good excuse? Just like everything, the more you do something, the more proficient you become at it, the less stressful or intimidated you will feel. As for those who answer "I don't know scripture well enough"... there is a remedy for that! Only you can determine to study God's word and remedy your ignorance of it... asking prayerfully for Him to lead and guide. There is another reason which we ALL need to examine ourselves about... We need to question ourselves truthfully and ask: Are we ashamed of Christ? Even for those whom have answered "YES, I share the gospel with others", I would like to ask you also to consider this question as well... Do we find that at times we don't share the gospel because we are worried more about what mankind thinks rather than serving the Lord? Are we worried that it could cause familial rifts? Cost us social standing? Be passed up for promotion? Possibly even lose a job? Either way there is a pattern I have noticed among some believers today. A pattern of shame. I wonder how many recognize that with knowing the gospel comes a responsibility to SHARE the gospel with others? I also wonder if many of us are waiting around for SOMEONE ELSE to share the gospel with our loved ones??? I've seen many a prayer request (on other venues) for an unsaved family member, but when asked it they themselves have shared the gospel with that loved one the response is often some hemming and hawing, and an admission of "NO", they have not. The excuse most often given is "it never seems to be the right time". I'd like to note that it is ALWAYS the right time to share the gospel. No-one is promised tomorrow... if that unsaved loved one were to die today and YOU didn't share the gospel with them... how will answer the Lord? Will you then make more excuses as to why you didn't share the gospel? Do you think HE will accept them? Some serious questions we need to each ask ourselves... and if you are waiting for an opportune time, might I suggest NOW. " Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?" "Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame." "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek." "And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us." "As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed." "For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed." " For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day." "According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death." "Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God; Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began" There is more scripture to draw from regarding this topic. But I wonder if we couldn't ALL do better insharing the gospel. I can attest to the fact that both Christians and conservatives are being censored on Facebook and other social media platforms. Over the last year I have felt compelled to share the gospel there where it is needed most. I was recently banned on facebook for 24 hours for quoting (ironically). The very next week I was given a 72 hour ban (which only lasted 24 hours???) with no real reason given. The facebook message from "facebook security" stated that they had "noticed suspicious activity on my account"... but they failed to note exactly WHAT the alleged "suspicious activity" was! I have heard numerous accounts from other Christian and conservative facebook users in regard to this. I have one friend on facebook who ONLY posts scripture, and she also was given a 24 hour ban recently. For far too long, we in the states have become complacent, thinking that we will always have the free speech we enjoyed thus far in our lifetimes. Many of us have become lazy thinking that now that republicans hold the presidency, the house, and the senate that our freedom of speech is secure. Even though the left lost the election, they are still in control of most media. Zuckerberg (facebook) as well as the owners of Google are openly censoring conservative and Christian content. (If you haven't YET noticed a change in your search results there on Google, you soon will). They have gotten together (along with many leftist groups) in order to determine what THEY think is "fake news", which of course means that anything in opposition to their own liberal-left-leaning ideology they will deem to be "fake news". As many missionaries here can attest, they do not have the same freedoms to witness to others as we have here in the US. Yet sadly, so many of us are frittering away time here, taking for granted we will always have such freedom to share the gospel openly. I wanted to bring forth this timely encouragement for believers to share the gospel with as many as you can... in whatever venue you can... WHILE you can. If you are not sure what the gospel IS... it is found in 1 "Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;" 2 "By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain." 3 "For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;" 4 "And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures" The gospel is the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ Jesus. Sadly, this is often overlooked in an attempt to share WHY one must believe on Jesus for salvation, and skip right to the "believe" but not WHAT to believe! (A watered down version of the gospel). How many times growing up did I hear the Billy Graham style mantra of HIS version of the "gospel"? Graham's version was: "Ask Jesus into your heart". Where, I wonder, did he find THAT "gospel"? And how many were deceived by it? Now that we know what the gospel is, we also know that we must BELIEVE the gospel. 16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." 17 "For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved." 18 "He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." 9 "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." 10 "For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." "For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him." "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." "Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved." "And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation: To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation." We see then that the gospel (the death, burial, and resurrection) must be believed for salvation. We further see that Jesus took OUR sins upon Himself on the cross... He went willingly to, to pay for those sins which we coud NEVER pay for ourselves ("...all our rightousness are as filthy rags..." ). Salvation is a free gift, but one must BELIEVE and accept the gift... it is not 'automatically applied' without belief. In fact, tells us "... he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.". We further see that in His resurrection, Jesus defeated death... rising in a glorified, uncorruptible body! So that we (believers) will ALSO have a body like Jesus' own perfected eternal body (1 John 3:2). When will we receive those uncorruptible/perfected bodies? At the rapture! 51 "Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed," 52 "In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed." 53 "For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality." 54 "So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory." 55 "O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?" 13 "But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope." 14 "For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him." 15 "For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep." 16 "For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:" 17 "Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord." 18 "Wherefore comfort one another with these words." God's word tells us to "comfort one another with these words". Nothing is more comforting to a believer than to know that Jesus has defeated both sin and death... and HE is the reason for the hope that is within us. Won't YOU share the gospel with someone today? Or could it be... and be honest with yourself and with the Lord... that you are ashamed of the gospel? Ashamed of Christ?
  5. Hello, Brother "NN". I hope you are doing well. I'm still alive in a corruptible body, watching and waiting for the Lord to call me home or to catch me up in the clouds, to meet Him in the air... whichever comes first. I wanted to chime in here... and also want you to note it is not my intention to make fun or pick a fight... I just wanted to note some information to which you might not be aware. You may not realize, but "Bonsai trees" have their root in Taoism and later Buddhism. "Bonsai was part of the ancient Chinese art of "penjing," also know as "pun-sai," which means the practice of creating a miniature landscape in a container. Chinese artists used plants, rocks, and other natural materials to craft tiny landscapes, often resembling sacred mountains, brooks, and other natural scenes, as well as dragons and serpents, all arranged on trays or in pots." (taken from an articel: "The History of Bonsai in Buddhism" Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/5253401 It later became a practice in Japan and part of "Zen Buddhism". While to the unsaved world (especially in the US) the mixing of eastern religions into everyday life seems to be no "big deal". Sadly, this has spread to many professing "christian" churches. There are even "yoga" classes in some churches today. Martial arts also gives reverence and pays repspect to a "god" other than the One True God of the Bible. It is not my intention to shame anyone here... only to offer factual reference in regard to eastern religions creeping into the homes of possibly unsuspecting believers. Not just the practices, but the terms. The small sapling you show would not (in my mind) be a bonsai. I see nothing inherently 'wrong' with shaping and pruning a tree in and of itself for specific reasons (In my healthier years I pruned many a fruit tree so as not to have an overabundance of apples or peaches which the limbs could not bear). Thus, it's the term "Bonsai" that I am making reference to.
  6. I use two major criteris for voting: #1. What is the persons proclaimed stance on Christian rights (will they allow Christians the freedom to worship without fear of legal/personal ramifications?) #2. What is the persons proclaimed stance on Israel (will they bless or curse Israel? Do they claim they will stand for or against Israel?) Those are the 2 most relevant criteria I (myself use). Let me also point out 2 relevant facts as well. #1. If Hillary Clinton is elected it will be the final nail in the coffin of this once great nation, for reasons too numerous to note, but most especially because she will continue to curse Israel. #2. If we (Christians) "sit out" this voting cycle and leave all the voting to the ungodly, unsaved, and secular... we can be sure that the results will be an unngodly, unsaved, and secular choice. Thankfully, we are not voting for a "pastor in chief" when voting for a president. I wonder if most realize that the SAME arguments were being made many years ago against Ronald Reagan when he was running for office as are made about Trump today? He was divorced, he was a former movie celebrity, he wasn't the world's best "poster child" for Christianity, etc, etc. Yet, what was the other option??? Then as now... we only have 2 viable choices. A recent proclamation was made that Donald Trump has accepted/believed on Jesus for salvation. This profession of faith COULD very well be a "bargaining chip" to sway voters opinions. And while there is reason to suspect the timing of the profession of Mr. Trump's accepting Christ... I have to wonder do any of us attempt to put ourselves in the Lord's place to determine who has and who hasn't believed on Christ for salvation? Do we truly know ANY other persons heart and mind? Are there clues? Yes, But again... I personally do not presume to take God's place in an all-knowing fashion as to whether another has or has not accepted/believed on Jesus for salvation. IF (and I do stress the word IF) Mr. Trump has recently believed on Jesus for salvation, would we then expect him to show a complete 180 degree change in actions and attitude overnight? Do we not know MANY professing Christians who are STILL stuck on the "milk" of the word even decades after accepting/believing Christ? IF they truly have believed on Christ for salvation, they SHOULD have the desire to grown in the sincere milk of the word until they are then capable of understanding the meatier matters. BUT do we expect an overnight transformation? Would any Bible figure (except for the perfect savior Jesus) be able to prove out this theory? Didn't Peter deny the Lord thrice? Didn't Thomas doubt Jesus? I'm sure there are numerous other examples. But the point is: as long as we are in corruptible bodies under the sin curse, NONE of us can claim we "sin not". We do not know the true condition of anyone's heart. No one (other than the Lord Himself) knows perfectly the true conditions of our hearts. I shouldn’t presume to know your heart, and you shouldn’t presume to know mine. And we shouldn’t presume to know the hearts of others. Can any one of us claim that we sin not, even AFTER salvation? If so, that person is a liar. And if we attempt to claim we are "much less of a sinner" than Mr. Trump, and/or that he shouldn't be held up as a "model Christian"... I wonder do we think any of us CAN BE??? If the world truly knew ANY ONE of our hearts, minds, past sins, present failures and shortcomings the way the Lord does, would ANY ONE of us want to stand up as the "poster child" for Christianity??? And if we put ANY man or woman in that position (other than Jesus Himself) as the example of whom a Christian should be like... we are in grave error...there is NONE righteous... no not one! So NO, I do NOT think Mr. Trump is the model of Christianity. But guess what??? I don't think YOU are either, and before you take offense, I do not think I am either (nor any other person living on this planet). ONLY CHRIST was perfect and to be the One whom we aspire to be like. To be honest, I believe the rapture will SOON occur. My most fervent desire is that it will happen prior to the elections. BUT should we still be here in November, should there even BE an election I know whom I am going to cast my meager one vote for (God willing). This isn't a decision made lightly, it is one we should ALL pray about. If anyone is planning on "sitting out" the election, I wonder if it MAY have anything to do with pride??? I will do my duty as a citizen to vote for the one person to whom I feel best meets my criteria (#1 and #2 at top) for voting. There are truly only 2 viable options with any chance of getting elected, I know for sure I will NOT be voting for Hillary Clinton (As with all things, God willing. IF we haven't been raptured and IF I'm still alive come November). Maranatha!
  7. I'm glad your blood pressure is within range But I'm sorry to hear you have a pinched nerve issue in your spine. I do hope that's all it is, and that it will resolve with rest, as well as hot/cold alternating compresses. Nothing hurts as much as spinal pain (in my opinion). Prayers sent up for a speedy recovery!
  8. 1 Tim.
  9. This is not the question the OP was asking... he wanted extra-Biblical (1st/2nd century) writing. I suggested where he MIGHT find it. Not that I (myself) would recommend reading it. Amen!
  10. As you probably know, Jewish time keeping is done differently than Western time keeping. A 24 hour day (to Western eyes) would start at midnight (12 am) and run through the next 24 hour period until 11:59 pm. However, Jewish time is (and was) kept by the sun-down to sun-up to sun-down (divided by daytime hours and nighttime hours) daytime hours begin with dawn (and vary throughout the year according to season) daytime hours end with sundown (again varies in time because of seasonal sunset at different times) Sundown BEGINS the next day (Jewish time)... for instance today (July 17, 2016) in Israel, it is 4:44am there while it is 9:44pm (here in Ohio). The sun "set" in Israel 4 hours and 44 minutes ago, and thus (to them) a "new day" began (at nightfall). In the first century, they would have divided the night into "watches" as well. In one article I read, it stated the first watch would be from sundown until 9pm, the 2nd watch would be from 9pm until midnight, the 3rd watch would be from midnoght until 3am, the fourth watch would be from 3am until sunrise. IF you require further knowledge of how PART of a day is considered (by Orthodox Jews) to be "a day" you CAN find such writing stemming from 1st/2nd century writers...I suggest you start with the "Mishnah" and "Tamid" or Talmudic writing. Later writing (the Gemara are post 500 AD and are basically additional commentary on the Misrah so you won't likely find what you are looking for there but who knows???) I have NOT (personally) read these, NOR do I intend to, since they are written by men who did not believe Jesus was their Messiah, it is "Rabbinic literature", and of course, not on par with the Bible since they have been blinded and "missed their time of visitation". I do not know (exactly) what you want the information for... out of curiosity... to settle an argument with a "6th day crucifixion" proponent, or to make an argument here regarding Jesus' death/burial/resurrection??? Whatever the case... I can only tell you that since you asked the question in 2013 and are still expecting an answer HERE (?) It would be safe to say that none of us here are inclined to read Talmudic writing, nor do we desire to. There IS a cult movement afoot called the "Hebrew Roots" movement. (HRM for short) It is very dangerous grounds to MIX talmudic writing into or alongside actual scripture, since it's obviously written by those who have rejected Jesus as Messiah, and as such it is most assuredly NOT on par with scripture in any way. (and miing talmudic writing with actual scripture is only PART of the problems the HRM has) But if you desire to find supposed 1st/2nd century "Jewish" writing which gives reasons why a certain part of a day is considered a day, talmudic writing is where you will likely find it. The Mishnah is (supposedly) oral rules/customs written down. BUT keep in mind this wasn't written until the 1st and 2nd century... AFTER the cross, and AFTER they had rejected Christ as Messiah. Before I am accused of being antisemitic, I can assure you I am NOT. I can also assure you that I do not buy into the HRM cult's theories and demonic teaching that the "Jewish people" are supposedly not the "Jewish people". (yes the HRM IS that messed up) I've come across several HRM cult members who actually THROW OUT Paul's writing and hold to the erroneous belief that THEY themselves are somehow the "lost sheep of the house of Israel" spoken of in Matt.15:24, et al. They believe Jesus died on the cross ONLY for "them" and it is a VERY DANGEROUS cult which throws out MOST of the new testament and ADDS in talmudic writing. OBVIOUSLY, anyone who has read past that point (Matthew) understands that (corporate) Israel rejected Jesus (*** MY note: the final rejection coming at the stoning of Stephen in Acts 7 in MY opinion). HOWEVER, the Jews are only blind IN PART until the fulness of the gentiles be come in (Rom. 11:25). There are (and have been) MANY Jewish people who have (and will continue to) come to saving belief in Jesus as savior throughout the entire age of grace. Also, God's word says there is NO difference between us during the age of grace (in respect to the offer of salvation during the age of grace) Romans 10:12 "For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him." So again... unsure why you want this information, but since I am not inclined to read talmudic writing... I suggest you can research it for yourself. If you ask a practicing (non-Messianic) Jew, you will also likely find the answers vary widely as well... some hold that the talmudic writing are as inspired as the Torah (sadly), and others do not. But either way... 1st and 2nd century time-keeping customs can LIKELY (no guarantee) be found in the "Mishnah" and in other talmudic writings if you are dead-set on finding such writing (for whatever reason). And again I want to repeat this warning: Talmudic writings are NOT on par with scripture which is why Bible-believers don't generally read it, nor desire to read it!
  11. I can relate to this... thankfully I've only had one teen in the house at a time. My sons are all well apart in age (the oldest, soon to be 33, the middle 26, the "baby" soon to be 18) so it seems like I've always had a teenager in the house. Good thing for the middle and youngest that they don't come out as teenagers when they're born... otherwise I would have stopped at the first ONE! Also good thing for the oldest 2 that the youngest was born last... I also would have stopped at ONE! Times have certainly changed over the years... dealing with teens has never been an easy thing by any means. But I readily admit that as each child turned into a teen it was progressively worse per child... MOSTLY because society has progressively gotten worse day by day. There are SO MANY MORE sinful things which are now made easily-accessible to teens whereas before there was much more of a chance they would have had to at minimum sneak out of the house to do things like that. And their peers (even from good church-going families) have also become much more sinful and worldly over the years. What used to be shunned is now days not only "politically correct", and not just accepted in society, but teens are mocked viciously (even by other professing "christians") if they don't go with the evil-wicked "flow". One more thing I have noticed (and this also is in the realm of professing Christian families)... I've noticed that parents often try to be the best friends of their kids and not the loving authority they need. I would even go so far as to say that some people seem to almost worship their children, living to serve their kids, bowing to their every demand, buying them off with whatever they desire to keep the peace. Teens being given vehicles for which they didn't work 5 minutes for (much less 5 months) and are far too pricey to have been handed over to an inexperienced driver. Not teaching teens that hard work pays off (but instead pouting and fit throwing gets them "their way"). One more thing... I think it MOST prevalent in today's society (which I didn't see so much before)... parents often seem to be using their kids as status symbols... "look, I bought my kid this or that", etc. It's really ridiculous... I guess I could go on and on about all the changes I've seen over the years, but it can all pretty much be summed up in this: These are the perilous last days Paul spoke of to Timothy. We can see these characteristics on maximum overdrive at the apex of wickedness. I don't expect to see things get "better" for the world, at least not for another 7+ years. But it also gives more hope of the nearness of the rapture! I don't envy your job. I don't think we've ever had a conversation before? (Forgive me if we have... I've forgotten). But I have to say my admiration is high for any person dealing with teens in a ministerial position... it would be one of the hardest jobs ever these days (if you are one of the admirable few who keep to scripture and don't compromise with society). I'll be praying for your ministry! God bless!!!
  12. Thank you, brother Alan. I do hope the electricity problem has been resolved and that you are all safe and well. God bless!!!
  13. Thank you, brother Alan. My medical conditions are both of the neurological nature. One being the disruption of neurotransmitters to the various body parts (primary progressive MS), and the other being degenerative of the thoracic spinal column by amassed cerebral-spinal fluid collected in a pocket (called a syrinx) within the spinal cord. Neither of which have direct ties to blood (as they as both are disruptions/problems concerning neurological transmission and not disruption of blood flow). I would be happy to contribute to this devotion, but due to time constraints (and other discussions which have taken up more time than I would have liked) I will abstain at this time. I would also like to say that you have covered the subject well, and even if I would participate, there is little else I could add to the study. Thank you! God bless as you desire t please and serve Him! Maranatha!!!
  14. I can relate to your devotional message very well. Is there a "like a whole lot" button? What may appear to be the worst experience or circumstance you ever endure can be the biggest blessing ever given. Relying fully on the Lord brings us into a deeper relationship with Him than we ever might have had if circumstances were as they were previously. Most of my life I THOUGHT I was relying on the Lord. But after certain events transpired, I realize now how fully now I do rely on the Lord for all things. His grace IS sufficient!
  15. Often times I don't even know that a newer devotion has been posted until someone comments on it. And yes, brother Jim... the devotion link takes us to the blog section? It is even harder for newer members to find content as well. It took me many months, and a kind member (I think it was brother NN) who directed me on how to navigate the activity feed rather than just using the home page to find newer content. That saved countless hours of time searching for new content. Hopefully the newer members will be able to navigate to content they are interested in finding/discussing, and/or asking questions about.
  16. Another term we hear non-stop during the election cycle is "progressive"... as if it's a good thing. I have primary progressive multiple sclerosis. The "progress" of the ungodly liberal ideology can be likened to the progress of my type of MS. They are both advancing, but in a destructive fashion, and there's not one good thing about either "progression".
  17. I agree, and on the even more absurd side... it's now supposedly RACIST to say "ALL lives matter". "Hater" and "Racist" seem to be terms with which liberal socialists do not comprehend the meaning of, but use frequently since they have no better (or even realistic) jabs to throw against the truth. Men desiring to use the women's restroom? The next word I would like to vomit on is "self-identify". What if I "self-identify" with being the president and decide I want to march into the white house and take over? That thought is far less preposterous than men wanting to dress up as women (and vice-versa). Common sense would dictate that there are MANY more pedophiles and would-be rapists who would use this opportunity to commit their wicked acts, and with the liberal socialists blessings it seems. The world has gone stark raving mad. Over the last year, this one verse comes to mind at least a dozen times a day when I watch/read just about ANY main stream media article these days, since 99.9% of them all have such a liberal/biased slant: Isaiah 5:20 "Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!" And 2 Tim. 3:1-5 characteristics have never been so prevalent. "This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; 5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. "Selfies", "photobombs", and all of the backwards uses of the words "hater" and "racist" can all be seen in those verses. So are we going to see things get better? I think not. A few short verses later we read verse 13 " But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived." No doubt in my mind, these are the perilous last days Paul was telling Timothy would come. God won't be mocked, His righteous wrath will soon fall upon this evil wicked unbelieving world. For me, the only peace of mind that comes from knowing this is having His assurance that we're not appointed to God's wrath (1 Thes. 5:9) and we've been delivered from the wrath to come (1 Thes. 1:10). Those are mighty comforting promises in these evil and perilous last days.
  18. Eric, Yes, It is a "fun time" when anyone learns something new. Christ will "fix the earth" as you say, so it can be repopulated throughout the millennium. But again.... I strongly urge you to read/re-read Revelation chapters 20 and 21... note it isn't until AFTER the devil has been defeated for the FINAL time that God creates a new heaven and a new earth. That's not at all the same as refurbishing or "fixing up" the earth. It is a total destruction of this earth and a new one created. Next, AFTER Rev. 20 comes Rev. 21... which opens up with v.1-2 " 1 "And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea."2 "And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband." Read v. 5 "And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new..." He does not say refurbished here.. it is a totally NEW creation where NO unrighteousness will dwell. Again, this entirely NEW creation can't be made until after the devil is defeated the final time. I do hope you will read the chronology of events and understand that the "refurbishing" is not the same event as the creation of an entirely new and perfect, sinless heaven and earth. God bless!
  19. I Brother Eric, I respectfully yet strongly disagree. A quick study in Revelation 20 dispels that statement. v. 7 "And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison" We then read that God destroys the devil and those who revolted with him at the end of the millennium, THEN we see the great white throne judgment v. 11 "And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them." The heaven and earth flee from God's face THEN, and that's AFTER the millennium. We next see the judgment of the rest of the dead v. 15 "And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire." What happens then? Rev. 21 starts out with verse 1-2 1 "And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea."2 "And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband." The rest of chapter 21 goes into detail about the New Jerusalem. This cannot happen until after the millennium because the heaven and earth don't flee from God's face until Rev. 20:11, AFTER the millennium, after the final revolt of the devil, and after the devil is cast into the lake of fire in Rev. 20:10 "And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever." There will still be sin on earth during the millennium. Christ will be there to rule and reign in righteousness, but even though conditions are wonderful, mankind still will have sin in his heart. That's why many will willfully CHOOSE to follow the devil after he is loosed from the bottomless pit at the end of the thousand years to deceive the nations. The new heaven and new earth cannot be created while he yet has sway over mankind. He is defeated once and for all, cast into the lake of fire, the rest of dead are all judged accordingly, and THEN the new heavens and new earth according to Rev. 20-21.
  20. Now that Cruz has dropped out of the race... what are the staunch Cruz supporters going to do? Sit the election out? Which is as good as giving a vote to Hillary (or Bernie). The GOP hasn't yet named Trump the nominee. They now have a choice between 2 things... support the will of the people and select Trump as nominee, OR go against the will of the people and name someone like Kasich (or another GOP puppet) as nominee in direct conflict with the will of the voters. If they chose, the 2nd option... they will then cause many republicans to sit out the election which will hand over the presidency to a democrat. Who knows, maybe that's been the plan all along. I trust fully in God and in God's will. He sets up kings/rulers and all those in authority, he knocks them down as well. If I am still here (and if there is an election) come November, I plan on voting for whichever republican candidate they choose as nominee, because to not vote would be a vote for the democrats... something my conscience won't allow. I have always voted in the elections up until last time.... I sat it out because I refused to vote for a mormon cultist. So did MANY republicans (sit out last election). Look how that turned out. We ended up with something FAR WORSE... an islamic socialist bent on NWO agenda. Lesson learned. I won't sit out the next election (if I' still here and if there is an election), even if the GOP nominee isn't who I wanted. I think it's telling that Kasich is staying in the race, even though he doesn't have near enough delegates. Will the GOP try to shove him in as nominee? Who knows. And I despise Kasich.... he's ruined Ohio and will do worse for the nation. But I know this, I won't vote democratic, and I won't it the election out. Here's why... Here's will happen if republicans sit out the election: 2 clips here (below) Obama admits the world banks are created to support the NWO https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aqoar7DZ-so&feature=share Next clip, Obama says "the end of the republic has never looked better" he jokes it could be "the last" presidency https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=buEmGWVT4eo&feature=share
  21. Both republican and democratic parties have many members with ties to secretive societies which do perform some very strange and evil occult rituals. The Bohmeian Grove is an example of one. Others are: the Bilderberg group, Skull and Bones, Freemasonry, and possibly the most demonic: the illuminati. Depending on whom you prefer for a candidate, one will attempt to smear the other side of the aisle (or even same party, but opponent to one's favorite candidate) by stating that the other candidate supposedly belongs to one or more of these groups. I would contend that we would be shocked to know that many candidates (both republican and democratic) belong to at least one of these groups, and IF per chance they do not... they have a very high likelihood of being assassinated. There is no hope in mankind. My hope is in Jesus and in the blessed hope. Maranatha!
  22. Brother Jordan, Prayers sent up that God's will be done. If God means for you to have a wife, He will provide. However, if God means for you to devote yourself wholly to Him for the time being, I am sure He has a very good reason. Prayers also for safe travels and that many are reached with the gospel. You are to be commended for your unselfish desires to serve the Lord. Prayers also that God greatly bless and watch over you as you serve Him. Please stay in touch with us here on OB if possible!
  23. The peace of God is something which cannot be explained fully to an unsaved person. What wonderful comfort we have with the Holy Spirit indwelling us and comforting us (John 14:16). When physical, financial, familial, and all concerns seem to be overwhelming, the peace of God gives us such comfort knowing that Jesus has overcome the world, and that we, through Him, have overcome as well. We need to always bear in mind that this life (in corruptible bodies) is merely temporal (2 Cor. 4:18). Truly a speck of dust in comparison to eternity. I would like to contribute to brother Alan's devotion by quoting 2 very comforting and powerfully assuring verses which have been a blessing to me throughout the years: John 16:33 "These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world." Philippians 4:7 "And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."
  24. No matter who your preferred candidate is, there is something going on which should trouble EVERY American citizen. The subversion of the will of the people shown in the blatant disregard of the voters in Colorado just recently. Should our voting process be contingent upon who can woo (or bribe) delegates? Is that not raqueteering? No matter what the GOP caucus inner circle "decrees" as a supposed "law" within their group, it makes little different WHAT they "decree", there are laws which ARE in place which supersede whatever the policitcal parties "decree". The civil rights act of 1964, the Jim Crow law, the voting rights act of 1965 (and I am sure there are MORE laws such as these). These voting rights don't just cover blacks or minorities, they cover discrimination for ALL people. When party caucus appointees are the only ones supposedly "permitted" to DECIDE who can be nominated as the person we (the American people) can vote for, it's no longer an election... it's an appointment or "decree". When the party caucus appointees are the people who appoint who can RUN for president that IS just like communist "elections". At LEAST communist nations have a "token" vote of people (with the same corrupt ending). I saw many videos yesterday of some VERY UPSET Colorado residents. There were BOTH republican AND democratic peoples whowere irate that they weren't even ALLOWED to vote in the primaries! The republican party GAVE 34 delegates to Cruz. I saw many people's video from Colorado who were even previously supportive of Cruz (and had intended to vote for Cruz in the primaries in Colorado) who ALSO were seriously upset that their own votes didn't get to count either. This is about fairness and RIGHTS. Not about who your favorite candidate is. Do you want to live in a communist nation? When someone is "decreed" not only who the nominee is, but who the president is? Not a far stretch. No matter what side of the aisle you are on, and no matter who your favorite candidate is... (and even if this illegal action is working in his/her favor), this SUBVERSION OF THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE should very much upset you. Rigged elections. Once again "decrees" should NEVER supersede LAWS already on the books. If you ARE a Cruz supporter, let me ask you this? What IF the tables were turned and they GAVE the delegates to Trump? Would you THEN feel it was unfair? And the flip side of the coin, If you ARE a Hillary supporter, What IF the tables were turned and they GAVE the delegates to Sanders? Would you THEN feel it was unfair? I am by NO MEANS a Bernie Sanders supporter, but what the democratic party is doing to him as well, is also unfair and is also subverting the will of the American people. What IF the republican party then turns around and steals Cruz's delegates and GIVES them to another person? Will you be upset about this then? They are already discussing how Rubio's delegates won can be used on a candidate of their choice... what if it's NOT Cruz? And before you answer, think of this... It might be working in your favor THIS TIME (currently for any Hillary or Cruz supporter), but what about WHEN it's NOT working in your favor? It's not a matter of IF, it's a matter of WHEN. This voter discrimination is going to work to HURT the republican party as a whole. I can't count the videos of Colorado republicans who were so very upset that they vowed that after this "election" they would never again be a republican. This is only going to work in favor of the democratic party. Hillary will win the election if the people feel they had NO CHOICE in the primaries, they will also feel their vote in the general election doesn't count. Many republicans won't even bother to vote in the fall. What a shame that the GOP would rather hand over the votes to the democratic party rather than to allow the will of the American people to decide the nominee. The lack of votes for a republican candidate will hurt the party. The same is true on the democratic side of the coin. Those who support Sanders are also outraged at how the dem. party is also subverting their will and their dislike of Hillary. There will be far less voter turnout come November (if there even IS an election in November) because people now feel their vote doesn't "count". What do you want? "Decrees" or laws already on the books? The brokered situation of delegates was only specified to be when there was a close race of the popular vote. There was in no way supposed to be an entire CANCELLATION of a public primary, and delegate votes just handed over to whomever the delegates themselves chose. They are even breaking their own "decree" by cancelling Colorado citizen's rights to vote! Subverting the will of mankind is what the devil would like to see happen. The antichrist is going to need complete control over the populous, this is one HUGE step towards that. I've heard many Cruz supporters say he is a constitutionalist. If that's true, how can he support the GOP "decree" over the laws already on the books? Should our voting process be contingent upon who can woo (or bribe) delegates? Is that not raqueteering? There was once freedom and justice in this land. It's now subversion and corruption. Welcome to communism.
  25. No free will you say? Free will is (in part) the ability to make a choice. God gave plenty of choices for people (after Adam and before Christ's perfect work on the cross) in the OT. They had a CHOICE (of their own individual free will) to make. In Joshua, He was telling them they can either CHOOSE to serve the Lord or CHOOSE to serve false "gods". In Deuteronomy He gave them a choice between life and death, blessings or curses, and the end result would be because of the CHOICE they made. In Proverbs, He let's them know that they had a CHOICE either to fear God or not! All throughout the OT there are free will CHOICES... and each choice had consequences. Joshua 24:15 "And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve..." Deuteronomy 30:19 "I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live" Proverbs 1:29 "For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the Lord" Proverbs 3:31 "Envy thou not the oppressor, and choose none of his ways." Isaiah 56:4, Isaiah 65:12, the verses above, and many other verses let us know that God DID give them free will choices! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Now in reference to your statement "only a born again believer" has free will??? Matthew 10:32-33 "Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven." "But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven" *There are plenty of "whossoever will" verses throughout the NT. Revelation 22:17 "And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely." John 3:16-18 16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." 17 "For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved." 18 "He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." EVERYONE (prior to believing and accepting Christ, and prior to the indwelling of the Holy Spirit) has a choice to make. The biggest and MOST important choice and decision of their lives on earth. To CHOICE to believe and accept Christ OR the CHOICE to disbelieve and reject Christ. That requires FREE WILL and mankind HAS free will. If you still want to say that: "Only Adam and a born again person while walking in the Spirit will have free will"???? then you have to throw out ALL of those Bible verses (and MANY others as well). BUT the CHOICE is yours because God gave YOU free will also.
