I understand, only because I'm saved by grace and speaking with a brother who knows what is going on. We should at least stop saying leader and phrases like "we need stronger leadership in our nation's capitol." Some of these people we place in Washington D.C. begin to believe they really are 'leaders' like Obama, and therefore are free to do as they please.

Persons elected or appointed to governmental offices are NOT leaders, they are PUBLIC servants. From the office of President Of The United States to the office of Sewer Inspector Any City of the United States, they are all PUBLIC servants NOT leaders. We don't need leaders. First, we need servants who will respect the authority of the document (The Constitution of the United States and State's Constitutions) which provides the guidelines for those government service positions. Secondly, we need servants who respect the desires (vote) of the people. I believe we would be better served by our servants if we stopped calling them leaders and started holding them accountable for their service. Furthermore, the real leadership is the voting public not the PUBLIC servant.

I really like it when I see people use the word "servant" when talking about public servants.

We had mushrooms growing at the first place we lived...behind the toilet in the bathroom.  Needless to say we didn't eat them.
I'm not a big fan of mushrooms, although I do like to use cream of mushroom soup in a few recipes. I found a recipe for homemade cream of mushroom that I'm going to make some day.
My hubs likes them fried in butter with onions. He'll eat them with or without meat. He also likes them sometimes on steak sandwiches and on pizza.  Or raw in salads. And he loves stuffed mushrooms.
Certain mushrooms - shittake, mittake and a couple others - are very good for us. There seems to be some cancer-fighting properties in them. So I get my mushroom needs via my multi vitamin every day. That way I benefit from them without having to eat them.

We got about 6 inches last Monday.  And it's been wintery-cold ever since.  There were a number of flurries yesterday but nothing measurable.
It's supposed to rain tomorrow and get into the low 40s. Then on Tuesday:  sunny and in the 60s! YAY!  The rest of the week is supposed to be warm and dry, too.

I appreciate your service and that the Lord got ahold of you up in VA.  I did about 8 years in before I got saved.  I was an "A" school instructor in Pensacola when I got saved.  I'm an Aviation Electrician (AE), this is my first helo squadron, I had done a couple tours in P-3s before this.
I like how you use that acronym.  I will have to borrow it!

I personally am glad we have men like Tom Cotton in Congress. More of them would mean less of the garbage coming out of DC.

It didn't work... Massachusetts, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee & Texas all have a "religious test" .

1Timothy115 got a reaction from HappyChristian in Senators Open letter To Iran
This article was not written to "prevent an established national religion." It's pretty straight forward, in that, there is no requirement of any religious affiliation when holding any of the public service offices oulined in the U.S. Constitution. The intent of this English language phrase is to not exclude on the basis of any or no religious preference.
Back on topic, now that I've looked more closely at the U.S. Constitution, I don't believe the President has any power to enter into agreements with Iran or any other nation without the approval and oversight of the U.S. Congress.

After taking some time to consider the letter before giving an impression, I've decided these men believe we are are in desperate straights. Desperate times are filled with desperate measures by secular men and Christians. Obama is desperate for a legacy at any cost. These men who drafted and signed the document are desperate for the people to control the Republic.

I believe the drafters/signers felt compelled to send the letter for three reasons. (1) They are tired of the people's (U.S. citizens) will being thwarted by the current administration. (2) They can't trust Obama, Boehner, and Mitchell (I don't know why he signed it) to prevent a bad deal which will pave the path to nuclear weapons for a belligerent nation.  (3) Iran cannot be trusted they would comply, they have lied on several occasions before.

You mean there never was a HappyChristian on OB  LuAnn, all this time you were just a bunch of computer code. However, if you were just upgraded out of here then that is a good thing.

"Aim high!" Sounds like something my Air Force son would say. It takes on new meaning in this context. By the way, he made major this past Dec. ...a major pain  but, actually, no pain, he's saved by God's grace and I was blessed to hear him preach at my local church last year for Memorial Day.

I ran across a verse, Jeremiah 29:9 it was during the time when Jerusalem had been carried away to Babylon. There were a number of false prophets and prophecies, as many of you will recall. We see much of the same thing around us, evil leadership, evil religion, wickedness, and the example of false prophesy above. I suppose it must be Satan's further attempt to discourage us but, the words of Jeremiah 29:13 were spoken as a comfort during those times and should also be a comfort to us.
