Curious, when did the military start accepting 16 yr olds?

My parents were willing to sign permission for me to enlist after HS graduation (17) - Vietnam era.

During the Civil War, some southern boys would a piece of paper in one boot when enlisting so the could "honestly" answer "yes sir" to the recruiter's question "Are you over sixteen?"

    Same 17 with signature.

Yet, in EVERY IFB church I've been a member of, they are members of a state association of Baptist churches, or an association/fellowship that controls a college/institution of higher learning, or mission board. Not all followed the "recommendations"  of the fellowship or association. Why?? Because they were autonomous, not having a hierarchical nature or structure.  Your experience is just that, your experience, not necessarily right, but, then again, not necessarily wrong.

A fellowship is something entirely different than a convention. I''ve never been in an SBC church that wasn't required to support the missions of the SBC, they may have their own but they have to kick in for the SBC missions.

That will be all the Christian family can do is just leave. But at the same time they will gain more of them. They are not evil people, they are lost just like we were, but what they want to bring into the church is evil.

This is all I was saying about allowing homosexuals as members or positions  as an officer. It is scriptural to walk away from them IF they refuse to repent.

Ephesians 5:3-12 “But fornication, and all uncleanness… no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them… For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.”

So there are no Baptist bylaws that can disqualified a church, from being a Baptist church. Example , if I had a Baptist church, and I made the members work for their salvation, and made them get baptized. Under the Baptist church name There would be nothing others Baptist churches can do about it.

On a personal, Bible based note, it would not take long for me to recognize and walk away from any local church which recognized LGBTQ+IA for membership or office. If that is their position then I could not fellowship with them, only pray for them. I would not recognize them as a Baptist church, at all. But, if they have accepted this position then they don't care what I think nor what God's word says.

  5. We can be revived to the work the Lord would have us to do. Revival is definitely something God controls, that's why He would have us "restore such an one in the spirit of meekness;"; and have Ephesus, "Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works;"; and Thyatira "except they repent"; and Sardis to "strengthen the things which remain" also "Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent."; even the Laodicean Church,  "I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent."

This thread wasn't started so that we could be impressed with any one individual's presumed superior knowledge of prophecy or scripture. It was started so that we might reflect on things from the past that might be desired again.

Jerry, it appears you like to argue, and much of the time with me. I presented an opportunity for any who "had aught against" me to contact me, if this is you then, please contact me, as I requested in that post.

As nice as that would be, it is only a dream. The age of Philadelphia is past. That is not to say an individual church (or even an individual person) can not have a true revival, but we are in the time of the falling away before the return of Christ, so a nationwide or worldwide revival will never happen, according to the Bible.

Those words from the Bible were written well before the "Great Awakening" or the second "Great Awakening". There is no never where God is.

  7. Some history needs to be repeated, here's one...

Noah Webster (October 16, 1758 – May 28, 1843) was an American lexicographer, textbook pioneer, English-language spelling reformer, political writer, editor, and author. He has been called the "Father of American Scholarship and Education". His "Blue-backed Speller" books taught five generations of American children how to spell and read.

We need Noah and his Blue-backed Spellers back again.

I Imagine that some churches, someday, will start excepting this, abortions, like excepting gay marriages. They will say something like this, it’s okay God understand your problems, and your needs.

    It is Sad

    Sad indeed!

Isaiah 59:18   According to their deeds, accordingly he will repay, fury to his adversaries, recompence to his enemies; to the islands he will repay recompence.

  9. Matthew 18:15 Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.

I would like to clear any difference (offense or misunderstanding) that a brother or sister may have toward me. Please contact me so we can get it right between us. Thanks.

It lacked neither, and the request was to read the posts concerning this situation. I can see why there was a reaction from another from these forums in response to yours.

Wonderful then we're all square with God's word. The following was for JustaSearcher...Acts 8:23   For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity.

If you read my posts, you'd see I have. And yes, I have prayed for Mr. Schaap...we're NONE perfect. Read my signature line. I'm well aware of the fact that I personally am not perfect. Thank you for the Scripture, though. ?

I'm glad God's words caused you to reply. I won't go searching through past posts to see what has been said regarding other situations. I read this post and it lacked compassion and humility; so, I posted the appropriate scripture.

    Typical fundamentalist garbage.

Pray for the perv, not the victim. Rip a few Bible verses out of context to lay the burden on those who dare point out the crime.

Acts 8:23   For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity.

  12. Have you prayed for Jack Schaap yet?

Galatians 6:1   Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.

Matthew 26:41   Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

4 For out of much affliction and anguish of heart I wrote unto you with many tears; not that ye should be grieved, but that ye might know the love which I have more abundantly unto you. 5 But if any have caused grief, he hath not grieved me, but in part: that I may not overcharge you all. 6 Sufficient to such a man is this punishment, which was inflicted of many. 7 So that contrariwise ye ought rather to forgive him, and comfort him, lest perhaps such a one should be swallowed up with overmuch sorrow. 8 Wherefore I beseech you that ye would confirm your love toward him. 9 For to this end also did I write, that I might know the proof of you, whether ye be obedient in all things. ~ 2 Corinthians 2:4-9

  13. There is much we don't know for sure. "But one thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see."

Romans 5:9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

I never went to kindergarten...but I was in first grade in 1968. Being in Bloomington, IN at that time, we were being taught by the "liberated" crowd...and we were being taught about the "birds and the bees" by the student teachers from Indiana University.

Sad indeed. I know the attempt to destroy freedom to worship our Lord has had many forms since the inception of The United States; and, of course, since Satan's attack in the Garden on our first parents.
