  1. Excellent text. I've never heard it used in this context. Or, maybe I wasn't where I needed to be that day! I'm no Calvinist, so I'll be anxious to see how they deal with this parable Christ used to teach evangelism to those who are not "bidden."
  2. I always heard the "unknown tongue" was a language from another nation, not what the charismatics make it out to be. The one scripture they point to more frequently is 1 Corinthians 13:1 "Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal." and Paul is speaking of himself in this instance not of the church's ability. I've never been able to understand how they can base a doctrine on 1 Corinthians 12 and 13 and the Apostles in Acts.
  3. NO! I do support parents humbling themselves before God and returning Him to the position of preeminence in The U.S. where He belongs. If they don't then we'll see more of this... LA mom mowed down by teen driver blasts DA over probation sentence (nypost.com)
  4. Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. This is what I go by pertaining to guns and ownership.
  5. A fellowship is something entirely different than a convention. I''ve never been in an SBC church that wasn't required to support the missions of the SBC, they may have their own but they have to kick in for the SBC missions.
  6. Praying for a successful wedding.
  7. This is all I was saying about allowing homosexuals as members or positions as an officer. It is scriptural to walk away from them IF they refuse to repent. Ephesians 5:3-12 “But fornication, and all uncleanness… no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them… For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.”
  8. On a personal, Bible based note, it would not take long for me to recognize and walk away from any local church which recognized LGBTQ+IA for membership or office. If that is their position then I could not fellowship with them, only pray for them. I would not recognize them as a Baptist church, at all. But, if they have accepted this position then they don't care what I think nor what God's word says.
  9. There aren't that many things from the political arena to pray about beyond abortion, homosexuality, and godlessness of our nation.
  10. It is pretty obvious to us events are speeding up and most of us know what those events are speeding toward. They are speeding to the Great Event of the Lord Jesus' coming for His bride, praise God!
  11. Now how about some things you would like to see revisited in the U.S.
  12. We can be revived to the work the Lord would have us to do. Revival is definitely something God controls, that's why He would have us "restore such an one in the spirit of meekness;"; and have Ephesus, "Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works;"; and Thyatira "except they repent"; and Sardis to "strengthen the things which remain" also "Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent."; even the Laodicean Church, "I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent." This thread wasn't started so that we could be impressed with any one individual's presumed superior knowledge of prophecy or scripture. It was started so that we might reflect on things from the past that might be desired again. Jerry, it appears you like to argue, and much of the time with me. I presented an opportunity for any who "had aught against" me to contact me, if this is you then, please contact me, as I requested in that post.
  13. Those words from the Bible were written well before the "Great Awakening" or the second "Great Awakening". There is no never where God is.
  14. Another item from history that could use repeating in America... another 'The Great Awakening'.
  15. Some history needs to be repeated, here's one... Noah Webster (October 16, 1758 – May 28, 1843) was an American lexicographer, textbook pioneer, English-language spelling reformer, political writer, editor, and author. He has been called the "Father of American Scholarship and Education". His "Blue-backed Speller" books taught five generations of American children how to spell and read. We need Noah and his Blue-backed Spellers back again.
  16. Noah Webster embraced Calvinism but, it seems to have been different with regard to the U and L of the tulip.
  17. Sad indeed! Isaiah 59:18 According to their deeds, accordingly he will repay, fury to his adversaries, recompence to his enemies; to the islands he will repay recompence.
  18. I have a niece who is a supporter of baby murder. She is too young to know better and she has never been in a good Bible believing and teaching local church.
  19. Matthew 18:15 Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother. I would like to clear any difference (offense or misunderstanding) that a brother or sister may have toward me. Please contact me so we can get it right between us. Thanks.
  20. Wonderful then we're all square with God's word. The following was for JustaSearcher...Acts 8:23 For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity.
  21. I'm glad God's words caused you to reply. I won't go searching through past posts to see what has been said regarding other situations. I read this post and it lacked compassion and humility; so, I posted the appropriate scripture. Acts 8:23 For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity.
  22. Have you prayed for Jack Schaap yet? Galatians 6:1 Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. Matthew 26:41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. 4 For out of much affliction and anguish of heart I wrote unto you with many tears; not that ye should be grieved, but that ye might know the love which I have more abundantly unto you. 5 But if any have caused grief, he hath not grieved me, but in part: that I may not overcharge you all. 6 Sufficient to such a man is this punishment, which was inflicted of many. 7 So that contrariwise ye ought rather to forgive him, and comfort him, lest perhaps such a one should be swallowed up with overmuch sorrow. 8 Wherefore I beseech you that ye would confirm your love toward him. 9 For to this end also did I write, that I might know the proof of you, whether ye be obedient in all things. ~ 2 Corinthians 2:4-9
  23. There is much we don't know for sure. "But one thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see." Romans 5:9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
