So there are no Baptist bylaws that can disqualified a church, from being a Baptist church.

Nope. All Baptist churches are simply independent churches that Identify as having Believers Baptism (confessional faith) as opposed to Catholic Communal baptism (communal faith).

If they are part of a convention, for example, they are not.

Even then all the conventions can do is exclude the church from convention activities and resources. They can't really do much more than that.

  2. We do need to conform and challenge our ideas and teachings to that of the scriptures but too often the call for "challenge what you have been taught" comes from peddlers of long disproven, faulty, and bad teaching that tradition, scriptures, and plain family values has weeded out long ago, yet wishes to root itself back in again. When we take the lead of learning from such people without first being grounded in fundamental truth proven over lifetime of family learning, then the end result is one of shifting sands and unsure foundations.

  3. "Although eggs, in general, were a traditional symbol of fertility and rebirth,[2] in Christianity, for the celebration of Eastertide, Easter eggs symbolize the empty tomb of Jesus, from which Jesus was resurrected.[3][4][5] In addition, one ancient tradition was the staining of Easter eggs with the colour red "in memory of the blood of Christ, shed as at that time of his crucifixion."[3][6]

This custom of the Easter egg, according to many sources, can be traced to early Christians of Mesopotamia, and from there it spread into Eastern Europe and Siberia through the Orthodox Churches, and later into Europe through the Catholic and Protestant Churches.[6][7][8][9] Other sources maintain that the custom arose in western Europe during the Middle Ages as a result of the fact that Western Christians were prohibited from eating eggs during Lent, but were allowed to eat them when Easter arrived.[10][11]"

  4. While threr is "better terminology" to use, I have no problem with asking people to accept Christ that way. The concept is taken from various passages dealing with the heart and the work Christ does within our hearts. One of the passages is:

Ephesians 3:14-19 For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15 of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, 16 that he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; 17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; 19 and to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.

Matthew 7:7-9 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: 8 for every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. 9 Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?

tell me one thing Anderson preaches that's NOT scriptural

First I would like to say I am not opposed to his or any IFB pastors' ministry or soulwinning efforts, and I have defended Brother Anderson, and will continue to defend any preacher, against false allegations.

However, I could not minister with him for two reasons:

    1. His errant belief that the church is the New Testament Israel and errant belief that "Old Testament" and "Israeli National covenant" are the same thing. Acts 15 and 21 clearly shows they are separate. (his errant end times doctrine also stems from this error)

    2. He rejects the Apostle's Doctrine whenever the Apostles contradict his NIFB teaching. Particularly when they clearly state Israel is NOT the church he and other NIFB preachers openly say the Apostles were wrong in Acts 15 and 21. Pull up any of their videos and you will see any NIFB taking point clearly trumps any teaching that that an OT Prophet, Apostle or early church pastor such as James teaches. They give various excuses as to why the Apostles are wrong anytime they contradict. It is the Apostles duty to set doctrine of the church and not ours.

Acts 2:42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.

  6. Its basically supposed to be a Twitter clone but without "fact checkers". I don't like to use twitter so probably wouldn't like it either. Basically your "tweets" are called "truths" and your re-tweets are called "re-truths" which sounds too much like liberal "my truth and "your truth" new speak thinking rather than actually focusing on sharing actual Truth.

  7. I'm not quite sure what is being asked but we know God the Father is on the throne and Christ is at his right hand. In Revelation 5 Christ comes out from the midst of the throne and elders and then receives the book from God the Father. Christ will also have a separate earthly throne in the millennial kingdom.

Psalm 110:1 The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool.

Colossians 3:1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.

    Hebrews 1:3 who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

Revelation 5:6-7 And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth. 7 And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne.

Luke 22:29-30 And I appoint unto you a kingdom, as my Father hath appointed unto me; 30 that ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

Matthew 20:21 And he said unto her, What wilt thou? She saith unto him, Grant that these my two sons may sit, the one on thy right hand, and the other on the left, in thy kingdom.

similar contrast of His seat at Jerusalem to the imaginary seat of the pagan gods in the extreme north."

I'd say the reference to the pagans ideas is assumption and over embellishment but the rest of it I would agree with.

Isaiah 14 is referring to God's throne in Heaven

I would say Isaiah 14:13-14 is referring to both heaven, earth and the realm in-between. The Jerusalem Temple, with the mercy seat symbolized God's earthy authority and covenant with the earthy people/nation of God. The devil wanted to dominate God by ruling over the seat of the spirit realm (heaven, stars) and the seat of earthly authority (congregation, side of the north, etc)

  10. He's not living life with after life in mind but rather the end of life.....The poem is about a modern atheist who wants to get the most for himself before he ends. The only "nice thing" about him is that he wants to do it without hurting or offending those around him while doing it.

  11. Yes (that is if English is still being used):

Matthew 24:15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)

After the Christian witness of the Word is removed by the Spirit then all that will be left is the written witness of the Word of God.

Furthermore, in today's culture, when human psychoanalysis engages such matters,.....

Discussion on the rights and wrongs and errors of the secular Psychology in this area could merit its own very long and detailed discussion but ultimately is unnecessary for the practical applications of Christians dealing with depression, in my opinion.

Depression and anxiety ARE spiritual issues.

While I agree to a 1/3 point. it also should be noted "Depression" and "anxiety" and "blues" are not biblically defined words and are not limited to Spiritual issues but they are clinical words (well "blues" is colloquial) being observed from the physical side. Meaning they are not equal opposites of only spiritual peace or equal to merely being spiritually troubled or mentally worried. While a strong Spirit or a disciplined mind or a healthy body can cover up or compensate for those lacking in one or two of the three for a time, its not healthy to continue in that state, without eventually addressing the root cause.

I recently had a preacher preach a sermon that said that depression, anxiety, and the blues were nothing more than sin in the lives of those who suffered these maladies.

As we are a three part being made up of Body, Soul, and Spirit, we (the whole person) can be affected by issues originating from any one or more of these. The key to curing or managing any issue is to first figure out in which part or parts the issue is coming from, as each has its own manor of operation that have to be dealt with.

For example the body can cause depression by being broken or inured in some way (Part not working, aging, bad diet, chemical imbalance, drug use, physical exhaustion, lack of rest, etc.), the Soul can cause it by poor self esteem, bad education, and relationships, mental exhaustion, etc., and the Spirit can cause it by being dead in sin, cut off from God, communing with evil spirits or attempting to contact the spirit world, as a believer not following the leading of the Holy Spirit, Prayer warriors fighting Spiritual battles, weary in the fight, etc.

Being a frontline minister in particular or taking on more than you are equipped to handle in general is not easy and, while sin can play a part, its often simple exhaustion and not understanding that they need to take proper rest and care of all three aspects of themselves. As they fight and try to do the will of God, the areas that are not maintained properly eventually break down, causing issues such as "depression, anxiety, and the blues".

This site is marked by absolute, uncontrolled rage!

Most rage on this forum is self perceived by those uncomfortable with their ideas being challenged. "Rage" means "violent anger" and to my knowledge, while many have had fundamental and heated disagreements, no one here has been moved to the point of rage against someone, particularly to the point it could not be controlled. The bigger issue is not rage but false assumptions about others.

As with any forum you get what you put into it. If you want peace and calm then that is what you should be. If you want reason and respect then that is what you should give. If you want friends then you should be friendly.

Galatians 5:14-16 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 15 But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another. 16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
