Reminds me of being back in Bible college and our daily theological discussions in the coffee shop. Ah, those were the days! That was also where I learned that the college was crawling with Briders.

I'm not a Baptist brider but I am a New Jerusalem bride birther, by virtue of salvation, who happens to be a baptist in doctrine. :29_smirk:

Psalm 87:5-6 And of Zion it shall be said, This and that man was born in her: and the highest himself shall establish her. 6 The Lord shall count, when he writeth up the people, that this man was born there. Selah.

Revelation 19:7-8 Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. 8 And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.

Revelation 21:9-14 And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb’s wife. 10 And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, 11 having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal; 12 and had a wall great and high, and had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written thereon, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel: 13 on the east three gates; on the north three gates; on the south three gates; and on the west three gates. 14 And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.

But if we agree that Ham's descendants peopled Africa then we have to account for their black pigmentation.... Now, the conclusion is that Noah's curse on Canaan has to be the dark pigmentation. Ham was the guilty party but it was his grandson that bore the curse. How have others of you dealt with this issue? I don't buy the idea that somehow the sun caused the skin color to change.

First a Christian should not care about skin pigmentation, Secondly the false "Pigmentation" doctrine of Ham (some use Cain's mark) was developed by people influenced by evolutionary thinking, who desired show why the "negro race" was inferior and deserved to be subjugated. (This thinking believed in four to seven human races that did not have common ancestors and developed separately over time and their white race being the most human with the pure white Aryan Race least tainted by the others and therefor better more evolved.). Third it is predicating the myth that it is a curse to be negro, which it is not.

Personally I don't think we need to entertain the curse of pigmentation or race "question" as if it had any actual merit in scripture other than to say that proponents of it certainly did not get it from the bible.

As for the science to why people are darker than others, that is generally explained by a working of particular genes in the body over generations and what genes were available in the pool of people who would marry with one another. If you and your group have the genes that give you darker skin and there is no one around who has genes that regulate to a lighter tone, you simply will not get lighter. This can be easily seen by the children of black and white people who marry is their children will often be a middle tone with some lighter and darker. The Australians also had a program in the older days where they were breading the "black out" of the local aborigines, attempting to turn them in to white people, by paring up lighter Aborigines with the darker ones. The Body also has a particular way of adapting to its environment and while "black" is often associated with the "negro race" or Africans many Asians Indians, Polynesians, Chinese , american Indian ect, have just as dark skin but are not associated with the "negro" genetically nor in biblical decent.

  3. Yes, as Christians in the family of God we should not regard these divisions as reasons to be separated from each other.

1 Corinthians 8:5-6 For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,) 6 but to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.

Galatians 3:27-29 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

Philippians 1:27-28 Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel; 28 and in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that of God.

Why are there any gentiles when after the 'Flood' all humankind supposedly descends from Noah and then Abraham?

As it seems to me, reading the Bible, all people on the Earth are one family or have i missed something?

Yes we are all of one blood (Acts 17:26) and descend from Noah but Noah had three sons Shem, Ham, and Japheth. Gentiles are the general term for Japheth's children (Genesis 10:1-5). At the time of Christ Japheth's children (Roman's rule and Greek's culture) had rule over Shem's and Cannon's (a son of ham) children, fulfilling the prophesy of Genesis 9:27. The Jewish people were the Old Testament Believers, who at the time of Christ, claimed the promises of of God given to Abraham and lived after the covenant of Israel. They called themselves Jews, after the tribe of Judea (one of the tribes of Israel) because after Israel was dispersed in the "Diaspora" (Assyrian and Babylonian dispersion of Israel's tribes), and 70 year after their dispersion (Jeremiah 25:11, 29:10-12), the leaders of Judea's tribe, with some of Levi and Benjamin, were given permission by the Persians to go back and set up the Temple of God in Jerusalem (Ezra 1:1-5). Later, in rebellion against the Greeks/Syrians, they were able to gain independence again, and made the Judean (Jewish) state of Israel, for a short time before coming under the "protection" of Rome. This occupying protection, which they at first saw as an alliance became seen as an occupation. Slowly they saw their Jewish authority being influenced and taken over by the Romans and their Jewish culture influence and taken over by Greek culture (Hellenization). This is why the Jews refereed to all non-Jews as Gentiles because if you did not follow the God of the Jews and their Jewish traditions at the time of Christ then you would be considered a "follower of the Gentile's authority and culture", and therefor a "Gentile", regardless of which son of Noah you were from.

Both of you are all take an no give in this conversation. Despite the fact that the rest of us were forthcoming you insist on answers from us while giving none of your own. Conversations don't work that way. Tell us about yourself. Introduce yourselves and maybe we'll talk more about it and our individual church policies. As it stands the only reason you both joined was to interrogate those on the forum about this hack job of a "report" and you really have no interest in being productive members here.

You as well do not give any solutions as to how to avoid these types of crimes from taking place. Does your particular church have any safeguards in place to prevent this type of abuse?

You both claim to be Independent Fundamental Baptist on your profiles. Yet you both are demanding answers for solutions to these problems. Why don't you ask your own churches? If you want answers from us in addition to the answers your own churches then fine but first, perhaps you can introduce yourselves to the forum by posting your testimonies in the new members section. Who are you both? When and how were you saved? What churches do you go to? Are you involved at you local church? Perhaps if you both are more open about who you all are then the forum members may be more helpful.

Galatians 4:20 I desire to be present with you now, and to change my voice; for I stand in doubt of you.

Opinions or thoughts on the Star-Telegram series from earlier this month on sexual abuse in IFB churches. Thanks!

The "report" is old news rehashing the last 30 years of "IFB" allegations ranging from real criminal concerns and abuse to mere hurt feelings of "he insulted me and made me feel worthless", in order to come up with around 200 "incidents". While this report uses what amounts to about ten or so problem churches enabling , passing around, and covering up these sex perverts. They use it to accuse over 6,000 Independent Baptist  churches, who have done nothing wrong, of being a cult where these things flourish. They are basically bringing it up again because they want to ride the media wave, and distract from the real scandal happening in the catholic church.

  9. The thing with any pastor and church is that you will have to try their spirit. Occasionally a pastor will have to call out a false teacher but their main ministry should be feeding the flock of God that they have been called to. If they are only putting down others and lifting up them selves while teaching very little actual bible doctrine, Then they should be avoided. If they have the Spirit of God in them then you will be encouraged and refreshed and motivated by the preaching and teaching, even when they occasionally have the sad and solom duty of calling out a false teaching or errant brothers.

1 John 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

Acts 20:27-29 For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God. Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. 29 For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.

Philippians 4:7-9 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things arejust, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. 9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

2 Corinthians 10:12-13 For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise. 13 But we will not boast of things without our measure, but according to the measure of the rule which God hath distributed to us, a measure to reach even unto you.

Romans 16:17 Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.

... constant in fighting, slandering, and arrogance of most IFB pastors is what is killing the KJB only to a certain degree.

I would say that the majority of IFB pastors are actually humbly and quietly working and serving in their local areas and are mostly model Christians (There are over 6,000 IFB preachers in America). Its the very few public, limelight teachers (many not even pasotrs or IFB) that spread most of the contention that I have seen which give that impression to the masses who see their bad spirit. And conversely the same attitude in those of the Non-KJB limlight teachers do not help matters any.

  11. Fact is there are two types of Jews just as there are two types of Gentiles. Saved and unsaved. I will go further and say for the blinded Jews that there are two types, those that embrace their OT covenant Heritage and those that don't. To attribute the wickedness of a few anti-Christ Jews to the whole is wicked. This would be like attributing the actions of Israelite Baal worshipers on the OT to King David or equating the evils of the false religious leaders actions to the early Jewish church that gave to us Gentiles the Gospel of salvation. So to today there are lost and blinded Jews that have nothing to do with the actions of the anti-Christ Jews. Fact is that in any nation and culture there are wheat and tares that grow up together. Only at the harvest will they be separated by God and the angels and We are warned not to attempt to pull up the tares ourselves lest we hurt the wheat.

Today the Pro- and Anti- Zionist political movements among Christians have infiltrated our churches and both positions are wrong. One seeks to materially and physically bless the Jew indiscriminately while the other seeks to curse the Jew indiscriminately. Neither side has an interest in their salvation. Rather we are to, as Paul did, seek their salvation while not condoning or enabling wicked actions. Be careful that you are not deceived by the propaganda of the devil regarding the blinded Jew (as Paul too was a blinded Jew who was evilly manipulated by the devil). Most of these modern Pro and Anti Jew groups and ideas are just the two sides of the same evil coin. Fact is that ALL Jews are in a covenant with God by their circumcision. Some will be obedient and circumcise their heart as well but others will be blinded and even others will actively rebel against their covenant by joining their heart to the devil. What we must do as Christians is continue the Great Commission indiscriminately to Jew and gentile alike regardless what the Physical Jew does.

Matthew 13:24-30 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field: 25 but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. 26 But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. 27 So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares? 28 He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up? 29 But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them. 30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.

Matthew 3:7 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

Luke 3:16-17 John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire: 17 whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and will gather the wheat into his garner; but the chaff he will burn with fire unquenchable.

Romans 10:1 Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.

Romans 12:14 Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.

2 Chronicles 19 And Jehoshaphat the king of Judah returned to his house in peace to Jerusalem. 2 And Jehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him, and said to king Jehoshaphat, Shouldest thou help the ungodly, and love them that hate the Lord? therefore is wrath upon thee from before the Lord. 3 Nevertheless there are good things found in thee, in that thou hast taken away the groves out of the land, and hast prepared thine heart to seek God. 4 And Jehoshaphat dwelt at Jerusalem: and he went out again through the people from Beer-sheba to mount Ephraim, and brought them back unto the Lord God of their fathers.

5 And he set judges in the land throughout all the fenced cities of Judah, city by city, 6 and said to the judges, Take heed what ye do: for ye judge not for man, but for the Lord, who is with you in the judgment. 7 Wherefore now let the fear of the Lord be upon you; take heed and do it: for there is no iniquity with the Lord our God, nor respect of persons, nor taking of gifts.

8 Moreover in Jerusalem did Jehoshaphat set of the Levites, and of the priests, and of the chief of the fathers of Israel, for the judgment of the Lord, and for controversies, when they returned to Jerusalem. 9 And he charged them, saying, Thus shall ye do in the fear of the Lord, faithfully, and with a perfect heart. 10 And what cause soever shall come to you of your brethren that dwell in their cities, between blood and blood, between law and commandment, statutes and judgments, ye shall even warn them that they trespass not against the Lord, and so wrath come upon you, and upon your brethren: this do, and ye shall not trespass. 11 And, behold, Amariah the chief priest is over you in all matters of the Lord; and Zebadiah the son of Ishmael, the ruler of the house of Judah, for all the king’s matters: also the Levites shall be officers before you. Deal courageously, and the Lord shall be with the good.

  12. I think its dangerous to paint Anderson's "followers" with broad strokes or to say that they are only out to get people to say "a prayer". As with any person with false or errant beliefs that would come to our church, seeking a place to serve, and who share with us their views, to see where our common ground is, we should never write them off as "part of that cult". Rather the pastors who deal with them should treat them with long suffering and compassion, and should also be ready to answer their questions with clear scripture and not just baptist platitudes. To me Anderson's "followers" have the same spirit as the Ruckman "followers" of the past. Filled with crazy ideas from the non local crazy "TV Personality" but if treated right can make great level headed church workers and their wrinkles can be ironed out over time as they study the scripture in the local church. They can't get that if we all push them away to Anderson's franchise churches.

  13. Keep in mind many of them were saved because of his ministry or were nominal Christians that would not have had any interest at all in going to church, much less an independent baptist one, before stumbling on to his videos online. So any exposure to passionate doctrine has only been by his videos. While many of them will bring up Anderson's unique doctrines, most just want a place to humbly serve in soulwinning and are reasonable when making clear they are welcome if they do not speak against the church doctrine. Granted there are trolls and trouble makers in the mix but those usually don't last long.

Refuting a reasonable Arminian’s arguments against Calvinism.

Brother Will, all of us Baptist here familiar with your work and research on the King James Bible issue appreciate you alot. However, you will find very few of us here really care very much for Reformed theology's in house arguments which ultimately amounts to a technical argument between Theodore Beza and his student Arminius. In their insatiable desires to prove there own ideas about HOW God moves and keeps people in salvation they both ignore clear contexts in order to prove the other wrong. Most of us here are Contextual Bible Christians and Not "Reformed theology" Christians so do not care very much for even the flawed theology that frames this argument between two groups of people who are on the opposite sides of the SAME wrong non-contextual theology.

  15. Because of our small size we do not have an "alter call" but I do say to get a hold of me after the service if they need to be dealt with on a matter. While there are abuses and misunderstandings of its purpose (as with anything) its actually not a bad practice. An alter is basically a place where you give something over to the LORD. The Levitical sacrifices for example were about: 1. Giving your whole life to God or dedicating yourself to a specific purpose (burnt offering) 2. Giving your tithes or first fruits (Meat offering) 3. Making peace with God on an issue (peace offering) 4. Giving over a sin to God and asking forgiveness for committing it (Sin offering) 5. Asking forgiveness for not reverencing something holy or for treating a holy thing in a common way (trespass offering). All of these are now dealt with at or around the "Lord's table" instead of an actual alter.

I was thinking about this whole subject and Salyan piping in at this point, and I wondered why it is exactly that the Canadians, who are a part of the Commonwealth (even though they aren't, but they still are....) drive their cars on the wrong side?

If you are in the same Commonwealth does that mean you are just a Southern Canadian? Or are they northern Aussies? or are you all just displaced British?  ? ?

Wow, that many? I wasn't counting. I think maybe limiting the ability to create new main post to like one or two a day but still be able to comment on the forum would be reasonable for most new members. Even regular members hardly ever post more than a few new topics. Even our teachers here don't open new topics very often. Usually if there were more than one or two in a day it was by a false teacher trying to overwhelm the forum and had no real interest in actually teaching or clearly answering honest questions.

Yabruf, are you an adherent to the teachings of Steven Anderson?

The Reprobate doctrine is certainly not limited to Anderson's Camp in the IFB. I also hold to a reprobate doctrine. Its clear in scripture that there are people who God had stopped dealing with and in full knowledge freely reject God and fully accept the devil as their father. Where most would disagree is in being able to determine who is Reprobate with certainty. Paul appeared outwardly reprobate but obtained mercy because he did not know and many outwardly alternative lifestyles appear reprobate and are on that path to destruction but are actually confused victims of sodomite Reprobates.

John 6:43-45 Jesus therefore answered and said unto them, Murmur not among yourselves. 44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. 45 It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.

Romans 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;... 28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;...32 who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

John 8:43-45 Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word. 44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. 45 And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not.

1 Timothy 1:12-13 And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry; 13 who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.

  19. In regard to "Replacement theology" I want to point out that "commonwealth", in the overall context of Ephesians 2 and the rest of the bible, does not mean the Gentiles are now in the same physical or "spiritual" country called "Israel" but rather only share in the same economy and governance. We Join in to the same "household of God" by faith and in the "Body of Christ" but in regard to the nations, they still remain separate nations, even into the millennium. We partake in Israel's "common wealth" of faith but not Israel itself. Some natural branches of God's "household of faith" were broken off because they did not have faith but gentiles were graphed in because they did have faith. An example of this in the past was seen in the British commonwealth with Canada, Australia, south Africa, and India, etc who joined in a shared economy and shared style of governance with the Queen as their symbolic head but remained independent countries. So too we Gentiles of faith join the OT saints of faith in heavenly places with Christ but do not join into the nation of Israel itself nor with their particular covenant unless by "Circumcision of Moses" (Acts chapters 15, 21 and Exodus 12:48).

  20. Luck is truly biblical when it comes to Pot-Luck Dinners at church, I'm sure it and "casserole" are from transliterated Greek or Hebrew words for freewill meat offerings or something. Either way it is a tradition handed down to us by faithful men and women and it has been very beneficial to the body of Christ. So we are very lucky to have it.

  21. I went to one church down south, a long while ago, that the women had gotten spare modesty attachments for dresses. They were about the size of a hand towel and attached to the garment. If a new person came and was clear they were trying but just didn't know how to cover properly, one of the older ladies would kindly take here aside and explain the churches modesty requirements and show her how to attach it. Typically those who dressed immodestly did not come on their own but were invited by a conservative relative who would take them aside, so there was not to big of a problem with it for them.
