  1. Obedience to your parents as children is a fundamental building block in the childhood of any person. On the practical level this passage emphasizes the importance of obeying the instruction and boundaries good parents can instill into their children as they grow. Yet also, on a deeper level, the passage challenges the wise to recognize our Spiritual Father (God) and Mother (The Scriptures). In all this we see also the importance to have good parents to be instructed by because who our parents will determine who we can become (Good or Bad parents can only teach us what they know). As we go deeper, we see how we can also follow other "father figures" and "mother figures" in addition to our physical and Spiritual parents. We show also how to determine what your parent figures are in your life and how you can determine if the deserve this role and if they are good or bad. (Preached Sunday Evening, 12-11-2022, by Pastor John Young, at Maranatha Bible Baptist Church, 16990 S 38th St, Mendon, MI 49072, Between Fulton and Menden in Wakeshma Township, Near Kalamazoo and Battle Creek in South West Michigan, https://www.facebook.com/MbbcFulton) Proverbs 1:7-10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction. 8 My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother: 9 for they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck. 10 My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.
  2. The Proverbs were compiled for two reasons. The first was to teach the Youth and simple people practical wisdom and advice for daily living. The second was to teach the wise and aged people to understand hard and dark sayings and to teach advanced Spiritual matters. This was done by intricately weaving and distilling grand themes of scripture into simple practical sayings called proverbs. When received they could be used by the simple to keep safe and prosper in a harsh and difficult world and by the wise they could be meditated upon to know the mind and nature of God. In this we also see how the Book of Proverbs sets the foundation of biblical hermeneutics and proper methods in studying the allegorical meanings of the scripture without divorcing it form their proper context and meanings. In the proverbs we learn how Parables, Proverbs, Signs, Allegory and other dark bible sayings are formed and developed by the Prophets and Apostles of old. (Audio issues resulted in the last few minutes of the sermon getting cut off) (Preached Sunday Evening, 12-4-2022, by Pastor John Young, at Maranatha Bible Baptist Church, 16990 S 38th St, Mendon, MI 49072, Between Fulton and Menden in Wakeshma Township, Near Kalamazoo and Battle Creek in South West Michigan, https://www.facebook.com/MbbcFulton) Proverbs 1:1-9 1 The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel; 2 to know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding; 3 to receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity; 4 to give subtilty to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion. 5 A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels: 6 to understand a proverb, and the interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings. 7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction. 8 My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother: 9 for they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck.
  3. He teaches against a certain type of hyper-dispensationalism but he still over divides and wrongly adds to salvation. Anyone who adds man's efforts, works or law keeping, in ANY dispensation to gain eternal salvation is wrongly dividing a work that belongs to God alone. Eternal salvation of the soul by GOD has ALWAYS been and will ALWAYS be by Faith in Christ Alone. Though they may not have known the method of salvation (on a Cross) nor received the promise before us (had to wait with Abraham) they always had faith on the object of their salvation which was Christ. Anyone who teaches otherwise is wrong and hyper-dispensational. You can follow him if you want but I stand by my statements. Hebrews 11:39-40 And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise: 40 God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.
  4. Many treat the issues of sin and corrupt flesh as something they must handle in their own power and think they are still obligated to "maintain their own salvation" by . In Romans 7 Paul the Apostle shows that Salvation by Faith in Christ is not something we have on our own but is marital in nature. The moment we are Saved by Christ we become one Spirit with him and and become part of His household. No longer do we struggle alone with our sin and corruption, while bound by our "old husband", the Law of God, by ourselves but our "head of household", Jesus Christ takes our burdens upon Himself to deal with. No longer do we maintain our own selves but Christ maintains OUR salvation. We no longer stand or fall by our works but rather by His standing before God OUR father. In this message we compare and contrast Salvation by Faith with that of a person before marriage with that of a person after marriage and how that even in our earthly marriages relationships change. So too we should learn to understand how things change by Spiritual marriage by faith in Christ. (Preached Sunday morning, 1-16-2022, by Pastor John Young, at Maranatha Bible Baptist Church, 16990 S 38th St, Mendon, MI 49072, Between Fulton and Menden in Wakeshma Township, Near Kalamazoo and Battle Creek in South West Michigan, https://www.facebook.com/MbbcFulton)
  5. Many think Saving Faith (in Christ alone without works or law) is a "free ticket to sin". Apostle Paul uses two very powerful truths and examples about our new life as believers to show why this type of thinking is very wrong. In the first example he shows, by Baptism, how we are made one with Christ in our Spirit, not only giving us eternal life but also a quickened life. A quickened life, he shows, kills our old man (the soul with a dead spirit) and gives us a New Man in it's place (the soul with a living human spirit fused in unity with Christ's Spirit). This new life naturally changes our desires. In the second example he shows our employment has changed. We have a new boss and economy. Our old man earned wages from sin unto death (temporary gratification but eternal damnation) but the New man can only receive rewards unto eternity (fruit unto righteousness). The old man's wages remain in the corrupted flesh and will pass away but the rewards of rigtiousenes last into eternity. Paul then shows that is is the believer who then has the choice to continue to work for an old boss who can pay nothing or to grow fruit unto rigtiousenes that can have eternal rewards beyond a temporary life of sin. (Preached Sunday morning, 12-19-2021, by Pastor John Young, at Maranatha Bible Baptist Church, 16990 S 38th St, Mendon, MI 49072, Between Fulton and Menden in Wakeshma Township, Near Kalamazoo and Battle Creek in South West Michigan, https://www.facebook.com/MbbcFulton)
  6. In us we have two natures that are not our own but are seeking the affections of our (soul's) faith. One (is in the flesh) the lust of our corrupted flesh from Adam's sin, leading to death, and the other (is in our spirit) the light of Christ's Spirit seeking to quicken us, leading to life eternal. Both we are born with and feel their effects. Nether was our choice to be born with but we are influenced by them and given the choice to which we will submit to in faith. In this message we deal with the natural physical and spiritual headship of the two men and what they give to ALL people simply by virtual of being born naturally into the world. We then deal with what happens when we willfully give our faith over to one or the other. (Preached Sunday morning, 12-12-2021, by Pastor John Young, at Maranatha Bible Baptist Church, 16990 S 38th St, Mendon, MI 49072, Between Fulton and Menden in Wakeshma Township, Near Kalamazoo and Battle Creek in South West Michigan, https://www.facebook.com/MbbcFulton)
  7. In Saving Faith our standing before God is no longer based on our merit or law keeping, but rather on Christ. In Christ we can stand secure for we stand or fall by His merit before God. Scripture is clear. The only way we can fall from salvation is if Christ falls first. And that can never happen! Therefore we have an eternally secure standing (Eternal Security) in Christ! In this message we deal with our standing before God. Before being placed in Christ by faith we stood alone before God and must maintain our own righteousness before him. After being placed in Christ we no longer stand alone in our righteousness but rather partake in the Righteousness of Christ, which Christ keeps. We now move from falling on our own abilities to a place of standing secure in Christ. We show how the believer then partakes in all benefits that Christ enjoys with God without the danger of losing God's favor. In addition to an eternally secure standing we also have other benefits by being in Christ which we deal with in this message; such as peace with God (as a son and not an enemy), free access to God by grace (instead of law), and the continual receiving of strength (to grow in Spiritual grace of Christ's Life, rather than struggling in fleshly fear, as if trying to maintain our own feeble standing). (Preached Sunday morning, 12-5-2021, by Pastor John Young, at Maranatha Bible Baptist Church, 16990 S 38th St, Mendon, MI 49072, Between Fulton and Menden in Wakeshma Township, Near Kalamazoo and Battle Creek in South West Michigan, https://www.facebook.com/MbbcFulton)
  8. Nope. All Baptist churches are simply independent churches that Identify as having Believers Baptism (confessional faith) as opposed to Catholic Communal baptism (communal faith). Even then all the conventions can do is exclude the church from convention activities and resources. They can't really do much more than that.
  9. Baptist churches have to make those decisions for themselves. If an organization outside of the church made that decision for them then it would not be a Baptist church in the first place. Baptist churches are autonomous and only Christ has the right to direct them.
  10. Saving Faith that Gives us the Righteousness of God, for Eternal Life, did not began in the New Testament but was and is available for all who believe. Romans 4 is very clear that the Salvation we have, Abraham, our "father of faith" also had and received it in the same way we do today. In this chapter Apostle Paul clearly details how God's Righteousness was imputed to Abraham by Faith Alone, without works. In this he notes it was granted because "Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness." (Romans 4:3 and Genesis 15:6). He then goes into detail explaining that it was before circumcision or any covenant, Law, or work. He then ends the passage with showing us that Abrahams faith for Righteousness is the same as our faith, without difference and was given to us as the example to follow. In this message we touch on the error of "dispensational salvation" which attempts to divide up the manner of salvation (typically trying to include works, nationality, or covenant as a requirement) depending on when they live or what knowledge they had and the focus of salvation (faith merely in the physical act in time). We note just as death and condemnation of sin is the same, so too is the manner of salvation, by Believing on Christ for God's Righteousness (John 8:56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.). We show how God's Promise to Abraham to be a father of many nations and to give him a son was about Saving Faith and the Coming of Christ to give that salvation, Isaac being an "Earnest payment" of that future promise of Saving Faith. We show it is unto all and upon all who believe in Christ (and not necessarily only on those who had full knowledge of certain events within time). In other words it is granted by faith in God's promise of salvation and Christ's ability to save us and not based on our knowledge of or faith in events that occurred within time ("God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were."). (Preached Sunday morning, 11-28-2021, by Pastor John Young, at Maranatha Bible Baptist Church, 16990 S 38th St, Mendon, MI 49072, Between Fulton and Menden in Wakeshma Township, Near Kalamazoo and Battle Creek in South West Michigan, https://www.facebook.com/MbbcFulton)
  11. To live eternally before God we must have prefect Righteousness (Purity of heart) but the Law shows us our hearts are not pure before God. As we grow, being born innocent and in our own righteousness, we eventually receive understanding of sin, and sin in our corrupt nature will continually work to condemn and destroy us. Try as we might to keep ourselves clean the world and corruption of our flesh will cause us to fall short of His Holy standard which condemns us and causes the death of our spirit. By our own ability we cannot attain nor maintain God's pure standard but God has established another way of meeting the standard, separate of ourselves, by sending Christ who obtained and maintains that Righteous standard from God for us all who believe on Him. By Believing in Christ for God's Righteousness, we then are partakers in Christ and all his gifts. In essence salvation is by rejecting our our own self ownership and ability to pay our debt and allowing Christ to stand in our place of judgement before God. We believe Christ can and will pay for us. This also means our relationship before God is no longer based on law and debt but it is now determined by Christ's standing before God. Because this standing has nothing to do with us or the law, our works, or rituals, then it is not up to us to do anything to keep it. All we are to do is believe that it is unto all and upon all that believe. (Preached Sunday morning, 11-21-2021, by Pastor John Young, at Maranatha Bible Baptist Church, 16990 S 38th St, Mendon, MI 49072, Between Fulton and Menden in Wakeshma Township, Near Kalamazoo and Battle Creek in South West Michigan, https://www.facebook.com/MbbcFulton)
  12. Upon hearing that Eternal Salvation is obtained simply by trusting God by Faith alone, many become quick to accuse Apostle Paul of treating the Law and Covenants, and being a Jew, as worthless. Paul is quick to correct this misconception by answering a series of hypothetical and common questions that many ask in attempt refute Faith alone. With answering theses questions Paul shows that Eternal salvation is by faith alone and still hold to the values of the Law, importance of Righteous living and in keeping the covenants by them whom God has given them. Put simply everything God has given retains its value and purpose. Rather, the error is in attempting to obtain or keep eternal salvation in a ways God never ordained. In this message we also deal with the importance of not erroring in extremes such as trying to obtain Eternal salvation by the law to the opposite extreme of living lawless, simply because laws do not convey eternal life. We show how both extreme false doctrines are not the result of a true saving faith in Christ but rather the result of our own corrupts minds. Saving faith is a result of a heart that fears God's righteous judgements and knowing they are rightly condemned, throws themselves upon God's mercy, having faith that God will redeem by Christ's Sacrifice and restore us to eternal life by His Saving Spirit. (Preached Sunday morning, 11-07-2021, by Pastor John Young, at Maranatha Bible Baptist Church, 16990 S 38th St, Mendon, MI 49072, Between Fulton and Menden in Wakeshma Township, Near Kalamazoo and Battle Creek in South West Michigan, https://www.facebook.com/MbbcFulton)
  13. Having seen with disgust and horror the full extent of those who reject the law of God, Apostle Paul now turns his focus on those of us who try to keep the law but fail. He powerfully shows that the same law that justly condemns the reprobate to hell also justly condemns us to hell as well, we who wish to keep the law of God but can't. The reason we can't is because the nature of man is equally corrupt in all of us. While we may not manifest outwardly the horrible sins of the reprobate, and compared to them we mistakenly see ourselves as good, the inward secrets of our heart are just as corrupt and will be judged by Christ as our standard of lawful perfection, to which we all fall short. In this message we show the futility of trying to obtain or maintain our Salvation through law keeping as none of us can keep it perfectly, which is what the law demands. Thinking that you, with a wicked nature, can be saved by partially keeping the law, or thinking you can obtain salvation by being part of a privileged group (Jew, or Church member) or covenant (Israelite), or having done some ritual (Circumcision, Baptism, etc.) is also refuted. We show how that the moment the law is broken by us, we no longer can obtain by it: glory, honour, immortality, or eternal life, but rather the moment we break it, we justly can only expect indignation, wrath, tribulation and anguish from God. (Preached Sunday morning, 10-24-2021, by Pastor John Young, at Maranatha Bible Baptist Church, 16990 S 38th St, Mendon, MI 49072, Between Fulton and Menden in Wakeshma Township, Near Kalamazoo and Battle Creek in South West Michigan, https://www.facebook.com/MbbcFulton)
  14. There are certain men in our world, Reprobate to the truth, that know the truth of God, both Natural and Spiritual, yet not only reject His truth, but seek to turn others from the truth of God. These men, having been shown by God the right way to live, through natural, internal spiritual witness, and verbal revelation of scripture, have knowingly rejected God's way for their own lust and pride. Having been rejected by God and knowing God opposes their evil lust, they then seek to make a world without God so that they can draw others into their delusions. This type of person, having followed the full extent of their rejection of God, can be seen today in the Reprobate Sodomites, sons of Belial (the Devil), who seek to corral and label their victims into LGBTQ+ identities and in the ongoing and growing exploitation of the evil sex slave trades. In this message we show how such men are made, their descent into depravity, how they lead away their victims down their reprobate trail, their mutilation of self and others, their accumulation of venereal diseases and their just condemnation by God. We also show how the believer can push back against the wickedness, help save their victims, and create an environment for the truth of God to thrive in our communities. (Preached Sunday morning, 10-17-2021, by Pastor John Young, at Maranatha Bible Baptist Church, 16990 S 38th St, Mendon, MI 49072, Between Fulton and Menden in Wakeshma Township, Near Kalamazoo and Battle Creek in South West Michigan, https://www.facebook.com/MbbcFulton)
  15. Try Local Church Bible Publishers. As they are a church ministry, their bibles are at cost. Many are leather and very good quality materials. All are under $80 and well priced. http://localchurchbiblepublishers.com/bibles/?filter_items=bibles
  16. Paul the Apostle wanted to meet the Believers who were in Rome because he kept hearing about their faith in many of the places he visited. Unfortunately, his third missionary trip was coming to a close and he had to go back to Jerusalem to meet with the Jerusalem church and to fulfill his Nazarite vow that he made for his nation Israel. So not knowing when he would ever get to meet them in person, he decided to send them a letter, while he was in Corinth, to establish their faith in the Gospel of Christ. While the four Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John focuses primarily on the life of Christ to show the Aspects of the Gospel, Paul, in his letter wanted to focus on the Doctrine aspects the Gospel. Primarily on how the Gospel saves us and why we need to be saved in that particular way, and how to identify and reject false ideas about the Gospel. Particularly in relation to living by Faith verses living by the law or by doing Good deeds. In this message we focus on where Paul got his gospel message (from the Old Testament prophets and Christ himself) and why he wanted to tell them in Rome this Gospel (to Establish them in their faith). (Preached on Sunday morning, 10-10-2021, by Pastor John Young, at Maranatha Bible Baptist Church, 16990 S 38th St, Mendon, MI 49072, Between Fulton and Menden in Wakeshma Township, Near Kalamazoo and Battle Creek in South West Michigan, https://www.facebook.com/MbbcFulton)
  17. We do need to conform and challenge our ideas and teachings to that of the scriptures but too often the call for "challenge what you have been taught" comes from peddlers of long disproven, faulty, and bad teaching that tradition, scriptures, and plain family values has weeded out long ago, yet wishes to root itself back in again. When we take the lead of learning from such people without first being grounded in fundamental truth proven over lifetime of family learning, then the end result is one of shifting sands and unsure foundations.
  18. "Although eggs, in general, were a traditional symbol of fertility and rebirth,[2] in Christianity, for the celebration of Eastertide, Easter eggs symbolize the empty tomb of Jesus, from which Jesus was resurrected.[3][4][5] In addition, one ancient tradition was the staining of Easter eggs with the colour red "in memory of the blood of Christ, shed as at that time of his crucifixion."[3][6] This custom of the Easter egg, according to many sources, can be traced to early Christians of Mesopotamia, and from there it spread into Eastern Europe and Siberia through the Orthodox Churches, and later into Europe through the Catholic and Protestant Churches.[6][7][8][9] Other sources maintain that the custom arose in western Europe during the Middle Ages as a result of the fact that Western Christians were prohibited from eating eggs during Lent, but were allowed to eat them when Easter arrived.[10][11]" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Easter_egg
  19. While threr is "better terminology" to use, I have no problem with asking people to accept Christ that way. The concept is taken from various passages dealing with the heart and the work Christ does within our hearts. One of the passages is: Ephesians 3:14-19 For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15 of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, 16 that he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; 17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; 19 and to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. Matthew 7:7-9 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: 8 for every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. 9 Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?
  20. First I would like to say I am not opposed to his or any IFB pastors' ministry or soulwinning efforts, and I have defended Brother Anderson, and will continue to defend any preacher, against false allegations. However, I could not minister with him for two reasons: 1. His errant belief that the church is the New Testament Israel and errant belief that "Old Testament" and "Israeli National covenant" are the same thing. Acts 15 and 21 clearly shows they are separate. (his errant end times doctrine also stems from this error) 2. He rejects the Apostle's Doctrine whenever the Apostles contradict his NIFB teaching. Particularly when they clearly state Israel is NOT the church he and other NIFB preachers openly say the Apostles were wrong in Acts 15 and 21. Pull up any of their videos and you will see any NIFB taking point clearly trumps any teaching that that an OT Prophet, Apostle or early church pastor such as James teaches. They give various excuses as to why the Apostles are wrong anytime they contradict. It is the Apostles duty to set doctrine of the church and not ours. Acts 2:42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.
