I am not sure I understand or agree with all of what Omega wrote, although I could agree with portions of it. He seems to zero in on the word "forever", which only speaks to the two verses I supplied which seem to declare that the earth will never cease to exist. This does nothing to address the Scriptures that show that this earth, the universe and even the elements that make up all things will cease to exist.
In the following verse the Scripture uses the word "create" in referring to a new heavens and earth. The word "create", as used in Scripture indicates something brought into existence from nothing: Isa 65:17  For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.
In this context swathdiver's statement that:  "The earth still exists, it's just remade." flies in the face of the definition of the word "create".
And let's remember what I asked in the beginning. How would you reconcile the differences in a teaching situation. This means more than just saying something about this subject, it needs to be able to be taught using Scripture.

The sad thing is that I believe that video clip was taken at the Baptist church pastored by Keith Gomez and they run Providence Baptist College. It’s ridiculous false teaching.

This is in contrast to weary warrior's beautiful late summer picture, also taken in Alaska. Notice that it is a different season.

So according to this false teacher, worshipers will go unto Jerusalem and say, "let's go see God with us?" Or in the Millennium, I don't know of anything in scripture to indicate that any one of the many names by which we know Him -- our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the king of kings and lord of lords -- will be discontinued in the Millennium, nor do I know of any reason why any should be.  This is internet nonsense on the internet: garbage in results in garbage out, after all, so only spiritual damage is likely to ensue.
That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Philippians 2:10)
My name is Danny or Daniel, which in the Hebrew means "God is my judge". My family or friends don't say, "Hey, let's go visit God is my judge" instead of Danny or Daniel. Not quite a perfect example of what Sam Gipp said, but they are both along the lines of semantical nonsense.

Yes, that it true, church first. Being a new church we have lunch after the morning service then follow that with an afternoon service. While I enjoy watching football, the enjoyment does not compare to being in church.

I just preached last Sunday, (yesterday) on the subject of contending for the faith, and much of what is being discussed here goes right along with it.
Churches are dying, spiritually, because many churches don't contend for the faith. The reason we are told to contend, is because men creep in unawares and begin to change things, turning grace into lasciviousness, which can refer to sexual or spiritual promiscuity-and there is no shortage of either in many churches. The people miss when a wolf enters, wearing the garb of the sheep, and begin to gain trust, then change things. Soon the good IFB, KJV-preaching, God-loving, truth-preaching hymn-singing churches have a plethora of versions, rock and roll "worship" and are bringing any old heretic in who claims Christ, to teach and preach.
Contending must be an active, continual thing, with the eye always firmly on the Lord and His perfect word. A church needs to stop depending on the pastor to hold it together, and start demanding he preach truth and stay the course, or toss him and bring in someone who will.
Godly preachers need to contend by training up young men and women who will be the next generation, men who will be the next leaders, the next preacher, not toss them off to universities and other churches to be lost from them. No, raise them up in truth and then, when the preacher can no longer do the job, you already know what the next pastor will teach, because they have been raised up and fed on the best home-grown food. It is a constant, continual to fight, against men and devils, to maintain the truth and purity of a local church. And we teach those coming up to fight and contend, as well, so they will teach the next after them, ad so on, til Christ returns.

Omega, I'm not going to lie and say that I understood perfectly everything you just said. But I will say that I appreciate the respectful, courteous way you said it, and that you were clearly not correcting the English with the Greek. We don't get enough of that these days with doctrinal discussions, and it's refreshing. Thank you.

    Hi Bro Jim,
    There a two issues here:
    1) Old Testament prophetic expression and the phrases translated "forever" in many translations of the Bible does not necessarily mean by that word in the actual Bible what we mean by it in English word "forever" depending on its context  One biblical phrase which makes clear what the Bible really means is "from the ages to the ages" -- which is often rendered "forever" -- but it can also mean, in biblical terms, "kingdom come".  Although there are several passages that also interpret the Hebrew word ("olam") to literally mean "forever" or "everlasting" (Dan. 12:2.) So there really is no contradiction seen from the biblical point of view that everything will remain as it is until "the end", and there is an "end", which is also a new beginning. So the correct context would determine how to reconcile those passages. The common theme in the book of Ecclesiastes is vanity, nothingness, or futility. Vanity is never based on or predicated on God's Work or work done through the power of the Holy Spirit. All our works outside of God's Will is futility, and will not have everlasting value, for it will perish ultimately, while the Earth and its cycles will continue long after we're physically dead. One of the reason as to why Jesus said, "Labor not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life..." (Jn. 6:27). Our works done by the Holy Spirit will abide forever, while our others are burnt up.
    2) The universe will be completely destroyed as some of the passages you quote make clear; but it will be replaced by "new heavens" and a "new earth", a cosmos in which only "righteousness dwelleth".  But even the the earth will be destroyed completely, what replaces it will be "earth", the "new earth", but still "the earth".  Think of it this way:  our present body may be turned completely to dust and/or completely destroyed (as surely has been the case for Adam and Eve etc.), but in the bodies of Adam and Eve will still be Adam and Eve in their resurrection in their new bodies. This is analogous to what happens to the earth; it is still the earth; but it completely transformed into something much better, just as in the case of our resurrection bodies.  The Greek word for "new" (kainos) literally means NEW in the most possible sense, The Jehovah's Witnesses argue that the word "new" refers to a "remodeled" or "renovated" Earth, when most of the times it refers to something literally new (Matt. 9:17; 27:60; Lk. 5:36; 2 Pet. 3:13; Rev. 2:17; 14:3; 21:1). So in this case too focusing too much on "new" and not enough on "earth" can be misleading. Much of this has to do with the way we think in English and what we imagine is possible and not possible from English. This age comes to an end; this earth comes to an end; this body comes to an end.  But the age to come, the earth to come, and the resurrected body to come truly are "forever" in every conceivable way, regardless of issues of language and interpretation.
    God Bless,
    Daniel

    Just sayin.
Oh, by the way, we will be in our regular spots Sunday Morning and Sunday Night and we will have everyone there because my Pastor makes a big deal about showing up for the Lord's Worship on Super Bowl Sunday as a testimony to all who know us.

I don't care anything about it at the best of times, so if they were to invade my church with it, I fear I would have to ... misbehave. The kneeling during the anthem took something that was simply uninteresting to me and turned it into an anathema.

I was in a conversation with a good friend of mine in Western Colorado this morning. He had contacted me with some questions about the ballistics of a certain hunting rifle I have, and in course of the conversation, the subject of church and my seeking God's will came up. He said that there is a big need for a good church where he is, and he knows several people who would come right off if one was started. We had a good conversation about the overall church situation in the area, and both of us have begun prayer for the Lord's specific leading and guidance in this. I would really appreciate it if anyone would join us in prayer about this. I worked there for several months in the oilfields a couple of years ago, and love the area. I have a number of contacts there, and my family loved it as well. I just want to be sure of his guiding. My parents in Kentucky will encourage us to go where ever God leads, even if it means not being close to them.

The "worship team" must have quite the dilemma.
    I mean, think about it:
If I turn the screen off at halftime, how do I know when to stop the service?
If I leave the screen on with the sound off, will folks be distracted by the halftime show?
If I leave the screen on AND the sound on, do I have conflicting songs from the "praise band" and halftime marching band?
If I turn the screen off, will people be watching the halftime show on their personal devices?
If I allot time for bathroom and drink breaks at the beginning and end of the service, how much time do I have without missing 3rd Qtr kick-off?
If I skip the service, these people could be at home.
If I skip the game, these people may very well be at home.

I think I need a raise, will someone make such a motion?

Let me start out by saying that I love sports, but rarely watch them anymore but still follow scores on my phone. With the Superbowl coming up next week, I see a lot of churches in this area hosting Superbowl services. They will watch the Superbowl, and have a service at halftime. Have we become so culture orientated that our services are more about culture now than they are about worshiping Jesus?

WW is right on the mark and echos what I have said on this forum many times. To me there is no substitute for local churches training the men who have been called to preach in that same church.
To send  our future preachers off to bible colleges where they will be exposed to and encouraged in lazy preaching practices, not taught proper study methods, exposed to worldly musical standards  and easy believism is a recipe for disaster. This will ensure that future IFB churches will continue to follow the easy path of modern day Laodicean  practices.
Many, if not most, of the colleges today are turning out graduates that are ill equipped to pastor and many are hardly even grounded in  Baptist Church Polity and doctrine. This is hardly the way to  follow the Apostle Paul's exhortation to:  2Thes 2:15 Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.
     Tit 1:7 For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;
     8 But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate;
9 Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.
I fear for the future IFB churches that will call unprepared and unqualified men to pastor their churches. I do understand that Jesus has assured us that the gates of hell will not prevail against His church, but am greatly concerned for the spiritual condition of future individual churches that will have to deal with men that are not properly trained and don't even know it.

I have moved the posts between weary warrior and myself to this new thread from The Beauty of Creation. My post and the resulting replies were off of the original topic.
weary warrior, are you familiar with the person or work of Bro. James Dearmore who was a missionary to South Africa out of Rodger's Baptist Church for over 50 years? His work among tribal people exemplified Biblical mission work and teaching. He has now gone to be with The Lord, but his work lives on in the form of tribal pastors that he trained. He and his wife worked under the most dangerous and trying conditions a missionary can experience. Many places he worked were very hostile to both missionaries and Americans. They lived and worked under conditions that threatened their very lives on a daily basis.

I was privileged to meet and get to know this man of God in my early years living in Alaska. My church there supported Bro. James for many years. He was one of what I consider the few remaining old school Baptists. When he became too old for the rigors of tribal mission work he refused to retire and spent the remainder of his years as a missionary out of Rodger's Baptist Church, where he worked daily in electronically publishing The Gospel Web. This website is a wealth of information, as well as sermon material. There is also much information there about his work and the trials he and his wife endured. His work is carried on since his death by his Son, James Dearmore, Jr.

I am not Anti-Bible college by any stretch - I think in some cases it is even a better option than, for instance  being under a pastor who is so exclusionary as to lose sight of some of the important things.
But in my mind (note that this my opinion and therefore worth exactly what you paid for it - nothing!) Big Bible colleges are second best.
They turn out some truly faithful men of God on occasion, but by and large I can't help thinking that God wants a man trained where he is growing, where the Lord planted him.
And of course most of the time men start these colleges with the highest intent, lets not forget that.
    But.....
When you send the most faithful, most involved, most growing man (and/or woman) away, it only weakens your church. If God takes them somewhere  else then all good, but to send thrm away as a matter of course??????
    Sorry folks - rambling now.......

Thanks, all. My hubs is doing pretty well. The hardest thing is that he can't get back there for the funeral.  This is the fourth one...I said earlier in two years, but it's actually closer to one.
Our son is going to try to go to the funeral (he still lives in IN for now), and that helps knowing that our part of the family will be represented.
We are so very thankful that we know Uncle George is in Glory. We know that a good portion of the family is saved, but there are other family members who are not. I would appreciate prayer for them, that the Lord will convict them and draw them to Him.
