Sister Salyan, I am NOT of the mindset that God won't or doesn't revive other Christians, or save unbelievers in other denominations. God can and will do as He pleases. I do think that in instances such as this, that there is a serious question that we need to ask as to the validity of any actual, genuine revival; that question is, would The Lord our God use doctrinal error as His means of revival? Perhaps the problem here is that we just don't know what is being taught doctrinally during these services. It is not beyond the scope of reason or possibility to allow that for this time, in this church, using this pastor, that the truth of God's Word was preached, resulting in revival. One thing I am certain of is, that The Lord our God would not use false doctrine to accomplish revival. Romans 3:8 (KJV) And not rather, (as we be slanderously reported, and as some affirm that we say,) Let us do evil, that good may come? whose damnation is just. By Inspiration of The Holy Spirit, Paul taught this regarding false doctrine: Galatians 1:8 (KJV) But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. So, I guess that what this all boils down to for me is simply this. Doctrine. is the true doctrine of salvation by Grace being preached, or is what is being preached the false doctrine of The Church of God? If it is truth I readily accept it, if it is doctrinal error, I am compelled to reject it as a true revival.

No offence taken at all Bro. Luke. I just find it hard in my own mind to accept that God would work through an apostate church that is a direct result of the Reformation. In that respect I would hesitate to even call it a church, since Jesus only established one kind of church and called it His 1500 years before there was a Church of God. John, I would beg to differ with this that you said: "Everything else doesn't matter" How can doctrinal error result in revival? Things that are different are not the same. Ephesians 4:5 (KJV) One Lord, one faith, one baptism,

I know that this may seem negative, but as an Independent Baptist I have to wonder how someone that is a current pastor in The Church of God, can also be described as "knowledgeable and discerning when it comes to the faith." So this begs the question: "when it comes to the faith" . What faith, The Church of God? So then, if this pastor endorses this revival, what does it say for the revival itself? I don't see this as anything that Baptists should even consider.

Thanks Salyan. I'm not opposed to your suggestion at all. The reason I posted what I did here was because I thought it relevant to the OP since she posted her topic as an Independent Baptist, on an Independent Baptist message board; while at the same time specifically asking for advice about something that contradicts and is the opposite of Independent Baptist. She says "Of utmost importance: It must be through a solid Independent Baptist " and then goes on to say in the same sentence, "mission group/association work." There is no middle ground; it is either Independent or it isn't. The biblical example for mission work is to be sent out of a local Baptist church, which no association can claim to be.

Not trying to be contentious here, but I have to wonder at a seeming "contradiction of terminology" As most here know, I am solid Independent Baptist; as such I have to wonder at the terms, Independent, association, group. To my mind these three terms denote something other than "Independent Baptist." Conventions, associations, groups, conferences and fellowships are not Independent.

WHY? would any Baptist even be looking at a Catholic website, or pay any attention to ANY Catholic teaching? This is the kind of garbage you get when looking to sources other than where God placed you, your local church. If this sounds unkind or accusatory, it is meant to be. I hold no misconceptions about Catholic teaching or motives. They murdered us by the millions for holding to the truth of God's Word. Once again you lump all of a certain identity together (Democrat) Among this classification named Democrat, are individuals. You cannot know that all individuals within this classification support and vote for the things you listed.

That makes sense Tony. If I have to buy chops that number more than I want for one meal, I freeze what I don't need. It is just a personal preference, I would much rather not have them re-heated, the taste seems to suffer some with re-heating.

Not so Bro. Tony. I would think that, at your age you would know how many pork chops you normally eat. I think you and I are close in age; my pork chop number is two any more, when I was young it was six. ?

How is it possible to have left over pork chops?

Some people use them to communicate. Some for work. Some for preparing sermons/

I agree with Pastor Matt. This is a public forum, and as such there was nothing done behind anyone's back. Everything was out in the open and free to be responded to, or not, as members saw fit.

I am not surprised; contemporary is a progressive, slippery slope. Brace yourself, its only going to get worse. 2 Timothy 3:13 (KJV) But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. Just because they say they are Christians does not mean that they cannot be led away. And then there are some that have an agenda unseen by others. Acts 20:30 (KJV) Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.

Salyan, I too thought that he had been here long enough to know that KJV is the only accepted version we use.

God has placed me where He wants me in a local New Testament Church. Why would I seek any other source of teaching and edification? I believe that God knows what is best for me and I see no reason to second guess Him. Having said that; in all of my forty plus years as a Christian, I can honestly say that I have never felt led of God to listen to, or seek out any other pastor or preacher than my own. As for these other preachers: 1 Corinthians 5:6 (KJV) Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?

There is a lot to be said about being careful about what you expose yourself to. Too much confidence in our own abilities, strengths and knowledge can be a trap. 2 Peter 3:17 (KJV) Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.

So, given the inconsistencies, heresy and "made up stuff", why watch it at all?
