Rosie reacted to No Nicolaitans in We need rain...badly!
God bless you for that encouraging post! No, it hasn't rained yet, but all is well for the time being...we continue to hope and pray.

Have you had rain yet, N.N.? Out here in Calif., we had about 3 years of drought...so we understand your need for rain. Isn't it wonderful that our God knows just what you have need of? I pray that in His time that the Lord will send clouds full of moisture to wet the thirst of the land...and in the meantime, that you will be showered with many spiritual blessings!

We have 22 here this year. a whole suckling pig went in the smoker yesterday, I saw a turkey being prepped @ 5 this morning. Peanut butter bon bons and pumpkin pies were finished @ 1 this morning. There will be sweet potato casserole, dressing and gravy, potato salad, corn, roast beef, brownies (with walnuts in them), field peas, and I forget what else they said.
All but one of our 5 children and 10 of our 11 grandchildren (plus 2 to be born in 2017) are here plus a young man (just turned 16) that we'll have here for a couple of years.
Had homemade seafood gumbo for breakfast (leftovers from supper last night).

We are having -
Cornish hens (stuffed)
Potato salad
Cole slaw
Polish Sausages in Horseradish sauce
Nachos with dip
Reuben egg rolls
Strawberry trifle
Peanut butter fudge
German chocolate pie
Pumpkin pie
Apple fritters
We let each member in our family of 6 choose what they want to add to the list for our feast.
This is what we ended up with.
Kind of a fun way to enjoy the day together.
Thank you for a great family Lord!

Rosie reacted to Genevanpreacher in Happy Thanksgiving Everyone
You could do it on your own.
All that's needed is a thankful heart and some family.
A bit of food helps keep those gathering busy and fed.

Rosie reacted to heartstrings in Rod and Staff
:I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest that the "rod" represents the Word of God and the "staff" represents the Holy Spirit. The Word of God corrects, chastises us and keeps us on the right path comforting us with the Truth, while the Spirit leads us, enables for us fellowship with the Father, provides discernment, and power to do God's will and gives the peace which passes all understanding. Both give us comfort like no other. Here are some verses. Psalm 119:50, Psalm 119:165, and John 14:26 But I could be wrong.

Rosie...several years ago I wrote in my own words the story (which I can't find in print) about the "Shepherd and the Lamb". It was in my heart to write it and it does not fail when I read it to have tears well up as I see the absolute love the Lord has for us with both the rod and the staff. What I wrote in my own words is too long for posting here...I think...but I would be willing to email it to you if you'd like?

Rosie reacted to Jim_Alaska in Rod and Staff
You didn't ask me Rosie and Dave may have a better explanation for his reply, but my understanding is that the rod (correction and defense of the believer) and staff (guidance and instruction) Should be a comfort to the believer, as they are to the shepherds flock. They show the Lord's love and care for his sheep (believers).

Rosie reacted to John Young in Making America Great Again
Dr. Dobson's statements were refuted and Trump has never made a public confession as of yet. That said he claims he will be a good friend of Christians.

Get your umbrellas ready, NoNi. (I don't know if you ever read John R. Rice's Prayer: Asking and Receiving, but he tells a story in there about a church who was praying for rain...but came to church without umbrellas. His point being that if they truly believed God would send rain, they'd prepare for it. =D )
I told my hubs about the need. We took it to the Lord and will continue asking God to show Himself mighty on your area's behalf.
