I read through all these suggestions on how to win souls.
And I have to tell you I'm a little disappointed in you all I thought I was reading through a book about being a salesman and selling the salvation of God.
I have to tell you I place greater value upon the salvation of God than any of you.

What a wonderful visit!  I am so glad to see another church that is sticking to the "old paths" and not jettisoning the KJV bible, not changing music standards to rock/ccm which is not Christ honoring music, and teaching a separated lifestyle based on principles found in God's word!  It was nice knowing that even though we have only met online here it was as if I was visiting close family, which in a sense I was since you all are fellow brothers and sisters in Christ.   Your turn now!  Roseburg is only 389 miles south, an easy 6 hour drive!  Love to see you guys visit us!

People need to understand that SCOTUS doesn't have the constitutional authority to throw out a state referendum wherein the people of the state voted to amend their state constitution.  But in this brainwashed society in which we live, folks accept whatever SCOTUS says...totally misunderstanding what state's rights are, and how the 10th amendment limits EVERY branch of federal government.

SCOTUS did put a stay (and it was unanimous) on the federal court decision re: Utah's amendment.  Indiana is getting ready to vote on it - and I believe that when it comes up for a referendum, the citizens of IN will vote to add the same-sex marriage ban to the state constitution.  That falls outside the purview of SCOTUS, because it is the will of the people of said state, in compliance with their state constitution.  But, again, people don't seem to understand what states' rights are...and are so quick to bow to federal government and say, "whatever, big brother."

Sister Ronda, words fail me this morning as I read your announcement. I have prayed for you on reading this post and will continue to pray. Please know that your time here on these forums has not been in vain. Many, myself included have been blessed by not only your presence here, but also by your life, faith, ability and dedication to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
I am also thankful to our God for His mercy, love, grace and promises to be with us through all the storms of life. He has reinforced these things as evidenced by your life and testimony. Thank you for having the courage to share this most intimate information with us. Go with God knowing that you have been loved and appreciated by those who your life has come in contact with.

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ:
I apologize for my lengthy absence from Online Baptist. The past year has been quite difficult and I'd not had the energy to spend the time here I'd hoped. As the Lord permitted, I was given strength to write articles for a Christian publication ("Rapture Ready") for over the last 2-3 years, and spent what energy I had on that.

I also have been away so long I had no idea where to post this, nor under what topic. So please forgive me if I erred. My photo from before has disappeared as well, and I likely didn't upload a replacement properly either.
The news I have to share today is that the time has come not to say "good-bye", but to say: "We'll meet in heaven."
I have stage four cancer. I'm not going to pursue chemo nor radiation (etc.), but have instead signed on for Hospice.
The cancer has spread to lymph nodes and bone (likely other places as well). At least one tumor has also spread to to local areas (invasively) and is inoperable. It would only prolong the suffering to try any attempts at chemo (etc.) at this point.
It's urethral cancer, which is not only rare, but also extremely aggressive. So there isn't much time left. No doctor can give an exact time-line. But the oncologist said 5 months would be the absolute maximum. Honestly? I can't see it being more than a month, maybe two at most (just my opinion - going on how miserable I am and how quickly it's spreading and tumors are enlarging and manifesting here and there). But the Lord alone knows. His will be done.
I do so appreciate prayer. However, I humbly request that none would pray for healing; but instead pray "God's will be done". And if you would, please pray for pain relief and continual relief of pain. I also request that you'd pray for the Lord's comfort for my family and dearest friends during this time. Very much appreciated.
Although I'm saddened that this is hard for my parents, children, grandchildren, and dear friends; I think most of them understand that I'm not (personally) sad about the prognosis. As most know, I've had primary progressive MS, spinal cord disease (syringomyelia) and myriad other health issues for over a decade. Life has been an "existence" for many years. One I appreciated still, but was often very painful and difficult. I've been house-bound and bed-bound for several years now. I am looking forward to a release from the pain and suffering in this life, and anticipating the fulfillment of promises God has made in His word for eternity to come for those who've trusted and believed on Jesus for salvation.
Please don't pity me in the least. "...I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day." (2 Tim.1:12).
God has given me the "peace that passeth understanding" (Phil.4:7) and keeps my heart and mind through Christ Jesus.
I also have the firm comfort and assurance of the pre-trib rapture, wherein all church/grace-age believers will meet the Lord in the air. The "dead in Christ shall rise first", then those who are "alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord."
The Lord will soon give church/grace-age believers incorruptible bodies just like Jesus own glorified body (1 John 3:2; Phil.3:20-21; 1 Cor.15:49-53; 1 Thes.4:13-18; et al) at the rapture.
While some brethren here may disagree with this doctrine, I am fully convinced of the scriptural surety that the rapture is indeed pre-tribulational. And that Jesus has promised to deliver us from the wrath to come (1 Thes.1:10, 5:1-9; Rom.5:9).
So also do I know that scripture proves the rapture to be imminent (nothing need proceed the timing). However, I also believe the rapture is now much more than imminent, but also must soon occur, as much of end time Bible prophecy is aligned in stunning accuracy.
I would never dare set date. Yet we are given to know and discern the season which we are now in.
Brethren and sisters, I do believe that the rapture is so near that should I physically die first, I do believe all in Christ will soon be raptured and we will all meet together in the air.
I very much appreciate the fellowship and past discussion here on OB. So many dear brethren and sisters have touched my life, edified me, and I count you all a blessing. Continue on serving the Lord, knowing that our labor is not in vain in the Lord, and that His word does not return void.
    Much love, See you soon.

May I suggest that you join the forum (as a member, not just a guest)? You can then continue this discussion in the men’s area.

I believe our bodies will be like Jesus's incorruptible.  You will be able to touch and feel and be touched, eat (yeah!), and even pass through walls like Jesus did after his resurrection.  Can't wait to come back as the Lord's host in an incorruptible body.  That will be terrible and fun at the same time.

I won't stop at that.  I plan on hand delivering the CD's and discipling him as much as he will allow.  He was a pleasure to talk to and as you can imagine, very intelligent.  I am hoping we can get into some good bible study.  I may get a chance to ease him into coming to church after our Pastor lays down the law on how he is to be treated.
I have run into the type of situation one other time in my last church 20 years ago when we were in a building program actively erecting a new church building and doing as much of the labor as we could on our own.  Suddenly many of our carpenters, plumbers and electricians disappeared from the church.

I was out soul winning today and ran into a man that had a very solid testimony of salvation entirely by grace through faith with no works.  When I asked what church he goes to, he replied "I can't go to church anywhere unless it's at least a 100 miles away and I can completely hide my profession".  Fearing the worst like he ran one of the local Marijuana dispensaries legal here in Oregon, I asked what is his profession.  He said, "I am a Family Practice Physician".  If I am in a church, as soon as that is found out my phone never stops ringing at all hours of the day and night from church members all wanting and expecting free medical advice and care, or at the least preferential treatment for appointments so their loved one bumps automatically to the top of any wait list.  The abuse I get is so extreme I have stayed away from any churches for years now, though I really miss the preaching.
I was shocked.  Could this actually be true of most churches?  If so, shame on us!

I am afraid I will have to look into this more closely.   I will admit that "end-times prophesy" is by far my least favorite doctrine.  I favor practical Christian living studies over things that will be happening after I am called out of here.  Teach me how to be more like Jesus, not what the Antichrist will look like.

Regarding the original post; salvation is not a system of "do's and don'ts.  Salvation is instead about having the blood of Jesus Christ applied to your heart and soul as payment for your sin. It is about having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, which, if it is real will result in a changed nature that does not "want" to sin.
2Co 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Always remember...the best defense against viruses and malware is...you.
    Keep your system updated.
    Keep your browser updated.
    KEEP YOUR ANTIVIRUS/MALWARE PROTECTION UPDATED.
Be wise in your internet usage. Don't visit questionable sites. Be careful in following links from one site to another.
Don't click on things unless you know what you're clicking on.
Don't click on things that suddenly appear on your screen.
Don't click on links in your email unless you know for certain the email came from someone (or a company) you know personally and trust. You can often hover your mouse over the "From" person/company in the email, and it will show you the actual email address of who it came from. If it looks strange, don't even open the email...delete it.
If after those simple rules, you still get a pop-up that suddenly appears on your screen...DO NOT CLICK ON IT! Look at it closely.
Are any words misspelled? Is it from an actual program that you know is on your computer? Often things look legitimate, but the name will be just a little bit different. This was how I first experienced a virus. The pop-up had the name of my antivirus, but it had added something to the name. I can't remember it now, but let's say for example that I was using Avast at the time (though I wasn't). The pop-up said it was from Avast 2010 instead of just Avast. That's just an example; I hope you get my meaning. Do the words/sentences make normal sense? Many of these things come from other countries, so they may not say things in the right way, or the sentences may not "flow" as they should. If any of that happens...DON'T CLICK ANYTHING. SHUT YOUR COMPUTER DOWN BY HOLDING THE POWER BUTTON IN UNTIL IT TURNS OFF. Then either start the computer back up in Safe Mode (if you know how to do that)...or...disconnect the internet...whether turning off the router or unplugging the Ethernet cable. When you start the computer back up, immediately run a Virus/Malware scan. If that goes well, reconnect your internet, update your antivirus/malware...and scan it again. It's better to be safe than sorry.
No Antivirus/Malware is fool-proof. Your best defense is you...
