  1. This is a very important issue and Scripture makes it very simple: But, Satan has used “religion” to gum it all up. Here is what the Bible says about Salvation...... Romans 10:8-11 V.8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, [even] in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; V.9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. V.10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. V.11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. ➀This tells us, that Salvation includes a “verbal declaration” from us! ➁And that declaration includes the name of Jesus! ➂While simultaneously believing in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead! ➃And(V.11), that those who truly believe, will not be ashamed to make this declaration! ➄Then Verses 13, tells us that this declaration, comes in the form of a “call”(appeal)! ------------------------ Oh, by the way: Verse 14, does not say what most people thinks it says! When you carefully study verses 14-21, you will see that verse 14 is a rebellious challenge to God, by a “disobedient and gainsaying people”. The fact is, the whole world stands “guilty” before God; Even if they have not been visited by a preacher, because of “natural revelation”(V.18).
  2. Greetings to all, and thanks to each of you for sharing in this discussion. Sorry for the confusion, but the main point of this thread is the issue of being drawn away from the "awe", that we should have for God’s Word! The fact is, because it is “God’s Word”, means that not a single word of it, can be a result of man’s intellect or investigation...... (2 Peter 1:20) “Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.” ------------------------ Peter, in trying to get this point across, tells us that any information from “any source”, can not be compared to the supernatural reliability of God’s Word: Not even GOD’S VOICE, SPOKEN FROM HEAVEN! ...... (2 Peter 1:16-19) V.16 ¶ For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty. V.17 For he received from God the Father honor and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. V.18 And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount. V.19 ¶ We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: Even though Peter was an “eyewitness” of God’s voice from heaven, declaring who Jesus was; Peter tells us, that this eyewitness account, “holds less validity” than the words of the Bible! ------------------------ The fact that this is even an issue, on a IFB forum, demonstrates how our attitude about the Bible has been effected by today’s Satanic attacks.
  3. From the very beginning(Genesis 3:1), the target of Satan’s attack has not been on the institution of the Church, but on the Church’s foundation; God’s Word, ... “Yea, hath God said?” The “subtle attack”, that this thread is about is the lie, that Luke was a gentile! On the surface, this may not seem like a very important issue or question; But the door that this opens, is very important. If a Believer is convinced that Luke was a gentile, the door that this opens, is the lie that everything that God used Luke to write, will be influenced by the fact that He is a gentile. ------------------------ The Lord foresaw this lie, therefore he gave us Luke 1:1-4 V.1 ¶ Forasmuch as many have taken in hand to set forth in order a declaration of those things which are most surely believed among us, V.2 Even as they delivered them unto us, which from the beginning were eyewitnesses, and ministers of the word; V.3 It seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write unto thee in order, most excellent Theophilus, V.4 That thou mightest know the certainty of those things, wherein thou hast been instructed. On the surface, this passage seems to support the notion, that the book of Luke, was influenced by Luke’s personal opinions.... “Even as they delivered them unto us, which from the beginning were eyewitnesses, and ministers of the word” This appears to be saying, that Luke was going to relay to Theophilus, information that he had acquired by interviews with “eyewitnesses”. But just as with the rest of the entire Bible, you need to dig deeper(pay closer attention), to get the truth about what is being said. Therefore, it becomes clear when you closely study verses 1-4, that Verse 2, is talking about all the secular writings about the Lord and His life that were being written. But then we come to verses 3 & 4. In Luke 1:3, Luke tells us, that what he says in Luke, comes from a “perfect understanding of all things”. By the way, no human being can have “a perfect understanding of all things”! We are all sinners and all of “our opinions” have been tainted by sin! Therefore, where did Luke get this “perfect understanding”. Look at the next 4 words, “from the very first”. These 4 English words, are translated from 1 Greek word(anothen), and in this context, that means “from the LORD”! Other places you find this word is....... "Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again." (John 3:7) and "Jesus answered, Thou couldest have no power [at all] against me, except it were given thee from above: therefore he that delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin." (John 19:11) ------------------------ Therefore the LORD used Luke to give us GOD’S WORDS, not man’s words! And if we can be convinced that Luke was a Gentile, than this is a subtle attack on God’s Word!
  4. Hello Ukulelemike I found your last posting here very interesting. We can learn lots of lessons from it. It is clear, that Satan is still hard at work, keeping everybody as far away from the true meaning of the “Easter” as he can. But there are some things that bother me about your post. ------------------------ First you said...... “And here I thought most of us disregarded making our primary arguments based on the Greek, since the 'original Greek' doesn't exist......” This is true, but it is “a lie”: The lie, that unbelievers have been feeding us for a little over 100 years now. Although the original autographs do not exist, God’s Word has not been lost: God preserved it in the thousands of “reliable copies” that He saw to it, were kept for us in the “Majority Texts”. These are God’s preserved Word! And they are not “questionable”! God has preserved His Word in Greek and Hebrew and Aramaic! ------------------------ Next you said...... “So I am going to go off the Bible, KJV, period, and make my arguments based therein.” This is a gutsy and bold statement, that I have made myself over the years. But it’s Dangerous, bordering on “double inspiration”. For sure the KJB, is “God’s Word”, but for English speaking people only! Our love for the KJB, must not cause us to go off into error. ------------------------ Next you quoted this other “author”....... “Since the word was used by Luke, the only gentile who wrote some of the New Testament, we can assume he was not speaking of Passover, since he didn't keep Passover, not being a Jew.........” I have some “serious problems” with this statement; And I didn’t see you address them, so I will. (1)First, this assumption, that Luke was a gentile; Is Biblically unsound..... Romans 3:1-2 V.1 What advantage then hath the Jew? or what profit [is there] of circumcision? V.2 Much every way: chiefly, because that unto them were committed the oracles of God. and John 4:22 “Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.” (2)And secondly(and more importantly), this statement shows a disrespectful attitude toward God’s Word. Luke, was simply a “pen”, used by God to write God’s Word! Although his writing style can be evaluated, because God used words from Luke’s own vocabulary, to write His Word. The words Luke penned, were God’s Words; Therefore the idea that Luke injected his own personal views or prejudices is error. ------------------------ All of us, need to be careful(in these last days), and be dogmatic about our stands and attitudes about God’s Word!
  5. Oh, by the way... In English the word “easter” means.... “From the East!” Even though it may mean something else in another language(some false god). And as we all should know, our Lord is soon going to break the “Eastern sky”! "For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be." (Matthew 24:27)
  6. Hello John In your OP, you added.... “but for different reasons.” Well, my reason for believing that Easter is the correct word, rather than “Passover”, is because of who the Bible(and the book of Acts), is aimed at! God(in His wisdom), knew that over the centuries after the English language was established and an English Bible was produced, that mainly Gentiles would be reading it; And that most new Gentile converts would not know what time of year the Passover was being celebrated. Therefore, it makes perfect sense, to translate this word as Easter!
  7. Hello beameup I also dislike the false doctrine of "replacement theology"; But I think it mainly applies to transferring promises God made to Israel, to the Church. As for the idea that "backsliding" is not to be applied to New Testament Saints; I must disagree. If what we see happening in Corinth wasn’t backsliding, I don’t know what it was. Also, we see the end results of being a backsliding Christian, in 1 John 2:28.... "And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming." ------------------------ As always, I have not arrived yet; So I could be wrong. So let me know, if you find a flaw in my logic.
  8. Hello No Nicolaitans I am also “no financial guru” at all; But right off the top of my head I see an advantage! If you get a lower rate, you should be able to keep paying the same amount each month, but cut your years back a lot: Maybe getting your house paid off in half the time! ------------------------ But the real reason that I responded to your post is to preach a message. Do you realize that all of the patriarchs in the Old Testament, lived in tents(tabernacles): And that it was Cain’s descendants that built the first houses or cities. Therefore it appears that God’s people were led, to live in temporary shelters. This could be to remind us, that the life we are living here, is just temporary. Kind of like that old song, “This world is not my home, I’m just a passing by...” -------------------------------------------------- Please don’t get me wrong, I am not being critical of you at all: Nor am I saying that there is anything at all wrong with owning a home. But this is just my opportunity to remind everyone, that the Lord wants us to keep our eyes on eternity: I believe that this is one of the reasons God gave the Jews “the Feast of Tabernacles”....... Leviticus 23:42-43 V.42 Ye shall dwell in booths seven days; all that are Israelites born shall dwell in booths: V.43 That your generations may know that I made the children of Israel to dwell in booths, when I brought them out of the land of Egypt: I [am] the LORD your God. When the Jews came out of the world(Egypt), God had then live in tents, when they were used to living in houses. Now I know that there is more to this feast than this one point; Yet this is a valid point. By the way, a “booth” is a “temporary dwelling place”: Today this could be a nice double wide trailer house, because this is definitely temporary. ------------------------ Now No Nicolaitans, please understand that I have no intention of derailing your thread: And the advice I gave you about getting another loan, seems to make sense to me; But I just had to share this.
  9. Hello Genevanpreacher I am glad to respond to your concern about my transmission of the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: This is such an important issue, and I always want to be 1000% in line with God’s Word in this area. You are right, that my Gospel presentation is laced with this phraseology; And this is based upon the rock that I find in Romans 10:13, that I have placed my eternity on. As you do, I also frown upon that “magical prayer” idea; But as you can see I make it clear that "believing" is what Salvation is all about. Here is a part of my posted conversation, that explains what I am talking about; Talking to this guy, in the 3rd person, I said..... “And if Ahmed will believe that Jesus died to pay for his sin and to give him a victory over his sin, than Ahmed can be saved today, by asking Jesus to save him. This is how Don got saved.” You notice, how believing comes before calling. ------------------------ Also, your statement that the instruction in Verse 13, is a “post-salvation” instruction, reminds me of the old argument about what happens first at the moment of salvation; Our justification, or the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, or our reconciliation, or our inheritance in Christ, etc. In reality, all of what we get at salvation, is simultaneous. Sorry for such a brief response, but it’s after midnight right now and I have other things to do. Please, lets discuss this further.
  10. Is Repentance part of the Gospel? I have been playing chess for about 40 years or so and a few years ago, I found a site on the net, where I can play up to 12 games simultaneously, with people all over the world, for free. I always set each game up, giving each of us “10 days to move”, so that this doesn’t place demands upon my time; (I regularly take a week without logging in, if I am busy), without losing a game by “timing out”. Anyway, yesterday I got a personal message from someone named “Ahmed”, living in Cairo Egypt: (He sent me, a personal message through this chess program!) Note: On the settings part of this site, I can tell about myself; Even though I posted few personal details about myself, I did include this message...... Chess is fun, but it’s just a game. Life is real and it is going to end for all of us. Therefore, BE READY for eternity and trust Jesus as your personal savior right now. 10 seconds after you die, will be too late. (1) We are all sinners.. Romans 3:23 (2) Our sin will send us to hell, but God wants to give us the gift of eternal life...Romans 6:23 (3) He did this, by sending His Son Jesus, to die in our place on the cross... Romans 5:8 Knowing these three facts, opens the door for you to go to heaven. But you don’t go through that door, until you “ask Jesus to save you”.... “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Romans 10:13 Ask Jesus to save your soul today and I will see you in heaven one of these days! Anybody who clicks on my “user name”, can access this message. -------------------------------------------------- Here was Ahmed’s response to this message.......... Hello, Don, No one should be worshipped, begged, or asked for salvation but Allah, the creator of all creatures. Allah or the god father as you call it in Christianity, created evrything and all people, including jesus. Jesus is merely a creature of god as much as you and me and all other people. So plesse ask Allah and only Allah to forgive you. Regards, Ahmed. -------------------------------------------------- My first response to Ahmed............ Hi Ahmed I am glad to hear from you. Of all the thousands of religions in the world, we can know that Christianity is the only true faith, because of “the Bible”. The Bible tells us of God’s Character and that one of the most important things to know about God, is “His Holiness”! God, is so Holy, that He hates “sin”, above all else; We can never come into his presence in our sinful state. Christianity is unique, because it is the only faith that takes care of our sin Problem, by God having sent His Son Jesus, to die in our place. Forgiveness must be paid for. We either pay for it ourselves, by going to hell; Or we let Jesus pay for it, by His death on the cross; By asking Him to save us. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." (John 14:6) See you later, Don -------------------------------------------------- Ahmed’s quick response..... Are you saying that by just believing in jesus and asking him for forgiveness I will grant peace in the eternal life -------------------------------------------------- My response to Ahmed...... No, this is what “God says” in the Bible! We will never be able to fully understand why God would sacrifice His only Son to save us, but He did. I hope, that you are able to get hold of a Bible, and read it for yourself. God’s Word(the Bible), is this world’s only source of Truth! But until then, the Bible says that “real salvation”, is as close to you, as your mouth. The Bible says.... "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." (Romans 10:9-10) -------------------------------------------------- Ahmed’s next response..... So, let's say, if I steal, lie, or fornicate, or di whatever sin in this world, then l would be salvaged in the afterlife by just brlieving in jesus and asking him for forgiveness -------------------------------------------------- My next response to him...... The Bible says, that all sin has a root! And that root is, Rejecting Jesus Christ as your savior..... “He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” (John 3:18). The Bible tells us, that it’s not stealing or lying or fornication that sends us to hell, it is Rejecting Jesus. And the Bible also tells us, that Accepting Jesus as our Savior, will give us a victory over all of these sins, Because God will come to live within us. Jesus said.... "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me." (Revelation 3:20) -------------------------------------------------- Ahmed’s next response..... Still so many people beieve in just and they still do all the sins of the world, why didnt jesus forbid them -------------------------------------------------- My response to this...... The fact is, anybody can “say” that they “believe”, even if they don’t truly believe. And if you don’t truly believe, than no change is made in you. We will find a lot of things that God does or doesn’t do and not understand them; But the main fact that we must remember, is that God loves “us”! And He wants to save “us”! It does not matter, what the rest of the world does, it only matters what we do! God loves Ahmed and sent Jesus to die for Ahmed to pay for Ahmed’s sins. And if Ahmed will believe that Jesus died to pay for his sin and to give him a victory over his sin, than Ahmed can be saved today, by asking Jesus to save him. This is how Don got saved. -------------------------------------------------- Ahmed’s next response..... So why jesus doesn't save those who believe in him but still do sins And why doesn't he forbid them from doing sins in the first place. ? -------------------------------------------------- My response to these questions...... I am happy to answer any question that you have, and these are two great questions; Your first question was.... “So why jesus doesn't save those who believe in him but still do sins” The fact is, “He does” save those who are still sinning! We don’t have to “stop sinning” to get saved; We must only be sorry for our sin and “willing” to turn from it. We are not saved by anything that “we do”, but by “simply believing” that Jesus died for us on the cross, to pay for our sins: Then was buried and three days later, rose from the grave to prove who He was! The fact is, being saved does not make us “perfect”, it only gives us the ability to overcome our sinful acts. Your second question was....... “And why doesn't he forbid them from doing sins in the first place?” God made human beings, with a “free will”, because He wants us to love and worship Him, voluntarily. If God forced all of us to live right, than we would be robots not human at all; And God would not get any glory out of that! God does not “force” anyone to do anything; We must trust Him, because we want to or it wouldn’t be real. See you later -------------------------------------------------- Ahmed’s next response(a few house ago)..... So sinnerss will be saved too. -------------------------------------------------- My response to this(just now)...... Yes! If they believe on Jesus "alone", for their salvation. This is called "the Gospel": (The good news) ============================== There you have it! The reason for this thread, is because of what went through my mind, as I typed this final response! Repentance is not in it! But it is almost identical to Philip’s response to the Ethiopian eunuch in Acts 8:37. About 20 years ago, I realized that there were two kinds of “repentance”: (1) Repentance with the hands: (Where we stop sinning!) (2) Repentance with the heart: (Where we feel sorry for our sin!) The second is needed for salvation, while the 1st is needed to grow in Christ! ------------------------ Any time that I have shared this observation with “anyone”(other preachers), I have been burned at the stake as a heretic. But the Bible seems to agree with it!
  11. My wife and I regularly sing in Church; And there is a song, that she has suggested that we sing called, “just one more soul”; But I have been against the idea, because I just didn’t like this song. And this morning the Lord has shown me why “I don’t like it”: Because it is UnBiblical; In several ways. Here is a line from the first verse.... “The preachers are weary, the singers are tired”: For one thing, if this is the case in your Church, than the preachers and singers, need to either find some other ministry to do(one God is calling them to), or they need to get saved. Because doing things in the Spirit, will not be wearisome. But the next line, just might be right.... “The Church as we know it, is losing its fire” For sure, when members of a local Church are “laboring in the flesh”, they will lose God’s fire! And the last line of the first verse, gives the wrong response to this problem..... “But we must determine to keep pressing on”! If your laboring in the flesh, “more labor” is not the answer! Jesus said...... "Come unto me, all [ye] that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28) ------------------------ Sure enough, there is some “work” involved, in staying close to the Lord; Such as Prayer and Bible study and Church attendance! But, the fruit of this labor, is learning to follow the Lord’s instructions: And His instructions are not Burdensome! They are fun!
  12. I have always made it a point in my Christian life, to derive my Doctrinal views, from God’s Word, rather than what any human being had to say. Although being a non-college educated pastor, has helped in this regard, I still make it a matter of serious daily prayer, asking the Lord to help me know the truth about His Word and to not be influenced by the “winds of doctrine”, that are blowing in the world. With all that said, years ago I realized that I had to reject Calvinism, as error while also rejecting Arminianim as error, in the other direction. Let me get to the point; One of the areas of Calvinism that I reject, is “Conditional election”, because I see the Bible as clearly teaching that Election is conditional upon “God’s foreknowledge”! Which brings me, to my point. Most(if not all), of the IFB pastors that I know, seem to “go far beyond Arminianim”, in this area and regularly make it clear, that they believe, “that if they had not witnessed to particular people that trusted Christ, than those people would not have gotten saved!” Years ago, an elder pastor friend of mine shared a quote with me, that some famous evangelist had once said... “Of course I believe in Election; But it seems like the more people that I witness to, the more get elected!” Now that sounds cute, but “how does he know, that these people are truly getting saved”, or just making a profession of faith, because of his skills of persuasion! I am reminded of a Scripture.... “I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.” (1 Corinthians 3:6) Paul, didn’t seem all that concerned about “soul winning”: But simply getting the Gospel out!
  13. This morning early, I woke up and intended to go back to bed and get some more sleep, but while I lay there I started to pray and I started to thank the Lord for all that He had done for me and my family over the years; And I realized the great victory that He had given me over the “fear” of “tomorrow”; That is, the fear of wondering how we were going to be provided for.... in the future! This is a real victory that God can bless us with. And as I began to consider this victory; I realized how it all boiled down to, a victory over “the pride of life”..... 1 John 2:16 "For all that [is] in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world." This is a very old(primal), temptation.... Genesis 3:6 "And when the woman saw that the tree [was] good for food, and that it [was] pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make [one] wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat." ------------------------ This is a “place”, where the Lord wants every Christian to come to! A place in their Spiritual life, where they are placing EVERYTHING in their life, in the LORD’s hands; and trusting Him to totally take care of them! This place is more difficult to arrive at, if you have been blessed with material wealth; Such as, a lot of money, or a good job, or a respected career, or an exceptional ability etc. Any of these things, tend to make a person consider themselves, “independent” and not in need of anyone’s help. But every human being, is in total and complete dependence, upon the Lord, every day of their lives! Our Spiritual lives start out, with the “knowledge” that we need Jesus, to pay for our sins and take us to heaven. Then, after we are born again, this knowledge should grow to an “understanding”, that we owe everything that we have, to the Lord. Then, this understanding should grow to a “deep trust”, in the LORD to provide for our every need, for as long as we are living on this earth........ Matthew 6:31-34 V.31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? V.32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. V.33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. V.34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day [is] the evil thereof.
  14. When you look back to the days of Ozzie and Harriet and Leave it to Beaver: These television shows worked, because they accurately reflected the real lives that most American families were living during these years(1940-1960). The vast majority of people, were generally decent people who had been taught the value of a good character. For those of you who don’t even know who Ozzie and Harriet were, this makes it even easier for some scoffer, to convince you, that things have “always been this way”..... 2 Peter 3:3-4 V.3 ¶ Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, V.4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as [they were] from the beginning of the creation.” ------------------ There was a time 50 years ago, when you NEVER heard homosexuality or any kind of sexual sin even mentioned on television. But this wasn’t only, true in the secular realm. Back in the 1940s & 1950s, most Christian Churches used the KJB; But the pressure was even then, being put on pastors and Churches, to stop doing things, in the “old ways”! Today, the PRESSURE for every Christian to compromise their Biblical principles, is greater than it has ever been; And every day that Jesus doesn’t come back, this pressure is increasing. The decisions(both political and religious), that otherwise sane and well adjusted people are making today, are being seen as crazy, by anyone who hasn’t got their head in the sand. -------------------------------------------------- It is obvious, that we are living in the “last” of the last days and that this “sin sick” and “self destructive” and “self consuming” world, that we are living in, is just about to collapse down upon itself....... 2 Timothy 3:13 “But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.” Praise the Lord, Jesus is just about to come back and take us out of this mess! But until He does, we need to remind ourselves every day, of the fact that this world is becoming more and more deceived and that we need to keep our feet, solidly grounded upon the Word of God!
  15. I see a danger, in looking at the bad things of the past and stating emphatically that the way things are today, are not as bad as it was back then..... 2 Peter 3:3-4 V.3 ¶ Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, V.4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as [they were] from the beginning of the creation. The Bible clearly tells us, that as the Lord’s return gets closer things will get worse.... “But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.” (2 Timothy 3:13) ------------------------ Keep in mind, that I am not leveling any criticism toward any previous posters. What I am saying, is that none of us, actually lived through these past historical events that we read about. It could be, that the height of wickedness and Spiritual darkness that we are seeing now, have never been seen by any human being before.
  16. Not respecting God’s Word: Over the years I have come to regard those who don’t see the importance of “sticking to the KJB”, as not having a “proper respect for God’s Word”. Respecting the Bible, is demonstrated by seeing the importance of every “jot and tittle” in God’s Word! I remember year ago, as a young Christian, reading Luke for the first time and coming to Luke 24:39...... “Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.” ..... and seeing the significance of Jesus saying “flesh and bones”, instead of the term “flesh and blood”; And I remember, remarking to a co-worker, who was a “preacher boy”, attending a local Bible college, how interesting it was, that Jesus didn’t say “flesh and blood”, because his Glorified Body did not contain any “blood”! I remember this “student of the Bible”, lecturing me, that I was making too big of a deal, out of “these words”! He said... “it doesn’t matter if it says flesh and bones or flesh and blood....” This is a perfect example of “a lack of respect for God’s Word”!
  17. There are a few kinds of Spiritual blindness talked about in the Bible; The blindness of the unsaved or the blindness of the Jewish nation, etc. But there is also a Spiritual blindness that can effect Christians. This blindness that effects Believers, is always caused by unrepentant sin; Sin will blind us to our sinful condition. Well over the years, I would occasionally run in to a professing believer, who would be infected by a particular form of this Spiritual blindness; That is one, that effects their view of the world. You could tell this, because when you would talk to them about the soon return of our Lord Jesus Christ, they would talk as if it was hundreds of years off; And if you pressed them about why they have that view, you would find out that they are blind to the great wickedness and depravity that is all around us. Now for sure, the fish stinks from the head down and 99% of professing believers who have this outlook on life, are either unchurched or have pastors who never preach about sin or wickedness at all, but always exclusively about, the love and mercy of God. Most recently I was talking to a dear older woman, who was born in 1933 who’s father was a Methodist preacher. And as usual, I asked her if she “was born again?” She responded with “of course I am”. In response to that, I said “Well, I will see you in heaven one day; and you might just get their before I do; But we both might go together, if the Lord returns soon.”. Well, she was shocked to think that I held such a radical view and told me that, she wasn’t expecting His return, any time soon. ------------------------ These kinds of encounters, invigorate me to preach harder against sin and the lost state of this world we are living in. Even though this kind of preaching isn’t popular and can easily get a preacher fired from his position(2 Timothy 4:2-4). Each of us, should be aware of the danger we are faced with, in a world of Believers who are blind to the truth’s of God’s Word and we must remain dogmatic about these "fundamentals" of the faith.
  18. Hello again Ukulelemike You asked..... "So what do you take? Have you tried any natural things?" I do use natural things, with GREAT RESULTS. I have always had a problem with sinus drainage, but when I got about 40 years old, it seem to intensify and I really needed help with some sinus attacks, that could cause me to use an entire box of Kleenx in one day. Then about 15 years ago, my wife and I discovered Myrrh Gum capsules(600 mg), and for me they work better than any pharmaceutical on the market. They can be costly from local shops, but I go to Swanson(on line), and can get a bottle of 120 capsules, for about $5.00. During the worst times of the year(highest pollen count), I might take one every 6 to 8 hours and this controls the problem completely. PRAISE THE LORD. (Their Product #SW1155) Also, for about the last 20 years, I have developed some tendonitis, in my arms and shoulders, that “can” give me some discomfort after laying in bed all night or over use of my arms, etc. About 10 to 15 years ago, I started taking(on and off), Glucosamine, Chondroitinn & MSM,(all in one small pill), that says it will rebuild the cartilage in joints and it seems to be working in my case. I only recently got back on this, after not using it for a few years. But I remember back when I used to suffer from tennis-elbow, that I told my wife that it’s effects were so quick, that it was almost like taking a pain reliever. Recently I have been having some minor knee pain(with my one good knee), and PRAISE THE LORD, this pain is gone. But I believe that it is mostly an answer to prayer. I also get this from Swanson, product number SW1009, for about $8.95 a bottle. Now in the area of Faith, is colloidal silver. You will understand why I call, using this by faith, in a minute. Over 20 year ago, a friend told me about this stuff and how I could make it myself at home. So after reading about it’s use and safety, I started making it and using it as a general antibiotic. Today, you will find a lot about it on the internet, but I can tell you, that it works. After a few years, my wife started using it for urinary track infections etc. and it works great. Today we use it for all kinds of infections and we also use it topically on cuts and rashes and on our pets. It’s great stuff that is almost free. The reason I call this a “faith based medicine”, is because over the years I have probably made 20 (12oz. batches), of this stuff and each time, although I can see(somewhat) the microscopic partials of silver in the water(before they disperse), I always use it by faith: (Asking the LORD to bless it in my body and do the things it is suppose to.) I have come to the conclusion, that it is the Lord that heals us anyway: So everything I take, is with this in mind. This isn’t all, of the medical tricks, that my wife and I have discovered, over the years, but these are three examples. I hope this is a help to everyone.
  19. Hello John81, As I said, I find myself praising the Lord every day, for His great mercy in the area of my health. Throughout the day(almost every day), as I am out and about, I have an occasional pain, in an ankle or my lower back or anywhere in-between. Being a busy person, I am unable to get off my feet or sit down and rest, when these pains come(but must keep going); And praise the Lord, whenever I experience any pain or suffering, He seems to immediately remind me to ask Him to deliver me from it, so I pray about it on-the-go and invariably within just a few minutes the pain is gone!! ------------------------ I know that this may sound “simplistic” and “unbelievable” and maybe even “boastful”: But I do my best, to give the Lord all the glory and credit, as frequently as I can. I am convinced, that if I were to stop praying about these things, that I would be almost unable to move. Truly our LORD answers prayers: and the more we pray, the more He answers. I am also aware of “God’s chastening hand”, upon unrepentant Christians; Therefore to insure my good health, I try to always be quick to repent(1Corinthians 11:31)! I have done(and continue to do), a great deal of study of the subject of “pain” in God’s Word and truly believe that God uses pain, to get our attention. Therefore, I try to be very quick, to respond to even the slightest pain. ------------------------ I seem to be rambling here... But I do believe that what I have said, is covered under Titus 2:1 Have a good evening
  20. I am 59 years old, and for the last 30 years I have been disabled because of surgery that removed part of my left leg. I praise the LORD, every day, for the pain free life that He has blessed me with “all these years” and continues to bless me with today. I have had a section of my prayer list for years, where I have asked the Lord to keep delivering me from pain and suffering, in specific areas of my body. And recently as I have been developing some “age related” twinges of pain, I have been unsure as to exactly what, I should be asking the LORD. A few days ago, I started to reluctantly ask for the Lord to “stop my body from wearing out”: Not doubting that He could do just that, but not being sure that this is how I should be “wording” this request. This morning, I realized that my main issue is “pain”, therefore I should be asking the Lord to deliver me from “the pains of old age”! ------------------------ The reason that this wording is important, is because of Romans 14:23.... “And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.” It is important that we “speak in faith” and not in doubt. It is also important that as I take the medications etc., that I take for pain or age related reasons, that I remind the Lord (and myself), that I am not “trusting” in that pill to deliver me from pain, but that I am trusting the Lord to use that pill in my body, to accomplish His will for my life and deliver me from pain and suffering.
  21. This morning, I was studying in 1Peter 5: and came across the word “ensample”, and as usual, I simply read it as “example” and started to move on.... Then I thought that I should make sure, that “ensample” us indeed identical to our word “example”, so I dug into it some more. First of all, I nailed it down that they are identical: But I continued studying this word, when I found that this English word example, was translated from 4 or 5 different Greek words. Then I made a marvelous discovery in 1 Peter 2:21..... “For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:” The Greek word used for the English word “example” in this verse, is only found “one time” in the Bible and it has a specific and unique definition in the application of this verse.(I will leave it to you, to discover this application for yourself;) ------------------------ But in this discovery, I realized how VALUABLE it is, for every serious Bible student to have a copy of Strong’s concordance available to them, for situations just like this. Then it came to mind, that this “could be”, a reason to compare other English translations(in my study of the Bible): Maybe..., some other version could actually be more “scholarly” than the KJB. Therefore, even though I am a KJB man(all the way), I went to the internet and looked up, how a few of the most popular modern versions, would state 1Peter 2:21, to see if any of them would give any hint, of the unique quality of the word “example”, found in this verse. I am here to report, that for all the effort that is put into all these other modern translations, it is just a bunch of hooey. We have not been missing ANYTHING, by sticking to our old KJB.
  22. Thank you Heir of Salvation, for the point you made in your post, that in it’s own subtle way, brings us to the “answer” of the question, asked by this thread. But as I watched and listened to this video that you attached, another thought came to mind. “Wow, what a congregation!” Just imagine being able to “Preach” to a large group of people like this. Just imagine the “altar call”! Then reality sat in; And I realized that “if” a “real preacher”, preached a real Bible message to this large crowd today: That either he would booed off the stage or there would be a dangerous rush for the exits. I state this as a fact, because if indeed a congregation of this size, were all born again Christians, that regularly attended a Church where God’s man preached God’s Word: This city they all lived in, would not look like any modern city in the year 2015. That city would have no gang problems, nor drug problems, nor prostitution or drunkenness problems. No liquor store would be able to stay in business, in this city and the police department would be working with a skeleton crew. In other words, if this many people in one city, were totally committed to Christ and growing healthy Christians; Then they would have such an impact upon their community, that a city(of any size), would not be able to withstand, the Gospel message and 98% of the population would get saved. Which brings me to the sad realization, that most of these nice looking people, that are singing praises to our Lord, might not really know Him and are keeping the sinful industries I mentioned above, in business.
  23. Hello John81 and thank you very much for the great post. A few days ago, I saw the post from Miss Daisy, but I have been so busy, that I was unable to respond to her. But after reading your post, I see that you and I are on the exact same page in this area and I much appreciate your response!
  24. For as long as I have been saved, I have been expecting the Lord’s return..... And as I have studied Scripture about it, I have always questioned, where the United States would be, when the whole world turns against Israel? Seeing as the LORD is the one that is going to be the one to defend Her..... Then came Obama, with his actions of TODAY, that is putting an end of Israel being our close Allie!! Normally this would be looked upon as a “bad thing”; But I see it as a SIGN of the Lord’s very, very, very soon return!
