  1. Doc I doubt you are saved if you are trying to undermine the church that Jesus Christ founded Matt 16:18 You are probably remarried which is condemned 4 times in the bible or using contraception which is condemned (gen 38) These are both mortal sins 1 John 5:16-17 King James Version (KJV) 16 If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it. 17 All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death. Let me share the gospel with you Go to catholic.com to learn the truth about Christ and his one true church
  2. Only god knows but it is doubtfull since he committed a mortal sin in taking his own life 1 John 5:16-17 King James Version (KJV) 16 If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it. 17 All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death.
  3. I can find every catholic claim in the bible even the immaculate conception and the assumption of Mary But since the bible doesn't say bible alone any were I wouldn't even need to....
  4. Then I should eat Jesus's flesh (John 6) And tie a mill stone around anyone's neck who hinders a child and since you done baptize babies is that what I should do to you?? Matthew 18:6 King James Version (KJV) 6 But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.
  5. Ok John you need to stop taking your information from the heretical church of John It's dangerous when you think god thinks just like you that is why there are thousands of baptist churches everyone is there own pope and magisterium Jesus said upon this Cephus (arimaic) I build my church not upon these cephus's I build my churches Matt 16:18
  6. Things that are not in the bible, and remember the bible never ever controdicts itself Faith alone (James 2:24) Bible alone (1 Tim 3:15) Traditions of man not in the bible The rapture, (the disappearance of righteous) Mid 1800's invention So much focus on John 3:16 invention in the last 100 years What church you go to doesn't matter invention in the last 100 years "minor on the minors" "major on the majors" Focus on the family invention Things that are in the bible The Eucharist (John 6) Confession to a priest (John 20 21-23)
  7. Sam can you through historical fact trace your information through the apostles as they appointed Mathis to replace Judas in acts 1 Looks like you are playing god no one has the power to forgive or not forgive other than those sent directly by the apostles such as a catholic or orthodox priest John 20:21-23 King James Version (KJV) 21 Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you. 22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost: 23 Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained.
  8. This doesn't prove the baptist tradition is the pinicile of Christ's message it could be any of the 38,000 traditions
  9. Ok than a Methodist, a catholic, or a baptist that reads the bible daily seeking the truth can be saved Which I agree but once they find the truth they must follow it and no one can judge them other than god
  10. No contact with the dead Jesus prayed with the dead in Matt 17 Sometimes Fundamentalists object to asking our fellow Christians in heaven to pray for us by declaring that God has forbidden contact with the dead in passages such as Deuteronomy 18:10–11. In fact, he has not, because he at times has given it—for example, when he had Moses and Elijah appear with Christ to the disciples on the Mount of Transfiguration (Matt. 17:3). What God has forbidden is necromantic practice of conjuring up spirits. "There shall not be found among you any one who burns his son or his daughter as an offering, any one who practices divination, a soothsayer, or an augur, or a sorcerer, or a charmer, or a medium, or a wizard, or a necromancer. . . . For these nations, which you are about to dispossess, give heed to soothsayers and to diviners; but as for you, the Lord your God has not allowed you so to do. The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your brethren—him you shall heed" (Deut. 18:10–15). God thus indicates that one is not to conjure the dead for purposes of gaining information; one is to look to God’s prophets instead. Thus one is not to hold a seance. But anyone with an ounce of common sense can discern the vast qualitative difference between holding a seance to have the dead speak through you and a son humbly saying at his mother’s grave, "Mom, please pray to Jesus for me; I’m having a real problem right now." The difference between the two is the difference between night and day. One is an occult practice bent on getting secret information; the other is a humble request for a loved one to pray to God on one’s behalf.
  11. There are 38,000 trinity denominations that claim to go by the bible alone the only ones that don't (church of Christ, catholic, Coptic, orthodox) and a number of non triune churches (lds, moonies, jw's). So if everyone goes by the bible suddenly with no historical proof the baptist tradition is right sounds similar to lds to me next thing you'll ask me to feel the warm feeling in my heart like an lds missionary
  12. Jerry I'll share my sins with you brother in Christ I am frustrated in my parents that thy brought me up in an extreme liberal church and they taught abortion and gay marriage is ok, all religions are equal I am frustrated after I came to Christ my wife who claims to be christian supports some abortion and dresses my daughter inapropreatly I am frustrated the "non-denominational" church I went to for 7 tteaches new age mixed with Christ I have anger towards them and I need to work on this I need to forgive them. Most people I have met that put Christi in thier life first are catholic. If it wasn't for Catholics I would have never had the nerve to help my family Leave the new age church that wasn't putting Christ first so Catholics brought me to christ edited by moderator for content not appropriate to board
  13. No one prays to Mary read the prayer they ask for her to pray for them just like the pastor you ask "pray for us sinners"
  14. I have excepted Jesus christ as my savior but I show him with my world (James 2:24) James 2:24 King James Version (KJV) 24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only. Even the devil believes in God James 2:19 King James Version (KJV) 19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
  15. John MacArthur, David hunt and mike Geron don't Polycarp studied directly under the apostle John who walked with Jesus
  16. I went to a focus on the family retreat and a mars hill (mark Driscoll) retreat both baptist and they said self gratification was not a sin While I went a catholic retreat and they said genisis 38 condemns it
  17. Do you ask your pastor to pray for you??? Acording to your logic you shouldn't because according to your logic says that he would be mediating for you
  18. King James Version (KJV) 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Mary is living forever because Jesus said if we have faith we should have enternal life So according to the bible mary and the saints are still with us
  19. I recommend reading joesephus a jewish historian that worked with the Romans around. 70ad it will at least give you an insight into first century Jewish and roman society Also the 7 letters of ignatius of Antioch around 110ad he studied under polycarp which studied under the apostle John
  20. One Mediator Another charge commonly levelled against asking the saints for their intercession is that this violates the sole mediatorship of Christ, which Paul discusses: "For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus" (1 Tim. 2:5). But asking one person to pray for you in no way violates Christ’s mediatorship, as can be seen from considering the way in which Christ is a mediator. First, Christ is a unique mediator between man and God because he is the only person who is both God and man. He is the only bridge between the two, the only God-man. But that role as mediator is not compromised in the least by the fact that others intercede for us. Furthermore, Christ is a unique mediator between God and man because he is the Mediator of the New Covenant (Heb. 9:15, 12:24), just as Moses was the mediator (Greek mesitas) of the Old Covenant (Gal. 3:19–20). The intercession of fellow Christians—which is what the saints in heaven are—also clearly does not interfere with Christ’s unique mediatorship because in the four verses immediately preceding 1 Timothy 2:5, Paul says that Christians should interceed: "First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all men, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life, godly and respectful in every way. This is good, and pleasing to God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth" (1 Tim. 2:1–4). Clearly, then, intercessory prayers offered by Christians on behalf of others is something "good and pleasing to God," not something infringing on Christ’s role as mediator.
