Alright, so, does any of this matter? We argue over silly things-the mechanics of HOW God performs a miracle are of no consequence to the miracle. Did he move the sun, the earth, the shadow, deflect, who cares? God did as He said He did.
These days I don't even care about the flat earth/round earth argument-the Bible wasn't written to explain how God does what He does, nor was it written to explain the shape of the earth, or how it moves or doesn't moves-it is about the faithfulness, the mercy, the severity, the righteousness of our God and Creator, and our Saviour, Jesus Christ, and His relationship with us, His creation.  That He created is certain, that it was literally 6 days is certain, that He performed miracles is certain, and that He paid the price for our sin on the cross for forgiveness and redemption, is certain. might as well try to explain how Jesus could be the Mighty God, the everlasting Father, AND a servant in a body of flesh, worshiping that same everlasting father, and obeying Him, while still being fully God Himself. I can't explain it, but it is true.

Repentance is not a work, so...no.
Repentance is a change of heart which produces a change of life. Repentance is of the heart, it is a seed, and that seed produces the fruit of a changed life-the change, the work, is the RESULT of the repentance, but it isn't the repentance, itself.

Interestingly, I just recently went to get some x-rays on my back, first time I have seen a doctor for anything in 15+ years. And got a female. Had to drop trou, but she gave me a covering, so I maintained my modesty. Though she DID see my bones, so not sure how I should feel about that.

No, they weren't. They were perhaps protected, but salvation came by Christ and His work on the cross, not before.
Exactly! Salvation can only be accomplished through the indwelling and sealing of the Holy Ghost, not before. They didn't have it, they weren't saved.

Negative: there is ONE canon, and a whole bunch of false ones. THE canon of scripture ended sometime shortly after 90AD, which is roughly the time John was given the Revelation on Patmos. The canon of scripture was set and accepted by the churches as authentic and complete.
The first complete translation into a different language of the entire New Testament was produced somewhere around 125AD, the next around 150AD, so we know the canon was both complete and agreed upon throughout Christendom, if you will, long enough before that for it to be written, by hand, into a different language by that time.  Facts are facts.
As to the Council of Nicea, they just made a 'formal' agreement as to the finalized canon in the 3rd century, but they had no actual authority to declare anything of the sort-it had already been fully received (hence the name Received Text) by the churches for over 100 years before the council. So they really are of no importance anywhere but in their own minds.
As for giving a non-confrontational answer, the GOSPEL tends to be confrontational-when giving the gospel, if I discern that they seriously have heard something of these things and are confused, I would give a brief, to the point explanation, if I believe it will help in the gospel presentation. But the difficulty even in that is that, I am not about to try to carry around a library of biblical and historical apologetics while giving the gospel-,ore than likely I might set up an agreeable time to come and explain it further at a later date.
But I also, in witnessing, don't always expect they will immediately understand the gospel and be ready to be saved right then-witnessing can take time-I don't go for quick prayerism. Too many know little to nothing about anything of scripture and Jesus other than Facebook memes, so I expect to take some time, so we CAN go over such things, but always with the goal being the gospel and salvation.

No one was ever "saved', ie, born again, until after Jesus died for the sin of the world and rose again-if even ONE person could gain eternal life without the sacrifice of Christ, then Jesus did not have to die.  The judgment of Nineveh was a physical judgment, though certainly there was a spiritual aspect, as being wicked, they would go to hell. However, though they repented, all it did was hold off His judgment against the city and its inhabitants. Now, did some perhaps end up in paradise, awaiting Jesus' arrival? Perhaps. But until that time, they were not saved, merely preserved until faith came.

The founders, as they met to prepare the Declaration of Independence, would read aloud 2 verses, (probably among others), that laid out, biblically, their beliefs in national liberty, and how they agreed with Christian liberty: Gal 5:1 and 5:13:
"Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. "
"For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. "
First, we should stand fast and secure in the liberty we gained from an oppressive rule, and work hard not to place ourselves back under that yoke of bondage, and second, to understand that an essential aspect of both nation and Christian liberty is service to one another, and not to think liberty is just about self.  True liberty isn't about individualism, it is about love thy neighbor as thyself, the second of the two greatest commandments of God.

These are not grace that brought eternal life. There was not eternal life until the resurrection of Jesus Christ, else Christ need not have died.

You're trying too hard to put physics in here. How it worked out is a mystery to us, because it isn't our business, we had no part nor lot in it. But He did it according to His will and timing just as surely as He has saved us.

IF Christ first, after His resurrection, had to ascend to offer the final offering for sin before His Father in Heaven, that is when He brought the OT saints with Him. The sacrifice was complete. This didn't take long, by our standards, because he met with His disciples twice more in the day afterward, with the believers going to Emmaus, and that evening with His Apostles in the upper room, when He gave them the Holy Ghost.

Great Scott! Sure a lot of bantering over NOT the question.
The question had to do with what our first thought when, while out soulwinning, someone asks about the who and how of the fixing of scripture.
My first thought, as mentioned early on, is that this is a question that is meant perhaps to begin an argument, or is there to divert from the gospel.
Concerning the 'who' and the 'how' of it, if this is what is being sought, Who is the Holy Spirit, because he gave it and how is by the giving of the revelation to the writers to be passed on to the churches. One the Spirit completed the revelatory giving of His word, it was done and done.

I did nothing of the sort. Here is what I posted:
"The big issue with repentance is that it is two-fold in nature: at salvation, we repent in our hearts of SIN, not sins, plural, but sin, the very concept of it. That is part of confession of our sin, which is necessary for salvation, not confessing our sins, plural, because we could never do that; rather, we confess that we are sinners, that we sin, the very fact of it, and so, repent, or turn from that life of sin, in the heart."
Notice AT salvation, we repent, (change our mind) about sin-not SINS, but SIN, the very concept, realizing that I am lost in sin. I need a change of heart about that, and this is repentance which is part of salvation. That is not a work. The work comes AFTER salvation, it is a fruit.
So tell me, which part is Lordship salvation?
"There were present at that season some that told him of the Galilaeans, whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.  And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above all the Galilaeans, because they suffered such things? I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem?  I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish."  (Luke 13:1-5)  Seems here that Jesus, in context, is clearly speaking of the necessity or repentance from sin.

Wrong. Or you misunderstand what I was saying. To repent means to change one's mind, yes-that is what happens at salvation. But action, after salvation, is the fruit, the proof of that repentance. Faith of the heart should always be accompanied by action. Abraham was justified because he believed God, BUT, his works of faith justified him, as well. In faith, his faith declared him righteous, and then his works also declared him righteous-one of the heart, the other of action. In repentance, we repent in faith unto salvation, and when saved, we put that repentance to work. It is not a work for salvation, but OF salvation.

Because we lead the world in liberty and freedom, and we are willing to take responsibility for your choices. Also because the numbers have been terribly overblown due to a lot of fudging the numbers.  What a president does or doesn't do, will have little effect on a virus. It will work its course, no matter what. I happen to believe that I am God's and my day and cause of my death is already written, so no matter what I do, it will not change that. So I use my freedoms, rarely wear a mask, go out and about as I please, while also taking care of my health in a general manner, and trust the Lord with the results.
And for the record, trump didn't lie about the virus, because he couldn't have any idea as to what it would do-he spoke positively, hoping for the best. Again, the CDC has greatly fudged the numbers with dishonest reporting, and utilization of flawed and often tainted tests.

Once we are saved, then the repentance of sins, plural, the work, begins, as we grow in grace and understanding of what are specifically sins in our lives, and we turn actively from them to follow the Lord.  As mbkjpreacher said above, in Nineveh, they were repentant in heart, and their actions, the fruit of repentance, then followed.

There is a man named William Schnobelen, (pronounced "Shneblin"), He was a high-degree Mason in the European rite, which goes to I believe level 99. He was also a practicing witch. He did a lot of very crazy, almost fake-sounding stuff, but he seems extremely sincere-practiced vampirism, and was ordained a black bishop in the Catholic church.  He got out of it all, actually, through joining the Mormons, but as he was seeking truth, he was drawn to the KJB Bible over their other books, and was actually kicked out because it was all he would read and teach from. He got saved and left it all behind.
Sadly, he seems to have wandered a bit into some error, as he seems to have gone into the Hebrew Roots movement, but I DO believe him to be saved.
