  1. The weather here in WA ha actually been quite nice lately.
  2. Yeah, that was pretty freaky. My house is literally one mile north of the bridge. My wife and I heard sirens blazing by the house and were wondering what was going on. Then I started getting phone calls from concerned church friends and family because one of the vehicles that fell with the bridge was identical to the one I drive, and they were worried that me and/or my wife had been on the bridge when it went down. Praise the Lord that no one was killed or seriously injured!
  3. I, praise the Lord, am an exception here! I was born and raised in the CoC and started dating my IFB wife while in High School. After graduation I proposed and a year later we were married. For the first year and a half of our marriage, we attended a CoC, but my wife was always uncomfortable, regularly pointing out falsehoods about what was being preached. When we got married, the arrangement was that whenever we moved, we would go to either a CoC or Baptist, the opposite of our last church. Since I was in the Navy, we knew we would be moving fairly regularly. When I was transfered to WA, we s
  4. Can't...help...my....self! Joke: I saw on ebay an add for a French WW2 rifle. Excellent condition; never been fired and only dropped twice! Btw, I have no idea what number we are really on, so to clear up my confusion I am going to post the number "8" and say that is where we are at!
  5. You would be amazed at the things that get tossed overboard a ship while at sea. Then again, maybe not...
  6. As an Eagle Scout and a big supporter of the Boy Scout program, I approached my pastor late last November or early December to inquire if he would be interested in forming a Boy Scout troop at our church. My pastor had been looking at different ways to encourage more involvement of the teens in our church, and he jumped at the idea. Fast forward two months. Headlines everywhere I looked claimed that the BSA was planning on holding a vote to change their anti-gay membership ban. They tried to smooth everything over by saying that on the national level, the ban would be lifted, but each loca
  7. I believe it's been mentioned already, but I would highly recommend Heartland Baptist Bible College. I have researched it out and plan to attend in the near future. My pastor is a graduate from there, and I have had the priviledge to meet several other pastor graduates from that school, as well as Sam Davison. They are solid biblically and hold the bar very high.
  8. James 1:23-25 King James Version (KJV) 23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: 24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. 25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed. Pretty clear what kind of people we're dealing with here...
  9. It was raining raid?! Brings a whole new meaning to "acid rain"! Glad you are ok, though!
  10. I was adamantly opposed to ever being a pastor/preacher growing up, and even in my adult life. When I was preparing to transition out of the Navy, my wife jokingly said that I could become a pastor. My reply: "I do not EVER want to be a pastor!" I had already made plans to move back to Texas, get my bachelors and masters in mechanical engineering, and pursue that as a career. We picked out a house, college, and even found a good church. Well, that was in October. In November, I attended a mens conference and it was there that God called me to preach. I'm not sure who was more surprised, me
