  1. My mother in law has been very hostile toward me and my husband because I do use the NIV. I do reject her churches thinking of KJV only so since I reject one of their core beliefs, I doubt I will feel welcome. In Fact her pastor has also been hostile towards me. I never even wanted to willingly visit her church, it took me a while to be willing to do so. In closing.... My life, hope, faith is in God alone. Not in certain Bible translations.
  2. If my husband and I feel lead to attend an IFB church then I will do what God wants, I don't know if He ever will, but we will see.
  3. I do not think satan is behind my decision, I will never ever leave the church and I will never stop reading the Bible.... I absolutely am still going to a Baptist church (just Baptist, not an independent one, just plain Baptist) and I continually read Gods Word. I just don't think and IBF church is the right one for me. or that the forum is the place I need to be.
  4. Its not just the message board it was just the final nail in the coffin... other things have lead to that decision
  5. Since I have only posted in this thread I will say this here... I am leaving this forum. I came here looking for answers but instead I was hurt by how hateful some of you seem to be. None of this has changed my thinking of my mother in law, or any other IFBs. I was very much looking forward to visiting my mother in laws church (a IFB one) but now I will never set foot in one and neither is my husband (who agrees with me) I pray Gods blessing on you, even though it is hard for me to ask Him that.
  6. I do try to remember to quote only KJV around my mother in law, but some verses I have memorized in NIV. I try to be understanding but it is hard, because we have different view points.
  7. I personally think they both have mistakes, simply because words lose meaning in translations and also, they both were translated by sinful humans. Of course God is not limited by our sin and His power can easily be seen when I (and many others) read either translation.
  8. But see... I do love the King James. I use it more than my NIV.... I do not accept the KJ as the only true Bible.
  9. I came on this site looking for the reasoning behind my mother-in-laws thinking (She is a strict KJV only) and I have been accused of being corrupt and not a strong Christian for daring to actually enjoy not just KJ but also NIV. I am not sorry I do not think the same way you do. I came here to be surrounded by people who think like my mother in law to get a better understanding. Most of you have been wonderful and I have learned much. But I have also been hurt by the things some people have said.
  10. My mother homeschooled all of us and one of her jobs was to help other families find a good homeschool group near them. A muslim family (they had three young boys) came to our house. My father told us to be very, very careful around them and not mention our faith (my father did for us, explaining that we are a Christian family) It was interesting to learn that when muslim boys turn 13 or 16 (so long ago I can't remember the age) they go to their home country and are taught to hate the US.... then they are sent back here.
  11. O For a Thousand Tongues To Sing :)
  12. Of course I still sin... don't we all?
  13. I just guess we can agree to disagree. I see Gods word clearly in both King James and NIV. and I know others don't. But now I do have a much better understanding as to why people prefer King James. You have brought up a lot of good points, some that I have never heard :)
  14. I did. But like anything on the internet you can't take it everything seriously (I do trust the links you sent are accurate, no doubt in my mind) so I took my own Bibles. I still do not see contradiction, maybe I am to simple minded to see?
