  1. Not to argue the point but this appeared in the Philadelphia Baptist Association minutes of 1771:

    5. To. a query from Dividing Creek, relative to washing the saints' feet, the following reply was made This query being founded on John 13:1-17, can no otherwise be determined than by fixing the genuine sense of that Scripture, which to do is earnestly recommended.

  2. I don't mean to bring up an old topic, but I have read with interest the varying views among the brothers and sisters in the IFB about footwashing. As an Old Regular Baptist we practice this at the same time as communion. We view the word ought as used in John 13:14 as a very strong word that we should continue the practice of footwashing and we are truly happy when we do this. Yes I believe that it is a symbol of humility and service. You can read about how we conduct the communion and footwashing service at my webpage.

  3. You are so right!
    We need to strip off our yellow streek, and put on Christ, and while we are at it, the whole Armour of God!
    Too many Churches are trying to look like the world in order to win them, or there favor, that's why I am a Bible believing, independent, fundamental, King James Version promoting, Baptist! I believe in being separated from the world and it's view!

    A hearty Amen! I am not IFB but I have many of the same beliefs as you. There is a reason the bible says:

    (Ezr 10:11) Now therefore make confession unto the LORD God of your fathers, and do his pleasure: and separate yourselves from the people of the land, and from the strange wives.

    (2Co 6:17) Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,

    (2Co 6:18) And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

    We are to be different from the world!!!
  4. In this day and time very few Baptist practice feet washing as in John 13. Tell me how you see these verses:

    (Joh 13:14)If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet.

    (Joh 13:15)For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.

    If you are interested in Old Regular Baptist practice on this visit my webpage for a description.

  5. It seems everyone that enters heaven will receive a glorified body, so I don't believe that is called a reward, yet some will lose rewards, some will lose all their rewards, while others shall receive rewards.

    1Co 3:11 ¶ For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
    1Co 3:12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;
    1Co 3:13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.
    1Co 3:14 If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
    1Co 3:15 If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

    So I have to disagree.

    OLD, I'm 65 years young & gaining. Yet I noticed there sure is an abundance of young people, I keep wondering were all of them came from. Didn't use to be so many of them, & it seems constantly that there's more & more of them.

    Jerry I have to disagree with you. I do not believe these scriptures refer to losing rewards in heaven but to losing joy of your salvation while here on earth by being disobedient. I have always been of the opinion that different rewards in heaven would imply that God shows respect in person. and the scriptures says in Colossians 3:25:

    But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons.
  6. I believe that reward will be a glorified body likened unto his most glorious body so that we can give him glory as he deserves.

    1Co 15:49 And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.

    1Co 15:50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

    I am so looking forward to the day I lay aside this weather beaten form and get a glorified body likened unto His most glorious body. That will be my reward.

  7. The problem with these so called churches is that they act so much like the world they have become worldly. It is like Paul wrote to Timothy:

    (2Ti 3:4) Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
    (2Ti 3:5) Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
    (2Ti 3:6) For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,
    (2Ti 3:7) Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

    I believe these silly women are those worldly "churches".

    Brothern we must do as it is written In Jude .....earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.

    Let's stand firm in the faith.

    Some people seem to judge me because I don't subscribe to the "once saved forever saved" (or whatever you call it) false doctrine... but that doesn't mean I don't have Faith in the Lord and that I believe in Eternal Life. The problem for you is that I use a different terminology and don't believe in the false doctrine of "once saved forever saved".

    I know you said that you are leaving but I must respond to this statement. What you say is denying the word of God:

    (Heb 5:8) Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;
    (Heb 5:9) And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;
    (Heb 5:10) Called of God an high priest after the order of Melchisedec.
  9. Although I can't post in many forums, I am very thankful that I found this online community of KJB believing, reading, teaching folks. It is like the Psalmist wrote in Psalm 133
    :

    1. Behold, how good and how pleasantit is for brethren to dwell together in unity!
    2 It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard,even Aaron’s beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments;
    3. As the dew of Hermon,and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the LORD commanded the blessing,even life for evermore.
  10. I know that I am new here and have not posted very much but the truth of the scripture stands. This whole thread where many have tried to present the gospel truth about repentace and it has been regected reminds me of the third chapter of 2 Timothy:

    3:1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
    3:2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
    3:3Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
    3:4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
    3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
    3:6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, 3:7Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

    We are to stand firm on what sayth the word of God!!
  11. Wow! I never never followed God all of my life and I'm not sure that anyone else can say that, because as it is written in John 3:19:

    And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil

    I was 23 years old filled with evil deeds and loving darkness before I became obedient to the God's heavenly call. God showed me the worst human being I had ever seen and it was me. I became burdened with the sins I had committed and Godly sorrow set up in me and I had to repent for the sins I had committed against God. I had to pray from the heart not the lips. God taught me how to pray a prayer that was pleasing to him and when I came to the end of my strength and my works became as filthy rages in His sight God worked a work in me that no man could work! He reached down and touchedme and baptized me with his spirit. Becoming a Christian is more than giving lip service to God
