  1. Revelation 19:14-15

14And the armies [which were] in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.

15And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.

    Ephesians 6:17

And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

(Jesus word will give the command for the saints to kill the army of the antichrist.)

A lack of discernment is displayed in this post. Discernment includes common sense and awareness of current events.

It is obvious to the whole world that Israel is a nation again as of many years ago and has spent decades gathering back Jews from all over the world. Whether the gathering of the ten tribes is advertised is irrelevant, what is relevant is that common sense tells anyone that decades of gathering from the four corners would most certainly gather all ten tribes in numbers

I wonder the more I read these posts if this is a "bad gene" in the minds of histor-a-cists (those who twist history to match their misconceptions of Scripture)? Is it a lack of accurate knowledge of current events or below average common sense or a combination of both? Whatever it is, it is a flaw of the souls and not of the Spirit

The discussion has made it possible to give a good explanation to the world. As Daniel 12:10 said at the end "the wise shall understand". It is time!

Um...Eric? Zephaniahs book was BEFORE the Babylonian captivity. And the Lord DID what he said already.

Jerusalem was judged, as the word of God said it would be by the mouth of the Prophet Zephaniah.

    Wow! What a stretch Eric.

Pastor, In Zephaniah 1;14-2:3 Israel is gathered before the judgment. Israel was not gathered before the Babylonian judgment. The ten tribes are now gathered with Judah again now and the judgment is" near, it is near, and hasteth greatly".

So, Eric... after all the failures about the Shmita, and everything else about Mr. Cahn, with no real issue with the stock markets and our ability to function as a society, state, and country - how can you keep promoting it all as scriptural? It has affected Christianity zero %. What can you say? In asking this I mean no disrespect, I just think - if a 'prophet' says something, and it doesn't come to pass, he is a false prophet. How do you get past that fact? Can anything be salvaged from your thinking? How can anyone believe what you say now that nothing has happened that you said would happen?

I had a fella at work who was pushing Cahns 'story'. I flat out told him the guy was as unscriptural as a lie. Afterwards he never speaks of it. And since I appreciate his fellowship I don't press the issue. So believe me, I do feel compassion for people who stick their neck out for 'the truth' - but what about when it falls flat? Do you feel any loss Eric? Do you doubt the veracity of your 'learning'? Is there something to gain by 'still pushing on'?

(Just a personal note - took my time this past week (my vacation btw) and read through Zechariah - sure doesn't say what you keep saying it says either. The whole book, except the prophetic verses about the Lord Jesus, is speaking about the ending of the 70 years, and how the Lord was going to bless the remnant that did return to the land, and some of the rest of Israel from other countries, and how he would magnify them in the eyes of the world. I don't see this book relating to an 'end time scenario' at all. Besides, the prophecies about the Lord were about his coming as a human into the world in the NT gospels.)

    Thanks for 'listening'!

Pastor, Reread Zephaniah 1:1-3 The birds in the air and the fish in the sea and all the land animals have never been consumed off the land. This day of the Lord judgment is near because Israel the nation not desired has been gathered Zephaniah 1:14-2:3. Matthew 24:7-8 signs have begun. You think the shemita has had no effect. You do not understand what is happening in the world.

Yes Eric, I do have all those things. I have them because God graciously supplies them for me, just like the verses I gave you indicate.

Mt 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

So if God makes it possible to have all those things before you need them it is okay? Prepare as the ant.

26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?
27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?
28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:
29 And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?
31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

  10. Do you all know that interest rates on government bonds are so low you have to pay interest to some governments to take your money. The world is panicking. Many countries are in danger of defaulting on their payments. The prices of commodities have fallen and the value of their monies have fallen against the dollar.

Ask the third world people if the shemita has hurt them!

Uke - my statements were in response to "it was a warning to Israel not the Church".

Since believers are the subjects to whom the Lord tells the 'future' to - when he speaks of it, it is for their benefit, not the lost uncaring and haters of the Lord.

Unless of course he is showing to 'his' how he takes care of those who hate him.

It's not always a cut and dried issue. I know that. But when it clearly is shown that God's relationship is with those who have a relationship with him, all through scripture, I have a very easy time making these statements.

God says things from his mouth to us for our benefit, not the losts benefit.

So books where Prophets are speaking of future events - he says them for the benefit of believers. In the past he spoke to believers from the seed of Jacob. Before that he spoke to the seed of Shem and others. Before that he spoke to the sons of Adam who called upon the Lord.

    All believers.

    That's my point.

When God judges Israel with fire the Church will already be in heaven. After the fire falls and kills 2/3 of the people of Israel all the survivors will be saved.

I deny that I, in any way, hold to replacement theology Dave.

I try to take the scriptures as they are, and I try not to add to the meaning of them. Unlike most seminarian type teachers who just repeat what they have been taught to repeat, as if it is true doctrine.

I do not think that Christianity replaced the nation of Israel. Nor do I think they took over the promises given to Israel. All the promises were given to them before the cross. And that is the main difference between you and me, I think.

I believe the promises about eternity are to all the seed, those born again, whether Jew, Gentile, or Israelite. God is no respecter of persons, for the first shall be last, and the last shall be first.

All who enter eternity that are born again receive the same things, no inequality, no special people above another, no double brides for God.

God's people have always been and shall always be the believers in the Lord. There were lost Jews as well as lost Gentiles since the beginning of the nation of Israel (for Jews and all the other tribes) and Adams creation (for Gentiles).

Daniel 12:3 teaches that those who win many to righteousness will shine as the stars for ever and ever. Those that don't won't shine as the faithful. They will not be equal in heaven.

1 Corinthians 3:11-15 Some may lose all their rewards when they are judged others will have rewards.

Anything that our Lord Jesus said? After all wouldn't it have been important enough for him to repeat, if we needed to know that?

He did repeat it through the 2 prophets. Besides it was a warning to Israel not the Church.

  14. 5 hours ago, Genevanpreacher said:

Funny how well you can focus on one part of my comment there Dave.

The drawing together of Israel happened after the 70 years as prophesied by Jeremiah in chapter 29, but the real gathering you all refer to can only happen through Jesus Christ and the gospel of salvation. Ezekiel 37 is a great example of that. The 'valley' of dry bones.

No Eric, ALL God's Israel, the chosen people of God - those who believe in Jesus Christ with all their heart - it's not a physical bloodline issue but an issue of the heart. And WHAT fire??

Still no reference from the gospels, or the whole NT, of how important the gathering of Israel in their own land was to the Church back then?

    Happy Independence Day!

In Zechariah 13:8-9 we see Israel the nation and land judged by fire. Only 1/3 will survive to turn back to God. Ezekiel 39:6-7 also tells us that when God sends the fire Israel will see it and turn back to God.

  15. 9 hours ago, Genevanpreacher said:

No Eric. Israel is not gathered. Not the way you mean.

Just because a small portion of Jews are in the land of Israel, the house of Israel is not gathered. For Jews are only a small group from the house of Israel. Historically and Biblically the tribes that make up the people we call Jews are Judah, Benjamin, and some of Levi. The rest way out number them.

The only way Israel can be gathered is to be gathered in Jesus Christ.

The land can not hold a people numbered as the sand on the sea shore. Because they are scattered all over the world.

The Israel of God is the whole group of believers in Jesus Christ world wide. Not just a small tribe of Jews. To say otherwise is to call God a respecter of persons.

    Of which he is not.

So you think all the Christians and Jews must gather in Israel before God judges them with fire?

It does not say a prudent man takes heed to every conspiracy theorist on the internet..

I had a well known Pastor send me an email last year before the super bowl about how there were going to be terrorist attacks at the Super Bowl... needless to say they never happened, and now that man's credibility has probably gone down in the eyes of some. I wonder how many people were distracted by that dumb email.

Do you really expect us to take heed to every single prediction some Christian on the internet makes? I am sure I could go on google and find article after article predicting America's doom, etc and find article after article of failed predictions, and the sad thing is many of them will try to use the Bible.

    What makes you any different?

Zephaniah 1:14-2:3 tells us that the day of the Lord is near, it is near and hasteth greatly when (Israel) the nation not desired is gathered. So since Israel has gathered we should see the beginning sorrows the Jesus for told in Matthew 24:7. If you watch the news you can see them starting. Therefor we should prepare now.

I have heard the America "Eagle" Russian "Bear" theory since I was in grade school (that's a long time ago). I've also heard arguments that the Antichrist will come out of Arabia (these are the least credible IMO). I have also seen good studies that place the AC out of the European Union. I personally lean towards the EU theory but am far from dogmatic about it. People far more knowledgeable than I argued out the credibility of each of these theories for many years with little gain towards any theory; and as it has nothing to do with salvation or my scriptural OBedience, I won't argue the point.

Having said that, here are some references I have had on hand that give some information on the word Tarshish. There is no support for the British Isles in either reference:

    From Strong’s Hebrew Dictionary:

    תַּרְשִׁישׁ Tarshiysh tar-sheesh'

prOBably the same as 8658 (as the region of the stone, or the reverse); Tarshish, a place on the Mediterranean, hence, the ephithet of a merchant vessel (as if for or from that port); also the name of a Persian and of an Israelite:—Tarshish, Tharshish.

    8658:

    תַּרְשִׁישׁ tarshiysh tar-sheesh'

prOBably of foreign derivation (compare 8659); a gem, perhaps the topaz:—beryl.

    From the Jewish Encyclopedia:

Tarshish appears to have had a considerable trade in silver, iron, tin, and lead (Jer. x. 9; Ezek. xxvii. 12). It gave its name, besides, to a precious stone which has not yet been satisfactorily identifiedSee Gems). The Targum of Jonathan renders the word "Tarshish" in the prophetical books by "sea," which rendering is followed by Saadia. Moreover, the term "ships of Tarshish" is rendered by Jewish scholars "sea-ships" (comp. LXX., Isa. ii. 16, πλοῖα θαλαρρης). Jerome, too, renders "Tarshish" by "sea" in many instances; and in his commentary on Isaiah (l.c.) he declares that he had been told by his Jewish teachers that the Hebrew word for "sea" was "tarshish." In Isa. xxiii. 1 the Septuagint, and in Ezek. xxvii. 12 both the Septuagint and the Vulgate, render "Tarshish" by "Carthage," apparently suggested by Jewish tradition. Indeed, the Targum of Jonathan renders "Tarshish" in I Kings xxii. 48 and Jer. x. 9 by "Afriḳi," that is, Carthage.

Josephus ("Ant." i. 6, § 1), apparently reading "Tarshush," identifies it with Tarsus in Cilicia. This identification was adopted by Bunsen and Sayce ("Expository Times," 1902, p. 179); but it seems from Assyrian inscriptions that the original Hebrew name of Tarsus was not "Tarshush." Bochart (in his "Phaleg"), followed by many later scholars, identifies Tarshish with Tartessus, mentioned by Herodotus and Strabo as a district of southern Spain; he thinks, moreover, that "Tartessus" is the Aramaic form of "Tarshish." On the other hand, Le Page Renouf ("Proc. Soc. Bibl. Arch." xvi. 104 et seq.) refutes this theory, declaring besides that Tartessus never really existed. Renouf's opinion is that "Tarshish" means a coast, and, as the word occurs frequently in connection with Tyre, the Phenician coast is to be understood. Cheyne (in "Orientalische Litteraturzeitung," iii. 151) thinks that "Tarshish" of Gen. x. 4, and "Tiras" of Gen. x. 2, are really two names of one nation derived from two different sources, and might indicate the Tyrsenians or Etruscans. Thus the name may denote Italy or the European coasts west of Greece.

Personally, where I see America in the Bible is in references like Isaiah 59:2 - 15

Isaiah 59:2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

Isaiah 59:3 For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue hath muttered perverseness.
Isaiah 59:4 None calleth for justice, nor any pleadeth for truth: they trust in vanity, and speak lies; they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity.
Isaiah 59:5 They hatch cockatrice' eggs, and weave the spider's web: he that eateth of their eggs dieth, and that which is crushed breaketh out into a viper.
Isaiah 59:6 Their webs shall not become garments, neither shall they cover themselves with their works: their works are works of iniquity, and the act of violence is in their hands.
Isaiah 59:7 Their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed innocent blood: their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; wasting and destruction are in their paths.
Isaiah 59:8 The way of peace they know not; and there is no judgment in their goings: they have made them crooked paths: whosoever goeth therein shall not know peace.
Isaiah 59:9 Therefore is judgment far from us, neither doth justice overtake us: we wait for light, but behold OBscurity; for brightness, but we walk in darkness.
Isaiah 59:10 We grope for the wall like the blind, and we grope as if we had no eyes: we stumble at noonday as in the night; we are in desolate places as dead men.
Isaiah 59:11 We roar all like bears, and mourn sore like doves: we look for judgment, but there is none; for salvation, but it is far off from us.
    Isaiah 59:12 For our transgressions are multiplied before thee, and our sins testify against us: for our transgressions are with us; and as for our iniquities, we know them;
Isaiah 59:13 In transgressing and lying against the LORD, and departing away from our God, speaking oppression and revolt, conceiving and uttering from the heart words of falsehood.
Isaiah 59:14 And judgment is turned away backward, and justice standeth afar off: for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter.
Isaiah 59:15 Yea, truth faileth; and he that departeth from evil maketh himself a prey: and the LORD saw it, and it displeased him that there was no judgment.

Having said that, America certainly looks like an appealing place for the Anti-Christ. Perhaps he'll have a vacation home here...maybe in Hawaii

Tarshish is the tribe of people who started in Carthage and had colonies in Tyre the Island of Roads Spain and England. In Isaiah 23:6-10 the people of Tyre went back to their mother Tarshish in Carthage. It all became part of the Roman empire. North and South America are colonies of The Tribe of Tarshish and the Roman Empire. The antichrist is the 11th horn that comes out of the 10 horns of the Iron Roman empire from Daniel 7:7-8.

If folks don't know this, and haven't noticed it over the course of their lifetimes, hearing yet another person say tough times are coming won't make much difference.

What will make a difference is helping the lost come to Christ, helping to disciple them, and building up believers so they are rooted and grounded in the Word, prepared to be content in all economic times, living for Christ with little or much, and sharing the Gospel with others.

  20. Mid Tribulation fleeing of Israel

    Zechariah 14:1-5
1 Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee.
2 For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city.

(((At the middle of the tribulation the Lord will come down to help Israel escape the armies of antichrist which are under the control of the devil who has been cast to the earth)))

3Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle.
4 And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.
5 And ye shall flee to the valley of the mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azal: yea, ye shall flee, like as ye fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah: and the LORD my God shall come, and all the saints with thee.

    Revelation 12:13-16
13 And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child.
14 And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.

((When the army of antichrist follows Israel down the valley, the mountain will close and swallow the army as the Red Sea swallowed the army of Eygpt))

    15
And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood.
16 And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth.

((When the lamb (Lord) comes to Israel she will flee to the river ford on the Arnon River which is 1/3 of the way south on the Jordan side of the Dead Sea.))

    Isaiah 16:1-5
1 Send ye the lamb to the ruler of the land from Sela to the wilderness, unto the mount of the daughter of Zion.
2 For it shall be, that, as a wandering bird cast out of the nest, so the daughters of Moab shall be at the fords of Arnon.
3 Take counsel, execute judgment; make thy shadow as the night in the midst of the noonday; hide the outcasts; bewray not him that wandereth.
4Let mine outcasts dwell with thee, Moab; be thou a covert to them from the face of the spoiler: for the extortioner is at an end, the spoiler ceaseth, the oppressors are consumed out of the land.
5 And in mercy shall the throne be established: and he shall sit upon it in truth in the tabernacle of David, judging, and seeking judgment, and hasting righteousness.
