  1. Unfortunately the whole KJV 1611 thing and IFB churches are not very well known in countries outside the USA, especially here in SA. It was only in my 20's that the Lord led my wife and I to a IFB church and they were "hidden" Calvinists. Only later were we led to a bible believing IFB church that gave us a good foundation on sound doctrine and bible study principles. I remember fighting the KJV thing for a while until the Lord convicted me.
  2. I look at it this way. He is our advocate and like any court we can not just approach the judge when ever we feel like it. We must go through our advocate (or lawyer), so it is through our advocate Jesus Christ that we are able to approach the Throne of Grace and freely speak to God. Yet in this world even with a advocate we can not speak to the judge unless he speaks to us first, but because of Christ we can speak to God all the time.
  3. Thanks all, now it's the waiting game, and we all know how trying that can be. But I have peace that God knows what He is doing and this has brought me closer to Him, my wife and my family - so all is good.
  4. To take a quote out of EM Bounds on prayer: "IN any study of the principles, and procedure of prayer, of its activities and enterprises, first place, must, of necessity, be given to faith. It is the initial quality in the heart of any man who essays to talk to the Unseen. He must, out of sheer helplessness, stretch forth hands of faith. He must believe, where he cannot prove. In the ultimate issue, prayer is simply faith, claiming its natural yet marvelous prerogatives-faith taking possession of its illimitable inheritance. True godliness is just as true, steady, and persevering in the realm of faith as it is in the province of prayer. Moreover: when faith ceases to pray, it ceases to live." So of course our faith is important in prayer for without faith we can not please God. My question wasn't about prayer though, it was about approaching God. Is it through our strength, ability and faith that we are able to approach Him, or is it because of Christ and His finished work on the cross that we are able to approach Him with boldness and confidence? Also, the point I was trying to convey was how easily a lot of us who have backgrounds in other bible versions and the doctrine taught by churches and pastors that use those versions can miss a biblical truth because we are conditioned into believing that that is what the verse means so must therefore diligently study the Word and put aside our previous understanding of it.
  5. Eph 3:12 In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him. KJV Eph 3:12 in whom we have boldness and confident access through faith in Him. NASB Eph 3:12 In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence. NIV I would like to point out something I have always believed wrongly - that our confidence and boldness in approaching the throne of grace depends on OUR faith in Christ. Having never really read the verse properly I have always just taken it as how it was taught, even when reading the KJV. Yet you can clearly see in the KJV that this does not depend on our faith, but by the faith OF HIM - the "him" being Jesus Christ. Again in (Heb 10:19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus) we see that it depends on the blood of Jesus and not our faith. And in the below verses we again see that it is because of Jesus and His faith and what He did that we have this great privilege to approach the Throne of Grace and make our petitions before God. Heb 4:14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. Heb 4:15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Heb 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. What an amazing truth that can set our prayers free and give them wings to know that it is not our feeble faith with all its fears and doubts that allows us the freedom to approach God with our appeals and requests, but rather IT"S ALL ABOUT CHRIST AND WHAT HE DID!!! Not us. Correct me if my understanding of this is wrong.
  6. I don't ever ask for help, but I have been accused of something that I didn't do, a misunderstanding that has become serious. This being Africa I was almost locked up two days before Xmas, which would have ended in my rape or being beaten to an inch of my life in the cells overnight - this is no joke. Pls can all pray that God's will be done in this, whatever His will may be. A note to all men: 1Ti 3:7 Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil. You never know when something you say or do can be taken the wrong way. Or racial differences cause a misunderstanding. Or when you upset someone and they falsely accuse you. At the moment we believe it is an extortion scam and are hoping that the charges disappear or are dropped. Corruption is rife here. Tim
  7. At this point in time I don't know if I am going to live to see the 1st week of the new year, so starting a church is the least of my priorities right now. Besides, IFB doctrine and KJV only-ism is hardly heard of here and when introduced doesn't often last long - too many greedy charismatics chasing the prosperity gospel.
  8. My quote was a "direct quote" from an outside source and if I changed it in any way it would be plagiarism. Quoted scriptures have been deleted to satisfy those who can not contribute yet can always find reason to take offense, give offense or criticize unduly.
  9. God as a Trinity by Matt Slick God God is the only Supreme Being in all existence, places, and time. He is Holy (), Eternal (), Omnipotent (,), Omnipresent (), Omniscient (), etc. Rev. 4:8Isaiah 57:15Jer. 32:1727Psalm 119:7-121 John 3:20He is Love (,), Light (), Spirit (), Truth (), Creator (,,), etc. 1 John 4:8161 John 1:5John 4:24Psalm 117:2Isaiah 40:122226He is to be worshiped (; ; ; ; ). Each is coequal, copowerful, and coeternal with the other. Each person--Father, Son and Holy Spirit--is not the other. Without either there is no God; all comprise the one God. Analogy of the Trinity: With time, for example, the past is distinct from the present, which is distinct from the future. Each is simultaneous. Yet, they are not three 'times,' but one. That is, they all share the same nature: time Trinitarian Verses [*]Objections to the Trinity answered , Matt. 28:19, 1 Cor. 12:4-6,2 Cor. 13:14 The Word Trinity is not in the Bible. Just because the word "trinity" is not in the Bible doesn't mean that the concept is not taught. The word "monotheism" is not in the Bible, yet the Bible teaches it (; ,). Therefore, your criticism is invalid.Isaiah 43:1044:68 What law of logic is it that the doctrine of the Trinity violates? If you cannot tell me, then your statement is meaningless. Saying it is illogical does not mean it is. Saying it is pagan means nothing. The question is whether or not it is biblical. Are there verses that show that the F., S., & H.S. are each God, each indwell, each have a will, each loves, etc.? Yes there are. The F., S., & H.S. are each called God (F., ), (S., ,; ), (H.S., ). Each has a will (F., ), (S., ), H.S., (). Each is all knowing (F., ), (S., ; ), (H.S., ), etc. Phil. 1:2John 1:114Col. 2:9Acts 5:3-4Luke 22:42Luke 22:421 Cor. 12:111 John 3:20John 16:3021:171 Cor. 2:10-11Regarding the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. There are triads (three gods), but no trinities (one God in three persons). Therefore, your statement is inaccurate. That is correct. But the Trinity is a doctrine arrived at systematically (by looking at the whole of scripture), not by looking at a single verse. Therefore, your complaint is misdirected and shows you don't understand the Trinity. The Trinity doctrine is arrived at systematically (by looking at the whole of scripture), not by looking at a single verse. Therefore, you won't see a single verse that says it. Also, this demonstrates that you don't understand the Trinity, otherwise you would not have asked that question. [*]The Trinity is illogical [*]The Trinity is pagan [*]The Trinity came from pagan trinities. [*]The Bible does not say that God is three who's and one what [*]Show me one verse in the Bible that says that God is three persons.
  10. Anyone ever saw that SANTA is just SATAN another way around?
  11. What!!! Santa's not real??? Then who ate the cookies?
  12. Don't have a IFB church in my town, closest one is about 350km away - study and listen to sermon audio.
  13. May the Lord richly bless you on this special day and for the new year ahead
  14. Oh sorry!! My bad!! Your salvation is not works based. I apologize, must need glasses. I see now your salvation is repentance based. Is repentance not a work?
  15. Your salvation is based on works if I read the highlighted portion correctly: Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Eph 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. Nowhere does this verse state "through faith AND REPENTANCE"
  16. Like everything you say and do, it's based on your own opinion. When you quote scripture you quote out of context and twist to your own ends. Likewise, now quoting Spurgeon, you failed to continue with his sermon - shame on you for for pushing a lie, for damning all besides yourself. The rest of the sermon: The link to the full sermon for those who wish to read it and make sure I have not misquoted. http://www.spurgeon.org/sermons/0003.htm
  17. The above quote you so graciously provided is EXACTLY what I was saying. Now will some moderator please remove me from this forum that allows "believers" to gang up in pairs or more to criticize, bully and proclaim false doctrine in the mistaken belief that I will just bow down to their lies.
  18. Mat 16:23 But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.
  19. Luk 18:10 Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. Luk 18:11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. Luk 18:12 I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess. Luk 18:13 And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. Luk 18:14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted. SFIC - The above verse is for you - you are the pharisee Jesus speaks of. I am the publican, a man that struggles every day with sin in his life. A man that does not claim to be perfect, holy or righteous on his own strength but rather ONLY through the blood of Christ. I sin every day. I fall every day, But I GET AGAIN UP EVERY DAY!! I don't pretend to be perfect and living without sin in my life on a forum where no one can actually see my daily life, where I am protected by anonymity. I do not exalt myself above my fellow believer (well try not to unless some idiot with their arrogance upsets me) and neither do I attempt with every fiber of my being to make others doubt their salvation because it makes me feel holier as you like to do. The Word tells me I am saved because I believed. It tells me that my sins are as far removed as the east is from the west, it tells me that God has turned His back on my sin and that He no longer sees them, that I am covered by the blood of Christ and that that is all God sees. That I will NEVER be judged for my sin but only for my works or lack thereof. That I am ETERNALLY saved and that NOTHING I can ever do will EVER change that! So stop pushing your Lordship salvation, your SELF righteous holier than thou living and your I am better than you arrogance. I am not interested. Jerry, apologies for snapping at you. And no I did not say Judas was saved although it may have come across that way. My implication was that we do not know the finale outcome of Judas's act of repentance, his ultimate act of remorse nor what was in his heart at the time. And to SFIC remark about him (Judas) being of the devil - I remind him of this verse directed to the ROCK Peter (Mat 16:18): Mat 16:23 But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.
  20. Isn't that what the two of you have constantly told me? Maybe you do not have the guts to come right out and say it, but you have implied it enough times, that what I believe the bible says is a lie, that I am damned, that I am going to hell - like they say, whats good for the goose is good for the gander.
  21. Again, like everything you say, out of context, maybe you should re-read - I highlighted just for you in red.
  22. No, I was just following your common line to everyone, that they are not saved if they don't agree with YOU. I asked a personal question and all you have done from day one is judge, condemn, criticize and spout your stupid beliefs. Some christian you are when that is all you can do instead of try and build a fellow christian up as Paul exhorts us to do. When I read your posts I see that I am not nearly as bitter as I thought I was - you and your ilk is what is wrong with the church these days. Again, for the slow of hearing, the dumb of thought and the cold of heart, NO WHERE HAVE I EVER STATED THAT A BELIEVER CAN LIVE AS HE PLEASES - there are consequences, but damnation to hell is NOT one of them!! Maybe you should listen to some more of his teaching, you might actually learn something, so don't come and say that YOU KNOW what he teaches when you have no cooking clue! Jerry, you are just as cold and hard of heart as SFIC, and if you could also read you will see that I never stated that Judas was saved, maybe the two of you should get some reading lessons, might help some. Does this comment make you feel superior? Most would help anyone or thing caught in a trap, the two of you are the type of christian that relish the suffering of other believers - makes you feel better about yourselves does it? Justifies your hard hearts? Just as pathetic!!!
  23. I suggest you read: 1Th 3:12 And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you: 1Th 3:13 To the end he may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints. The HE being Jesus not you and your efforts which can only amount to nothing without His Grace in your life.
