  1. One question the word "rule" here, I wish I had time to look it up but, I have an appointment tomorrow morning and have to hit the sack.

As Christian husbands we don't think of ourselves as "rulers" over our wives, but that is what we are according to scripture. God has set it up to be so, the man is the head of the home and that means he is to rule it in the fear of the Lord, and those under him are to submit and obey. All within the godly Christian home of course, it can't be successful any other way.

Hebrews 13:17 Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.

The above verse is within the church context but the principles of rulership can be applied in any God ordained position of authority, including the home.
  2. I think the following point is very important and is a key ingredient to a healthy marriage, it comes under Bro. Scott's principle #3 The godly husband must continually pursue a one-flesh relationship with his wife.

The godly husband must make love to his wife, and must not restrict himself from her.

1 Corinthians 7:2 Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband. [3] Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband. [4] The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife. [5] Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency.

  3. A godly husband needs to fulfil his God ordained position as the head of his wife.

1 Corinthians 11:3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.

Ephesians 5:23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.

I think many husbands neglect or ignore their position as head and the woman ends up taking over because someone has to do it, of course this is opposing God's will, it is the way of the world.

When a Christian husband steps up and takes leadership like he should then it pleases his wife, for she is wanting him to do it, wanting him to 'play the man' and 'wear the pants' in their home. Satan doesn't want this, that's why he's so busy trying to reverse the roles in the home in these last days, he's quite successful at it too!

  4. Brother Dave,

In our marriage relationships, we husbands must ever remember the truth of Proverbs 18:21 -- "Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof."  Although context in the proverbial listings of the book of the Proverbs is somewhat differently structured than in other books of the Bible, I find it quite interesting that the very next verse speaks concerning the husband's relationship toward his wife, saying, "Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the LORD." (Proverbs 18:22)  Husbands, let us consider the precious treasure with which the Lord our God has so graciously favored us in our wives.  Then let us consider that the death or life of our wives' emotional and mental spirits, as well as the death or life of our one-flesh marriage relationships, is in the power of our own tongue.

In my book on marriage, "God's Wisdom for Marriage & The Home," when presenting the list of Biblical responsibilities for a godly husband, I handle the matter of godly communication as a sub-point under the responsibility for the husband to pursue companionship with his wife.  In the closing portion of Malachi 2:14, the Lord our God speaks to the husband concerning his wife, saying, "Yet is she thy companion, and the wife of thy covenant."  Our Lord's use of the phrase "thy companion" for the husband's wife indicates the following principle:

The godly husband must actively pursue a companionship with his wife as his dearest human friend.

Now, open and good communication is a necessary element of any good friendship relationship; therefore, we may also present the following principle:

The godly husband must openly communicate with his wife in a gracious manner that is good to the use of edifying.

Ephesians 4:29 -- "Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers."

So then, including these two contributions to the Bible study, we have the following principles:

    1.  The godly husband must leave his priority relationship with his parents.

    2.  The godly husband must continually cleave to his wife, and not ever allow himself to be separate in relationship from her.

    3.  The godly husband must continually pursue a one-flesh relationship with his wife.

    4.  The godly husband must love his wife just as Christ loved the church.

    5.  The godly husband must recognize his God-declared need for the help of his wife.

    6.  The godly husband must actively pursue a companionship with his wife as his dearest human friend.

    7.  The godly husband must openly communicate with his wife in a gracious manner that is good to the use of edifying.

This is good stuff brethren and worthy to be taken very seriously by us all, with point number 4 I often consider Ephesians 5:28-30 a huge and often daunting challenge, to emulate Christ's great love for the church and to love her as myself? I know I love my wife more than any other mortal, but fear I fall short of the expectations of this verse, it surely takes much self sacrifice and effort, perhaps over time I can achieve it...

Ephesians 5:28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. 29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church: 30 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.

I thank God for a godly wife, she makes it so much easier to be a godly husband, amen.

  5. When I study the Bible I always like to start at the beginning, if possible.

Genesis 2:18 And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.

From this passage I learn the following:

    1. The godly husband should not seek to be alone and separated from his wife.
    2. The godly husband should allow his wife to help him.

  6. Haha that joke is over 15 years old, I have it on file, but you got the characters around the wrong way! It's Tonto who gives the indepth answers and the Lone Ranger calls him the dumbie. icon_mrgreen.gif

The Lone Ranger is the hero remember, Tonto is his sidekick!

  7. Nice to meet you Kwame, I've never met anyone from Accra, Ghana before, I had to look it up on the map!

What's it like for Fundamental Christian's over there, is there persecution, are you permitted to witness the gospel openly?

May God bless your time here and encourage your daily walk, brother. amen.gif

  8. Well I believe hell right now is in the center of the earth, John....

Anyway Soj...the Bible says the devil and his angels will be thrown in the bottomless pit which I think is the same thing as the lake of fire....I don't have time to study it out right now but I understood them to be the same thing....

The bottomless pit is only recorded in the book of Revelation, it is like a prison, in Rev 9:1-2 you find an angel opening it with a key and releasing those supernatural locusts, and in Rev 20:2 an angel lays hold on the Devil and locks him in there with a key and chain for 1000 years, then he is released...I don't believe that the bottomless pit is to be equated with the lake of fire. A pit is a pit, and a lake is a lake, two different geographical locations. In saying that, the Lord may well but a bottom on that pit, fill it up with water, and then set it on fire when the time comes!

As for your black hole theory sister, there is a verse that comes to mind that may well give credence to it, outer space vs. outer darkness hmmm?

Matthew 22:13 Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

It's all good food for thought, it really doesn't matter to me one way or the other what and where the lake of fire is, what matters is that I'm not going there, thank Christ.

  9. A lake of fire would just have to be a huge body of fire.... obviously it won't be water. haha.

I think of it as a lake (which is a body of water) that burns with fire and brimstone.

Revelation 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

When I look at the usage of the word "lake" in scripture, at no time does the Lord qualify it as being a body of water, it goes without saying, it's understood that's what a lake is.

If the lake of fire is not a body of water, which burns with fire and brimstone, then I think the Lord would have used another word to describe it, like a bottomless pit filled with fire, etc.

  10. The Bible says it's a "lake", so if there's a lake inside a black hole then it might be a possibility, but so far 100% of the time a lake is a body of water surrounded by land!

The following passage in Isaiah talks about the future "new heavens and earth" where all flesh will come together to worship the Lord, likely in the New Jerusalem, or at the Jerusalem on the new earth, then it says they (including us) shall go forth and look at those in the lake of fire. We know it's the lake of fire by cross referencing scripture with scripture with Mark 9:44-48 where Jesus Christ used the same words "where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched".

Isaiah 66:22 For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain. 23 And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD. 24 And they shall go forth, and look upon the carcases of the men that have transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched; and they shall be an abhorring unto all flesh.

Therefore, rather than somewhere in outer space, I believe the lake of fire will probably be located somewhere on the new earth.

  11. This or not, I will do something. Something shall be done. I will not play checkers while the house burns. While millions of children are murdered by bloodthirsty "doctors."

It's good that you hate this sin so much, but it's not your responsibility to remedy it, it's God's. We need to trust that God knows what He's doing in the overall scheme of things, He certainly hasn't given instructions to the body of Christ to try and reform this world and the evil in it, God will do that soon enough when He returns. In the meanwhile we need to be about our Father's business, and that is leading souls to Christ and living righteously and in obedience to the word of God, which includes being in subjection to the powers that be which are ordained of God (Romans 13:1).

No amount of Christian lobbying and civil disobedience will stop the wickedness that continues throughout this ungodly world, but by prayer and witnessing the gospel we might be able to help rescue a few from it.

Jude 1:21 Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. 22 And of some have compassion, making a difference: 23 And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.

  12. Taken from my Facebook:
"It's this. On a set day, a bunch of guys (I say 'guys' for a reason) go to Wal-Mart, or some other store, to buy something. As they go to the cash-register and attempt to purchase the item, they refuse to pay tax, due to what the money would partially be going to (specifically, abortion; Planned Parenthood).

Meanwhile, a guy behind him, who would act like they didn't know each other, would have a camera pen in his shirt pocket, recording video and audio (for YouTube).

It's dangerous, as security, police, etc. could be called. You might get thrown in jail, fined, whatever. But it would get the point across - we don't want to support MURDER.

Lots of issues, like solid evidence for sales-taxes going to abortions, would be necessary.

So, that's the basic idea. Prayers appreciated. I believe Michael Marcavage of Repent America would be willing to help me out. The Lord's Will be done.

    God bless.

    God bless,
    Joel ><>.
    2 Chronicles 7:14.

You're acting for a good cause brother, but going about it the wrong way. Rebellion will only get you into trouble, and what's the benefit of putting it on You Tube, to entertain people??

By all means stand up for what you think is wrong, but do it lawfully and please God while you're at it.
  13. Them you must be very unhappy with the Bible.

Mt 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

For according to you the Bible got it wrong.

The only thing I'm unhappy about with that comment is your accusation that I think the Bible has errors in it, when I believe nothing of the sort. The Bible is perfect and without error, it's man's interpretation of it that is error.

Bro. Jerry, if you're going to resort to that kind of comment I don't wish to continue our discussion. eusa_naughty.gif
  14. That said, it's perfectly possible that demons may be allowed to disquise themselves or perform some things which might cause a person to thing there may be aliens. Of course demons also try to convince some people there are ghosts, that they can talk to their aunt harriet if they hold a seance, etc.

Demons? Where are they in the Bible? Oh you mean "devils", and their leader THE Devil, who is "the prince of the power of the air" according to Ephesians 2:2, which also calls him "the spirit" in the same verse.

Aliens the way the world views them, the way they are depicted by Hollywood, probably not. But devils moving around in "the air" messing with human minds, for sure!
  15. Stick with tradition I say, stuff these modern trends, they have no place in our church! This is just another sign of the world creeping into the Laodicean church.

I have an iphone with a good Bible on it, but the thought has NEVER crossed my mind to use it in church, I always leave my phone in the car. Cellphones & the like should be forbidden in the church meeting except for emergencies, it's God's time so leave all distractions outside, amen.

  16. Don't pretend to agree with what I have taught from God's word, when you reject it.

Covenanter, all that YOU have taught me from God's word is that it can be used wrongly to justify your false doctrine, and of course you would say the same about me. dry.gif

Again for the audience - The eternal security of the New Testament Christian is a wonderful TRUTH of scripture, don't be fooled by those who attack this blessed doctrine, they are deceived by Satan that God's gift of eternal life can be lost by backsliding and sin, which every one of us is capable of doing.

Covenanter, how many times have you lost your salvation and then regained it again? Or do you make the claim that you have never backsliden or sinned against God since becoming a Christian?

1 John 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
