  2. It seems to me that I am seeing a debate between that I have come to understand is CoC doctrine or tenets and Baptist (IFB if you like) with the CoC folks asking what we believe and then sitting out to show/prove us wrong. Kinda of like the new kid on the block determining that now his is the way and only way to believe. As to the translators, if what they did outside of the translating and how we came to understand the truth of the KJB because of the translating, meaning now people had the Word of God to go to rather than some man's interpretation. Are we to say because because Westcott and Hort were wicked and nonbelievers we should be too.

Paul was told that he would be told in what he was to do after his conversion on the Damascus road, after he got to Damascus not what he had to do to be saved. Peter said, "...repent , (comma) and be baptized ..." then Acts 2 goes on to say, 3000 were baptized and added to the church not just 3000 saved. Even in every instance of Christ preaching or teaching not all in attendance responded in conversion, as a matter of fact He rebuked those that disagreed with Him.

I don't believe in baptism as part of salvation, (what do you do about the thief on the cross), what happens to the individual that can't be baptized (car wreck, heart attack, the CoC baptistry is broken, being cleaned ...) are they then condemned or is there special circumstances?

  3. When you say Baptist you are putting Southern Baptist in that mix as well? I always thought their churches weren't autonomous because they still answered to the Southern Baptist Convention, I don't know a lot about them so I could be wrong.

Here is website that list 50 Baptist Associations - (http://www.allaboutb...com/groups.html) ?? some say they believe in the autonomy of the local church but to be part of their fellowship you are to become a member.
We at the Living Word Baptist Church call ourselves Baptist, I have had "people' disassociate with us because we won't label ourselves with their label. We/I am going to look at the basic doctrinal beliefs. We work with other churches, we are right now talking about a 3 week tent meeting. We will work together. I like the acronym of Baptist, I believe I already seen someone say maybe the KJB may not be an essential.

We are pre-tribulation that is essential to us.
  4. So what I am seeing is that there is a belief that a loving God, the One that sent His only Son, to pay for the sins of the whole world, would not show that grace to an infant. He stopped the disciples from sending them away from Him while He was here. I do not believe an infant goes to Hell. What kind of god would do that. Not my God!! Time and again God refers to children as His or a heritage from God. If your god would send infants to Hell you can keep him.

  5. twocents.gif We try to get the Gospel out however we can. In the parable of the sower the broadcast method was use. If you talk with any publick ministry group they will tell you there is the right and wrong ways to get the Gospel out, within the laws of the land.

Just a note, at a door, I always hand the the tract first, it seems that it is just natural for someone to take something that is being handed to them. Once they have its their, and I will say if they try to hand it back, "No thank you you may keep it."

  6. Enlarged and updated December 7, 2010 (first published March 18, 2010) (David Cloud, Fundamental Baptist Information Service, P.O. Box 610368, Port Huron, MI 48061, 866-295-4143, fbns@wayoflife.org; for instructions about subscribing and unsubscribing or changing addresses, see the information paragraph at the end of the article) -

The modern evangelical philosophy is often stated by the dictum, “In essentials unity; in non-essentials liberty; in all things charity.”

Though commonly attributed to Augustine, it was actually first stated by the 17th-century Lutheran Rupertus Meldenius (a.k.a. Peter Meiderlin).

It became the rallying cry of the Moravians, who did many good things but retained such Roman heresies as infant baptism and a priesthood and promoted unity above the absolute truth of God’s Word.

It was adopted by the Fundamentalist movement of the first half of the 20th century. As a movement Fundamentalism focused on unity around “the fundamentals of the faith” while downplaying the “minor issues.” The OBjective was to create the largest possible united front against theological modernism.

This dictum has also been an integral philosophy of New Evangelicalism. They might stand for ten or twenty or thirty “cardinals,” but they refuse to make an issue of the WHOLE counsel of God. Particularly when it comes to one’s associations, they believe that there are “non-essentials” that should not get in the way of unity.

Many Independent Baptists are buying into this error.

11backtotopic.gif Our let's start talking about what is essential. In the thread for that.

  7. Yeah, you're right - you're doing my jOB for me. Alcohol consumption is another topic, and one that has been beaten to death here.

With that said, I would separate from a church serving alcoholic wine at the Lord's table. That's an essential for me.

Amenamen.gifamen.gif No unity with churches that condone alcohol Baptist or other wise.twocents.gif
  8. As with other prophecies or parables He would make a statement and then later open the understand to His disciples later. They knew the account of Elijah and having met him on th Mount gave them the understanding of Jesus' statement. Jesus was confirming/reiterates Mal. 4:5.

  9. Yes two translated Enoch and Elijah/Elias, Enoch walked with God, Elijah went to Heaven in a whirlwind (not a firey chariot) II Kings 2:1. Enoch was not at the Mount of Transfiguration. Elias/Elijah was.

  10. The law says only authorized USPS mail in the box, you can put anything on the out side of it. We had a precious 80 yr. lady in the church concerned for her neighbors. She went down the block putting a church tract in each mail box. Long story short in talking with the Postal service that what they told us. Inside against the law, outside ok.

  11. Just to clarify my post, I'm not saying the sodomites are a new bunch of sinners "sodom" "ites", I meant their new push and the "coming out", and ability to take control of the agenda. There was a time in this nation morality was an utmost requirement to hold a position of responsibility. Now it seems the more deviate you are the more you can demand to be heard or protected.

  12. Bible study will show the difference between "old" and "new" wine. If the Bible says no drunkard would go to Heaven would Christ then send people to Hell, by making a wine that moveth of itself. Study up on fermentation. Vinegar is wine, and it is good for you, too. The KJB has more to say against liquor than for it and when it speaks of its use it is for medicinal purposes only. And that ain't to wash down a pizza. Know there is a difference between the fruit of the vine, and wine. And Jesus used the "fruit of the vine", Matt. 26:29; Mark 14:25; Luke 22:18.
