Brother Gary, I am so saddened by the news of your father's condition, but also rejoice in the knowledge that he is saved and has persevered. These are the kinds of things that try men's faith. I know yours is strong and will prevail.
Please rest assured that I will be in prayer for your father's comfortable passing into the loving arms of our Lord. I will also, as you asked, be in earnest prayer for your sister and brother's spiritual condition.
Thank you for letting us know of this request and giving us the opportunity to pray.

First up - Australia is a huge place and I am on the opposite coast to Queensland. Only about 4000km between us. ?
However, I do know the name. I don't know the man, but I do know the name and the church. I have some friends in the general area.
I was in Queensland earlier this year for some fellowship meetings, but brother Hyland was not there.

Well, we’re gonna try this and hope it works. I’ll have more to say (maybe), if/when I figure this out! LOL! In the meantime, please check out http://www.thegladtidingsbroadcast.sermon.tv, for some great preaching and mine too!

Well, here we are about to begin 2019 and you are still going strong. Looks like the Lord was in it!

    Happy New Year!
Or, as we say in Chinese;  新年快樂!
For you Westerners, this is the year 2019.
For us in China, or rather Taiwan (the communist government on mainland China, is now using the Gregorian, or Western, calendar), it is the Chinese Year 107. Today's date, at least on Taiwan, is: 107年01月01日。
Oh !!! I forgot one minor detail. The Chinese New Year, which changes year by year, does not actually start this year until February 2nd.
So, if all that I have said is a little confusing, don't worry, the Lord is not confused at all. God knows exactly what date it is and exactly when He will accomplish His will in all things. "But when the fullness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons." Galatians 4:4 & 5
Oh! One last thought,  I feel sorry for those who set dates for the Second Coming of Christ! Whose calendar do you use? Jewish? European? Gregorian? Chinese? Chaldean?

    This is entirely correct.
The qualifications for a man to enter the ministry, to be the pastor in a local, New Testament, church is clearly listed in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:10 All (all as in every one to the last man) of the men (and women), in the Charismatic churches, the Catholic church, the Reformed Churches, (including Reformed Baptist), are not qualified according 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-10
I do find fault with this thread as it seems that only the KJVO churches (and pastors), are at some fault. I did check out the forum, Baptist Board, that was referenced too. The members there disparage the KJV at will, use a variety of translations, and attend a variety of non-IFB churches. As usual, most of the non-KJV folks lash out at some fallen "leader," and use him to disparage KJV and Independent Baptist churches. The usual leaders are listed, Hyles, Anderson and Ruckman. And, the usual problems found in some of the IFB churches are listed. From a few pages that I read in the 'Baptist Board,' nobody made one critical remark about a non-KJVO individual. Interesting isn't it? All of the critical remarks were directed to KJVO men.
The churches that are KJVO are about the only men, and churches, in our age that are even qualified to be in the ministry.
As far as I am concerned, the whole issue is way out of proportion, led by (and fueled by), denominationalism, disgruntled saints, internet theologians, and internet forums. It almost seems that every time a pastor does preach on a 'hobby horse' he is food for the fodder and the congregation forgets the good that that pastor has done. If a pastor in a IFB church does not fit the qualifications of 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-10 then he should be put out of the ministry. If he does met the qualifications, than pray harder for him when he errors, preaches too many hobby horses, talks about tithing too much for your stomach, or some other subject you disagree with him. The average IFB pastor has enemies galore who non-stop abuse him verbally on every occasion. Why add to his sorrows?

"So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God"
It was not the Lord's main plan that people come to "church" to get saved as it is with the rock-n-rollers.  Most folks get saved outside of a New Testament church and then get baptized and join a NT church to get discipled.
An unprepared heart will reject the pants and rock-n-roll sermon but a regenerated heart will listen and search the scriptures.
By and large we cannot change the law of entropy, that everything is winding down and getting worse with time.  Generally speaking, a local church becomes more liberal as it ages until it ceases to be a NT church; of the kind that Christ built and died for during his earthly ministry.
Women from three and four generations previous to me would have never contemplated dressing like a man while ladies today make all manner of excuses to do so.  Same with their coverings.  Our pioneering forefathers cleared a forest and made a homestead from its trees with hand tools, while living without air-conditioning or vacations to Disneyland, while fighting off murderous indians, wild animals and disease.  Most of us today, myself included, lack a constitution 1/10 as strong as what they possessed.
The Lord Jesus promised that his churches will prevail against the gates of hell.  Lord willing, I shall always be a member of one until he calls me home.

You have not offended me Bro. Adam. The exception I took was with the phrase "Movement", which is in widespread use today by many
As to your question regarding how we go about getting out of the mess that has been created, I would offer a solution that has been with us from the beginning. This consists of not allowing ourselves or our church members to be influenced by forces outside of our local assemblies.
Install men of God in our local churches that are sound in the faith and conform to the biblical qualifications for pastors which say that pastors should be "apt to teach". By educating our future leaders in the local assembly we circumvent the process of our future leaders being influenced by so-called "movements", colleges and opinions of popular men, rather than The truth once delivered to the saints.
I know this is unpopular and some may even think it impractical and perhaps even impossible. But this is the biblical example and not above the power of God to accomplish in our churches if we really want it.
I was very fortunate in being able to be educated by an old school Baptist missionary pastor who was not only "apt to teach", by was on a scale of actually being a bible scholar. Even his sermons could be and were used by him as a teaching tool.

I do not consider the KJV an "issue" at all unless my individual church decides to use something else in place of it. It only becomes an "issue" among those of "like faith and order" when they look outside of each local church and see other versions being used.
I also take exception to the idea that IFB is a "movement". Each local assembly is Independent, therefore cannot be considered a "movement." "Movements" come about when God's people look outside of their local assemblies and follow men because of their "strong personalities."
Once God's people start down this road it is only a small step in the direction of conventions and associations. The word "Independent" means exactly what is says, independent from any outside influence or control. Once we depart from this simple definition we are setting ourselves up for problems. Scripture records that the churches we read about in the Bible were independent; this is not a name, it is a definition that denotes the stand each church takes for the truth regarding any outside control.

People of little faith!  God said he would preserve His Word and he does not need Riplinger, Ruckman, Anderson, or anyone else to keep it in front of the saints for Him!

There is no alternative, one either hold God's preserved word in their hands or a counterfeit.

1Co_10:31  Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.
Jos_1:8  This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

An important question to ask first is, Are you sure you were saved? How were you saved? Be sure this isn't just a phase in your religion du jour. I am not meaning to be mean or cause you to doubt, but there are many, many who believe themselves saved, that are trusting something wrong-a prayer, a baptism, a priest or pastor-how do you KNOW you're saved?
My wife's journey to Christ was similar to yours: raised by a former Catholic/atheist, she went through many areas of the New Age, studied with JW's, and was eventually born again, though she started off as a Pentecostal-she left them when she saw they really didn't follow the Bible too well, relied more on emotion. But when she was saved, there was definite fruit in that the Lord began to convict her about some things: for instance, Halloween had been her favorite holiday, but once saved, she saw clearly with wickedness of it and it was one of the first things to go in her life.   I see you are convicted about the smoking and that's good-don't get discouraged-years of smoking have taken a toll on your flesh, and while the spirit may be right now, you still have to deal with the sinful flesh. Keep praying, give it over to God-as one preacher I once heard said, you need to amputate it-not just back off, but get them out, away, don't buy them, remove yourself from being around people who smoke, change the habits that you associate with them. And above all, remember to deal with it as a sin, not just a bad habit. Repent of it, lay them smokes on the altar at your church and let God have them.

OFIB Preacher reacted to John Young in Just got saved a few weeks ago, but...
When I was a little kid I thought all sins and bad habits would stop once I got saved (including wetting the bed). Alas, faith in Christ did not stop my bad habits but it did put in me the Holy Ghost who gave in my heart the desire to stop them. Over time I got over some (including the one above!) but I am still working on many. Faith in Christ revived your spirit and saved your soul from Hell but does not automatically remove all the sin and bad habits from your flesh. For the things flesh related they will need to be washed though meditating and practicing the word of God. Your flesh will always be corrupt until you receive your glorified bod. Until then all you can do is keep it under control. You can't save it.

    Romans 7:14-25:

14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin. 15 For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. 16 If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good. 17 Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. 18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. 19 For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. 20 Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
21 I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.22 For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: 23 but I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. 24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? 25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

l really hate when discussing a verse like I John 5:7 about the Blessed Trinity knowing if they have a NIV or NASB I have to more than likely argue for a majority of that verse that has been remove from their versions.

    Remind people to introduce themselves.
The general flow of things on this forum is that false teachers either do not introduce themselves at all, or at best in a very limited way.
Press them for a testimony of salvation and for a clear statement of association - which church do they go to? At the very least what group the church they go to belongs to.
It is entirely reasonable to ask, but history tells us that the false teachers refuse.

Unfortunately, folk still take what Grandma said, over what God says. Grandma has been quoted as saying "if ya cain't say anythin' good 'bout 'em, don't say nothin' at all!" Only thing is, God says among other things, to reprove, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and doctrine. If someone's wrong in an area, folk need to be told and also to avoid said offender!
