Preacher elaborated on Brother Willis' situation tonight in the Prayer Room.  He said, they called him early Monday morning with the info about the heart attack.  Something did go wrong with a stent, but there was either little or no damage, can't remember his exact words there.  He asked us to continue praying for Brother Willis though, as he recovers.  Thanks for praying and sharing.

Talked with Brother Taylor earlier this evening (first time we've spoken since the wreck) and and long story short, it's a miracle he's alive!  He's understandably still very sore and on some meds, but he preached yesterday morning, saying the LORD gave him a message at 3AM that morning, so reckon he was supposed to preach it!  Still pray for him, his family and church, as he still has some recovery ahead.  Thanks for reading, praying and sharing!

Lookingfortruth, I am partly ashamed to admit this but at the same time hoping to encourage you on the same level. When we were looking for churches, my wife actually led the charge. She found a church she liked. We had been there before. I had family who attended it. I had no clue what their doctrine was at first, just that it was a Baptist church. I didn't learn it was independent until a year or so later. I had a thirst for knowledge. I had my thirst quenched at this church and haven't looked back. I am ashamed that my wife led the charge when it should've been me but it was HER faithfulness to truth that brought me along.

I must admit that I have never truly understood the full meaning of this verse, but God says it is so. Certainly one meaning has to be there is a great delight to suddenly wake up and no longer be sick and dying, to begin our second childhood.

"Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints" (Psalms 116:15 KJV).

It probably means that the Father is just happy to have another one of His saints to come on home.

Father, bless dear Dr. Baity who will have to go on alone for a little while, comfort him as You have comforted me, and other men that have lost their helpmeet through death, and help him to carry on. In Jesus' name, Amen.

LookingForTruth I would encourage you to not put too much stock in a name, such as IFB.  I have been an Independent Baptist all of my Christian life and never even heard of IFB until I joined this forum. Traditionally most Independent Baptists have always identified themselves as simply that; Independent Baptists.

The Church is built by Jesus Christ on the foundation that He is "The Christ" The apostles built local churches with Him as the Chief Cornerstone. All these are still His Church.

Are there tares in His Church? Yes. However, He tells us to let Him sort that out!
"Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved." Acts 2:47

I just listened to your fine message. Thank the Lord for you and what you do. I think some are confused on my stand and maybe I am not expressing it well enough. I believe in the "Local Church" and that we have a mighty work to do. In your message you mentioned someone that is truly born again should join with a local church for teaching and growth and I agree to that. If they do not do that right away I believe they are still part of the body of Christ and a member of His "collective" church. Were the churches of the New Testament not all part of this collective Church that began with Jesus and the apostles? I think of Paul's epistle to the Thessalonians about the rapture and I can't help but believe that his instruction was to all born again believers collectively. The New Testament speaks to us all. You pray for me and I'll do the same for you.

In your search for a church I believe it is important to attend all the services of the week.  Do not make a judgement based on the Sunday morning services only because many/most pastors will preach messages designed for the lost to salvation, or the baby christian.  The Sunday evening services tend to be more "practical christian living" messages, and the Wednesday evening services are for the "core members" and typically consist of the weightier doctrines and beliefs.  This pattern is sometimes referred to as "Seed, Feed and Weed".  You won't really know a church until you have sat through a few weeks of services attending each one.

Praying that God will lead, guide and direct you to the church He would have you join. When you find one, unless you know it immediately, take a few weeks to visit and watch and listen. Meet with the pastor . . . though he'll likely initiate a meeting himself. You'll do best by attending all services and hopefully establish that as a pattern. Certainly, visit with his wife for she likely have much wisdom to share. Also praying that your husband will get right with the Lord and find a place where he can grow in the Lord.

Not many IFB churches officially identify as such - most just call themselves independent Baptist.
It is the clear reliance on the Bible, and the intent to follow the Bible in all things that separates a poor church from a fundamental Baptist church.

That's okay. I don't even agree with myself half the time. I should probably have said that the church was "empowered" on the day of Pentecost . . . when was it "established"? I agree with you in the sense that there is no verse we can point to which states, on this day I establish the institution which will be known as my body and my bride. But we know it was future in Matthew 16 and present in Acts.

HMMMM, BBB, good points, however, I personally believe that the church was started before Pentecost, but not in Matthew 16, John 20 IMHO.  Matthew 16 is a promise for the future and in Acts 2, the church had to be there already, since folk were added to it.  Speaking of adding, if I may do so, I'd like to add a link to a message I brought along those lines a while back from Colossians 1, if you please.  I don't have it all figured out at all, but I believe this will further explain things and be a help/blessing.  Sunday, May 6, 2018 http://jeremiah616.sermon.net/main/main/21147528

I will agree with the believers part and at that time they were all the believers that existed. I recognize the Pastor as Jesus Christ..wasn't Judas the keeper of the purse at the time (treasurer)? IMHO I just believe that salvation adds to the Christ's Church (which this was). He is my Shepard (Pastor). I am an under-shepard  of His flock at Old Fort NC. Thanks for the reply and Pray for me.
