  1. Just in case anyone missed this....
On Amazon you can download a free app which allows you to download and read Kindle Books on your PC or Mac.

In addition, there are a number of free books available. (Sort Christian books by price). I just downloaded (for free) "Concerning Christian Liberty - Letter of Martin Luther to Pope Leo X"

  2. I'm glad the Blackhawks won. Anyone but a team from Philly.

but the winning goal was SOOOOO anti-climactic! Seems they were robbed of that "magic moment" when the horn and light failed to go off!

  3. Bro. Greg "Holster", I checked out your site a little today. It's very nice and well done. I like the pulpit area on your platform the wood behind it, I think it looks good. What is that picture behind you? I couldn't make it out.

Directly behind me? That's a "window" to the Baptistry which sits just behind that wall. The "picture" is wall mural of a like scene which is on the back wall of the Baptistry.

  4. My hubby likes subs and we noticed that JimmyJohns has a really good deal tomorrow during lunch. Can't remember the price, but he thought it was good. I had forgotten that there is a JimmyJohn's here in town now, so I just might surprise my honey with one tomorrow. :icon_mrgreen: (Subs don't ring my bell, Jerry8...tacos do! :coverlaugh: )

JimmyJohns???? sounds like pajamas. Never seen one.

  5. In our town Taco Bell is in the KFC, but its on its way out, they're getting rid of Taco Bell. Its OK with me, Taco's don't ring my bell.

Taco's don't ring my bell Jerry8... That priceless!;)

  6. At church today, we had our usual Tuesday seniors lunch. We call it the Bethany Lunch. We had Roast lamb, mint sauce, roast potatoes, carrots and peas followed by apple crumble and ice cream with tea or coffee before and after. We charge £2, about $3.00.

The speaker did not turn up so I had to think of something in five minutes.

How about "Filling the belly with Roast Lamb is great, but filling the Soul with the Word of God is better!

  7. I haven't been to a Sonic in years! They don't have them up here. When I lived in OK, my friends and I went when we could. Cheese fries and lime Coke were our favorites.

I've never had any of their onion rings, but I do love good ones!!

I don't know where they get their onions but I honestly have NEVER tasted onions so sweet. It's almost like they crossed an onion with Joel Osteen's smile.

  8. The best deal right now is at Taco Bell. You can get a mondo burrito, with a small bag of doritos and a medium drink all for $2. It's that's not enough for ya, you can throw on one more item for under a buck and get the whole thing for $3!

I'll do that soon! By the way... I'm writing a new book entitled "Revelation So Simple, No Roadmap Needed." :)
  9. Here's my submission for "best tasting and best value fast food meal deal."

Sonic - Get the large onion rings (sweetest onions ever!) and two (2) Jr. Burgers from the dollar menu. Total $4.00

(and today,,, they even had "buy one shake, get one free")

  10. I still do not understand why any of you would want to take her right to free speech away? Surely you would not want yours taken away from someone on that side. And that is exactly what happens when something like that gets started.

As I have said, now for the 3rd time, I totally disagree with her. Are we now on a crusade of shutting everyone up who disagrees with us. I only thought the liberals and or dictators would do such a thing.

Helen Thomas Apologizes for Jewish Remark

Jerry.. I will say again, I'm not in any way taking away her right to free speech. What I would like to see is her privilege to be an official White House reporter taken away. You can't seem to see the difference.... I'm sorry for that.

  11. If anyone gets canned from the press corp, it want be a liberal, least not while Mr. OBama is in charge of the White House.

Can't a news organization hire who they want? I surely hope so, when they can't America will be in even worse shape than they are now in.

But why take in after me? I said very plain I did not approve of her! Its almost like y'all are jumping on me as if I'm defending what she said. What goes anyway?

I just fail to understand with all the talk about freedom, them because of what she said you want to shut her up and shut her out. What if someone comes along and wants to shut you up? If you try to shut up people such as her, they will be coming after you. Of course the liberals are already trying to shut down conservative talk radio.

Jerry8... not sure I understand your sensitivity here. I assure you if you think I was "jumping on" you that's not the case. My entire focus was on the story.

And the point here is wisdom and being smart, not whether someone has this and that right. A pastor has the "right" to say whatever he wants, this is America, but..... I wouldn't think a lot of a pastor who gets in the pulpit and starts calling out the sins of individual people and bashing them. That is just plain dumb whether he has the right or not.

The whole world watches this stuff. It is DUMB (yes I'm shouting) for a White House Reporter to say such trash. It only supports those who want to wipe Israel off the map! She should be fired immediately. She can still speak her mind even as one without a jOB.

  12. Dave, I said I did not agree with her. I did not say the Jewish nation should be kicked out of Israel. I just commented, this is a free country, why kick someone out for expressing their opinion. If that happened this would stop being a free country, them even we might be shut up completely.

Ms Thomas is free to express any view she wants. But why would any news organization allow a person like this to be their White House press corp reporter? That is the issue... not whether or not she is free to express her views. Check out this video... She deserves to be on the press corps?????

Here she is telling the White House to condemn the attack because Isareal "deliberately attacked and killed" people on the ship. This is the jOB of a White House Reporter???

  13. A tract can be just as good when sharing the Gospel with someone, but it isn't the whole Bible and doesn't claim to be.

Ahhhh... exactly my point! How much of your Bible do you remove before it's not The Word of God? I say "One Word." Remove on word and you have corrupted the Word of God!

  14. But what about the churches that use the KJV--like the Seventh Day Adventists, Mormons and Pentacostals?

A doctrine cannot be built around one single verse. When looking at the whole counsel of the Word of God, the NIV teaches that salvation is by grace through faith. :)

(I hope it is okay to post these for illustrative purposes. If not, I sincerely apologize!)

Eph 2:8, 9: For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.

Also, with v 37 taken out (still being included in the footnotes), we still see Phillip has shared the Gospel with the eunuch and can ascertain that he believed on Christ before being baptized once we look at all of what the Bible says. After all, looking at Acts 16, we see faith preceeded baptism.

Ac 16:31-34: They replied, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household." Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all the others in his house. At that hour of the night the jailer took them and washed their wounds; then immediately he and all his family were baptized. The jailer brought them into his house and set a meal before them; he was filled with joy because he had come to believe in God—he and his whole family.

Thank you for the link! I will try to find some time to read it.

And thanks all of you for your responses so far! It's great to get into the Word and discuss our beliefs, all in a civilized, Christ-like way. :)

It doesn't bother you that verse is removed? A tract can also contain the doctrine of salvation and grace through faith. So do you maintain that a tract is just as "good" as the Bible, since it does not remove the doctrine?

  15. I would honestly like to know, not intending to start a fight or anything, where a doctrine is changed when going from the KJV to a mainstream MV. Are there any examples you could give?

Sure... take out Acts 8:37 as the NIV does and you have baptism without salvation first.

Not only that.... if God came to my house and gave a word for word message to the readers of Online Baptist, then I sat down and posted it with this note attaced: "Here's God's message directly to you at OB.... oh, by the way... I left out some words and sentences and changed some others so that in, my opinion, you can understand his message better." Well.... would that be accpectable?
