  1. Had some kind of "grey" meat product found in the bottom of chest freezer from who knows when.  Used it in extra spicy and HOT chili recipe so that the type of meat like grey material it was didn't matter.  With enough Habanero sauce in the chili, my taste buds were fried enough that I didn't taste the freezer burn...or the beans, onions, tomato sauce, or the ice cream I had two hours later.  Maybe by morning I will be able to taste coffee if I make it like we did when on ship; thick enough to not slosh out of the cup with the rocking of the boat.

After that, I put up my chest freezer on Craig's List and went down to Lowe's and bought a new upright freezer with LOTS of baskets and shelves so I never again have mystery items lurking in the deep dark depths of my freezer.

    Bro. Garry

Brother Garry, that is so hilarious!  Mystery meat as you called it in another post.  I remember eating mystery meat in college. They would serve the same meat Monday through Sunday and make it several different ways, in hopes to masquerade it to the college students.  Their plan failed.  We knew what they were doing.  I can't do that with my husband.  He loves his food, but is very careful to make sure it isn't spoiled.  And, he wouldn't dare eat freezer burned meat.  Not a chance.

Dinner Tonight:  I pulled a roast from the freezer this morning.  I think I will do mashed potatoes with it.  And, steamed mixed vegetables.

  2. This is terrible!  $600,000 in one Sunday service?  Not that I would want my church to become a mega church, but $600,000 would be a nice number to build on our property.

I hope they find the thieves.

  3. This sounds so delicious, Brother Garry.  I like a simple recipe, though.  ;)  My grandmother (my mom's mom) and my mom went to NYC before my mom married my dad in 1958.  They toured the city together.  Anyway, they went to the New York Spaghetti House.  My grandma was able to talk the chef into giving her the recipe for the sauce.  My mom used to make it growing up.  My sister has all my mom's recipes, though.

Last night my husband, son, and I celebrated my 50th birthday with his family at a nice family restaurant.  I had an 8 oz. strip steak, mashed potatoes, corn, and soup before supper was served.  They brought me a birthday cake after we ate, with a candle on top.  Everyone including the restaurant owner sang "Happy Birthday" to me.  My son also gave me a dozen red roses.  He knows already what a woman wants.  LOL!  My husband gave me a nice watch with my birth stones in it.  He ordered it from Avon, so I hope it holds up.  I have bought so many watches in the past, and all of them seem to fall apart.  My in-laws got me a nice journal, and the nieces and nephews made me a huge card and gave me balloons, and tied them to my chair.  I sent the balloons home with them, b/c I knew how much they liked them.

It was so nice to go out, relax, and not have to cook dinner.  My husband told me this morning to ask my brother to buy take out for dinner tonight.  It's been such a relaxing week.

  4. Despite the denial you are correct. I know of one who used to moderate on this site who would shot down every pastor who wasn't him.

My policy is that you can get something good from just about every man of God. Even bible correctors. Just toss out the bad and use the good. This will help you avoid joining any "camps".

I believe that ASOD.  I have listened to various IFB pastors, and that is what I do.  I try not to look for the negatives in a pastor.  I have heard my own pastor say things that I don't agree on.  Yet, I still sit under his authority.  Just because I don't agree with everything a pastor says, unless it is God's word, doesn't mean I can't take something good from their sermon.

  5. Amen, John.  I found out all about these IFB "camps" when I was a member of Online Baptist, years ago.  That is when the Ruckmanites were on board.  These "camps" are ridiculous, and only divide IFB's.  It was a huge turn off to me.  I actually was so discouraged by it, that I talked with the evangelist that they me to the Lord about it.  He said, don't worry about what a few have to say.  Stick with the Bible and what it says, and you can't go wrong.

  6. So now you are attacking Golden State Baptist College and Dr. Jack Trieber, West Coast Baptist College, and Hyles Anderson.  Three of the best colleges in America.  I graduated Pacific Coast Baptist Bible College, San Dimas, CA (since moved to Oklahoma City and named Heartland Baptist College) in 1982 when Dr. Jack Baskin was president, you have venom to spread against them and Dr. Baskin too?    You are treading on very thin ice with God in such attacks.

    Numbers 12:1 (KJV)
1  And Miriam and Aaron spake against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married: for he had married an Ethiopian woman.

Was Moses in the wrong for marrying an Ethiopian, when God clearly commanded Israel to marry ONLY within Israel?  Absolutely, Moses was wrong, BUT who did God punish in His fierce wrath?

    Numbers 12:8-12 (KJV

8  With him will I speak mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches; and the similitude of the LORD shall he behold: wherefore then were ye not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?
9  And the anger of the LORD was kindled against them; and he departed.

10  And the cloud departed from off the tabernacle; and, behold, Miriam became leprous, white as snow: and Aaron looked upon Miriam, and, behold, she was leprous.
11  And Aaron said unto Moses, Alas, my lord, I beseech thee, lay not the sin upon us, wherein we have done foolishly, and wherein we have sinned.
12  Let her not be as one dead, of whom the flesh is half consumed when he cometh out of his mother's womb.

We never hear of a single rebuke from God over the obvious shortcoming by Moses in doing this wrong, it was the attack on God's prophet and trying to usurp his leadership position that angered God.  So just keep attacking great men of God and the Bible Colleges that are turning out wonderful IFB Pastors by the hundreds.

    Bro. Garry

Hyles Anderson is not a well liked college on Online Baptist, Bro. Garry.  I happened to mention that with pastors, "I eat the water mellon and spit out the seeds."  One of the mods said that "eventually someone will choke on those seeds."  This was in reference to Hyles Anderson.  You will notice that mention of certain colleges and pastors get shot down by the mods on this site.  I merely point out the good in IFB preachers b/c I wasn't raised IFB.  I came out of the RCC, and got saved later in life.  I am extremely thankful for the IFB and take the good with the bad in what preachers say.  Christians, brought up in the IFB faith, or Christianity in general, tend to look at the bad more than the good.  It is very disheartening to hear and see this.

  7. You forgot to mention the cheese sauce for the steamed broccoli, surely you wouldn't serve that without a good cheese sauce?!

LOL!  Actually, I do Garry.  We aren't real cheese people in my house.  My husband loves Swiss cheese with beef sticks and crackers, though.

  8. Always worth pointing out what's really being said for others that may be reading, though. Later on, if I get time, I'll find the other thread where I saw STIC make and defend this argument.

Thanks, Al.  I would like to read that one.  There is no excuse for poor Christian behavior.  When I have made a mistake, I apologize.  Whether I am wrong or right, isn't the issue.  Who started it, isn't either.  Christians should apologize for their non-Christian behavior.  I don't treat my two dogs like this.  *sigh*

  9. Thanks guys but I have seen this all before.  I put them on my ignore list so I don't see what they are writing it only makes me angry.

But it has been my experience that when they are confronted they will only try and justify their statements and make it seem they have done nothing wrong.

I have seen this in the filed and here in the States it is a constant truth just as constant as the Gospel itself.

You're welcome, AVBB.  No justification will work, to weasel out of unkind remarks to a brother in Christ.  If anything, God knows their actions, and that is really all that matters.

Why Christians act like this is beyond me.  I have seen this many times on Facebook.  That is the reason I came back to Online Baptist.  No one should be attacked on a Christian site.  It is deplorable!

  10. SFIC doesn't think AVBB is brethren, Candlelight. He thinks AVBB is lost, and Swath affirms that view. Here's the logic of SFIC's 'different Jesus' statement:

    1. No-one is saved except through Jesus Christ.

    2. Any who believe that the world was created in more than six days believe in a different Jesus.

    3. AVBB believes the world was created in more than six days.

    4. Ergo AVBB believes in a different Jesus.

    5. Ergo AVBB is unsaved.

Last time I saw SFIC use this 'different Jesus' argument was on an alcohol thread about a year ago and at the time he concluded that quite a few people on the thread were unsaved. SFIC isn't being so direct about it this time, instead he's posed the accusation as a question as if he doesn't know full well that AVBB holds to a gap theory.

So there you go. The ultimate conclusion of the argument, of course, is that if a person has an incorrect view about any part of scripture whatsoever, by so doing they worship a different Jesus and are thus unsaved.

I gathered that by the posts the SFIC and swath were making to AVBB.  That is totally wrong and extremely unacceptable on a Christian forum.  This thread is ridiculous, in fact.  I agree with John's post above.  And, women are emotional?   :eek   If I were looking on this site, and came across this thread, this would be the last place I would look to fellowship or to help me find the truth, if I were unsaved.   :runforhills:   Shame on them!  We are not the Holy Spirit.  Last I checked, God was on the thrown, not SFIC or swath, or any person on this site, for that matter.  People need to stop playing the Holy Spirit.  It is not up to man to judge who on this forum in saved and who is unsaved.  I believe people on OB are children of God.  Just because I may not agree with something they say, or how they chose to live their lives, doesn't give me the power to judge their salvation.  None of us are "The Great I am."

  11. Who said I was angry? I am not angry at all.

I merely point out the inconsistencies in AVBB's teaching, and with whom they are actually more in agreement with. The gap does question God's Word, just as the serpent did in the garden.

And the AV states that the earth was created within a six-day period of time. To say a creator took more time than that is to point to another than the one in Scripture.

SFIC, I am certain you are not angry.  However, sometimes your posts come across being very brutal.  It appeared to me that you were attacking AVBB.  Your words, "Yea hath God said,..." does refer to the serpent in the Book of Genesis.  I got the impression that you were referring to AVBB as the devil.  I do not believe in the "Gap Theory" however, I don't bash anyone for their beliefs, nor do I indicate to them that they are unsaved.  That is what you were doing.  Just because AVBB believes in the "Gap Theory" doesn't mean he is not a child of God.  KWIM?

  12. Amen, Ukelemike.  I come on Online Baptist to fellowship with like-minded believers.  We should be exhorting one another not tearing each other down.  Sometimes, we need to be careful with our words.  Our speech should edify one another.  If we disagree with someone on something, we should be able to agree to disagree without name calling.  Don't we have enough trouble with the lost in the world, without having to be concerned about attacks from the brethren?

  13. We had a good time last night.  Tonight, we will celebrate my birthday relaxing at home.  Chili is in the crockpot. Mmmmmm.

Happy Birthday, HC!  Chili sounds nice on a cold winter's day.

We are having breaded chicken, mashed potatoes, peas and carrots, and strawberry jello with fresh strawberries.

  14. Today is my hubby's birthday. He loves Ryan's (buffet).  I asked what he wanted for his birthday, and he said Ryan's.  So we'll be eating at Ryan's tonight.

Happy Birthday to your hubby, HC.  Ryan's is very yummy.

Pray for me, tonight our Japanese exchange student promises to make us fall in love with Sushi.  I am made especially nervous when she stated we are not allowed to ask what is in it until after we have tried it...

    Bro. Garry

Rut-roh.  I just said a prayer for you, Garry.  Hope you enjoy.  I think Sushi is tasty.

  15. Tonight:  Lamb chops, rice, fresh green beans, and salad.

Praise Report:  My brother did the evening dishes for me, last night, b/c he could see I was tired from the running around I did all day.  This is the third time in five years that he has done this dishes.  I was so happy!  That is progress:)

  16. One Man's chronology, Lightfoot, in Ussher's work, put the first day at 4004 b.c.

Another, currently alive, puts this as year 6240 .

The difference comes from where they began to use history, which is less reliable than Scripture.

    I go with the latter

Either way, we are into the 7th millenium, enough to cast off the 'thousand year day' crowd's ignorance.

    Anishinaabe

You have given two numbers.  Therefore, it is possible that one of them is wrong.  As I said, I am not concerned about what the exact year of the world is.  Scripture doesn't clearly define it.  Souls are lost.  They are in need of the saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.  I don't concern myself with things such as this, b/c it doesn't effect a person's salvation.  If you are interested in it.  Fine.  Go for it...

Be careful throwing the word, "ignorance" around on a Christian site.  Not everyone is going to agree with you about "Dispensational Theology" in this respect.

  17. The Bible doesnt speak on it? He gives us exact year measurements from Creation to the last king of Israel, in the Scriptures, and then modern written history meets it there, which He well knew would happen. Anishinaabe

Do you have an actual number, prophet?

  18. Not that many will agree with this.  I don't know the answer, as to how old the earth is.  According to Orthodox Judaism we are in the year 5,775.  This is the Hebrew calendar.  I don't know if this is Jewish tradition or if this is a factual number, though.

I am not concerned about it.  The Bible does not speak on it, and therefore, I believe it is best to concentrate on winning lost souls to Jesus Christ, when God opens a window of opportunity.  We are also called to plant seeds to the lost and exhort the brethren.

"Then saith, he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few;  38  Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest." ~ Matthew 9:37-38

  19. Yesterday, we had a fellowship luncheon at my church.  We had a missionary to the people of Papua New Guinea speak in Sunday School and also preach the A.M. service.  We had a Mexican fiesta for lunch.  On days like these, we don't have evening service - just half day church service.

  20. Angel DNA.??!!! ROFL

Beam Me Up.......Brotherman.....I think you been watchin' WAAAAY YONDER too much StarTrek ... :)

This is the kind of thinking I encountered on the Facebook site, F.A.R. ~ Fallen Alien Resistance.  Needless to say, I don't believe in this nonsense.
