  1. Yes, I've noticed having a "good pope" has really caused a lot of prOBlems. Not only are Catholics more emboldened to think they are good with God, but many non-catholics are thinking the new pope is a real Christian and some are even joining the RCC!

So much deception and it makes it so hard to reach folks with the Gospel when they already think they are in good standing with God and assured of a heavenly home.

Little do these RC's know that this pope is not a "good pope."  I have posted about the atrocities of the Jesuits on my FB Timeline.  My sister and one of my first cousins always rocket in from Pluto when I speak out on anything about the Vatican.  My first cousin has debated me via private message, too.

Very true about people joining the RCC, John.  Many RCC's have baptismals set up to bring in the Protestants.  They get the Protestants in, dunk them for membership, and these former Protestants believe they are saved.  They are coming into the RCC in droves because of this pope.  Attendance in RC churches in my area is up quite a bit.  Why not?  You can do anything in the RCC and still be assured that you are in good standing with God.  Although, we know that is a lie from Satan.  When I was in my early 20's, my RC friends used to go to a RC church in downtown Cleveland on Saturday night.  As far as works is concerned, St. Malachi is great.  They have a wonderful homeless ministry and a soup kitchen.  Anyway, my friends checked in, did their duty, got it over with, and proceeded to go to the bars in an area called "The Flats" in Cleveland.  I have so many old friends from high school on FB that party like it is 1999.  They are 50, and still going to the bars.  Many of them go with their children.   :eek I have an old friend from HS whose husband is in a rock band.  Another friend from junior high is in a reggae band.  It never surprises me what I see on Facebook from the lost.  Many HS friends pleaded with me to go to the last high school class reunion.  I  have never been to one, and don't care to ever attend one.  Now, some junior high friends from the Parochial School I attended, are setting up a class reunion.  I have turned them down, as well.  What kind of a testimony would I be setting if I went to these reunions?  Surely not a good one.

  2. Sounds like a great sermon to hear and learn from!

It's a real shame there are so many folks who talk good of Jesus, say they love God, sometimes even attend church, most often think they are going to heaven, yet have never been born again. This little town is very "Christian" but unfortunately it seems most are Christian in name only. They attend church, many are seen as "good Christian folks" but they are as lost as OBama.

It saddens me so much to think of these sort of people who really think they are Christians and okay with God but will one day hear Jesus tell them He never knew them, depart.

    Yes, it was awesome!

How true that is.  Since this pope has been in the Vatican, many RC's believe they are saved.  I run across them in town.  I ask them, "Was there ever a time in your life, that you called out the Name of Jesus Christ, asked Him to become your Saviour, take away your sins, and you truly trusted in Him?"  I get the usual response, "I am a good person, I go to church, I have competed the Sacraments, etc."  This opens up the door for me to witness to them.  However, since Pope Francis believes that an Atheist can go to heaven, they usually ignore when I am witnessing to them.  It is extremely sad.  It is easier to witness to an un-churched person than it is to a devout RC.  Sadly, many RC's are going back to the "church" b/c of this pope.  *sigh*

  3. Yep, I grew up listening to Johnny Cash as well. When I was a young child my Mom gave me several country albums, including Johnny Cash. I always liked the song Walk The Line. His singing of Gospel songs is great, and I also still like Loretta Lynn's Gospel singing too.

Oh, I forgot about Loretta Lynn's gospel singing.  My family listened to those, as well.

  4. It's amazing how certain songs from our youth can trigger memories and feelings after all these years.

It certainly is.  Our pastor friend, in southeastern, OH, and his wife don't like the music of Johnny Cash.  I grew up on Cash, as my dad loved his music and his distinctive voice.  I have the gospel songs of Johnny and June Carter Cash.  I also believe Johnny was saved as a young boy.  And, June Carter was also born again.  His prOBlem with drugs and alcohol give testimony that the Lord can take away any sin out of a person's life.  I asked my friends if they ever watched the movie, "Walk the Line."  They haven't.  Anyway, on Cash's gravestone is one of my favorite scriptures.

"Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength and my redeemer." ~ Psalm 19:14

  5. Are you sure he's saved but backslidden or could he possible yet be unsaved? It's not uncommon for children to grow up like that, learn the right sayings and how to act the part, sometimes even believing they are a true Christian, but yet never having actually been born again.

That's good of you to help out his parents in trying to help him.

That's a good question, John.  He might actually be unsaved.  Although, he does seem to agree with friends on my wall who love modern versions of the Bible.  He also speaks of Jesus in a positive light, so I know he does love God.  Several years ago, he got married to an unsaved woman and has two handsome sons.    He constantly posts about sports on his Timeline.  The only time he gets into spiritual things is when he posts on my wall and also on the walls of other people from his church.  There are a group of us that are trying to encourage him.  He is close friends with a Christian woman who he graduated from school with.  She knows him better, and would be able to tell me if he is saved or not.

His parents are wonderful people.  Years ago, his dad had open heart surgery.  He preached in my church, the night before his surgery, on "The High Cholesterol Sins of the Heart."  He talked about how born again Christians always look for outward sins like drinking, smoking and swearing... yet they overlook things like pride, arrogance, envy, wrath, etc.  His message hit home with many Christians as he talked about the sins of the heart, that are only seen by God not man.  It was a great message!

Thanks.  I do what I can to help bring him back to the flock.

  6. When I'm at my sisters house the TV is on constantly. With baby boomers getting older now and wanting to relive their youth companies are cashing in on selling them the 70s and 80s music the younger boomers grew up with. There is also a market among some of the youth who this music is new to.

At least back then I was mostly OBlivious as to what the songs were actually about. These days if I hear a song from back then I actually catch the lyrics and think "Wow! That's what they were singing about?!"

I don't know how people can listen to the T.V. all the time.  I boggles my mind, and reminds me of noise pollution.  I love the Hallmark station and AMC.  My hubby and I also watch, "This Old House" and the carpenter/contractor Ron Hazelton.  These two shows are informative and give us ideas with projects on how to build our house when we move to south eastern, OH.  That is if we decide to build instead of going with a pre-fab/modular home.

I enjoyed the 70's music before I got saved.  However, I have no interest in listening to it anymore.  The 80's music seemed shallow to me.  I grew up on listening to Folk Music and other older artists, as my parents were born in 1928 and 1930.  From time to time, I hear a folk song while in public and it reminds me of my childhood.

  7. Backsliders have a bad habit of trying to drag other Christians away with them. I think it makes them feel better if they see others fall away.

Exactly, John.  Sadly, his dad is a wonderful evangelist.  This man also had the privilege of going to Christian school all his life.  He loves to come on my Facebook wall and stir up trouble.  When he does this, I give him verses from the KJV.  He will argue for a bit, but he eventually stops, because I continue to stay the course.  One of the reasons I keep him as a friend on FB is because I told his parents I would.  They appreciate my help.

  8. TV commercials are using a lot of music from the 70s and 80s these days. I find it oddly humorous that some of these once "great" songs and bands are now having their music used to sell some of the oddest stuff.

Yeah, I have noticed that John.  As much as I try to ignore the T.V., with my brother living with us, I can't avoid hearing the T.V. when he comes home from work and parks himself in his Lazy Boy for the afternoon and evening.  They are also advertising 1970's and 1980's music on T.V.  You know, those huge collections of big hits during those years?  I think I'll pass...

  9. Give them a good fryin' in a hot skillet and then they are really good for somethin'!

While it sounds great to fry catfish is a hot skillet, I am not sure that the catfish (people) I am talking about would appreciate that, John.  ;)  BTW, these catfish are Christians I know in person, from another IFB church.  One is backsliden, and knows it, even brags about it, but still manages to try my patience.

  10. Fresh razorback clams dug up by friends this morning who just got back from Vancouver WA.  Those were soooooo good breaded, and for me (the others have no taste) doused in Malt Vinegar  Homemade cornbread hushpuppies, and steamed vegetables.  Cherries are in full season now here, so we have homemade u-pick Bing Cherry ice cream with chucks of Dove Dark Chocolate thrown in.

Brother Garry, you are the head chef on OB.  Your posts on food, make my mouth salivate.  Yum!

  11. LOL  Li Bia Jai:)  I will be peeling and cutting the potatoes in a 1/2 hour then cook them for 1 - 1 1/2 hours.  I got up extra early to check in on OB, then I will do the preparations for our luncheon.

    Mmmm.  Love stir fry.

  12. Wild Turkey harvested just this week during the spring turkey season, and wild onions, with lambs quarters (kind of a wild spinach).  By the way, wild turkey doesn't taste anything like the butterball you get from the store.

A small trivia note about wild turkey's.  Did you know that Benjamin Franklin campaigned hard for the wild turkey to be the official U.S. Bird instead of the Bald Eagle?  He was defeated by only 3 votes!

    Sounds delish, Brother Garry.

Yes, I knew that piece of trivia.  I am glad he lost the vote.  :)

Last Night's Supper:  Succotash  and salad.

Today's Supper:  Church luncheon fellowship.  The theme for the luncheon is "Potluck."  I am bringing potatoes.

  13. Mmmm.  Tacos and burritos are one of my favorites.  Love the homemade ones, too!

Last Night's Supper:  Chinese.  General Tso's Chicken, with fried rice and egg rolls.

Tonight's Supper:  Church tonight.  Home cooking at an inexpensive family restaurant.  I usually get fish.  Otherwise we will have Wendy's or eat at the Hungarian kitchen.  I leave these decisions up to my hubby.

An easy week for me.  Hardly any cooking.  It happens from time to time.  :)

  14. Last Night's Supper:  Pot roast.  Strawberry jello with fresh strawberries and whipped cream on top for dessert.

Tonight's Supper:  My brother and I will order takeout.  I don't know what yet.  My hubby went to work early today and is taking a client out for golf in the afternoon.  He will eat out with his client.

  15. We usually have a snack before church and something more substantial when we get home.

I know many other Christians that do that, Invicta.  If I wasn't retired, we would do the same thing.

There was a report on the news a couple of weeks ago, that Subway over here are only doing Halal food in some of their branches.

I didn't hear that one.  Thanks for the heads-up Invicta.  I like subway but my hubby doesn't.  We also have many other sub stations in town.

I heard awhile back, on Facebook, that KFC is doing Halal food.  I don't know if that is true, though.

Please do I'd like to see your part of the country.

I had fresh green beans, cucumbers, tomatoes all from Florida and a small piece of streak.

I would like to see pictures, too.  I should have remembered that you live in the Pacific NW, Brother Garry.

Sounds like my kind of meal, MC.   :hungry:
