I studied for a while through TBDI (http://www.tbdi.org/)and I know they are a KJB only college yet I can't remember ever been told catergoriaclly not to. I personnally will not use a dictionary or lexicon to get the meaning of a paasage or behind a word as I beleieve the context of the passage will always supply the required meaning - this is plain understanding of english - if the meaning is not immediatly obvious a little digging in the chapter will reveal it every time. I will however use them to get a little historical background to the author or setting for some deeper understanding if required.

I personally believe the KJB is plain enough without creating confusion from the opinions of others.

Wilchbla got a reaction from HappyChristian in Question - Are Baptists Protestants?
It was the Anglicans who were the main reason the Pilgrims left England. Also, a study of early Baptist history here in America will tell you how bad the Baptists were treated by the Anglicans and Puritans (non-conformists within the Church of England) here in America. This is what led to the separation of church and state here in America.

That being said you can still find good stuff from Anglicans also. They were Anglicans who translated the KJV. There's George Whitefield.

The bible says that every man will receive praise from the Lord at the judgement seat of Christ (I Cor. 4:5). If our Lord Jesus Christ himself can find some good then I'm sure we can also. We need to show more grace and balance in these matters.

What exactly are the false applications and views, John? What does he actually say verbatim? Other than his comment about Catholics and Orthodox?

Any man who stands against trials and tribulation even if he is off on his doctrine can be used to build up the faith of a believer. It has for me. I don't understand how you can't see this. Even Jesus would give him credit here. You seem to be only focused on the man's alleged false teachings yet when it comes to his suffering for the kingdom you glance over it as historical information about communism. That's pretty harsh in my estimate. Again, at the end of the journey what determines our place within the kingdom of God as co-heirs is our suffering with Christ. Not how straight we were in our doctrine. Some of the churches that John wrote to were screwed up in doctrine and allowed wickedness within their churches yet the Lord still found a place to give them praise. You need to be a little more balance in this matter. Heck, even I find a place to give credit to John Calvin who heresies have done far worse damage than Richard Wurmbrand. Plus, Richard never had anyone burnt at the stake.

Make sure you know the laws of your state and county. Join one of these homeschooling groups too if you can. There is strength in numbers and when the state comes after you for something usually it helps when you are part of one of the associations.

My brother and his wife homeschooled both their kids. They are now both cops in Roanoke, VA. The younger one did attend college and got his associates degree. It's a rough road to travel sometimes. Expect some people to give you a lot of grief about it at first. Especially any unsaved family members. Try to find some good tutors to help you with the studies that may be beyond your understanding. My brother and his wife did this by hiring a girl who lived across the street that was really good in math. They even got her to go to church with them and I think she eventually got saved.

Wilchbla reacted to Salyan in Who Is Your Favorite Pastor Among John Piper, John Macarthur, Max Lucado, Joshua Harris, Aiden Tozer, And Charles Spurgeon. Why?
The problem with Calvinism is that the idea of limited atonement spreads through the rest of the doctrines. For example, Calvinism would say that because atonement is limited (i.e.:God only died for the elect), therefore His grace, when extended is irresistible. It would claim Perseverance of the Saints (which is not the same as Eternal Security) because since man couldn't pick to get saved, he certainly can't pick to get unsaved! "A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump." Because of this overlapping of doctrine, I really don't think people can be 'partial' Calvinists. You either are or you ain't.

You're right, the doctrine of limited atonement is false. And such a blasphemy to our Lord who died for the sins of the world! (John 3:16) Take a look at the second half of that verse. What does it say? "that whosoever believeth in Him..." Whosover! Not some predetermined elect! Rev. 22:17 says "whosoever will, let him take of the water of life freely.'" There's that whosoever again! But what comes after it? Whosoever will. That Will there refers to the choice man has to accept or reject Christ. Luke 13 speaks of Christ mourning over Jerusalem, saying that He would gladly have gathered her children together to Him, but they would not! That will to accept or reject is free will. Jeremiah 10:23-24 is referring to the fact that man does not have the wisdom to choose and direct his own way - and choose it right! He needs the Lord's leading and guidance. It is not referring to salvation.

Because man has a free will, therefore Calvinism falls apart. Man is depraved, yes, but he is not so Totally Depraved (as Calvinism would teach) that he cannot even choose Christ when God calls him. Unconditional Election is the idea that, based on Christ supposedly only dying for the sins of the elect, God has pre-picked the elect. There is no unconditional grace in Calvinism! UE is again Biblically false - if God picked some for hell, then why does He say that He "is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance"? (2 Pet. 3:9) It would be very double-minded of God for Him to say that He doesn't want any to perish, but then to personally choose - to create! - men for that very purpose! Frankly, a god that created men only to destroy them would be a horrible god. Our God is not such. Ezekiel 33:11 tells us that He has no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but desires them to turn from their wicked ways and live. He is calling them to turn! Where is this Unconditional Election here? Limited atonement, as you've already pointed out, is a direct contradiction of Christ's once-for-all atonement. Irresistible Grace cannot exist while man resists God. Ezekiel 33:11/2 Peter 3:9 again - we see here clearly that God clearly wants all to come to salvation - well, if man could not resist God's grace, why aren't they all saved? And the final point, Perseverance of the Saints, we see to be a corruption based on the other false TULIP doctrines. Once saved, always saved, yes - but not once saved because God picked us to go to heaven and we had no say in it and therefore always saved because we can't have a say against it.

Calvinism is an insidious doctrine that oh-so-subtly twists the pure Word of God. We have a nearby church that is being infiltrated by it, and it does seem from our observation of the church and various friends within it that no one ever learns Calvinism from the Bible! It has to be taught by hearing men and reading man's books. That's why it's so dangerous to listen to men like Paul Washer or John Piper - you might plan on chewing the meat and spitting out the bones, but are you sure you can always tell what the bones are? The Bible tells us to "mark them which cause divisions contrary to the faith (i.e. false doctrine) and avoid them". We are to separate ourselves from learning or reading their false doctrine lest it rub off on us!

BTW, one does not have to be either Calvinist or Armenian. Both are unbiblical. My pastor likes to say he's a Biblicist! ;)

Yes, the same goes Abraham, Peter, Paul, David, Solomon, etc. etc. Many IFBers would have nothing to do with them. Yet, somehow John Calvin is still worshiped even after condemning people to death, setting up a church state and birthing some of the most heretical doctrines. But like someone has pointed out, a broken marriage is the only unforgivable sin among IFBers.

I have several of these Ref Bibles on your list. I have always enjoyed Dakes, and yes I know that he also taught that Jesus "became the Christ" at his baptism. But his lists are of interest, and they are many. Scofields is Scofield. I have Bullingers Companion, always have really been challenged by many of his appendices. Dr. Ruckmans Ref Bible is a fantastic resource throughout. To me, the absolute most informative cross refs and notes I have ever found. I understand many here may not appreciate that, but I am not looking for a pastor in Dr Ruckman, so I believe is greatly gifted and qualified to teach the Bible. Never have cared much for Thompson. I guess a divorced bible teacher appeals to me more than a A-mill bible :-) . Someone sent me a Ray Comfort Bible a few years ago in a Word doc. Didn't care for that one too much.
I also have a Spanish Bible (since I pastor in Mexico) that was put out by Arturo Muñoz and the Fundamentalista. It has several articles on basics from many well known Pastors in the IFB camp here in Mexico. Men like Elmer Fernandez, Alejandro Cordoba, Azael Cocon de Jesús and others.

    God bless,

I know for a fact that the politicians have been warmed by experts on understanding the Muslim and the Arab peoples that this isn't the case. Votes are more important then the safety of our country.

Can someone show me a verse where it says we were "saved" before the foundation of the world? I don't see it. I see where we we "chosen in him" but that is not the same as being "saved in him". Read the passage carefully. It says nothing about us being saved in eternity past. If that we the case then, in essence, we were saved at one time but then lost our salvation then were saved again.

The passage says we were "chosen in him" to be "holy and without blame before him in love". i.e God determined before hand that all those who accept the Son will have a holy and blameless position before the Father. You don't get "in him" until you receive Jesus Christ as your Lord in Savior.

Inspired. Preserved. When speaking of the KJV the terms seem interchangeable to me. If the KJV is the preserved scripture without error then it also has to be the inspired scripture since ALL scripture was given by inspiration of God. If it's not inspired then you better stop calling it the scripture.

It seems the OP is letting her fear of one man's reputation decide what to believe about the KJV. This is not smart. This would be like letting our opinion about the deity of Christ be effected by the Pope. The Pope believes Jesus is the Son of God does that mean we shouldn't?

    Seriously.

Regarding the Komen association...I did hear about the abortion thing but on the other hand, I know a very great Christian lady who was diagnosed with breast cancer at the same time she found out she was pregnant...kept the baby...lived about 3 years before passing away. But the Komen foundation helped her family ALOT. They even used some of her photographs with her pretty bald head and holding her baby.

Who knows, someday I might have cancer and my family might need help from the Komen foundation.

    May 2012 News Letter

    Dear Family and Friends,

The greatest news this month other than souls saved is that Kim is doing great with her hip replacement. She has had some complications with other parts of her body but her new hip is doing wonderful. Thank you for all your prayers and cards that you have sent. As I write this letter it’s been 11 days since the surgery and she is walking with a cane. She threw the walker under the bus and that was 3 days ago. What a God! Praise His name!

Now on to souls saved. We had a great month in the jails and prisons. We had a total of 39 Services with 1099 in Attendance and 139 saved. That is just in our area of the Thumb and Mid Michigan area. Praise the Lord for all our volunteers who make it all possible. Thank you.

We had a great Volunteer Banquet at Fenton Rd Baptist Church. Pastor Stallard and his folks did a bang up job. The meal was stupendous. Chaplain Ed Holsworth was our Chaplain of the year, Pastor Pete Wardlow and Twin Cities Baptist Church was our Church of the Year and Bro. Darrell Taber was our Volunteer of the year. If you would like to get involved with us in going to jail or prison, just let me know. We have over 110 volunteers right now but we have open opportunities for more helpers. You don’t have to be a preacher but you do have to be a soul winner.
Last Sunday I had the privilege to preach in the Thumb Correction Facility. We had 3 services with a total of 226 men out for services and 26 trusting Jesus Christ as Saviour. Glory!!! Then this Saturday we had 2 services at the Saginaw Correction Facility and 106 men out and 10 men saved. God is so good! If you have an email address and are not getting our news letter via email, please send me your email address and you can get this News Letter that way and it saved 45 cents. My email address is; gloryrag@hotmail.com Thanks again for all you do for the Lord and us.

No doubt in my mind neither. Wilchbla, your right on. If he could find a way, he would shut up the Court, thinking he had done every American a big favor. Wilchbla reacted to irishman in The Fruit of Hylesism
    John81,
Have you ever read any of Hyles' books on soul winning? He clearly defines them as sinners. The worst thing I believe he did was push a little too hard, but that may be because he realized the awfulness of hell.

#2. We are not to judge others concerning salvation, but to look at their "fruits". We cannot say what is in their heart.

If someone is truly born again, there will be a change in their life (become a "new creature), but we do not know how great that change is, or if it has taken place in some areas. I know I did not immediately change in every way when I was saved, so does that mean that someone did not present the Gospel to me in the "right" way?

When someone gets saved, they realize a new awarness of sin in their life. This may not be too obvious to us, but they could be under conviction in the matter.

They also seem to want to know more about their Lord, but again, who can judge them in this? Can we follow them night and day and see if they read their Bibles or pray, or meditate on the Word of God? I believe us "old timers" need to be a little less critical, and realize that we too had moments when others may have thought that we were not truly saved.

The fourth thing, and this sort of goes with our subject, is that they have a desire to tell others, or someone, what had happened to them. Of course, we teach that Baptism is the "public profession" of their faith, but just because they are not Baptized, does that mean they are not saved? Of course not.

People need to ay off Hyles until they become familiar with him; there are always going to abusers of his teaching, and there were some even among his staff, but considering the size of his church, he did a fairly good job of overseeing them, and rebuking and teaching them.

The soul winners became quite competitive at times, and many even turned in false reports, I know this for a fact, they didn't even go, but they tried to win a contest or something. Those may the people that mis-represent the Gospel, but to crucify Dr. Hyles is not right. I use that strong language because I have seen these types of posts here before, and they get pretty rough themselves. To call a man a heretic that has led as many people to the Lord as he has is foolishness and exposes the speaker as a jealous fool. He has led enough to the Lord that even if they were "accidently saved" they would outnumber most of the critics against him in souls won!

With that, I give you back your post.

Hello. I am not trying to overstep my authority in the Lord's house, but I have an opinion. We women stand up and give testimonies of our salvation and the goodness of God. If I was asked to pray during the service I would not. I would look to my husband.
My understanding of the verse is that women were not to speak in other tongues. The gift of tongues was for the Jews. I do not believe the author meant that women ought not to speak at all during the service. However, it does state that the woman should ask her husband at home anything she doesn't understand.
I don't believe women are to create a disturbance. I don't believe men should either, but some men take this scripture and run with it. Not showing the love of God and the respect the Lord has for women.
No offense to the men who do treat women respectfully.
The Bible mentions a man and his own house. I believe some things are a little different if the woman is a widow or single.
I believe a woman should be able to shout an amen (as long as she is not too loud) or to sing in the service. I think all of ya'll allow women to sing. That would be in direct disobedience of your verse you are quoting.
