  1. I heard somewhere once that leprosy was a term that was applied to a whole bunch of different diseases.

    This is from etymonline.com.

    leprosy
1530s; see leper. First used in Coverdale Bible, where it renders Hebrew cara'ath, which apparently was a comprehensive term for skin diseases. Because of pejorative associations, the use of the word in medical context has been banned by the World Health Organization and replaced by Hansen's disease, named for Norwegian physician Armauer Hansen (1841-1912) who in 1871 discovered the bacillus that causes it.

So whatever this disease was it wasn't the leprosy we know of today. Apparently it was some kind of fungal infection. It may have gone the way of many other diseases throughout history like the Black Plague disease which scientists are not sure if it really was the bubonic plague.

  2. A lot of the problem is concerned with "privilege." I presume you are all white, so you are concerned about maintained the white privileges. The longer you keep "them" under, the more bitter the struggle. My exams 54 yours ago required an essay on "Racial segregation in South Africa & USA." I don't remember what I wrote, but I was against it. When will the Red Indians get integration?

The other side of "integration by force" is "segregation by force."

No, I can't speak for the situation over there - I live in Southall where white English is a small minority. Our Pastor is Pakistani, married to a converted Sikh. If a person looks English, she's probably Polish ....

My children went to state schools, with a majority of Indian pupils. Three got degrees & they all secured good jobs. I play tennis with Punjabi Sikh, Sri Lankan Hindu, Sudanese Muslim, French Catholic, etc, etc.

Why is segregation still an issue?

My mother was Doris Day, & one of her (namesake's) greatest hits includes the line: "the beautiful Indian country that I love." (Black Hills of Dakota - "Calamity Jane.")

Try living in Louisiana, South Carolina or any of the inner cities here in America and you'll change your tune but quick. Trust me.

  3. You know, I once worked with a Muslim (cultural, maybe?) who commonly took God's name in vain and said 'holy cow.' I used to get on his case for swearing God's name; didn't like the second either but was picking my battles, you know? Right before I left that job, he asked me why I hadn't objected to the 'holy cow.' Evidently, he thought that I should have taken offense to both - since in my view, cows weren't holy. He was quite right. Interesting what other religionists think about Christians...

Only is you were a Hindu should you get offended at "holy cow".
  4. Isaiah 30:27-33

[27] Behold, the name of the LORD cometh from far, burning with his anger, and the burden thereof is heavy: his lips are full of indignation, and his tongue as a devouring fire:
[28] And his breath, as an overflowing stream, shall reach to the midst of the neck, to sift the nations with the sieve of vanity: and there shall be a bridle in the jaws of the people, causing them to err.
[29] Ye shall have a song, as in the night when a holy solemnity is kept; and gladness of heart, as when one goeth with a pipe to come into the mountain of the LORD, to the mighty One of Israel.
[30] And the LORD shall cause his glorious voice to be heard, and shall shew the lighting down of his arm, with the indignation of his anger, and with the flame of a devouring fire, with scattering, and tempest, and hailstones.
[31] For through the voice of the LORD shall the Assyrian be beaten down, which smote with a rod.
[32] And in every place where the grounded staff shall pass, which the LORD shall lay upon him, it shall be with tabrets and harps: and in battles of shaking will he fight with it.
[33] For Tophet is ordained of old; yea, for the king it is prepared; he hath made it deep and large: the pile thereof is fire and much wood; the breath of the LORD, like a stream of brimstone, doth kindle it.

Sounds like the Antichrist to me.

  5. Would this be acceptable: "Wow guys, this is really boring! I don't think anyone has gained a theological inch in the 238 posts that have been slapped up here, this thread is as dead as last year's Christmas tree!" :)

Calvinists are usually as dry as the Atacama Desert.

  6. It is the old belief of the people who beleive in a superior white race. They believe that the black races are the children of Cain. Idiots.

    God bless,
    Larry

I think you are confusing "Cain" with the "Canaanite".

  7. Want to buy my hub a surprise smartphone for Christmas.... was leaning towards an iPhone 4s but guy at Verizon trying to talk me into Android, says the 4G speeds are better. Seems like iPhone is slightly more user friendly but Android (I am specifically looking at Samsung) has faster speeds and more modern, with Google os....

    What do you think?

Well, unless you live in a large metropolitan area 4G won't do you any good. There is no 4G coverage outside the large cities of America. It's just a selling ploy.

I own a Droid but personally I would go with an iPhone if I was you. It has better apps and more space on the internal hard drive.

  8. Yuck. Hyper-dispensationalist, KJV Cultist, One of Ruckman's stooges. Avoid, I'd say. met him once; was not impressed with his attitude.

lol Sam Gipp is not a Hyper-dispensationalist. I don't think you know what one is if you think that. And to call him a "cultist" and a "stooge" is pretty irresponsible for a Christian if you ask me.

  9. This is what we are sending our young men to die for? This is why we must, according to our leaders, bring democracy to the world? May God protect us from our wise men.

    Larry

I've been stated this on all the forums that I visit on the internet. The spread of "democracy" in the Middle East is really the spread of theocracy. Democracy is the rule of the people by the people and for the people and what those people want over there is a theocracy. And America, at the cost of billions of dollars a day, is helping them establish this caliphate under Sharia law that will end up twice the size of the United States. The worse thing for us to be doing is toppling dictators in the Middle East because as ruthless and crazy as those dictators are they are keeping in check an even more ruthless and crazy group of people.

Also, as much as everyone likes to rail on the Taliban what they forget is that the Taliban had destroyed the opium drug trade in Afghanistan whichsupplied the world with 85% of it's. Now that the drugs lords are back in power and with America refusing to destroy the poppy fields (supposedly this would destabilized their econmony) Afghanistan is back in business and business is good.

  10. The answer to America's problems is not political. It is a matter of the heart. While we must be vigilant in the political arena, more importantly we must win souls for Christ. A genuine Christian, schooled in the doctrines of the Scriptures would never entertain the schemes of the heathen left nor elect them or hire them to serve the public. However, so many institutions are morally bankrupt being staffed with immoral and Godless people that genuine reforms are nearly impossible. Only by abolishing those institutions and starting over can this nation's government begin to honor the Lord again. Matthew 6:33 comes to mind when it comes to politics.

I concur. I'm really surprised at how many Christians think that if America can just get things right economically then everything else will fall into place. This country is WAYYYYY past getting things right economically. There will be no was possible to get this fix with the economy and debt. As Peter said it's time to "save yourself from this untoward generation". The Romans (in our case maybe China or the Middle East) are coming to burn her down. We've had our fun now it's time to pay the piper like the Babylonians did when the Medes and Persians showed up.
  11. I have to admit. Did Jesus himself even forsee how bad things would get on earth?I'm talking about when he was on earth. It seems to be that not everything was revealed to him (ex. when he would return). In Matthew 24:37 was he including gay marriage when he was talking about marriage in that verse? I doubt it. Now they are working on somehow mixing the eggs of two women so they can bypass the male altogether so lesbians and feminists (which basically has infected just about every last woman in America and Europe including Christian women) can have children. Of course, when this is done only female babies will result from the procedure. Western civilization is definitely trying to turn everything upside down and get rid of the traditional family, get rid of the father and husband, put the kids in charge and even try to get rid of the male altogether. Science is now teaching that the male is a mutation that will die off eventually. If you think of all this weirdness going on now a lot of it stems directly from the teaching of evolution.

I expect that eventually the POTUS will be a black lesbian woman who is a Muslim that speaks Spanish who is considering having a transgender operation. And if you disagree or object to this on any grounds you will be ostracized as a hatemongering, bigoted, homophobic, mysonginistic, racist, uneducated, evil individual who is more wicked than Hitler himself and should have his family taken away from him. And maybe Christians will agree with this.

  12. Wow, I didn't realize there were any fundamentalist Christians anywhere in France. I wonder if they really are fundamentalist. Remember, the gunmen in Sweden that killed all those kids was called a fundamentalist. I remember hearing a missionary claim that there was only around 5,000 fundamentalist Christians in all of Italy. France probably isn't much better.

  13. I guess it really doesn't matter much anymore. Great Britain is pretty much finished and has been since World War II. Really the nations downfall probably began around World War I. With them helping to restore the Jews to Palestine pretty much was a sign of the decline of all Gentile nations worldwide. Hopefully the Lord's return is soon cuz I can't take much more of this place.

  14. There are many well-known writers who I wouldn't read because I know what they teach - and I don't want to have to wade through and pick and choose what is right from what is wrong. That said, we do have books that were written by people with whom we don't agree 100%, but they have a lot of biblical teaching. In those cases, we eat the meat and spit out the bones.

We are to be careful what we read - what is allowed into our eyes quickly goes to our minds and makes its way to our hearts, thus influencing us. If something promotes the philosophies and traditions of the world, we are not to countenance it. Unfortunately, there are those who are popular who insert much of that philosophy into what they write, thus becoming a danger to new Christian and old alike.

That is not to say throw the baby out with the bathwater, but it is to say that our guide must be scripture, and we must be thoroughly familiar with the truths of scripture if we are going to combat error.

    Ah, a voice of reason.

  15. What has been proclaimed reminds me a lot of those churches in our community that goes around trying to get other churches to set aside their differences, & come & worship with them.

And when they come together, the majority teaches works base & baptizing salvation. So if all the people they come together with believes they're saved by works & or baptizing, them the majority of the people that have come together are lost in their sins.

And by joining together with them, to me puts their stamp of approval on their teachings, & also encourages them to stay in that teaching.

Who said anything about joining churches that teach salvation by works? You talk about going off the deep end. The discussion was about not throwing out books by certain authors that may have a few irrelavent beliefs we disagree with like the gap theory or double inspiration. How this got to teaming up with the WCCC is beyond me.
