David, Thank you for posting about Pastor Dartt's passing. I had not heard until I read this. He was a great man and he will always have a special place in my heart. He was a man of courage and encountered many challenges. He always faced those challenges with strength, a firm backbone and yet showed love and mercy as God directed him. You are right, many a life was changed by Pastor Dartt and I know he will be greatly missed.

All the best to you, Patty and the entire family.

No, I do not "rule over" my wife.  She loves the Lord and I comport myself in such a way, that we respect each other's God given roles.

As far as my wife being equal, it is my understanding from the Scriptures that I as a husband should honor her above myself and sacrifice myself to protect her.   This used to be practiced in our country (many years back, but I still remember it) in such ways as opening the door, standing when a woman entered the room and getting the chair for them.

Very, very sad. Everywhere one looks sin and the world are eating away at the body of Christ. Must keep our eyes on the Lord Jesus Christ alone!

I don't understand why people look for secret codes to expose when the Lord God of the universe has already revealed everything he feels that is important for us to know in his Word. It just baffles me, why people would think that an infinite and all knowing God (who understands we are limited, failed and finite people) would for some dastardly reason give us the Bible to in some way be frustrated and have to figure out secret codes. I prefer to believe that God is smart enough to know we need his truth in an understandable way, and that he has given us that truth in his Holy Word.

Chasing secret codes and "far out meanings" from the Bible just seems to be a colossal waste of time and energy when we just need to study his Word, believe it and put it into action. Putting it into action is the big kicker, and generally why people are looking for a different and secret meaning. We just don't want to do some of those things that are hard, thus looking for a different meaning so we can still feel we are following God's revealed Word, when in fact its right there in front of us to know, believe and do.

trc123 reacted to JerryNumbers in Calif. City Plans To Provide Transgender Surgeries
San Francisco has long been capital city of the sodomites, & no one seems to have caught up with them. I still remember what they called that city back in the 70's & 80's when I was out there about ever week during my truck driving days.

    This is sicking.
"San Francisco in 2001 became the first city in the country to cover sex reassignment surgeries for government employees. Last year, Portland, Ore. did the same. The number of major U.S. companies covering the cost of gender reassignment surgery for transgender workers also doubled last year, reflecting a decades-long push by transgender activists to get insurance companies to treat such surgeries as medically necessary instead of elective procedures."

It is sad to think, and more sad to say, but I believe the nation is now at a point that a real conservative would not have done better. Let's face it folks, the nation as a whole has turned a corner and it is even more bent on its godless ways (as a whole) than many had thought. Trust in God and be prepared for persecution. Many of our Baptist forefathers suffered tremendous physical, emotional and spiritual warefare and persecution. Jesus warned of it. We in the USA have been blessed by God to (on the whole) avoid most persecution, while our brothers and sisters in other countries have suffered unspeakable persecution. As this nation has turned its back on God (as a whole), we will see God's hand of blessing now being removed. We are a stiffnecked and stubborn nation of selfwilled and sinfilled people (as a whole). Therefore, as a whole, the worst is coming. Even so, come Lord Jesus.

This is true, and it would seem God has already removed His hand of blessing and is turning America over to her own sins, which is the greatest of punishments.

I understand what you are saying, and agree to a large extent. However, I do not see a particular hairstyle as either Biblical or unbiblical. Hair is something that can grow out, or be cut. It is not permanent. Hairstyles go in and out of style and change over time. What is in style for a child today will not be in style 5 years from now. What I work on with my children is not their outward appearance, but their heart. I work with them to love God with all of their heart, soul and mind and to love their neighbor as their self. I teach them to have love, joy, peace patience, etc.

Harping on what type of hairstyle one can and cannot have seems to me to be making rules that are simply not there. It seems to me that it adds to Scripture that which is not there, as I read it.

I fear our nation is beyond repair and is coming under God's judgement. There is simply no way to reconcile the fact that our nation now embraces this kind of perversion, claiming it as an act of acceptance and tolerance, with God's holy word declaring it as sin and abomination.

You have to really listen to these ex-lawyer political parsers who give this information. There may have been a "budget" surplus for a particular year; but there was a national debt. This is the same kind of word smithing that allowed Clinton to say, "I want you to listen to me, I did not have sexual relations with that woman" and be legally correct; yet make it sound like he did nothing sexual in nature. By the "legal definition" of "sexual relations" he may have been telling the truth; while in fact lying to the American people who thought he was saying something all together different.

Since the Scriptures don't give a specific number you are not going to get anyone here to give you a number. They will only give a very vague answer that you can't disprove (or prove for that matter). An answer like: "you'll know it when you see it" or "long is to the collar," etc.

I suspect that if God wanted us to know the specific number, he would have given us instructions like "A woman's hair should be long and a man's hair short. Short hair is anything under a cubit and long hair is over a cubit."

As the specific number isn't given by God, it is up to each person's conviction from the Holy Spirit. Or, you could belong to a Church with a very domineering Pastor who will tell you how to wear your hair. That way is easier in the end. You don't have to pray and seek the Holy Spirit's conviction, you can just settle for the "man of God" to be your decider. I wonder how a Christian answer's to Jesus in that day. "Honest Lord, I followed Pastor Leader and he told me to wear it this way."

Perhaps this wasn't really a big deal to the Lord and thus he didn't give a precise standard? Perhaps it is based upon the accepted cultural norm at any given time? Perhaps this was just guidance from Paul given the local customs (similar to one or two other areas where Paul indicated it was not a command from the Lord)?

Wasn't the context in which Paul wrote this to the church in Corinth that in which there was the temple to Aphrodite in which there was service by female prostitutes who's sign to others was their shaven heads?

Seemed to me that Paul was telling the Christian woman of Corinth to have hair as a covering to distinguish themselves from Aphrodite's followers.

Given that context, and the portion of Scriptures in Corinthians dealing with this, I would think that hair is the covering and not a veil, lace, scarf or other cloth hat.
