I guess the only things we can do is to pray for true Biblical discernment.

WHY THE SWORD OF THE LORD CROWD WILL BE EMERGING

    WITHIN A GENERATION

    JUNE 18, 2012

(David Cloud, Fundamental Baptist Information Service, P.O. Box 610368, Port Huron, MI 48061, 866-295-4143, fbns@wayoflife.org)

The National Sword of the Lord conference is scheduled for July 23-27 at Gospel Light Baptist Church, Walkertown, North Carolina. The speakers are Marc Dalton, Joe Arthur, Frank Gagliano, Jeff Fugate, John Hamblin, Tim Rabon, Lou Rossi, Kevin Folger, Mark Campbell, Raymond Barber, Norris Belcher, Mike Norris, Bobby Roberson, Paul Chappell, R.B.Ouellette, and Mike Allison. The Sword director is Shelton Smith.

In the book Why Most Independent Baptist Churches Will Be Emerging, we give the following eight reasons why we are convinced that most IFBaptist churches will be well down the contemporary path within a generation:

The maligning of warning and reproof
    Unquestioning loyalty to man
    Following the crowd
    Ignorance about important Issues
    Soft separatism
    Lack of serious discipleship
    Carelessness about music
    Quick Prayerism

These points apply to the churches that are most deeply influenced by and that most deeply resonate with the Sword of the Lord.

The bottom line is that these churches, for the most part, are simply not prepared to face the level of spiritual warfare that is raging against every Bible-believing church today.

The Sword has never renounced the cult of Jack Hyles. It has never warned of Lee Roberson’s soft and ineffectual separatism which resulted in the dramatic downfall of Highland Park Baptist Church. It has never lifted a voice against Paul Chappell’s dangerous, unscriptural adaptation of contemporary worship music. In fact, in the most idolatrous manner, the Sword does not allow any warnings to be issued in regard to its heroes. Any such warnings are mischaracterized and the warners maligned. There is not a more effective “good old boys” network anywhere. As for the heresy of Quick Prayerism, the Sword has been at the forefront of promoting the men who created it and exalting those who practice it.

WHY MOST INDEPENDENT BAPTIST CHURCHES WILL BE EMERGING is available as a free 65-page eBook from the Way of Life web site -- http://www.wayoflife.org/free_ebooks/

THE TWO JACKS: JACK HYLES AND JACK SCHAAP is also available as a free eBook. Few men have had a greater influence on the Sword than Jack Hyles.

I believe Mr Giovanelli landed in Jacksonville Florida (Pastor Greg Neal) at Immanuel Baptist, and was positioned to lead their new Bible College that I believe was to open in 2020.  If this is all true, it truly saddens me, as between this and the guy at the church in Hammond give IFB a bad name.

swathdriver - I did not intend to argue about this with you, but this is unfortunately the mentality that has gotten our IFB churches to where they are today. The Holy Spirit would never lead any Christian to a church where there is no preaching,. The vast majority of Christians are not being led by the Holy Spirit, they are being led by their emotions and entertainment value. They go to a church and leave happy so that must mean the Holy Spirit is leading them there. Christians should go to church to be edified, reproved and rebuked by the Word of God. If the Word of God is not preached, all you did was get entertained.
My gifts and influence will not change the ways of a "yeller or story teller". I will not refer to them as preachers as they do not "Preach".
People need to hold the Pastor to a Biblical level and mandate that he "Preaches". It's a sad state of America that we are missing this in our churches.

1John2:15-17 got a reaction from dmedicinus in Conservatism versus hyper-conservatism?
If one looks worldly (inappropriate jewelry, immodest clothing, etc), walks worldly (doing worldly things), and talks worldly, then one must be worldly (and not walking right with God). A child walking/striving to walk with The Lord should not be anything like this. We are called to be separate. We should look different, act different (when compared to the world).

Call me conservative, call me narrow-minded....I'm as narrow minded as God's word.

Here's my .02 cents.  A non-denomination church doesn't put much emphasis on doctrine so as not to offend anyone lest they lose them.
A strong IFB church will accept into membership all who are scripturally saved and baptized and not allow the dross from that person's old denomination to further separate them from the Lord or influence others in the local church.

Put another way, when I came to my IFB church, I came to learn their ways (bible ways), not introduce the errors I'd been taught at Catholic and rock-n-roll churches.

I just preached on the subject of Hell on Aug. 25th.  I try to preach one full sermon on Hell every year.  Of course, I also reference it throughout my regular preaching and teaching.  It is a reality that all of us need to be conscious of.

Yes, praise God for those churches that still do preach the Gospel! Unfortunately, many of our churches have watered that down or don't even do much to spread the Gospel at all. Too many have adopted what LuAnne posted about, that "soul winning" format of trying to convince someone to say a little prayer so they can go to heaven. Just as Cloud pointed out, such isn't rightly presenting the Gospel and leads to false conversions and false hope.

Someone once asked our pastor why he talks about sin, repentance, hell and salvation through Christ alone instead of simply telling folks if they want to go to heaven they can just say a short "sinners prayer". Our pastor answered, "Because that's the Gospel message, the core of Scripture, and not something to be skimped on or watered down."

Unfortunately the idea that when it comes to matters of hair style, dress and things of such nature, that these are "personal choices" and God doesn't care about such things is even creeping into some IFB churches. Hair styles are becoming more worldly, dress styles are becoming less modest, and these things apply to how some folks attend church and also go about their daily things.

I've literally been surprised and shocked on a few occasions, and had to turn away and go elsewhere, after seeing a Christian woman in a store that I've only ever seen before in their church clothes, being dressed very immodestly in the store.

A youth pastor in the area has a goatee he sometimes colors purple or blue and he has his hair cut short but sometimes uses styling gel or something to make it kind of spike up down the middle. He says he wants to relate to the youth and show them that one can be a Christian and be cool at the same time.

The Bible provides us with standards of conduct and appearance but many don't want to give up their own preferences for the sake of Christ.

I've always dislike the gaudy look, whether its  on a person, a lawn, or in a house. One of something can look nice, but yet many of them gets tasteless. Seems there's many that can't keep it simple.

I like everything plain, no show off stuff, & I did not use to be that way. I loved spinners hubcaps on cars back in the late 50 & early 60's, along with a few other things. But I out grew it.

And to me this tells women not to dress gaudy.

    1Ti 2:9 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;

And if women are not to, them men should not either.

Yet most of those who call their self Christian instead of being a living sacrifice & not conforming to the world they conform to the world looking very gaudy so people will take notice of them. Wow, those people with 4, 6, 8, or 10 holes in their ears is both gaudy & ridiculous. And those who go even further putting holes into heir nose, eye lids, tongue, & ect have surely crossed the line into be ridiculous & stupid looking.

Ro 12:1 ¶ I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. Ro 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

1John2:15-17 reacted to Standing Firm In Christ in Looks As If Mr. Obama Has Won The Race
I put this on my Facebook page.
America is in the shape it is in because the people of America would rather have man rule their lives than God.

In ancient Israel, the people cried out to Samuel to give them a king to rule over them. God said that in choosing a king, the Israelites had rejected Him.

America does not need a POTUS... it needs God. Over the last several decades, our country has gotten further and further in debt, immorality and crime has escalated. And in the last four years, Obama has taken our country even further downhill. And yet the majority of people seem to not care. They want to see more destruction, deceit, and denigration of standards worked through the hands and mind of Barack Hussein Obama.

Be assured... they got their king and they will regret it.

True....I've heard it said that although the false teachers may be 95% right/accurate, it's the 5% that they get wrong that you have to watch out for.
