While the harp at first glance would seem to be a soothing instrument; there are more subtle and sinister forces at work with the instrument. It has its roots in early Egypt and was used in the worship of false gods. Even though, down through the ages it was sometimes used in "sacred worship" it was also used to for other worldly and Satanic purposes.
Therefore, I think it best to stay away from this instrument in our current music and avoid every appearance of evil.
Amen.

Anywho, I got a type of harp called a Kinnor Link to image: (http://www.magictails.com/abydos/images ... kinnor.jpg) It is based of coins in Jesus time and testified to have been played in the temple in Jesus time by ancient writings. It is rather complicated to learn but makes a beautiful sound. Example of sound: (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ewwJGIy_ ... annel_page) -
Hey, I am planning on doing a Bible study with a good friend on the doctrines of the Bible. We are going to go through many doctrines, including unbiblical ones, and hopefully come out closer to God and better informed. I was wondering if anyone can point me to sites, books, and free resources that could help. Thank in advance!

Hmmmm... Could this present a problem to the idea that man is getting smarter and stronger?

I'd like to thank the Lord for the men and women on this site that pray so faithfully when called upon. It is a real encouragement. :thumb

Acts 5:
25 Then came one and told them, saying, Behold, the men whom ye put in prison are standing in the temple, and teaching the people.
26 Then went the captain with the officers, and brought them without violence: for they feared the people, lest they should have been stoned.
27 And when they had brought them, they set them before the council: and the high priest asked them,
28 Saying, Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man's blood upon us.
29 Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.
30 The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree.
31 Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.
May I ask, does this apply to everything? I've heard from some that we should obey our parents over God in some occasions. (I.E. don't read your Bible if they tell you not too) Or for wives, don't go to church if you're told not to by your husband. I've even heard people say to obey government if they tell you to disobey God, etc. What are we to obey? God's Commandments or man's commandments? Is it rebellious and ungodly to disobey your parents in order to obey a command of God? Is it wrong for you to die at the hands of government like the martyrs of old because you would not simply disobey God? Which authority is highest? -
I can vouch for this site. Excellent resources for refuting Evolution.

I find the "KJV is too archaic" argument so hilarious.. Some of the people who make this argument are the ones who would read through a Shakespearian drama and never complain about it's outdated English but insist instead that it can't be updated or it will lose it's poetic beauty!

Dude.
That was awesome. -
Just to point out, Job 38 makes the 5th O.T. reference to "sons of God".
In the N.T. believers, Adam and Jesus are all referred to as sons, son or Son of God.
:ooops Sorry, left those out. I put together the OP rather quickly with the verses of debate in mind. -

I'd like church every day like in the 1st century... But that wont happen. Anyway, I don't believe not attending because you cant is a sin. Some people have forgot what the word "forsake" means though.
"Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching." Hebrews 10:25
For full context:
Hebrews 10:
21 And having an high priest over the house of God;
22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.
23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)
24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:
25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
Forsake in the Greek essentially means " to desert:" and the English definition from Webster's 1828 is:
"1. To quit or leave entirely; to desert; to abandon; to depart from. Friends and flatterers forsake us in adversity.
Forsake the foolish, and live. Prov. 9.
2. To abandon; to renounce; to reject.
If his children forsake my law, and walk not in my judgments - Ps. 89.
Cease from anger, and forsake wrath. Ps. 37.
3. To leave; to withdraw from; to fail. In anger, the color forsakes the cheeks. In severe trials, let not fortitude forsake you.
4. In scripture, God forsakes his people, when he withdraws his aid, or the light of his countenance." -
I have a feeling this has been brought up atleast once before, but I have a sincere question.
The Bible, in the Old Testament makes 4 references total (to my knowledge) to the "sons of God".
Genesis 6:2 That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.
Genesis 6:4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.
Job 1:6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them.
Job 2:1 Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them to present himself before the LORD.
And all references in the NT refer to the redeemed.
I am quite confused with this. It is conjectured that these are angels by many. It is also said that the people of Genesis where Seth's children, etc. I would like to discuss this, simply to get a few opinions and reach a conclusion. Thanks! -

Jesus had many arguments with sinners like the Pharisees and the Democrats.
LOL! -

We need to explain why this isn't a good idea. Too many people support this.
There is a point where worrying about everyone's "rights" has to stop and worrying about what God's Word says has to start. -
Wow. Those crazy conspiricy nuts don't look so crazy now do they?

I usually get discouraged or annoyed from visits to OB. I keep coming back hoping for some good fellowship though. And I learn quite a bit from debates. Really wish people would use the chat room more though. lol

I has occurred to me, that having the right premise, when you come to the Bible, is very important.
The right premise is, that God is perfect and is all knowing, and has earth?s history all planed out in advance and is perfectly Holy, and never makes mistakes. etc. etc.
Our attitude about the Bible, must reflect it?s author.
--------------------------------------------------
I have said all of this, because my conviction is, that THE BIBLE HAS NO MISTAKES, and this forces me down a particular path.
When I come to a verse or passage, that seems to be a contradiction or a mistake, I automatically know, that I am the one making the mistake, in my interpretation.
But those who start off on the wrong foot, who don?t have this presupposition about the Bible?s perfection, will be led astray.
When they come to an apparent contradiction or a mistake in the Bible, there instinct is to look into the original language etc, not to find ?there mistake?, but to find the ?Bible?s mistake?.
--------------------------------------------------
I joking say, that these people think that they are smarter than God. But this is no joke.
If during your educational process, you start to find mistakes in the Bible, and go about to correct ?it?, instead of yourself, than you need to go back, and start off on the other foot.
, , , , and a thousand times

Legalizing drugs, would it be bad or good?

I'm not too sure about this topic, but I believe it is somewhat like prohibition. Prohibition didn't work, neither does the war on drugs. I don't think legalizing drugs or fighting against them will work AT ALL. I do beleive the solution is much more simple than we think. Win souls. Christ is the one that can transform people and destroy vice and crime in a society.
