    and

    I really like the Scofield (perhaps because A)its an Oxford so the scripture maintains the correct spellings and capitalizations and b)'cause its still new :lol: :loco ). Before the Scofield though the Nelson got the most mileage.

    IMHO I like my Bearing Precious Seed bible the most. It has no commentary, no notes, no concordance and no frills (short of the French Moroccan leather cover).

    I have come to the conclusion that study bibles are usually overrated. I will admit that i'd like to own a New Defenders study bible and a Cambridge Bible. But, I maintain my position.

    Get one with no frills man.......... :lol

  2. Acceptance feels good. For me I gotta be careful that it doesn't stoke the fires of pride.

    I guess if we're gaining acceptance for Christs sake then fantastic. If not then shouldn't we bear reproach for Christ willingly? I think so too.

Sometimes I will make some tea in my two cup pot and only use one bag - that is like reusing it.     Amen sister.

    No other beverage I love better than strong coffee (black and no funky stuff). My tea has to be the same way. I don't think I could re use the bag. Wasteful? no doubt Tastier? amen.

    BTW good analogy! If we soak ourselves in Gods love letter to us then what....what...what can stop us???? Gotta read that letter cover to cover. Why would we go out into the storms of life without our jacket. Why would we go out in the battlefield without our Sword?

    I agree.

    Contrary to Kevin's opinion, I believe that a woman should look as in the A) picture and save herself (at home) for her husband. I wouldn't want someone eyeballing my wife because she was wearing a form fitting outfit.

    I also wouldn't to put a stumbling block before another man. But Jerry summed it up well.

    This is in fashion. How is it immodest?

    Anything you put on today is fashion. It is either old-fashioned, retro, or current. Current fashion does not make it sin.

    Now, you may say that the skirt is a "bit too short" but would that not be a preference? Should you not add "for my taste/conviction" there?

    There are 2 ways of wearing that dress. One is with a modest demeanor/bearing. The other is with a carelessness. Which one truly makes the dress immodest? It is the behaviour.

    There are current styles that are overtly immodest. There are others that are not.
    I think the zebra print jacket says enough. :lol:
  7. Seems about ever 6 months I have to replace the valve on our commodes. Seems our rural water eats them up.

    I'm thinking about digging our water line up and putting a filter on it, if it were not for the digging part I would have already did it. :roll

    Pick and shovel doesn't help my aches and pains.
    I feel your pain.
    When we moved into our house we had problems with the toilet not completely flushing.
    Turns out we had roots growing in our pipes in the yard. We had to dig all the way to the pipes and clear them out. Fun? Oh boy lemme tell ya what.

  8. No disrespect or crudeness intended but underwear is a "crotched" garment. I sincerely hope you don't forbid your wife from wearing..... Also, I'm kinda confused as to where the KJV's literal interpretation speaks against "crotched" garments. :huh:
    I side with a fellow poster who has state that he doesn't know when undergarments came into vogue. I can't speak for undergarments. I believe that the verse below is referring more so to the outward appearance. We don't wear our underwear on the outside do we? Wait Madonna DOH :duh nevermind........

    1 Timothy 2:9 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;


    I believe that according to the above stated verse that women should be dressed modestly, with shamefacedness and and soberly. Further I believe that women draw attention to their "sexual zones" when they wear pants culottes et cetera.

    Does the bible specifically speak against crotched garments? No. Again I refer to the passage found in Deuteronomy 22:5 The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God. If I understand correctly a man wore underneath his robe "breeches" or pants if you will. When the man "gird" up his loins he pulled his robe up and into his "breaches". Woman on the other hand had no "breaches" they wore a long loose fitting robe. Not only all that. But, consider the word abomination

  9. Seems we pick and choose what parts of the Bible we want to follow?. Given in to itching ears?

    I always understood that woman aren't to wear what a man wore. Men wore "crotched" garments and women did not. So are we supposed to buck the Bible and wear that which pertaineth to the man?

    If I want to obey the spirit of the verse then I'll buy a NIV (Non Inspired Version).

    No way man, KJV and literal interpretation all the way.

    Satan knows we wouldn't wanna commit one HUGE sin. So he gets us with little compromises until we've become backslidden and not even realized it.

    Others may have gone the complete opposite.
