Jim, this is one that he wrote himself.

Next time someone accuses you of only liking the "old Hymns" you can tell them that you also like some "Modern songs" - like this one written in 2019 (I think).
    Pay attention to the words....

I'm sure this email was hard for Linda to write:
"I have set up donations for Jim's burial:   To Jim's many friends and family   Please know that your support means everything to me as I navigate this painful time. Even though I realized his life was coming to an end after 80 years, nothing prepared me for it happening so soon. We both thought we would have a few more years together.   We did not even consider Jim going to surgery and not coming out feeling better and having more energy. However he never woke up. He had several small strokes during the surgery. As you may know by now, he is off life support and being kept comfortable till his body no longer can sustain his life. As hard as this time is, I are still continuing to honor his wishes as to where he is finally laid to rest and where he wanted that to be.   Many of you have reached out to me and have asked how you can help me during this time. I really want to honor Jim’s wishes and I plan to do everything I can to make his wishes come true. One of his long standing desires was to be buried next to his late wife Marcia.    Someone has donated the plot for him, and another is building a casket. However, it is going to cost around another $5,000 more to actually get him laid to rest. If you are able to, and comfortable doing so, I would really appreciate any donation, big or small, towards fulfilling his desire to be buried next to Marcia.   Funds for his funeral cost may be sent to: https://www.paypal.com/pools/c/8WcvSEZEvi   Thank you again for your support during this time.   With appreciation, Jim Foley’s, wife Linda"

"This email is very hard for me to write and send. But it makes me feel better to be able to voice (write) this.
Over the last few months before Jim had his surgery - in my grief now - I had forgotten. In Jim's prayers, that I heard, he often dwelled on his home in heaven and distinguished it from his home in heaven and his home on earth. To most people that may not mean anything, but for me, it told a lot. He had never really done that before a few months ago.   Now that he is not waking up, the doctors have their reasons why. His brain is severely damaged by the stroke. If he did wake up it is likely that he wouldn’t be able to see, speak, feed himself, or breathe on his own. He has also developed an infection (Pneumonia) in his lungs. But I think there is an added reason - he doesn't want to wake up. He really has nothing to look forward to, he hated what the neuropathy was doing to him and it was getting worse, to the point that at some point he wouldn't have been able to do anything but sit in his chair and wait to die, which he felt he was already doing.   I really think he was ready to go months ago, long before he knew about his heart problem. Even though he did have great hope that he would recover from his surgery and feel better and have more energy. I also feel he was torn between the desire to die and leaving me a widow. But there is also that he felt trapped in his body.   So I have decided that I will let him die peacefully. I think he has a few more days before he has to have the stomach feeding portal installed. I am going to tell them not to. It will also be at that time I will have them remove his ventilator so he can pass peacefully. There really is no hope he will recover, but even if there was - recover to what? To continue his neuropathy deterioration? I really think he doesn't want that, and is one reason he hasn't woke up.   I am sorry, so very sorry. Not just for me, but for him, his family, and his close friends. I also know he loved his children dearly. I don't know the exact date they will do this, but it will happen soon. I will go and see him one last time tomorrow and say my goodbyes. I cannot bear to watch him die. This is the hardest thing I have ever had to do. But he would not want to live like this, and I am abiding by his wishes. Please know, my heart goes out to you."

    Here is the latest:
"As I said last night I spoke with the Neurologist yesterday. The neurologist had another CT scan performed yesterday afternoon. The results show that he experienced several strokes to various areas of his brain during surgery. What the Doctor does not know yet is the extent of damage done to those areas of the brain. The neurologist cannot evaluate the brain damage until Jimmy wakes up from the coma.  If he does wake up, then the Doctor will have a better idea of the extent of brain damage. I wish I could give more concrete answers but we just don’t know yet. The Doctors said his condition is very serious but we can only wait to see if he wakes up to know more.    I won't be sending any more updates until we actually know more than this.    Linda"

Sorry I didn't add this update earlier - we were at a discipleship meeting. It doesn't sound good, but here is what Linda said:
"I did talk to the neurologist. But give me a little bit to digest the information I received, so I don't give it to you wrong. I will get back to you tomorrow. Please be patient with me.  I will say there is some chance he might somewhat recover, but it would not be soon. The stroke did occur during his surgery."

    Update from  this morning:

"As of today there is still no change. I asked the nurse to have his doctor call me. We are trying to get an MRI to see how much damage the small strokes have done. He has an implant in his back for his neuropathy, which is metal. They are trying to determine if it would be safe for Jim to get the MRI.   I will let you all know when I learn anything more.   Linda"   @DaveW, this is her response to the message and link:  " Thank you so much for your message and yes he does love acapella music! DaveW reacted to HappyChristian in Male and Female Were Designed and Redeemed to Be Spiritually Equal in Every Way
I find it interesting that when folks tout that male headship as God instituted in Genesis was done away with when Christ died because, you know, new creation and all that, NT verses are either ignored or twisted beyond recognition of their very clear words.
God makes it very clear in 1 Cor. 11 that man needs woman and woman needs man. He also makes it clear that the head of the woman is man. Uh-oh! Rank patriarchy right there in scripture! Keep in mind that Corinthians was written to a VERY carnal church. I think it's fair to say that CARNAL folks need to be reminded that God put man as the head...AFTER the resurrection. Speaking TO the church. Hmmm...
Then we float over to Ephesians 5.  Verse 21 has been used to teach that men are to submit to women, and that is for the  church and the home. Egregious error there. Many marriages have been  ruined by the teaching that this means the husband is not the head. But fair  warning: it is NOT addressing the marriage relationship, but rather the church. And it is NOT teaching that women can be pastors or teachers of men. Anyone who says it is, well, is lying...and God says that lying lips are an abomination to Him.
Gal. 5:13 could be considered a parallel thought to Eph. 5:21.  "...by love serve one another."  That is to the whole of Christendom, specifically our local churches...and it would trickle down to our homes as well. It is not a carte blanche to throw away God's design for the church and the home.   Which is men in leadership...which does not demean women in the least bit.
Eph. 5:22 then goes on to specifics, beginning to deal with the home. God makes it very clear that wives are to be subject to their OWN husbands (not every man just because he's male). And then verse 23: "For the HUSBAND IS THE HEAD OF THE WIFE..." There you have it, in God's own words.
Now, let's be clear...the "caveman" idea of a husband is not what this is teaching (nor is it teaching that women have no  brains nor rights to say something). The next part talks about a comparison: hubs are heads of wives as Christ is the head of the church...and should be willing to die for their wives, as Christ did for His church. I guarantee if a man is leading his wife in the way Christ leads the church he is doing it in a loving way.
I have to be personal here and say that my husband fits that to a "T." Yes, he is the head and his decision is final (like it or not, anti-patriarchs). BUT! There are times his decisions are made based on my suggestions/thoughts. There are times when they are not. There are times he asks my opinion (and times he doesn't, but I give it anyway lol). IOW, he respects me enough to WANT to hear what I have to say. He values my words just as he values me. He serves me, and I serve him. That is how love works.
God has laid it down that man is the head of the home. If one wants to "pull rank" and say that makes man/woman unequal, go for it. Who cares? Our standing BEFORE GOD is equal. And in the home, husband and wife are a team - with a captain and co-captain. Man sets the direction of the home (a smart man does so in agreement with his wife - before marriage), and as the co-captain, the wife helps steer the ship.
This whole anti-patriarchy garbage flows out of the women's rights movement. It is tainted with the stench of pride and rebellion, and God hates it. God has laid down His guidelines. We puny humans have NO RIGHT to go against them. But so many do. Because they think they are smarter than God, and smarter than anyone who disagrees with them. In actual fact, God says, "A fool hath no delight in understanding, but that his heart may discover itself." And let's remember God says, "The heart is deceitful above all things, and DESPERATELY WICKED..."
Teachings that go against God's clear word are foolishness, void of understanding...and desperately wicked.
Don't fall prey to the foolishness.

Oh, and btw, JESUS WAS SUBJECT TO THE FATHER...but nowhere does it state that the Father was subject to the Son.

DaveW reacted to Salyan in Male and Female Were Designed and Redeemed to Be Spiritually Equal in Every Way
Of course they're spiritually equal. Galatians 3:28: "There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus." However, one can be equal and still assigned different tasks, as God has clearly done. (See 1 Corinthians 12)

We used to have an emoticon for beating a dead horse.... I miss that one.
This topic has been discussed at length recently, and no less than two threads have been locked within the last week due to your insistence on advancing an unbiblical perspective. I think we should take a break from this subject for a little while, eh?
  25. I Agree
DaveW got a reaction from HappyChristian in Do We Also Have Bible-Based Doctrines That Are Wrong? Is There a Case for Women as Pastors?
Without wanting to argue with this guy - there is no point arguing with a man such as this - I will point out a few things:
After my initial post in this thread, where I stated that Bible truth is truth, He refused to acknowledge that the Bible has absolute truths but instead manoeuvred around the point to state that all sorts of groups believe what they follow is Bible truth. In doing so, he promotes the point of view that the Bible has no absolute truths, but only perceived truths. This aligns with his presented "bible studies", which are all about perception and "interpretation".

Then after my second post he first states only his opinion (and the opinions of others) that Junia is a female name. He is relying on the convention in Greek that male names end in a consonant and female names end in a vowel. But this is the ONLY evidence that can be presented and it is not a 100% certainty. As displayed by for instance.... Aquila.... who is married to Priscilla.
    Act 18:2
    (2)  And found a certain Jew named Aquila, born in Pontus, lately come from Italy, with his wife Priscilla; (because that Claudius had commanded all Jews to depart from Rome:) and came unto them.
Apparently, because of the surrounding language Aquila is a man ("His wife"), but if we insist that the regular convention be 100% consistent then this couple would fit right into today's societal redefinitons. (He will probably use this in his next book as a proof of alternative lifestyles being promoted in the Bible).
Further, he discards the word "kinsmen" as being generic and non-gendered, because it suits his argument, however the Bible uses two words, and these are clearly used according to whether only men are referred to or more generically, a group of people which could include women.
    Luk 2:44
    (44)  But they, supposing him to have been in the company, went a day's journey; and they sought him among their kinsfolk and acquaintance.
    Luk 21:16
    (16)  And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death.
The only use of "kinsman/men being in dispute being this one referring to Junia, which is only in dispute because people WANT Junia to be a female name, WITH NO EVIDENCE of such.
He also admits that husband and wife are inherently masculine and inherently feminine but the sidesteps that entirely to force the verse to be irrelevant with a side argument which is not relevant to the discussion.
In doing so, he makes the Word of God to none effect with humanistic reasonings, again emphasising the point that he has no regard to what the Word of God actually says.
This man has constantly and consistently ignored what the Bible actually says in order to redefine, re-understand, reinterpret, and simply outright ignore what the Word of God actually says.
He does this in every thread he has posted or participated in (as far as I can see), and he has come onto an Independent Baptist forum to make merchandise of the Lord (he promoted his books aggressively until he was told he was not allowed to do so here), and to try to sway anyone who comes looking for Bible truth away from Bible truth. Bible truth which he believes is entirely relative to who is reading it, as I pointed out in my first statements on this post.
Finally, anyone who disagrees with him he proclaims to be dishonest, mean spirited, and not acting according to the directions of the Lord, or in a manner aligning with a "Good Christian character".
    To that I say only:
    Tit 3:9-11
    (9)  But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.
    (10)  A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject;
    (11)  Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself.

    and:
    Rom 16:17-18
    (17)  Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.
    (18)  For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.

It is indeed Biblical to mark out men such as this man, who has posted foolish questions designed to sway people from the simplicity in Christ, and who has by his actions before he was stopped, shown that his purpose was to swell his own belly by the merchandising of his own thoughts as he promoted his own writings, the whole while twisting and ignoring the Word of God, claiming that it is not the Word of God as it is written.

My advice to anyone reading OLB at this time, is that where you see this man's name on a post, you need to be aware that this man does not value the Word of God as the Word of God, he has no desire to reveal the truth of the Word of God, but only his own perceptions and interpretations of the Word of God, and the god that he follows is simply not the God of the Bible.
And finally, none of this is an unfounded personal attack, as the facts that I state are clearly seen in his own posts and answers to other people's posts. I am not angry, other than to be offended at the blatant misuse, mirepresentation, and wresting of the Word of God, and disguised evil intent to draw people away from biblical truth. I am not attacking the man, but what the man has said and presented on this forum. It does however indicate the character of such a man and as such he will no doubt cry "ad hominin" to it.
