If you read anything, you should read http://www.amazon.com/Birth-Order-Book- ... 0800785967 . He does a very good job of explaining how things are with typical birth orders. I liked the original better than the new one, myself.

It helped clear up a lot of things that we were facing in our home and gave me a better grip on handling "issues."

The problem I have with my firstborn is that she is just like I was at her age. She's the bossy big sister first, then she's the reliable one. She fusses and fumes and demands that others obey her.

I know exactly what she's doing because I did it. We tend to clash because I see right through her, but we are working very diligently on her.

My husband works with a fellow from Jamaica who co-owns a hotel there. He's also building a new house. He told us that when he finished the house, we are to visit him there :cool

Honestly, I have quit listing prayer requests here because I'm not sure anyone reads them since no one responds. I've listed answers to prayer in the past that go uncommented on which has made me think no one cared to pray in the first place.

I'm not mad or anything because, well, this is internet and not reality.

Those people who are real in my life appreciate these things more than a bunch of anonymous people do.

I don't think it matters as long as husband and wife are in agreement. The Bible never specifically demands that the husband pay the bills.

Exactly. It was not the crucifixion that the early Christians celebrated on Sundays...the Lord's Day. It was the resurrection. After all, Christ Himself says that He is the Resurrection and the life.

Our day of rest is on Sunday since it was Resurrection Sunday that made it possible for us to truly enter into His rest.

was written to had not suffered unto blood yet. The author of the book said that Christ had suffered unto blood. It didn't say they would, it said they hadn't.

Who says that we believe the church will be raptured just so that we can avoid chastisement? Do you forget that Christ, the author and finisher of my faith took my chastisement upon Himself? My sins are under the blood of the Holy, perfect Savior. My penalty has been paid.

My works will be tried in heaven, but my sins are under the blood of Christ.

Or is His blood insufficient?

In my thinking, that statement lends itself to the criticism that the original languages were insufficient.

I don't think we ought to be comparing a translation to a translation but to the original manuscripts.

Um, Marcus, do you not pay attention to the ridiculous laws that get passed in your own state? Doctor assisted suicide, for instance...

This is also why I wrote my own math curriculum. Video based curricula spoon-feed the mind and can even lull the brain into laziness, whereas a study method designed to get the student to read and "experiment" with intricate concepts will stimulate creativity processes.

My advice::: Get rid of the TV and write your own curricula. :Green

I've heard wonderful things about the math in Abeka' date='ABeka was the start of her troubles. The kids in her class at school were extremely bright (she included) so that when she began to get behind in math, they couldn't hold everyone back to get her caught up. We worked at home, but she got discouraged and never really caught up.
Is the score from the test broken down to show where she is struggling most? It is broken down and she messed up on all of it. We thought she was going to have some improvement because her confidence really sky-rocketed at home this year...and as I checked her work at home, there seemed to be a correllation.Another thing to consider is this... If she tested at a third grade math level, you may need to take a couple steps back and return to your 3rd grade math workbooks. Get her solid in the third grade level before moving on, then get her solid in the 4th grade level.I've looked at the LifePacs and I think she could go back into the 4th grade of those and be fine. The 3rd grade LifePacs are things she doesn't struggle with.


Is there anyone at your Church who is good at math that could help? Sometimes with young children just having a young adult who is closer to their age explain it makes all the difference.

I thought we were making progress with my 5th grader and her math, but her achievement test returned and she's still in the hole. She tested at a third grade level.

So, I'm thinking LifePac to get her caught up, but maybe you all have suggestions on better math resources.

Okay, here's my weird theory for the day. The Bible talks about the heart being very much the centre of a person's being, right? Now, I know that 'the heart' in that case is not supposed to be the physical heart, but what if our soul is somehow tied up with our physical heart (during this time on earth). Couldn't that create some sort of problem in the case of a heart transplant? As in, could one 'inherit' sinful tendencies that one does not usually struggle with, or something like that? (I know it's weird, but it's no further off than eyes popping out during the rapture! )

I just paid $4.21 a gallon for regular...ethanol added gas. Therefore, I get about 16 miles per gallon if I'm lucky.

I would add that the Pastor has consistantly offended a member and refused to acknowledge that he could possibly be at fault in the matter.

Little offenses are one thing, but when a pastor chooses a man to be a fall guy for his pettiness...that's entirely different.

Man is not the ruling authority, the local church is, all authority is not given to the pastor, but to the local church. And as long as they make no rules that cause you to sin and or go directly against Bible teaching, they're within their right.

One thing Jesus would not like is rebellion against the authority of His Churches which He gave all authority too.

23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.

Seems some will submit to their local church just as long as it suits them.
