  1. Our Pastor's daughter passed away early this morning. Please pray for the family of Bro. David Gonnella. Their Daughter Beth was just 2 weeks shy of turning 26. She left behind her Mother, Father, Little sister, and companion dog. She was a wonderful woman that has served the Lord her entire life, even through all the pain she was in (Chronic Migraines). She was a Sunday School teacher, Pee Wee club (Wednesday night children's church) teacher, Organ/Piano player, and many many more things to us all. We will all miss her so much.
    Thank You.

  2. I'll give you advise on hosting.

Baptist Web Hosting $5/month and you support IFB's. :)

Yes, I saw this after posting. As of right now we are already hosted with someone else. I think godaddy. I'm not sure how long we are paid through. We are trying to find the login information.

I agree that the site is easy to navigate, and I certainly don't want anything complicated. I am more turned off by the actual "design" aspect. The background images and stuff. I personally would prefer more simple and clean looking. Thats my big issue, also we were limited to the amount of pages on there, and I would like to add a few things like I mentioned above.
I guess for now I'm going to wait till we find out the sign in information and go from there.
  3. Ok, so our church has a website and we have crammed as much info on it as possible, but its not really pleasing to look at, and there are a few features that I think would be nice to add to it.
    www.landmarkbaptistch.com
Thats our site...see what I mean! LOL

I've been wanting to redo something for years, I am pretty sure with the right information I could figure out a basic site that will meet our needs, but I don't know where to start.

Here are the Pages we would like.

    Home/welcome page
    Pastor's Page
    What we believe
Ministries (Some will be a basic description, such as our Radio Ministry, others I'd like to list like our sunday school classes with photos of Teachers)
    Missions
    Calendar
Sermons- We have recently started to record our Services and we would like to be able to get them on the site.
    Way to Salvation
    Schedule of Services
    Map to the Church
Photo Gallery (not necessary, but I enjoy looking at them at other church websites)

About our site, our pastor knew a guy that built websites, and we paid him to do this one. We ended up not having any information like hosting info, or passwords, or how to change things if we want to start over from scratch with our domain name.

We are broke, the church can't afford much, pretty much anything that we do needs to be as close to free as possible. Actually I'll be doing what I can, and I'm sure I'll pay for whatever we need done. I'm hoping not much, as we apparently already have hosting, I know we paid for it this past year. I am not sure how much longer we have till time to pay again though. I was thinking of using wordpress, not 100% how though. I guess I'd need wordpress.org not .com and host through whomever we already have...hopefully? LOL
Anyway, point of post, I would love it if anyone that knows what they are doing here would like to maybe mentor me?!? LOL Give me tips, advice, something? Right now we are hoping to find out the info on hosting, so that should take a few days, other than that I'm not sure where to begin, or even if I can.
    HELP! Please?? LOL Thanks!

  4. Ok, I haven't been on in a few months and I'm wondering if the threads are in a new/ different order? When I click on one the original post is like in the middle of the page and there are responses above, and below it. Is it just me? Or am I missing something? LOL

  5. This is pretty sensitive, but her story has been all over the internet, so why not share the Truth, as has been told by her husband, they need prayer. Her family is "quiverful" as the stalkers call them. She is a Mother of 8(9 now) and she chooses unassisted home birthing. With this pregnancy she *thought* she was carrying twins, so they called in a Midwife to care for her at the end. MW also thought there was twins, They heard 2 heartbeats (one was a strong echo) and she was very large. When she went into labor, she passed out, and was quickly transfered to the hospital which was only 3 miles away. She died twice on the table, which is why her child did not survive. He lost oxygen because the mother did.
The hateful people online, blame her lifestyle, having so many children, the midwives for "lying" about her having twins, and the fact that she was originally planning an UC. None of these come into play with AFE, which they fail to believe. They think that she caused her child's death.
3 days prior to her labor these people online that had been following her blog for MONTHS and posted her address on a public forum, one of them stopped by her house with a "gift" to see what her life was like from the "inside" they took online criticism, and gossip to a dangerous and new level.
Carri just found out about these people last night, and is very hurt, and scared.

  6. I'm sorry I forgot to update this. Carri Lost her baby during delivery, but she has had a 100% recovery. There are no known effects from the AFE, she is home now, with her other children. They held a service for their Dear Son on Monday.
The family needs continued prayers for safety for thier family. Her story has sparked negative attention online, and people are stalking her family.

  7. I thought I'd chime in and say that my reasoning for NOT using hormonal(or non hormonal) birthcontrol is because I personally am not 100% sure that they do not cause abortion I dont think its constantly causing abortions, and thats the way they work, but I think there is the possibility, Therefore I will not take that risk, but that can become another argument all together. I have done a lot of reading on the matter, and never have felt peace about it.
I also had a good chuckle at Ptwild. The cycle is not always like clock work, and easily predictable. I have PCOS and can go from regular for 3 months, to irregular for 6. Its not clockwork!! I CAN for the most part predict, by using signs my body gives me.
I asked my questions for the reason that I'm not comfortable with saying "everyone else uses some sort of contraceptive" Or, All married couples do something to prevent, or plan or whatever.
I dont want to do what everyone else does, I want to do what I believe in my heart to be right. Thats why I am asking questions, to help me further understand what the Bible says about it. Not what the World says about it. I came here, because I know that there are so many people here that would be able to give me scriptural resources that I couldnt get by asking my mom..or my best friend. KWIM?
I will admit though that I do get a little discouraged every time I visit this site. It seems that so many threads turn to debate. (please dont flame me for this, its just something that I notice, maybe I'm just too sensitive)

  8. LuAnne, this is exactly what I'm doing. I was having a HARD time with accepting that my husband didnt want more children. I was no being the way I should, and even found myself Nagging him about it. Since I started to pray more about my conflict about "planning" I have also found myself more content in accepting what my husband wants. I have decided that on MY end, I'm giving it to God, and by doing that I am submitting to whatever my husband decides. I figure God will do his part. If he wants us to have more, we either will "accidentally" get pregnant, OR God will change my husbands heart. I'm going to continue for God's will be done, not my own, OR my husbands.
Thank you! And thank you John. I actually have seen a few of your other posts on this subject, and they really do make sense but as I said, I also need to not go around my husband on this (even though that would be like...impossible in THIS situation! LOL)
I did talk to my husband about my concerns. He didnt have much to say. I figure that he knows my concerns, and hopefully he took me serious, and will pray about it too.

  9. I'm sorry if this is in the wrong place, please move it if you need to.

I'm having issues with this right now. I know that my opinion is biased because I long for more children. We are able to have more physically. My husband and I are both fertile. Thats not the issue. Right now we have 2 babies (well a 3 almost 4 year old, and a 2 year old).
Neither of us have ever liked the idea or thought of me being on hormonal, or IUD birth control. I've always had conflict with it because I believe they can unknowingly cause abortion. But I've also wondered if any sort of Prevention is in one way or another telling God "No, I will not have any more children"
My husband thinks we should be done, at least for now, because he doesnt think we can afford another. But on the same hand he says we should have faith that God will provide for us. Which he Always has, and I 100% believe that he always will. So I'm wondering are we doing wrong, not being faithful, not putting our trust in the Lord, if we dont trust Him to give us more children when HE is ready for us to? Not when WE are ready? My husband says that we are also to be good Stewards, yes we are...but wont God continue to provide for us with 1 more, or 2 more, or 5 more...however many more children He wants to Bless us with? Am I being Nieve? This has always been something I've felt strongly about. Even before we were pregnant with my son, I felt like by avoiding, I was telling God "No".
Can someone please give me some insight here?
    Thank You.

  10. Carri is an online friend of mine. She Has lost her baby during delivery, and it is unknown if she will make it. It was discovered that she has AFE and the maternal mortality rate is very high.
    Please Pray.

  11. Sell things to Church members and visitors? Or outside the church?
I know a few churches that our famliy members Pastor have a "Penny March" or something like that, but I dont know the details. I should call them! LOL But We have so few kids, like right now at most on Sunday we have like 6 kids. We have young ones, that would love a play area outside, and it would be nice for us parents to have something to occupy the kiddos while we have Church dinners and such. I also thought about just having a big jar that the kids decorate for fundraising, and people can add to it as they can, or want to. We can just wait till we raise enough $$ for a swingset or something. I just dont know what the best method is.

  12. Ok, what would be an acceptable way of raising money in the church for stuff like youth group trips, and stuff like that? We have a small church, and not many people give on a regular basis, but they do give when we have special things going on in the church, or need help with building/painting and such. We currently dont have any outdoor playtoys for the kids, and we would LOVE to put something out on the property, but its just not in the funds right now. Is there a way to raise money within the church? How do you do it? :puzzled:

  13. Im with you Ray!
I grew up watching the Cowboys and I am glad they are having a good season so far! My Husband hates it! He just said the other night "Yea Yea, THe cowboys and their big heads I was so sick of hearing How 'Bout them Cowboys" I had to laugh when I saw your post!
WHat part of Texas are you from? WE are Central Texas!

  14. Can someone point me to some good info on the vaccines? I didnt even know about the oral one until I took my son in on Monday. We didnt get any of them done because he is sick but I am so confused and conflicted on it all.
My daughter is due for her last shots and my son is due for his first and I have found myself extremely worried about it.

  15. Please forgive me I am really sick and my head isnt working properly on NO sleep with a 2 year old, and a 2 month old with all of us having bronchitis! I got an email from an old friend this morning and in it she was telling everyone to go to a non-denom church that believes the bible. So I emailed her back asking why she would specificlly say non-denom? This was her reply. I need help replying back to it! Thanks
    Sheila

    Her Response:

I like non-denominational churches because we believe every word in the
Bible was inspired by God as where some other denominations pick certain
parts of the Bible they believe in like the Catholics, etc. I went to a
Baptist church before where you had to be baptized to be a member.
Baptism is a symbol of dying to the flesh and being raised again in
Christ. You should be able to be a member of a church, but baptism is a
choice a person has to make when they are ready to lay down their lives
and to be reborn with Christ. That's why I go to Lakewood. Before
Lakewood I attended 2 other non-denominational churches that are all
spirit filled and still believe in speaking in tongues, etc.
