  1. Those are the ones that have been the focus of the discussion, the ones who are breaking the law, such as not moving out of the way of emergency vehicles.

If they are not breaking the law or hampering emergency workers and such, then they are within their rights.

    Ohhhh..... my bad :hide:

I was thinking the beef was with "storm chasing" in general. But I agree, they shouldn't be getting in the way of emergency personnel.

  2. The same thing that's wrong with the "nuts" who go tearing across the country, around here, after a heavy snow in their four wheel drive (off road) vehicles. They're just having fun when they trespass to play on someones farm land. They are just having a good tme when they are weaving in and out of traffic (rush hour in a snow storm) and causing chaos on the roads.

We don't have heavy snow often, so the good ol boys have lots of pent up passion to have a good time when we do get it. Other folks have to deal with the aftermath, especially out in the country, while they brag about the good time they had, after the snow melts. Ever seen a spring wheat field after it's been visited by these folks who are only out having a good time and some adventure?

But that's breaking the law. Obviously, that's not right. But if your not breaking the law or putting other people in danger, what's the problem?
  3. I want to learn a good web development language. I've been looking around on the internet for good ones to learn, but everyone says something different. I'm kinda leaning toward PHP and MySQL. I have basic knowledge of C++, Java, and HTML.

Is PHP a good route to go? I want to learn something useful and not overly complex.

  4. This site does not deal in file sharing of movies, songs, & junk, & there's lots & lots sties that do not deal in such things.

But if users here uploaded a video of a song, or used a copyrighted picture in their avatar, the site could be held accountable. At least that's one way I understood it.
  5. How does everyone feel about these pieces of legislature? I'm surprised it hasn't been brought up here. I think they are serious infringements on our freedom of speech.

If you don't know what they are, SOPA is the Stop Online Piracy Act and PIPA is the Protect IP Act. You can check out what Wikipedia has by going to this link -> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:SOPA_initiative/Learn_more
    Google has this -> https://www.google.com/landing/takeaction/

  6. :amen::thumb:I'm very glad our music selection is broad.

When I was first saved I attended an Assemblies of God church with my girlfriend who attended that church. EVERY service they sang the same song...and they repeated the chorus over and over again!

That girl and myself went our separate ways but several years later I went to church with her again (we were still friends) and to my surprise and shock, they STILL opened their services singing that same song and they still repeated that chorus over and over again.

I thank God for our church team using more than a handful of hymns from our hymnal and even printing out good songs that aren't in our hymnal for us to sing.

My church just got new hymnals so we'll be learning bunches of new ones.

  7. 1 in every 300 people in our county is a member of our church ---- Bible Baptist Church (1 in every 190 people in our city). Look up the population in your county and divide by 300, does that sound like a reasonable size or maybe even large church?

    Our total membership -- 18

50% come out for visitation, 100% work in some capacity in the church with the exception of one member who is 97 y.o. and a resident of the nursing home -- and she gets people to come out for services @ the nursing home!!!

We average just over 100 on Sunday mornings (about 1/400 of our county). We average over 40 (combined) on our two buses. We're growing, too!
  8. I'm not sure if the crime rate is actually rising in the Pittsburgh area because a lot of nearby cities to the south always had pretty high violent crime rates, but it's just that perceived violent crime is rising in Pgh since we've had 2 high-profile shootings in the past 5 months.

I saw some statistics that said Pittsburgh has the 61st highest violent crime rate among the largest 250 cities. Philly's at 22.
