Thank you, @PastorMatt. Keeping the family in prayer.
Even though I didn't always comment on his posts, I admired his obvious love for the Lord and his desire for people to learn the truths of scripture.

Last night, Taco Bell. Blah. Kind of going away from much fast food, as too many carbs. My wife and I are going to try the Keto. Tonight, beef patties with cheese. Probably about it.

I am posting this with permission from the family. One of our members @Alan has gone on to be with the Lord last week. Alan was a great contributor here, and was a blessing and encouragement to many on Online Baptist. Alan will truly be missed on this earth, but he is now with our creator. Please keep the family in your prayers during this time as there are details that need to be worked out.
Please feel free to comment below on how Alan was an encouragement and/or blessing to you.

Except for the ham,   it's "just like"  the sixth day when twice as much in abundance was provided generously by God to be more than enough, yet not too much,  for two days.

We had some of our own go on deputation in the past and they had to go the extra mile explaining we're not a non-denominational local church. One said she thought it might have cost her some support but we can't know those things for sure. We had changed our sign out front to reflect we were and Independent Baptist some years back but retained the Decatur Chapel on it. It will help folks in the the area know where we stand, to some degree. We're having a new website built too, when it's finished I'll share with you all.

The doctrine is more important than the name, so I'm glad that you are changing the name to reflect your position.

Today we had potluck at church. The church bought fried chicken...and the deli gave us the wrong order. So - they called us and told us our order was still there. They GAVE it to us, so we had an overabundance of chicken. Not only did we feast on it for lunch, we were able to send a bunch home with folks, and deliver some to others.
We also had ham, au gratin potatoes, pasta salad, potato salad, veggies, and two different cakes for dessert (lemon, and strawberry shortcake).
The best part of the day was the preaching/teaching. On our first Sundays, we have an afternoon service instead of an evening service. It works out nicely since we have the potluck. Our son has been given the honor and responsibility of teaching the afternoon service, so it is even more enjoyable for me.

Has anyone watched these? I thought it was interesting how the downed trees in Spirit Lake below Mt. St. Helens are sinking by the roots first and making an underwater forest which will not long hence become petrified...like the petrified forrest in Arizona. It doesn't take millions of years.

We are still in lockdown so we have not been able to meet with anyone except my daughter and some of her family who live at the same address.   We have been able to have one service at church and from the 21st march we will be able to have an evening service as well.  That is my birthday.   We will have to spray the chairs between each service.  2 weeks ago my grandaughter and the husband returned from Nice in France and twas hey have to be self isolating in the back annexe, 1t was her 21st birthday last week so my daughter went to thw chippie and got some takeaway chips while her husband cooked some steaks. No restaurants are are to open as yet. Today I did spaghegti bolonaise.

My local church is changing it's name from Decatur Chapel (Happy may remember us by that) to Decatur Baptist. We're still adhereing to the IFB tenets, instead of moving away from them.  Probably wouldn't set well with the liberal leaning crowd for us to be going the other way.

Thank you.  After my last I went back to the hospital for another 10 days and am still recovering.  Spent my 50th birthday in there!  LOL

And the other day we received the news that my oldest brother had tested positive. He is showing no symptoms, and is going to get a second test (because so many of the positives are false). But he is also going to see his doctor and getting on a regimen of things to combat the virus if it is indeed in him.

Does anyone else enjoy this besides me? Miller-Urey 1953
"But the Miller-Urey experiment, important as it was, had a flaw. Urey had based his primitive-Earth atmosphere on astronomical data just then coming in, the first spectra from the giant planets in our Solar System: Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. These characteristic bands of color showed that the giants were swathed in atmospheres rich in methane and ammonia, thought to be left over from the planets' formation.
The catch is that oxygen, although an absolute necessity for multicellular, advanced life, is poison to pre-biotic synthesis. Do a Miller-Urey experiment in an oxygen-rich atmosphere, Kasting said, and "you don't form things like amino acids. There are too many oxygen atoms in there." So, over the years, "enthusiasm for the warm little pond theory has waned." ~ Reflections From a Warm Little Pond, By David Pacchioli

I didn't make it past the second line. I'm so tired of people who think they know things they don't. This man, whomever he is, has no idea who the Proud Boys are. Nazis? Traitors? Hogwash. Some people need to stop swallowing all the garbage the MSM spews.

Tomorrow is our church potluck day (we do it every first Sunday). Mom made spaghetti, and white cake/lemon icing for dessert. I made a beef stroghanoff gravy and rice, and a green salad. Others will be bringing different things (I know sloppy joes are coming, too). So tonight I tried out the rice and gravy. Yum!

HappyChristian got a reaction from Jim_Alaska in pulpit supply vs. pastoral candidate
The church my husband now pastors had 3 men acting as pulpit supply on Sunday mornings - for 5 years. When we joined the church, my husband was asked to join the roster of pulpit supply by the pastor who founded the church and was supplying the speakers. The members of the church, however, asked him to candidate for pastor. He did, and now is pastor.
Two years ago, he had an accident that put him in the hospital for weeks and laid up at home longer. The pastor whose church founded ours graciously supplied pulpit fill while my husband was down.
So, I guess in a nutshell, pulpit supply is filling in for an absent pastor, while pastoral candidate is someone the church is looking at as possible pastor. As Uke said, the time would be up to the church, in accordance with their church constitution (if it deals with the issue).

    Transhumanism
Transhumanism is a class of philosophies of life that seek the continuation and acceleration of the evolution of intelligent life beyond its currently human form and human limitations by means of science and technology, guided by life-promoting principles and values. – Max More (1990)
“Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.” [Romans 1:22-23]
Transhumanism is just another attempt to avert God and build a "better" human. Fromr the little I've read it appears to be a global movement. I sure would like to have a list of their membership. It might help me understand some of our politicians actions and activities. Anyone else looked into 'transhumanism?
