    Their nasty religion reminds me of this.....
    Matthew 23:27 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness. 28Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.
    A woman covering herself is good in and of itself. But I want no part of conforming to any facet of any dead religion which practices, sanctions and celebrates the things Islam does.

    I agree that the clothing is not the problem, but it is an outgrowth of the problem: totalitarian humanism draped in pseudo-religion and "holiness."  There is such oppression and ungodliness in the societies where women are mandated by law to wear this type of clothing (actually, the women in the photo are underdressed for some of the societies...).
    Clothing is always a result of a society's relationship, or lack thereof, with the God of Heaven.
    God says that my hair is my covering - hence, I do not need scarves to cover my head for modesty (not saying someone who wears a scarf is wrong, just saying that to claim it is more modest is stepping beyond what God says). The problem with these ladies' head coverings is that they are rooted in a religion of works. There is no modesty or holiness truly associated with them.

    Nah. We rent, so the parking lot belongs to the landlord. So we can't designate anything permanently. Hubs never even parks near the building. He prefers leaving the few spots for those who cannot walk far. I don't think there's anything wrong with designating, if the church so desires.

    Yes, I did. lol...when I met Sarah I knew she was the perfect one for Josh. I "introduced" them via Facebook, by encouraging my son to friend her and get to know her. it took a while, but here we are a couple of years later with a wonderful DIL and a beautiful grandson. No regrets on my part, for sure.

    Monday morning, I got a message from a Muslim wanting to buy a male sheep, two days after the Hamas attacks.  Coincidence?  I'm leery of selling sheep for any get-together where all or some may be celebrating the atrocities done in Israel.

    HappyChristian reacted to BrotherTony in Country and Western Music "Christianity."
    Over the past few months, I have been listening closely to the lyrics of many Country and Western music artists when they are singing about God, Christ, and Christianity. It distresses me that so many within our churches these days listen to and blindly follow some of the doctrines within the songs sung by these singers. Their lifestyles betray them when it comes to their Christian values. While it is true that many do many good things, and they talk a lot about God, and some even give great testimonies of salvation, they do these things with glaring issues that are inconsistent with Biblical Christianity and Salvation. Many promote the ideology of baptism as their salvation, while many make mention of a prayer they said when they were young, while, when growing older, they have left the faith and are currently only involved in Christianity or things with Christian values to help increase the size of their returns on investment…money.

    In listening to one country artist not too long ago, I heard him make these statements in the song he was singing…”I only talk to God when I need a favor,” and “Why should I expect to receive a savior?” This singer goes on to say that he sends up prayers like one saying the rosary. This is just one glaring example.

    Let’s take one of the best-known country artists of all time, Dolly Parton. Ms. Parton talks often of her grandfather who was a pastor in a small country church. She says she came to be a believer when she was very young. She is well known for her good deeds and contribution to conservative causes. She does give some indication of salvation. But, if one listens closely, she speaks of “spiritual energy,” and “having faith” but never once names the name of Jesus Christ or what he’s done for her. This is a false Christianity.
    There are many other examples of this false Christianity. It's definitely another "Jesus" they are putting forth to others.
    I'm not saying that many of these artists haven't truly been saved, but, I find it hard to believe that they are following Christ when they won't clearly come out and give HIM the glory and tell others what HE has done in their lives.

    My wife and I took care of my mother until she died. She had dementia. I could calm her down when she became upset, but she was 5'3" and I am 6'3". I could sit next to her and put my arms around her and she would relax. I have already instructed my children to put me in a nursing home if I get dementia. What if I become violent or abusive. I don't want to put my kids through that, but I suspect that they will try to take care of me.

    Don't chat with your neighbour - unless you are leaning over to ask what the verse was or making a quiet comment on what is being preached from the pulpit. I think Acts 17:11 has its place - but not at the expense of others hearing the sermon too.
    Do not come to church to sleep. Yes, there are times when we really want to honour the Lord, but get overwhelmed with tiredness - but to deliberately come to church to snooze (or show a pattern of snoozing in most services) is just disrespectful. I know people who do that, then they have the nerve to get onto me and my family because one of us is interacting with the message in some fashion (like telling my nephew where what the preacher is speaking about is mentioned in the Bible, or showing a verse that clearly disagrees with what the preacher is saying**, etc.).
    **Since Covid, my last pastor started bringing in religious junk and some false doctrines into his sermons. My family and I did our best to pay attention and gauge what was being taught, until God clearly showed it was time to leave. Sad about it all though.

    if churches don't manage their money well, the members ought to do something about it...not quit giving, but hold the pastor accountable for how the money is spent. There are times a new church sign is necessary (we would LOVE to have a permanent sign, but we cannot because of where we meet...bureaucratic red tape). There are times a new roof is necessary. Or a new building. Those are all necessary parts of having a local church building. I would be more concerned about other spending issues than a new sign, end times or not. We are to occupy til He comes and signage is a part of that for a church.

    That passage teaches us how to understand the Word of God. God said if they were obedient and submissive to it, it would bring them rest and refreshing. Because they rebelled and would not hear the Word of the Lord, God would speak to them through other tongues - ie. through the Assyrians and Babylonians that would take them captive.
    Isaiah 28:9-10
    Whom shall he teach knowledge?
    and whom shall he make to understand doctrine?
    them that are weaned from the milk,
    and drawn from the breasts.
    For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept;
    line upon line, line upon line;
    here a little, and there a little:
    It goes with this passage:
    1 Corinthians 2:13
    Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
    And this:
    2 Peter 1:20
    Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.

    No Scripture stands alone - it must all fit together, as 2 Timothy 2:15 teaches. We are to take all that the Bible teaches on something, here a little and there a little - wherever the Bible touches on something - no doctrine or teaching (ie. precept) stands alone on any one passage, but must take into consideration all that God has to say on that issue.
