  1. I don't believe that the 3,000 souls added to the church would qualify as mega in current terminology. When I hear mega church, I don't just think large church. I think modern, feel-good, raunchy atmosphere/music, doing all they can to bring in whomever, sometimes regardless of salvation. But that's just me. heehee And we are one VERY small church that won't be closing. ?
  2. Brother Jim's surgery is complete. I will post updates here as I get them from his wife. Please be sure to pray for her as well. First - "I am beyond exhausted, but I know many are waiting to hear how Jim's surgery went. The surgery went very well. They ended up doing a quadruple bypass. The Doctor said his heart was like brand new in how it functions now ? - However, the last I heard he hasn't woke up. They did a CT scan to see if there was anything wrong that would keep him from waking up. But they said they didn't know how long it would be before the doctor would read them and get back to me. So, I chose to go home because we have a dog that needs taken care of and the hospital doesn't like people to sleep there. I will update you all further, but I have to get some sleep. I will call before I fall asleep to see if the doctor has looked at them. I will update as soon as I know. If I don't update within an hour there is no news to tell." An hour later - "Ok, the doctor called. The ct scan shows he has had some small multiple strokes on both sides of his brain. But it doesn’t show how old they are. But this may be why he isn't waking up. They are treating him like they would if he had just had a stroke. They are also going to do an MRI soon." A few minutes ago - "I just got through talking to the nurse. There are no changes. I will call in every morning to check on him. And if there are any changes the nurse will call me. At this point they said his no waking up would probably be because of the stroke." Hospital Address: Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center 2825 E. Barnett RdMedford, OR 97504 He is in Room 2011. Jim Foley. If you want to send a card.
  3. I am so sorry, Invicta. I honestly don't know what I would do.
  4. I used a pot roast from the beef we got from our neighbor. It was SO good! I don't like thick pasta, so I used angel hair (thinner than spaghetti). We all liked it very much! So there is a little bit left over...Randy will likely have that and some of the roast for supper. Mom is making herself some soup. And I'm thinking a hamburger. Heh. It's like a diner here sometimes. I've never had moose, but would be willing to try it. I don't like fatty meat, so I'd be happy with that! I prepped the roast in the pressure cooker so it was tender and melt in your mouth!
  5. We are having beef stroganoff, my style. heh It's pretty tasty.
  6. Welcome aboard, Josie! We're glad to have you.
  7. Oh, too bad I didn't see this earlier this morning. Hubs and our visiting missionary and 2 men of the church went out street preaching. heehee
  8. I've thought about it. But hubs eats so many vegetables (and I do mean A LOT), that they'd never keep up with us. lol As to beef, we bought a half from neighbors...good beef, forsure!
  9. Glad you're getting better. Hubs and I had heavy fatigue for a few weeks after ours was over. I recommend Air Power and Vit D 3 for your lungs. (if you take Vit D, take some magnesium, too, so it doesn't get depleted from your body). The Air Power will especially be good since you have asthma. I don't think you were bragging, and I don't think that's why you got it. Viruses do what they do, when they do it. ?
  10. Bro. Matt told us all that in an earlier post...scan through for his comment and you'll see.
  11. Aw, that's wonderful that you could do that! We, sadly, were only able to have one child (almost died with him). He is 36, and just had his first son. I'm 63 and hubs is 62...I used to tell our son that he needed to have kids while his dad and I were still able to hold them. lol It's been a real joy seeing him with his son, and being able to be grandma.
  12. I'm doing a green and purple mix. I like it. ?
  13. No worries, Jim...you're younger than my mom. heehee @Pastor Matt - what a blessing to already be a grandad at 50! Lots of years (Lord willing) to enjoy the babies!
  14. Amen to that! Vetting doesn't always work. This makes me want to vomit. And then get a baseball bat.......
  15. So sorry your pupper is still feeling sick! I did a chicken breast in the air fryer for mom and me. We ate it early, but with some pasta it was enough not to need supper. Hubs had the men's bbq at church tonight. He grilled burgers and brats, taters, and corn. They had a good time.
  16. I like it as well. Although I, too, thought I got on the wrong site at first. lol
  17. I find it interesting that when folks tout that male headship as God instituted in Genesis was done away with when Christ died because, you know, new creation and all that, NT verses are either ignored or twisted beyond recognition of their very clear words. God makes it very clear in 1 Cor. 11 that man needs woman and woman needs man. He also makes it clear that the head of the woman is man. Uh-oh! Rank patriarchy right there in scripture! Keep in mind that Corinthians was written to a VERY carnal church. I think it's fair to say that CARNAL folks need to be reminded that God put man as the head...AFTER the resurrection. Speaking TO the church. Hmmm... Then we float over to Ephesians 5. Verse 21 has been used to teach that men are to submit to women, and that is for the church and the home. Egregious error there. Many marriages have been ruined by the teaching that this means the husband is not the head. But fair warning: it is NOT addressing the marriage relationship, but rather the church. And it is NOT teaching that women can be pastors or teachers of men. Anyone who says it is, well, is lying...and God says that lying lips are an abomination to Him. Gal. 5:13 could be considered a parallel thought to Eph. 5:21. "...by love serve one another." That is to the whole of Christendom, specifically our local churches...and it would trickle down to our homes as well. It is not a carte blanche to throw away God's design for the church and the home. Which is men in leadership...which does not demean women in the least bit. Eph. 5:22 then goes on to specifics, beginning to deal with the home. God makes it very clear that wives are to be subject to their OWN husbands (not every man just because he's male). And then verse 23: "For the HUSBAND IS THE HEAD OF THE WIFE..." There you have it, in God's own words. Now, let's be clear...the "caveman" idea of a husband is not what this is teaching (nor is it teaching that women have no brains nor rights to say something). The next part talks about a comparison: hubs are heads of wives as Christ is the head of the church...and should be willing to die for their wives, as Christ did for His church. I guarantee if a man is leading his wife in the way Christ leads the church he is doing it in a loving way. I have to be personal here and say that my husband fits that to a "T." Yes, he is the head and his decision is final (like it or not, anti-patriarchs). BUT! There are times his decisions are made based on my suggestions/thoughts. There are times when they are not. There are times he asks my opinion (and times he doesn't, but I give it anyway lol). IOW, he respects me enough to WANT to hear what I have to say. He values my words just as he values me. He serves me, and I serve him. That is how love works. God has laid it down that man is the head of the home. If one wants to "pull rank" and say that makes man/woman unequal, go for it. Who cares? Our standing BEFORE GOD is equal. And in the home, husband and wife are a team - with a captain and co-captain. Man sets the direction of the home (a smart man does so in agreement with his wife - before marriage), and as the co-captain, the wife helps steer the ship. This whole anti-patriarchy garbage flows out of the women's rights movement. It is tainted with the stench of pride and rebellion, and God hates it. God has laid down His guidelines. We puny humans have NO RIGHT to go against them. But so many do. Because they think they are smarter than God, and smarter than anyone who disagrees with them. In actual fact, God says, "A fool hath no delight in understanding, but that his heart may discover itself." And let's remember God says, "The heart is deceitful above all things, and DESPERATELY WICKED..." Teachings that go against God's clear word are foolishness, void of understanding...and desperately wicked. Don't fall prey to the foolishness. Oh, and btw, JESUS WAS SUBJECT TO THE FATHER...but nowhere does it state that the Father was subject to the Son.
  18. I chose DeSantis. Of the current candidates, I think he's the most trustworthy. Trump's attacks on him just increase that thought, because I clearly remember the lies he spread about Cruz. Trump will probably win the nomination, though - and this nonsense going on with his arrest, etc., will just stoke the fires to re-elect him. I am not basing my vote on their religious beliefs (although I will never vote for a Muslim), but rather on their adherence to or lack thereof the Constitution. I lived in IN when Pence was governor. There is no way I would vote for him. Kennedy is an interesting man. While he's a Dem, he's also got some very right beliefs for which he is not silent and has been greatly maligned. I don't think the party wonks will allow him to win the nomination - I think it's in the bag for Joe and Kammi (pronounced commie) because the powers-that-be have in mind to install her. I wonder how it would go if whomever is the GOP nominee were to choose RFK jr as their running mate. Although I have heard that Vivek is pretty good.
  19. Regarding fish/whale...did you know that there is a whale shark? It's a fish, not a mammal. They're the biggest of all fish. Some grow to 18 meters long...plenty big enough to swallow a human.
  20. Jonah was a picture of what would happen to Jesus. Throughout the OT there are pictures, without having actual death (think Isaac being sacrificed by Abraham). I think it's pretty clear that Jonah didn't die. Chapter 1 ends with the fact that he was in the belly for 3 days/nights. Chapter two starts with, "Then Jonah prayed..." If he were dead, he couldn't have prayed. He does say that his soul fainted but the word in Hebrew means the same as our modern day "languished." That is not dead, but rather probably very weak, close to death. Just saying I think his prayer makes it clear he didn't die. Pictures aren't always exact replicas.
  21. My hubs preached on compassion. I was ill so wasn't there to hear it - I type the bulletin, so...heehee. Seriously, he's been preaching on soulwinning for a few weeks. Good, timely messages.
  22. WA state - Best: the weather is normally very temperate; we are surrounded by mountains, trees, and water - GORGEOUS scenery!; I am able to be with my mom Worst: the politics in this state are rank, vote-by-mail-fraud; liberal pols in the legislature voting in bills that are absolutely egregious to the state constitution and scripture.
  23. Except that the title "virgin" is used with the gross misunderstanding that she was a perpetual virgin. She was not, and would likely be unhappy to know that she is known to so many as "virgin Mary." God did choose her...but remember that she was told she would be blessed AMONG women. Not ABOVE them, as the rcc has extrapolated. Interestingly enough, Deborah WAS listed as blessed ABOVE women. If we were to use those prepositions as basis for importance, Deborah was more important than Mary. Just so you know, my husband does preach about Mary - when God leads him to do so. I have also taught about her, just as I have many other ladies that are mentioned in God's Word. Mary was privileged to be the channel through which Christ came physically into the world. Yes, that was an honor. But we need to remember that she was humble enough to know that SHE was not the important one.
