  1. Our church services revolve around Jesus. We sing, hubs or son preaches (we do have one other man who teaches once a month as well). We fellowship with each other. We are very thankful when our pianist is able to be there (she has major health issues), as it helps us sound better when we sing. lol. One day, as we grow, we will hopefully add more instruments. We have a specific order in which we do things, because the Bible says to let all things be done decently and in order. However, it is not ritualistic nor formalistic. We recently had a visitor (who's been twice) who was excited to find a church in the area that meets on Wed night and is friendly. He's planning to return Wed night and bring a friend. The area in which we live is full of folks who believe they are spiritual, but are not "religious" (their word). It is a hard area to reach because of this, as so many are satisfied with their own ideas of church and Christ. So when we get a visitor who is happy to return and to bring folks, we rejoice. Thursday is Pi Day (3.14), so we are having a pie fellowship after the service Wednesday night. Pizza pie and dessert pies will be there. We strongly believe in first fellowshipping around the Word and then fellowshipping with each other, to edify one another.
  2. Nah. The CURRENT meaning is to restock. The original meaning - in old english, as was used for the KJB - is simply "to fill." Not refill nor restock nor fill back up. Plainly and simply, no species existed until God created them as recorded in Gen. 1. Saying otherwise says that death occurred before sin. And that did not happen...the Bible is clear that death came through Adam. Not before. No raging debate here. Just simply knowledge of vocabulary and the fact that words change meaning over time. Just so you understand, this is a discussion board. Refrain from addressing folks as carnal...in order to enjoy so-called "christian forum membership."
  3. I know a woman who would fit this category...her husband was a pastor (he's in Glory now). They had several kids (5 or 6, 1 girl the rest boys). I had several chats with one of the sons who himself is a pastor. Most of the children have nothing to do with her because of the way she was while they were growing up...I will not go into detail, but trust me that "odious" and "brawling" are apropos. Anyway...two of the kids (one being the daughter) are serving the Lord and have healthy marriages. The rest do not. This son told me that he learned about marriage from his dad, who he believes taught him - by his actions - just exactly what loving one's wife should be, regardless of how the wife is. I thought that was both the greatest compliment he could give his dad and the saddest thing ever. I agree that both parents are responsible. I do think that, because God placed man as the head, he has more of a burden. But I also believe that, once said child hits adulthood it is completely on that child to choose to do right. I've known many through the years who have served the Lord with all their hearts, even though they got NO teaching/encouragement from home to do so - whether from mom or dad. That said, I think our young people need to have it impressed upon them the seriousness of having one or more eternal beings to nurture. I thank God often for the way my son and dil are raising their son (and will do with others if/as God sends them). Asher will be the one to make the choice whether or not he will submit to God. But he's got great parents to lead the way. (his Grandpa D's no slouch, either heehee)
  4. Talked to my niece today. She sounds a WHOLE lot better. She still tests positive, so she's not going anywhere for the rest of the week and next week she'll be keeping Otto just to play it safe. Her husband is still running a bit of a fever. Thank you for the prayer.
  5. Otto is doing better, but both his parents have been hit with it. I haven't checked today, but yesterday it was pretty miserable for them. I wish I could take Otto just to help them out, but I can't risk his bringing it here and infecting any of us (especially my almost-85-year-old mom).
  6. His fever has stayed down since coming home from the ER last night, praise the Lord! Mom and Dad are pretty sick right now, though. I'm gonna be making some chicken soup on Monday and bringing it over there and dropping it off.
  7. Fever came back with a vengeance. They are back at the ER.

  9. Now his mommy has it. He's doing a bit better; fever broke earlier. I haven't heard anything tonight, but wouldn't be surprised if the fever was back. Otto is on the right. Three months younger than Asher, but already a bit bigger (his daddy is bigger than Asher's daddy).
  10. My 6 month old great nephew was diagnosed with c*vid last night. His fever was 103.3 AFTER Tylenol. He was throwing up in his sleep last night also. Fever seems to have broken for now and he is sleeping well. Please pray that God will touch his little body and heal him. AND that God will reach his mom and dad through this. His name is Otto. And he's a precious wee one. Thanks in advance.
  11. I get the sentiment...that we are supposed to love and help others. But here's the thing: there was no Gospel presented. It was a "feel good" commercial that didn't point folks to Christ. To me, it was more of the "tolerate everything" (except genuine Christianity) agenda. The hate that Jesus didn't teach reference isn't, IMO, aimed at the folks who actually DO teach hate, but rather at Christians who warn about sin rather than, well, washing feet. My take on a very weak, again IMO, message that doesn't present Christ.
  12. Welcome. I hope the fellowship available here will be of comfort to you.
  13. What wonderful news! I look forward to the day when I can say Asher accepted the Lord!
