    Is anyone an NBA fan?

I have been addicted to basketball since I was 12 years old and follow both college and NBA but I am a huge fan of the NBA. Does anyone other than myself follow the NBA closely?

    Revelation 14:13

Revelation 14:13 states “and their works shall follow them” speaking of the death of the tribulation saints. 1 Cor. 3 states that that we are building on the foundation of Christ and that the labor we expend on our spiritual structure will ultimately be represented as gold, silver and precious stones as well as wood, hay and stubble. I believe that the gold, silver and precious stones will make up the crown or crowns that we will lay down at the feet of Jesus in Revelation 4:10. Their rewards do follow them would indicate that both positive rewards and negative rewards will be eternally acknowledged. While I do not believe 14:13 is simply a soul winning promise there is a crown for the one who has a passion to bring others into the kingdom of heaven. In Philippians 1:4 and 1 Thess. 2:18-20 Paul refers to those he had led to Christ as his crown and his crown of rejoicing. We also know that the bible clearly speaks of at least four other crowns that may be received by believers after death. I believe I am on solid ground comparing the two passages in the New Testament. Here is my question, are the works that will follow the same works that will be tried by fire? If they are, then are both rewards somehow eternal? Meaning will the metal the crown is made of, gold or silver, mean anything eternally and will the lack of precious stones on those crowns be an eternal indicator to others of what we failed to do on earth? Will the crowns be place at the feet of Christ as a token to what we have allowed the Spirit of God to accomplish through us and that will be the last we see of the crowns? I will be interested to read your thoughts on this question. Thanks for taking your time to respond.
  3. Good morning to all, This fall I will begin a new journey with my SS class through the book of Luke. In preparation of these messages I would like two or three good commentaries on the book of Luke. Currently I am just finishing William Barclay’s commentary and have found his rich understanding of Jewish history amazing. I have always liked JFB, but would like to expand my authors on this project. I am contemplating G. Campbell Morgan so if you have a comment on him I would like to read it. I look forward to reading your responses.

    Early church eternal security

Sorry, I have not gotten back to you sooner but I have been very busy. I would suggest you read the first 5 or 6 chapters of Thomas Armitage's History of the Baptists for a clear understanding and wonderful word picture of the process. Research to understand how the Monarchial Bishops slowly rose to respect and power and how that meshed with the persecution by the Roman Empire of the early churches. I am really cramped for time so I just cannot do the research again right now. but would be happy to help later in the year when not strapped for time. Hope this helps.

Egg plant tastes wonderful. cut about 1/4 inch thick roll in egg, then roll in flour fry in olive oil till lightly browned on both sides. I like to add spices to my flour, but these are great for a side with almost any summer meal. If you are not a fryer, use the same process and lay on a cookie sheet in the oven at 350 for 25 minutes.

    air rifles

Squirrels are killing my flowers this year and really frustrating me. I have had a few problems over the years but with my neighbor passing away a couple of years ago (he would trap them) the squirrels are breeding to fast and are really digging up my flowers this year. I borrowed a Ruger Blackhawk Elite .177 Pellet Air Rifle with Scope and have not zeroed it in. I am wondering if it is powerful enough to kill a squirrel. I am on the very edge of town and cannot use my 22 rifle but the squirrels need to move or end up in my frying pan. the fps is around 1000 - 1200 which should be enough to kill at 25 yrds. your thoughts?

    Whats for Supper...

Here is a recipe I tried recently and really like. It is spicy hot so beware. take one to several Jalapenos and slice very thin across the circumference (I leave the seeds in them), add a little olive oil to a skillet and turn on medium heat, place the Jalapenos in the skillet and fry them adding Montreal Steak spice. Fry till light brown and eat with your favorite foods. the taste is addictive (at least to me).
  10. I was just making a post in another area when this thought hit me, that I feel enslaved by technology. I want to disconnect everything but find I cannot for fear of being isolated. does this make sense? People come to our home when we invite them for dinner or lunch and yet it does not seem that anyone just stops by anymore for the sake of friendship. When we do get together with family and friends no one actually has discussions, references are to funny utube videos, or a movie, or some recent sporting game mostly they just sit around looking at their phone, texting one another while the person they are texting is in the room. In the last two years I have not had more that 3 or 4 meaningful conversations with anyone under 30 years of age unless I am teaching and a question comes up. How is that we can be so "connected" and yet so isolated? I go to church and (I love our church and pastor and our church family) it seems when the last amen is said everyone over 40 disappears we have a large congregation for a city of twenty thousand. I get the feeling something is wrong but I can't put my finger on it. We grow by 20 people per year, we have soul winning and special days, we are often told we are one of the friendliest churches in our area. Our pastor is a tremendous preacher and teacher and yet with all these positives. I do not sense the same corporate power of God today I sensed 40 years ago. I believe that technology is always calling for our attention right now and consequently we never have the time to get alone with God for a couple of hours, to dwell on what God wants to speak to us about one on one, to read the scriptures for an hour instead of reading a couple of verses and a 300 word devotion so we can get back to our friends who never come by to spend an afternoon or evening talking about the Lord. I saw a picture on Facebook a few days ago that kind of summed up todays understanding of God and salvation. The caption stated "yep I am on my way to heaven, I clicked "like" on a picture and typed Amen!" I am not sure if people under 40 truly understand what "true fellowship" is? I am not complaining per se just wondering how old I really am. I realize I cannot go back 40 years but should I have to go back if we are a New Testament church? Acts 2:46 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, Acts 2:47 Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

    windows 10

I just read another article on windows 10, and it reminded me I had made this post. lol http://searchengineland.com/microsoft-says-no-to-other-browsers-248381 I am not in a position to purchase another computer nor am I tech savvy enough to truly understand the intricacies of these forced choices. To me it just seems to be greed forcing people to pay for things that are free from many websites. Kind of like the IPhone you pay an outrageous price for the phone then pay an outrageous price to use it. I feel trapped by technology and want to just turn everything off but if I do I will have contact with hardly anyone.

    air rifles

Thanks. was not sure if I should take the time to zero the scope. I definitely want one shot one kill but not as steady on the trigger as I once was. ha. the rifle seems a lot heavier than my 22 I would guess it weighs 7 to 10 lbs. Thanks for the confirmation of where to shoot them. The air rifle is a single shot breakdown pump but it is free as opposed to paying 150.00 for a decent vermin weapon.

    An Eternity At Dire Risk

I have prayed that the Lord will give you strength, boldness and determination to go beyond suggestions and present to this person God's glorious offer of salvation. These are the moments hope burns brightest for both the hearer and the presenter. May God hear our prayers and comfort you during this time.

If you have one practical tip you can share

Always find something to compliment those you are speaking to. Always leave the door open for a return visit. Look for opportunities to use your personal testimony of salvation and use that as a stepping stone to talk to the person (s) about salvation. I do a jail ministry weekly and can tell you I have used my personal testimony to open the door to present the gospel at least a hundred times. People want to identify with your message of hope and when you share what Christ did in your life they get a picture of real hope.
  20. This article was sent to me by a friend and though it did not shock me I was surprised by their ignorance of God, the Bible and prophecy. I would appreciate reading your thoughts. http://mobile.wnd.com/2017/05/allah-takes-over-church-in-heart-of-u-s-bible-belt/

    straw bale gardening

I am about two weeks behind this year. I should have had my straw bales out already and prepping them but will get them set tomorrow and provide some pictures. I was surprised by how much residual straw I had left over from last year a small pickup truck full. So I have decided I will use that all that good plant food for my flower and herbs beds on the south side of my house. It should drain well and if I do 10ft by 4ft bed I should be able to plant pretty much what I want for this year. I will set out between 10 and 16 bales this year and will attempt to plant pole beans and sweet corn together so the beans can climb the sweet corn and I should not have to stake them (hopefully). I will post some pictures.
