    It is not that hard.

There is no reason to suggest any gap between vs 1 and 2.

The language and grammar do not suggest it nor require it.

the language used throughout chapter 1 is distinct and clear that it means 24 hour days.

Read what it says, for it says what it means.

MatthewDiscipleOfGod got a reaction from John Young in Why King James Only?
I see a lot of criticism of Ruckman and Gail on here but no one giving first hand evidence as Steve mentioned. I don't care for Gail acting as a pastor at times and Ruckman's name calling but as for accusations of misquotes first hand examples should be given. Steve is correct, all men are liars. I have yet to meet someone have has never lied in their lifetime. Fundamentalism's biggest weakness is everyone flocking to their own leaders. For some it is David Cloud, for others it is Ruckman. For others still it may be Sword of the Lord leaders or some school they attended. We need to go back to the Bible. The Bible alone needs to be our sole authority.

NOBody has proven to me that she has lied....
I am to trust what her critics say absolutely without question, but I can't trust what she says in her own defense????

    Not very Christian like.

I don't understand how we can discuss something 2nd hand and accept the accusations without question.  Since nOBody here can prove it either way, then all we really have the right to discuss is the substance of her arguments, and NOBODY wants to do that.

    Shame on all of you.

I provided the definition of Machiavellian above, and that is what I went off.  You don't have to worry about my skin being thick enough - I have faced some pretty hostile crowds.  You are the one who levelled that charge against me, and yes, it is a charge of being dishonest - CHECK THE DEFINITION.

And as a reminder, the only reason I jumped into this discussion is because of the FALSE ACCUSATIONS leveled against somebody that I know personally.  Those false accusations have not been retracted.  There is no "axe to grind."  I just don't like it when people are dishonest in their mischaracterization of people, and when they fail to discuss the actual substance of the issue.

MatthewDiscipleOfGod reacted to John81 in Why King James Only?
That "stood the test of time" is a very important factor and one that most KJB detractors have a difficult time trying to deal with. That's why they will most often ignore and steer clear of the 400 year track record of success only the KJB has and instead argue that the language is "archaic" and "nOBody can understand it".

Interesting to consider that young children used to learn to read using the KJB but today it's claimed neither high school or college graduates can understand the KJB. I would say that's an indictment against the education system, not the KJB.

I see now they are promoting the MEV as being the newest and best Bible today. That's the same thing they said previously about the ESV, NIV and so many others. How long before yet another MV is deemed necessary for the sake of publishers profits?

MatthewDiscipleOfGod got a reaction from Miss Daisy in Why King James Only?
The King James Bible is perfect for many reasons which I don't have time to get into. God promised to preserve his words. Modern versions, such as the ESV and NIV, are always coming out with new versions which change words. The King James Bible has stood the test of time and doesn't lack important passages that the modern Bibles lack. Finally, the modern Bibles contain legitimate conflicts which are not in the King James Bible.

I guess I had not noticed, but I did report a feed that was Southern Baptist.  It does not make sense to have an auto-feed that promotes the Cooperative Program and Southern Baptists.
I think Br. Cloud is a far better candidate for auto-feeds, and I also think he gives us more substance than Paul Chappel.

    Just my opinion though...

That is why I try to make the Bible my source of theology. I love Cloud but where he departs from the Bible I depart from him. I love Gipp but where he departs of Biblical truth I depart from him. Before I was IFB I followed John MacArthur and believed pretty much whatever he said in his study Bible without taking the time to study the issues for myself.

MatthewDiscipleOfGod got a reaction from candlelight in Where do we draw the line for IFB?
I wouldn't consider one IFB if they are fans of Billy Graham, Rick Warren and the Willow Creek gang. I also believe they should believe in a literal Genesis, the Bible being the final authority and that spiritual gifts such as tongues and prophecy are not for today. You can probably be IFB and listen to CCM but it is a very bad idea for many reasons. Same goes with those that use the newer translations such as the NIV, NASB and ESV that are based off the "Critical Text". Also an IFB isn't going to be a social drinker or smoker and watch Two and a Half Men.

MatthewDiscipleOfGod reacted to Steve Schwenke in Early Church Fathers Were Premillennial, Pre-Tribulation Rapture
That's just too funny for words, coming from you.  The army of Joel 2 is anything BUT locusts, and the events recorded, particularly in the first half of the chapter have not yet occurred.  Your desire to shove everything in the past demands that you overlook too many things, and spiritualize everything away.

You see, this is why I have so little respect for your position and those who hold to it.  You are implying that I (as well as other dispensationalists) are NOT serious students of Scripture.  Now, you would never outright SAY that, but you imply it at every turn with your snide comments like this.  You constantly refer to our view as "fanciful."
Who are you trying to kid?  If you want me to respect you, then you should show some respect for me.  Constantly deriding me and my position like this does little to gender respect.

It is inconceivable that you would be offended at my "Mormon" illustration, but then not expect me to be offended by your constant put downs - "I am a serious student of Scripture (but YOU aren't!); dispensationalists hold to a 'fanciful view of scripture'....you don't believe in a literal interpretation....

I was not talking about the GOSPEL, I was referring to the KINGDOM - the literal, visible, physical KINGDOM that the OT promises to Israel, complete with a PHYSICAL Temple, and a functional priesthood, and DAVID HIMSELF sitting on the throne.   The Lord withdrew the offer to Israel to set up their promised Kingdom, and has delayed the fulfillment of that promise to a future date.  It will be fulfilled AFTER the events of REv. 6-19 occur.

If you are such a "serious" student of Scripture, surely you should know the difference between the KINGDOM and the GOSPEL.  Even then, the Bible speaks of 8 Kingdoms, and several gospels as well.

That's all I have for you, Ian....no more responses from me.  It is fruitless and unedifying.  Go ahead and keep puffing yourself up, bragging about how "serious" a student you are, and putting us down as often as you can.

MatthewDiscipleOfGod reacted to DaveW in Catholic Persecution of Christians
You see this kind of wording from you is what keeps me confused about your stand.

You keep heavily defending the catholics, and then don't include yourself as "one of us".

This exactly the kind of talking I would expect of a catholic, but you continue to say you are not one.

It just doesn't seem to match up?

MatthewDiscipleOfGod got a reaction from Preacher Justin in HOW OLD IS THE EARTH?
The Bible is pretty clear the Earth is around 6,000 years old. You have to do a lot of scripture twisting in my opinion to get millions or billions of years.

The fact that it is associated with Getty for starters! The folks who first sang it for seconds. This song was created for a subversive use, to entice fundamentalists into the ecumenical fold. It also contains blasphemies that were recently point out here.

MatthewDiscipleOfGod got a reaction from swathdiver in Faithful Baptist College?
He doesn't call himself a brider even though he says some would claim him that. There are many definitions when it comes to "Baptist Brider". I find nothing in his doctrine that would cause me to shy away from promoting the school. No one will ever agree 100% with the doctrine of a school. All the free schools I have looked into have much greater problems. Even the ones you have to pay for online I have found have bigger issues with when it comes to doctrine.

MatthewDiscipleOfGod got a reaction from 1Timothy115 in Faithful Baptist College?
I really enjoyed Church History. They are kind enough to provide you with all the notes you'll really need but you can take additional ones if you like. They also highlight the parts you really need to work on when studying for an exam. If you watch all the videos and study the exams normally are not very hard. That said there are some more difficult than orders. I had to write some papers for some classes but some of those I believe now are optional. If you want to take the Masters course you will have to write a final paper.

There are people talking about Baptist Briders. Pastor Warner does believe there have always been Baptist churches even though they were not always called Baptist in name. I agree with that but not all of the online students agree with that and you are not required to believe that. There are people that are not even Baptists that take the courses. Pastor Warner also doesn't believe you have to be a Baptist to be saved.

Where do you get this from? Do you have a scripture to back this statement? My bible says ALL SCRIPTURE is given by inspiration of God. The context of the passage is in reference to copies too.

MatthewDiscipleOfGod reacted to Fixation in Kj Bible College
I would like to disagree with you on just one point. The Bible says in Psalms 12:7 -

Ps 12:7 Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.

While word for word there are differences, if we take God at what He said, contextually and in meaning you could translate the Bible into any language and not lose any of the purity of Scriptures.

MatthewDiscipleOfGod reacted to No Nicolaitans in Book The Harbinger Johnathan Cahn
Not to be a nemesis here, but I wouldn't recommend people read it. I haven't read the book, but I've read reviews and listened to one person who read the book 9 times in order to grasp the details...

Cahn takes a little too much licence in applying things to America that were prophesied for Israel. Some of his similarities are stretched too far from what I understand. America isn't Israel, and what was prophesied for Israel...was for Israel.

Cahn denies it, but his book borders on Replacement Theology...

It isn't necessarily "wrong" but you should be careful. If you read after people with some unbiblical doctrines they can influence you in those areas sometimes without you even realizing it.
