Calvinism is not a "secondary issue" at all.
In Calvinism salvation is through the choice of God - in the Bible salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ.
    This is another Gospel.
And no small issue at all.
I have always found it interesting to see what other false doctrines people will accept in their zeal to follow Calvinism.

No I am not. I read it this morning on their website.
They do not call it that, but they teach it.
Just like I don't think you will find the name "Calvin" on their website, they are absolutely Calvinist.
Look, I am not here to rag on MacArthur specifically, but yhe question was asked specifically of me about my general warning.
You can argue about individual points all you like, the guy needs to be taken VERY CAREFULLY, if you want to bother to listen to anything at all from him.
    You do what you like.........

Because it was asked, and it is not appropriate to further pollute that thread.

    MacArthur promotes:
multiple bible (per)versions. Calvinism (and I don't care what name you put on it). Progressive worship. "Elder rule". Universal church. Although I wouldn't recommend going to his site, if you do, all these things are cleatly evident.
He does get some things right, but 90% of rat poison is good food - it is the 10% that is dangerous.

Alan, Christians are not to yoke with unbelievers.  Therefore, they should not vote for any heathen/lost person as they serve their father, the devil.  It is our responsibility to occupy till he comes, to cultivate and promote and elect candidates with a biblical testimony of salvation.
Several years ago I researched each member of the House and Senate and President's Cabinet and came up with 2 people who were saved the bible's way.  I have heard from folks here that Trump has heard a biblical presentation of the Good News and how to partake in it.  I have not heard whether or not he's accepted Christ as Lord and Savior.  Some time last year he stated that he had nothing to repent of and no need of being born-again.  Several years before that he bloviated that the Presbyterian religion was great and wonderful and so on.
Just as liberals previously suffered from BDS and PDS, they are already suffering from TDS, Trump Derangement Syndrome.  They will continually lie and attack him from now til their deaths.  A truly hope the man gets saved, wins his family for Christ, including his Jewish son-in-law and wife, and shares the good news from the oval office with the American people.
Can you imagine the positive impact such would have had for black folks and many liberal democrats if Obama had accepted Christ while in office?

Like Obama, I will constantly pray for his salvation, support him when he honors God and oppose him when he does not.
President Obama and Secretary Clinton share the same ideology. Indeed, they shared nearly the same path of radicalization, Obama passing through the same doors as Hillary just a few years later.  They are box Marxist-Leninists whose god is their belly and hate America and her founding documents and her founding fathers.

I see a lot of criticism of Ruckman and Gail on here but no one giving first hand evidence as Steve mentioned. I don't care for Gail acting as a pastor at times and Ruckman's name calling but as for accusations of misquotes first hand examples should be given. Steve is correct, all men are liars. I have yet to meet someone have has never lied in their lifetime. Fundamentalism's biggest weakness is everyone flocking to their own leaders. For some it is David Cloud, for others it is Ruckman. For others still it may be Sword of the Lord leaders or some school they attended. We need to go back to the Bible. The Bible alone needs to be our sole authority.

Removing the usage of "ye," "thou," "thy," and "thine" from the King James translation would make it LESS accurate; for the usage of those 2nd person personal pronouns are in the King James translation for very specific grammatical reasons.  I myself certainly would be AGAINST a less accurate translation.

MatthewDiscipleOfGod reacted to Pastor Scott Markle in IN THE BEGINNING
Yes, when the Lord God created "the heaven [the space of the physical universe] and the earth" in Genesis 1:1 at the very beginning of the existence of the physical universe, the space of the physical universe ("the heaven") was completely empty of anything except a single planet, "the earth."  Furthermore, that planet ("the earth") was completely covered with liquid water ("the deep"); and that water was without any form of land and was void of any life.  Throughout the six days of His creation work, the Lord God would then create the "form" of the planet and would then fill the "void" of the planet.
The Hebrew verb "hayah" is the most basic being verb of the Hebrew language.  As such, it most often indicates being or existence in some manner.  Even so, at the moment the Lord God created "the heaven [the space of the physical universe] and the earth," the earth planet existed in a condition that was "without form and void."  Or, (if you would rather) the Hebrew verb "hayah," as a being verb, can indicate the idea of "becoming."  Even so, at the immediate moment before the Lord God created "the heaven [the space of the physical universe] and the earth," the earth planet did not at all exist.  However, at the very moment  the Lord God created "the heaven [the space of the physical universe] and the earth," the earth planet became into existence in a condition that was "without form and void."

I believe my King James Bible is error free. It doesn't need any kind of correction. As soon as you say your Bible isn't perfect you put yourself in authority over God's words. Men love to be in control so believing in a perfect Bible isn't popular, even in IFB circles.

MatthewDiscipleOfGod got a reaction from Ukulelemike in What is your position on music and why?
My thoughts originally was that music was amoral and that the only thing that mattered were the lyrics. I was always a big rock fan even before getting saved so I didn't want anyone taking my music away from me.
The first thing I noticed was the fruits of CCM. I often when to CCM concerts. I started to notice the bands on stage promoting Roman Catholicism. I also saw several rock bands go secular and living a non Christian lifestyle once they started getting popular. I would read interviews with CCM artists and see them praising the pope which told me they were either ignorant on what Roman Catholicism teaches or they held to a false gospel themselves. I finally had to admit that the musical beat does affect the flesh. It makes it easier to ignore the lack of good theology in most of the lyrics and to ignore the blatant ecumenism. Now you can see a lot of CCM artists not taking a stand against homosexuality. CCM is a business which several use to make money. Christians should avoid CCM in church and at home.

I would never regularly attend a church that doesn't believe the King James Bible is error free, that uses CCM music or is a church that promotes Calvinism. This is far from a complete list but are some items that are missing from a lot of people's lists.

He hates Jews more than Muslims. He is running a campaign to go out to Michigan and hand out a DVD to Muslims entitled "The Jews and Their Lies". He believes Jesus went to hell for 3 days. He seeks and thrives on controversy. He has a good view on the KJB and Calvinism but because of his other doctrines I cannot support him.

MatthewDiscipleOfGod got a reaction from heartstrings in Who Is Your Favorite Pastor Among John Piper, John Macarthur, Max Lucado, Joshua Harris, Aiden Tozer, And Charles Spurgeon. Why?
I don't know if I could call any of them my favorites. Piper is a 7 point Calvinist who thinks Rick Warren has good theology. He is also weak on his conviction of believers baptism. MacArthur has some good theology but is also a Calvinist who allows CCM music in his church and also yokes with people that he should not. Spurgeon was pretty good and even though a Calvinist he did things to get on other Calvinists nerves. David Cloud on the other hand would be one of my favorites.

Yes, the "coming" is His return."
I like how you complicate matters by introducing foreign elements into the text.  Matthew 24 is self-explanatory.  The other references you introduce are not necessarily parallel or related passages.  Let's deal with Matthew 24 and what it says FIRST before we move on.

The text is clear.  The only way you can come to your conclusion is by making it say something it does not say, with a very stretched interpretation of "clouds."

In previous discussions, we have discussed "this generation."  The generation that is alive when these events begin to take place will live to see ALL EVENTS, including the coming/return of Christ.

MatthewDiscipleOfGod got a reaction from Preacher Justin in HOW OLD IS THE EARTH?
The Bible is pretty clear the Earth is around 6,000 years old. You have to do a lot of scripture twisting in my opinion to get millions or billions of years.
