Dinosaurs are lizards that lived in locations conducive to their survival. Lizards are reptiles and reptiles exhibit indeterminate growth. I.E. as long as they are alive they will continue to grow in length and size, albeit very slowly. Some dinosaurs did not reproduce until they were at least 300+ years old. This is one of the reasons some of them became exinct. If we go down to the Amazon river basin or the Belgian Congo and speak to the natives they will tell us of humongous lizards (aka dinosaurs) that are very much alive today. Not only that but the skeletal reconstructions of dinosaurs in museums are not hoaxes.

The earth in the antedeluvian era was a total global tropics. i.e. there was a water-vapor canopy surrounding the earth that blanketed the entire globe and created a "sauna-effect" on the earth. In this fashion a mist went up from the earth night and day to water the earth. It also created elevated air pressures of 30 to 35%, instead of 14.7%, and O2 concentartions of 30+% instead of our present 21%. This effect is called a hyperbaric chamber and promoted phenomenal growth rates. We've seen dragonflies trapped in amber (aka petrified tree resin) that had wingspans over three feet wide. The average human being was over eleven feet tall.

Are there extra-terrestial beings?????? Not at all the way the world portrays them. However, let's ask another question::::: Are there demonic beings, (aka fallen angels) at work that can manifest themselves physically if God permits them to.??? Yes, and it is part of the end-times occurrences.

Please understand that a lot of the so-called UFOs are nothing but hoaxes designed by other humans to deceive. When I lived and worked in New York I belonged to a model aircraft club. We built flying machines of all sorts, and some of those things were large saucers approximately ten-feet in diameter. The main structure was designed as a system of counter-rotating rings with vanes. The counter-rotation provided balance as well as a gyroscopic effect that kept the craft vertically oriented. There was an on-board generator that provided electricity for lighting. When we flew these things we would hear later of reports that some people were frightened out of their wits.

I am considering the wicked leaders of this world like the Pharoah in Egypt who tried to kill Moses, and King Herod who had all of the male babies 2 yrs old and under slaughtered in hopes of destroying the Christ Child, and I am thinking of Hitler and Stalin who came to power and were the embodied spirit of the Anti-Christ. I think that God, being All Knowing, KNOWS who will be in power, but I do not think he necessarily APPROVES of everyone who comes to power and authority. I tend to sometimes think it is sort of like a Cosmic Chess game between Satan and God. Satan rules the earth, and will possess whomever he chooses - people who lust for power and glory are his favorite victims - and when that happens God has to step in and protect His Children. Even though the Jews are His chosen people, God did not save all of them, and 6 million of them were destroyed by Hitler. But there were enough saved that Satan could not completely exterminate them, no matter how hard he tries - every so many thousand years Satan does his best to destroy God's people.

Perhaps God has something more important for that child than Little League Baseball, so praying about it just might be a good idea.

Praying it one thing we can't do to much of. I really think, that every born against Christian, with the price that has been paid for that soul, God is interested in all aspects of that life.

I forget how I found OB - I think I was reffered to this board from another baptist board that was not a KJVO board and I got called a Ruckmanite for saying that I believe in the KJV only! Anywho - there are some people that you can read the entire Bible to them and they will still claim "there is no scriptural basis for XYZ." We need to pray for our "babes in Christ" and pray they grow enough spiritual teeth that they will eventually be able to eat the meat of the Word and not remain on the milk for much longer.

WOW! sounds like Florida politics!

A friend of mine has been living the American Dream - he has a big new house built 10 yrs ago, with a pool and jacuzi, a shiny new mustang convertible, etc etc etc (LOT of emphasis on the etceras!) he is in debt up to his eyeballs, and because he works for the state government, his job is hanging by a thread - our state bugdet has a $2.6 B shortfall - and they are cutting back on all government programs in this state. If he loses his job he loses the house the car and all that he "owns" - he has a wallet full of credit cards he will be working until he is 100 yrs old to pay off. So he wil have to pay the fiddler for the dance he has been doing!

He is not taking this econimc downturn well at all!

Webster's 1828 dictionary defines a right as:

"That which justly belongs to one."

A privilege as:

"A particular and peculiar benefit or advantage enjoyed by a person, company or society, beyond the common advantages of other citizens."

These definitions are faulty even, but the point is, there is a HUGE difference between a RIGHT and a PRIVILEGE. A right is something you are born with. A privilege is permission given you by a higher authority to do something. Our Country was founded upon the fact that we are endowed by our CREATOR (The KING of KINGS and LORD of LORDS) with certain inalienable rights. Our constitution doesn't grant us these, GOD does. So if you believe this... Why do we put up with the government usurping God's position? We have a RIGHT to bear arms. We don't need PERMISSION from the government to have them. That means we don't need a permit. What..? Yes, that is a right that we supposedly believe GOD gave us. How about drivers licenses? Do we not have a right to travel? If you OWN the car (100% ownership) then why do you have to register it? Or have a license to use it? How about marriage? When did the government get the AUTHORITY to marry people? Why do you need a marriage license if marriage is a GOD GIVEN right? The fact is folks... Either you believe God gave you certain rights or not. Government is not set up to be obeyed blindly, it is set up to PROTECT our rights. It's righteousness and authority is gone once it no longer protects God given rights. Or so our founding fathers say. So who is right?

It is our Christian DUTY to obey the laws of the land. God does not want his people to be considered "outlaws" of the government.

The Process of Marriage: Kiddushin and Nisuin
The process of marriage occurs in two distinct stages: kiddushin (commonly translated as betrothal) and nisuin (full-fledged marriage). Kiddushin occurs when the woman accepts the money, contract or sexual relations offered by the prospective husband. The word "kiddushin" comes from the root Qof-Dalet-Shin, meaning "sanctified." It reflects the sanctity of the marital relation. However, the root word also connotes something that is set aside for a specific (sacred) purpose, and the ritual of kiddushin sets aside the woman to be the wife of a particular man and no other.

Kiddushin is far more binding than an engagement as we understand the term in modern English; in fact, Rambam speaks of a period of engagement before the kiddushin. Once kiddushin is complete, the woman is legally the wife of the man. The relationship created by kiddushin can only be dissolved by death or divorce. However, the spouses do not live together at the time of the kiddushin, and the mutual obligations created by the marital relationship do not take effect until the nisuin is complete.

The nisuin (from a word meaning "elevation") completes the process of marriage. The husband brings the wife into his home and they begin their married life together.

In the past, the kiddushin and nisuin would routinely occur as much as a year apart. During that time, the husband would prepare a home for the new family. There was always a risk that during this long period of separation, the woman would discover that she wanted to marry another man, or the man would disappear, leaving the woman in the awkward state of being married but without a husband. Today, the two ceremonies are normally performed together.

Because marriage under Jewish law is essentially a private contractual agreement between a man and a woman, it does not require the presence of a rabbi or any other religious official. It is common, however, for rabbis to officiate, partly in imitation of the Christian practice and partly because the presence of a religious or civil official is required under United States civil law.

As you can see, it is very easy to make a marriage, so the rabbis instituted severe punishments (usually flogging and compelled divorce) where marriage was undertaken without proper planning and solemnity.

There was an asphalt scam going around our county - a guy with a load of "asphalt" would go to an elderly couple and tell them he was finishing up a construction job and had some left over asphalt to sell. He would talk them into letting him pave their driveway for whatever he could get from them - one elderly gentleman wrote a check for $3000! Then he dumped the load in their driveway, spread it around a little and drove away. What he called "asphalt" was really mostly sand and gravel with a little bit of black oil in it to look like asphalt.

There are scam artist of every sort flocking to Florida these days because the weather is warm and it is a good place to camp for the winter - and they scam the people who have retired here out of everything they can in just about every way that they can - promising to paint a house or fix a roof, Bible salesmen, and you name it, they are here.

The two were married right away - they did not waste any time getting married! You might say that it was love at first sight! They did not live together for a few years and wait until they had saved up enough money to pay for a new house or a anything either!

To help you in your studies look up the word fornicate and fornication in your Bible - that is the SIN you are looking for - it has nothing to do with an "appearance of evil" - it is SIN pure and simple.

Ruckman holds many peculiar doctrines and has a proud, cultic attitude that he alone has truths that no one else in church history has known

In bragging up his book The Salient Verses, Mr. Ruckman makes these comments: "If you are able to obtain a copy [of Ruckman's proposed new book] you will have, in your hands, a minimum of 200 advanced revelations that came from the inerrant English text, that were completely overlooked (or ignored) by every major Christian scholar since 90 A.D. This would include all of the modern Bible revisers (1800-1999), all of the faculty members and staffs of every major 'Fundamental' (Conservative and Evangelical) seminary, university, and college in Europe and America since 1500, and every Greek and Hebrew scholar (or teacher) since 1611. ... Actually, if a Bible believer has this work he will have the accumulated knowledge of Cornelius Stam and Ethelbert Bullinger ... Clarence Larkin and C.I. Scofield, Ewing, Osborne, Tilton, and PTL ... Pember, Peters, Gaebelein, Pentecost, Lindsey, Kirban, Rockwood, Webber, and Van Impe ... plus the Puritans, Reformers, major evangelists (Moody, Sunday, Finney, Torrey, Wesley, etc.) and all that ANY Greek and Hebrew scholar ... ever found out--that was SO--in the last 200 years" (Peter Ruckman, Bible Believers' Bulletin, Jan. 1994, pp. 2,4).

In The Unknown Bible, Ruckman claims to hold to 14 "biblical truths" which all other Bible teachers have overlooked. On page 347, Ruckman modestly claims: "Do you realize that in these last two chapters, you have learned a dozen things that were unknown to the greatest Bible teachers in the world? In 2000 years of church history, they haven't even been able to find the passage which dealt with these things we have been talking about."

Some of Ruckman's long-overlooked "biblical truths" include the following:

(1) Angels are thirty-three year old males without wings; and all women in the Church Age will receive thirty-three year old male bodies at the Rapture.

(2) The plan of salvation for Tribulation saints is faith plus works and the plan of salvation in the Millennium is works alone.

(3) When the believer is born again, his soul is literally cut loose from the inside of his fleshly body. (Ruckman takes spiritual circumcision very literally!)

(4) Demons are winged creatures ranging in size from those of flies and mosquitoes to eagles and vultures.

(5) Sexual unions constitute marriage in God's sight.

(6) The soul is an invisible bodily shape. "The problem is the word 'soul,' but since there isn't one pre-millennial, soul-winning, fundamentalist who knows what a soul is (see the entire library of books published by Eerdmans, Baker, Zondervan, and the Sword of the Lord before 1970) ... The soul in the Bible is an invisible BODILY SHAPE. In the Old Testament, the soul is almost synonymous with the body, for it is STUCK TO IT till death" (Ruckman, Problem Texts, p. 145).

(7) The flood mentioned in 2 Peter 3 is not Noah's flood but is one that supposedly occurred at the judgment of the earth, when Satan was cast out of Heaven. He admits that no other Bible teacher has held this view: "Now who could get a message so simple all muddled up? Answer: Every major fundamental Bible scholar and teacher in the United States, without one exception. If you were to ask Henry Morris what the verses refer to he'd say Noah's flood: ditto Harry Rimmer, Clarence Larkin, J. Vernon McGee, Swindle (sic), MacArthur, Bob Jones III ... the Scofield Board of Editors" (Ruckman, The Unknown Bible, p. 67).

(8) "God has ordained on this earth 12 boundaries, with 12 nations, who are destined to leave this earth (transported by angels--Luke 16:22), and populate outer space infinitely and forever, beginning with the 12 constellations that are seen on the earth once every 12 months" (The Unknown Bible, p. 588).

(9) "In eternity, the Christian is in New Jerusalem; he is in his apartment house that is made out of transparent gold, like clear glass. ... He is called out on trips, and these trips take him to Mars, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Uranus, etc. transporting couples into gardens placing them down and saying, 'be fruitful and multiply, and replenish the earth'" (Ibid., p. 592).

(10) "I know they [demons] have to be small. ... there's two little animals that have wings. One's a fly and the other's a mosquito. Know what these things are? They're pictures of demons. THE THINGS HAVE WINGS" (Ruckman, Demons and Christians, Bible Baptist Bookstore, 1976, side 1).

Some Ruckmanites have challenged me to refute the Ruckman doctrines we have cited. I don't have to refute them; they are self refuting for the simple fact that they have no biblical authority, just as Rome's dogmas of purgatory and the ascension of Mary are self refuting. Why should we have to refute nonsense? The Bible instructs us to avoid the foolish and unlearned questions of heretics (2 Tim. 2:23; Titus 3:9-11), and Ruckman's new doctrines certainly fall into this category.

According to Ruckman the CIA flies space ships developed from technology garnered from aliens after they were permitted to kidnap and eat children. :loco :loco :loco

The last thing any man (or woman for that matter) wants is for someone to try to "change" them. Personally I prefer someone who is already "housebroken" and does not need to be potty trained. Which is why you want to find someone who has grown up in a Christian family, with Christian values - not someone to be "unequally yoked" to. It is so very much harder when one person is saved and is married to another person who is not saved. Only the power of Prayer and God's love can make those types of changes!

I think some men get this all mixed up. They do not fully understand that they are to be the PROVIDERS. My xh was really upset with me when I became sick and had to have surgery and could not work - he felt I was not "carrying my share of the financial burden" - when I was perfectly willing to cut back on our household expenses and live on his salary alone. He felt that it was important for both the husband AND the wife to work! I am by nature a very frugal person. He did not want to live without all the luxuries in life that he felt he was entitled to.

1 Timothy 5:8 But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.

Then there are women who get this verse of scripture all mixed up. They think that they GUIDE everything in the marriage, and not just the house! They want to rule over everything in the family while the husband is out working and slaving away to pay for it all. This causes everything to be out of balance, and is not the way God intended at all, IMHO.

1 Timothy 5:14 I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, guide the house, give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully.

I believe that if men and women are to live together under the bonds of matrimony as God intended, they need to understand how to have balance in their lives - the man is not 100% power and neither is the woman, if they have a wrong attitude about who does what, it causes a great deal of strife. Too much of the world is into the women's lib ideas of women having successful careers and shun the whole idea of staying home and guiding the house, and there are too many men out there think they have to browbeat their wives into submission, even if that includes forcing them out of the house and into the labor force, and causing them to neglect their roles as mothers.

Best thing in the world, in my estimation, would be for some women to literally begin force feeding the husband his spiritual decisions.... Make him make more and more decisions and when he does, encourage him, reinforce it, demonstrate willingness and even enthusiasm over it. Men, many of them at least, unfortunately require more maintenance than the box indicates before you buy one.

I hate to say this PAstor Harrison, but what you are describing sounds a little like potty-training! Maybe young wives ought to spend time teaching their husbands how to take their proper roles as the Head of their House. Unfortuantaely sometimes the "worldly pattern" is too deeply ingrained for the husband to allow himself to be trained - so then much prayer is also needed!

I do not believe that God prefers one form of Government over another. Government is a human institution, not a divine insitution. Had it not been for the Fall of humans from the Garden of Eden, we would probably have lived quite nicely without ANY form of government, other than what God set forth for us.

The United States was founded by people who were seeking freedom from religious persecution - they did not come here to look for gold or the spread of paganism in the same manner as the Spanish Conquistadores who conquered the West Indies and Sounth and Middle America. The settlements and colonies were based on religious democracy - just like we have in Baptist Churches today - as an experiment. There had not been such a form of government before that - it developed simply as the way the small congregations chose to govern themselves. As long as they conducted themselves in a Christ Following manner, I believe God blessed this country and allowed it to grow. (Although there is a VERY DARK side to history - it still is not nearly as horrifying as what happened to other parts of this continent that was conquered by other European countries.) That this country became an Independent nation at all is nothing short of a miracle.

Economic Freedom or Socialist Intervention?

The freedom to fail is an essential part of freedom. Government- provided financial security necessitates relinquishing the very essence of freedom. Last week, the big 3 American automakers came back to Capitol Hill with their hands out to the government. Congress spent this past week debating how much money to give them and what strings should be attached. Though the bailout plan for the auto industry has suffered what I would call a temporary setback in the Senate, other avenues for public funding are being explored through the Federal Reserve and the Treasury Department. I am afraid the American auto industry will soon learn that having billions rain down from Washington will not be the blessing one might expect.

The government, after it subsidizes an industry, tends to become a very demanding benefactor. Politicians may not have any real idea about how to build a car, run a bank, educate a child, heal the sick or build a road, but they are quite adept at using carrots and sticks to manipulate and threaten those who do. Most of the federal control over education, roads, healthcare, and now banking and soon auto manufacturing, is done through money, mandates and conditions. The bailout proposal we were considering would force automobile manufacturers to submit their business plans for the approval of a new federal "car czar." This bureaucrat would have the authority to approve the automakers? restructuring plan, monitor implementation of the plan, and even stop certain transactions he determines are inconsistent with the companies? long-term viability.

One could argue that if billions of taxpayer dollars are going to flow into a failing industry, then representatives of those taxpayers have "bought" a say in how that industry is run ? which is precisely why bailouts are such a bad idea for both the industry and the taxpayers. The federal government has neither the competence nor the Constitutional authority to tell private companies, such as automakers, how to run their businesses. I would have thought that failed experiments with central planning and government control of business that caused so much harm in the last century would have taught my colleagues the folly of making businesses obey politicians and bureaucrats instead of heeding the wishes of consumers, employees, and stockholders. But the auto industry is in danger of learning for themselves one of the oldest lessons in politics: he who pays the fiddler calls the tune.

It is not the job of government to sustain business. The government should get out of the way, and instead examine excessive regulations, tax policy and red tape that have been hostile to manufacturing in this country. We should get back on a sustainable economic course in this country, or we are doomed to collapse, as the Soviets did, under the crushing burden of big government and a strangled economy that can no longer pay for it.
