  1. It's possible, using Facebook Connect, to allow current accounts here, to be linke dto their Facebook accounts. This would allow those of use that had accounts before you began allowing FB login, to link up, them log in via Facebook. I added this functionality to a project I'm working on so I can go through some of the coding if you need it.

Since I'm not linked to FB through this site, I don't know, but is it allowed to have messages posted here, noted as a FB update on the member's FB account? If not, that would be a good idea, because it would cross promote this site to member's friends.

  2. Worship style is one of the 4 big reasons for differing denominations. Some people prefer a more lively worship, some prefer a quiet, some like a lot fo structure and "liturgy". I don't see how there's anything wrong with any of them, as long as it's a means to the end of worshipping God and focusing on Him, and not just a way to achieve an emotional buzz.

One danger comes from assuming your method of worship is superior, and e=other are wrong by not doing it the way you prefer.

  3. I can't post on the IFB forum so I'll post a new topic.

The Blue Letter Bible has Strong's numbering for every word in the Bible. Links show every use of a given word, & how it is translated.

the definitions are given, together with the usage, so we do not have to rely on dictionary definitions.

e.g. Hbr 2:10 For it became him, for whom [are] all things, and by whom [are] all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.

    ¶ For 1063 it became 4241 him 846, for 1223 whom 3739 [are] all things 3956, and 2532 by 1223 whom 3739 [are] all things 3956, in bringing 71 many 4183 sons 5207 unto 1519 glory 1391, to make 5048 0 the captain 747 of their 846 salvation 4991 perfect 5048 through 1223 sufferings 3804.

Strong's Number G747 matches the Greek ἀρχηγός (archēgos), which occurs 4 times in 4 verses in the Greek concordance of the KJV

    1) the chief leader, prince
    a) of Christ
    2) one that takes the lead in any thing and thus affords an example, a predecessor in a matter, pioneer
    3) the author

    AV — prince 2, captain 1, author 1

So does the Bible on this site http://www.onlinebaptist.com/KJV, which is powered by http://phpAv.com, which is powered by http://phpBible.com, all of which have both Strong's and the Internet Public Domain Lexicon.
  4. It just occurred to me today that the links to http://phpBible.org were too long for facebook and twitter. I needed a way to post shorter links. I got the domain this morning, set it up at my rackspacecloud account, a wrote a script to interprit shorter urls into a forward to phpBible. Then, tonight, I added the reverse lin to the bottom of the pages at phpBible.

Try it out http://KJav.us/joh_3_16 will take you to John 3:16

  5. My son got it on his computer. We wiped the drive and re=installed the system, and made two separate account, an admin that only I have access to, and a limited user account for him to use. That keep it from happening again.

It infects your computer after tricking you into allowing it to. Anti-virus is of no use if you give the malware permnission to infect your computer. The best bet is to use a limited account for daily use. If a web site tells you your computer is infected then you know it's the bad guys, because in a limited account it can't have permission to infect.

  6. A client who I do work for on occasion, contacted me to see if I'd take over management of a site. The company they were using raised their prices, and they were already out $15,000 on the site, and it didn't work. But before I could get access to it, the company said the bill had to be paid in full. Meanwhile the site didn't work right, and the company was charging $95/hour to fix errors they left in the scripting. By the time the client was able to get everything paid for, they were out $17,000.

This past Friday I was finally given access. I found that the company had hidden the fact that the site was built in Python, not PHP as all the client's pother sites had been built in. I told the client that they'd either have to find someone who could do Python, or let me rebuild the site from scratch. They contacted their other IT guy, who manages many of their other sites, and he agreed with me that it was deceptive for them to use Python, since it's a somewhat obscure language, and that the method they used was even more cryptic and would be almost impossible for even someone familiar with Python to decipher the coding. The company obviously wanted to trap the client there.

So tomorrow I start on a complete rebuild of the site.

The company that did all this advertises itself as a Christian company, and even has links to many churches in their portfolio, but I've never seen such dishonest and deceptive business practices.

I don't know why the company would all of the suddenly start doing stuff like that. The people they're dealing with, so the client tells me, are the same people they've always dealt with, so apparently they either were calling themselves Christian as nothing more than a marketing ploy, or have rationalized cheating people as "normal business"

  7. Do you ever plan on making this an app for the Iphone?

It works an awful lot like an app now. You can save it to the "desktop" as an icon.

But Developing an app for the iphone requires Mac OS 10.5. We have 2 macs, but neither have or have the capacity to have 10.5
  8. First it was the rear-end going out on our van (our only vehicle), which we manage to cover with a temporary loan, but it meant cutting back on expenses. We trimmed our already-tight, grocery list and any other expense we could. But then the van blew an intake cap as well as burst the radiator. With generous help for our church we were able to pay for the repairs and keep going, but other than a smattering of regular clients and a maintenance income from a new client our income was very limited. Linda found a job, that looked promising, but they started cutting the hours after the first two weeks until it paid almost nothing. We both spent hours each day looking for work, but people are cutting back so much there

  9. Danny,

Sorry to hear your woe's. Older wiring will deteriorate, and can cause a short. Praise God for the breaker working, as the alternative is a house fire.

There is no good answer to this. Rip out the walls and start replacing the wiring. When was your house built? You will want to be careful with the rest of the house as, depending on load, the wiring in other areas may be just as bad.
Actually, it's a mobile home, so the walls aren't that easy to get in to. For now we're waiting to see if one of our relatives will volunteer some expertise. Other than that we'll wait until we have enough cash to pay an electrician. We have a business plan in the works for this fall that may pull in a lot of money, so that may solve a lot of problems.

What kind of router do you need? I have access to some used options that would be free.

PM me or email: dwayner79 at gmail dot com
Already got a new one at Wal-Mart. It turns out their cheapest one had the most positive reviews. It's working perfect, and only cost $29.95.
  10. Well, we still haven't solved the problem. We have no electricity in the one bathroom that works, and no overhead light or outlets in half the bedroom. Outlets in one half work, so we have a bedside lamp and our alarm clock (which is good because we wake up to James Dobson/Alistair Begg/J. Vernon McGee which we enjoy)

Actually, since we've had to put off fixing this, we've found it's not as much of an inconvenience as we thought. Primarily I didn't want Linda to get upset, which she does when problems happen. She's taking it okay, and it's actually created a much more relaxed atmosphere in the bedroom, and the kids are enjoying the candlelight in the bathroom.

I'm working out of the living room instead of partially out of the bedroom, and still get the same amount of work done.

Thanks for the prayer. I guess it's been partially answered by the problem turning out to be not as bad of a problem, and in some cases an improvement.

I'll tag this on to this thread rather than starting another...

It looks like our router is dying. We are scraping by financially, and even the cost of a router will be a blow. But I need it for my freelance work, which is pretty much 100% of our income right now. Pray that we'll be able to find a dependable one for a good price.
  11. I hate it that I'm always asking for prayer, but things keep popping up.

When we got home from church Sunday the breaker wad switched off in our bedroom. I switched it on but a few hours later it switched off again. I started unplugging things to see what was doing it, and one lone power strip (with nothing plugged in it) was the culprit (so i thought) I unplugged it, but a short time later the breaker switched off again, and wouldn't switch back on. My wife happened to be there, and tried to "fix" it by shutting of all the breakers on one side. I hadn't realized they were off so I thought half the house was messed up. By the time I'd figured it out I had calls into some relative that are electricians, but they were all busy. Linda took it upon herself to ask the neighbors and one said he'd come by the next day. I finally figured out it was just the one breaker, got the nerve up to take it out, and had Linda go get a replacement since she was heading to town. She caem back right as the neighbir showed up, and rather than be rude, I let him put it in, then he charged us $20 (on top of the cost of the new breaker.)

Our finances are stretched really tight. We had just enough in the bank for groceries, and jobs have been scarce so we don't know when more will come in. So it hurt to have to pay that. But now a few hours later, the breaker switched off again. It seems there's a short somewhere and until we can find it we have no electricity in half our bedroom and none in our bathroom. My relatives have been impossible to get a hold of and even if I were, it looks like it may be a big job that they wouldn't want to tackle.

Pray for us that we can figure out how to solve this and the Lord wold provide the money to pay for the repairs if needed.

  12. Sorry for not replying sooner. Thanks so much for the prayers. We are still getting letters almost every day (one for each kids) reminding us they have no medical coverage--this in spite of a call to the agency where they assured us our kids had been reconfirmed weeks ago. It seems the government bureaucrats couldn't get their act together and can't communicate with each other.

Officially, the kids have coverage, but it looks like it'll take a week before whoever is in charge of sending terse letters will actually be told.

  13. We just got a letter from the state. Our kids were on Sooner Care (the state version of Medicaid) but this time, even though we sent them everything they asked, they claimed we didn't (without specifying what we didn't send) and told us we were rejected. Two of our kids have a serious congenital condition and our income is right at the poverty level for a family our size. Obviously we can't afford the medical care, but for some reason they are giving us a hard time about it. Pray that this mess will be straightened out soon.

  14. The thing is' date=' if the robber was laying on the floor shot in the head, unarmed, unconscious and this man shot him 5 more times, that is a no no, I don't care who you are. That is exactly what seems to have happened on the video. The is nothing right nor honorable about doing such a thing.[/quote']
The robber was laying on the floor, shot. that all that's known for certain. The pharmacist claims he was still armed, still moving, and still trying to kill him. Given all the unknowns, the robber forfeited his life once he pulled the gun on the pharmacist. It's silly to make such a fuss about how many bullets he was killed with, because that's all the fuss is really about.
  15. You cannot know that X will be killing Y at a certain time 4 hours nor 5 days later for you are not like God, all knowing, all seeing, all kinds of things can prevent that from coming about.

And murdering him in a church house, there is nothing right about that. Of course its not proper for a church to put an abortionist in such a position, but I would not expect a Lutheran Church to abide by Bible teachings.

If it allowed him to be a member, it wasn't a church, it was a shameless mockery.

  16. You make some very valid points and I agree the robber (out of view from the camera) may have raised a gun to the store owner. But, after seeing him in the camera putting one in the robber's head and then go after the other one who was at this pointing running away and then come back calming firing that many more shots into the direction of the robber....I think it's going to be 50/50......It depends on if they get a jury from the city or the countryside.

    You obviously don't know Oklahoma.
