  1. It might not have been an intentional lie. Maybe she believed it and was sincere in her beliefs. Maybe your memory of what happened 35 years ago isn't exactly accurate. Maybe this person resented your approach. There have been many a times that I have stated things that I thought were the facts only to find out that they weren't the facts. Does that make me a liar worthy of condemnation? I doubt it. But once I discovered the truth, I set the record straight and apologized for my error.

  6. If the article is still active online then in all fairness to Bro Cloud and to substantiate your statements you should reveal the title and location of such an article. You can make accusations all the day long but without any supporting evidence those accusations become figments of your imagination.
  7. Legacy Five is the writer and producer of I Stand Redeemed. They are billed as a southern gospel group (they were formed from the remnants of the Cathedral Quartet). As a side note, this information comes by searching online not by any personal interest on my part. To answer your question: An old time gospel quartet wouldn't use a rock beat in their music. Legacy Five does use a rock beat. It is my opinion that they are a CCM crossover group. The song "I Stand Redeemed" is a perfect of the CCM style being used by Legacy Five.
  8. I've got one more example of CCM being used by Temple Baptist Church: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bfgjl_HMbow This is a song entitled "There is a Redeemer" by Keith Green. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lQSuTP5OHBE
  9. One more example of CCM being used by Temple Baptist Church: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DbX3X-3XSH4 This is a song entitled "I Stand Redeemed" by Legacy Five. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aTons-Osjgs I know that Legacy Five is promoted as a southern gospel group but you couldn't tell it by this song.

  13. Please read my reply under the "Bible Colleges" thread.
  14. In replying to this thread I am probably asking for stones to be thrown at me. Recently we visited Fairhaven Baptist College in Chesterton, Indiana during their preaching conference. The reason for our visit was because our oldest daughter was interested in attending and we thought we would check it out. For years we thought Fairhaven was the best choice. Now I am not so sure. To explain I will post the content of several emails that I sent them after we got home from our trip: email #1 email #2 email #3 Fairhaven's reply to my 3 emails came in one email:
  15. Whether 2 Corinthians 7:10,11 refers to eternal salvation or personal revival is not the issue here. Both require godly sorrow that will cause one to repent of his/her sins (in other words, he/she has a change of attitude and direction in relation to sinful behavior) which leads to his/her salvation (eternal salvation or personal revival). Verse 11 illustrates in detail the changes in a person's life after he/she has experienced godly sorrow and true repentance. This is why I call these verses the real litmus test for true repentance.
  16. What is the purpose of gambling? Is it not to get rich quick? Some may justify "the thrill of the chase" and others may justify "the entertainment value" but it has its roots in covetousness. I find it odd that the OP is setting lotteries apart from other forms of gambling. Gambling is inherently sinful no matter what form it is. Whether it be lotteries, casinos, the games of chance at carnivals (such as chuck-a-luck), bingo, playing poker in your basement, or even shooting pool at the neighbor's house (when I was a kid we used to flip quarters). It is wicked and ungodly.
  17. Discernment comes as a result of spiritual growth. No spiritual growth = No spiritual discernment.
  18. Here is the real Litmus Test For True Repentance: 2 Corinthians 7:10,11 - "For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death. For behold this selfsame thing, that ye sorrowed after a godly sort, what carefulness it wrought in you, yea, what clearing of yourselves, yea, what indignation, yea, what fear, yea, what vehement desire, yea, what zeal, yea, what revenge! In all things ye have approved yourselves to be clear in this matter."
  19. We have DSL through CenturyLink. The connection is 12 Mbps download and 896 Kbps (.875 Mbps) upload. On speed tests, I generally get 10.32 Mbps download and 768 Kbps (.75 Mbps) upload.
  20. As one pastor pointed out, this incident is not about the fall of a good man but rather it is about the public exposure of a corrupt man who was the leader of a corrupt church. Matthew 7:18 - "A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit." Matthew 12:33 - "Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit." Jack Schaap (obviously evil fruit) is the product of First Baptist Church in Hammond, Indiana (a corrupt tree).
  21. The system will not let me post the link to this article. These are quotes from the SouthTown Star (Chicago Sun Times):
  22. This is the book that I wrote a couple of years ago. I am making it available as a free download and have attached it to this posting. I do plan on adding more material to the book (I feel the need to put in writing my position on the so-called modern hymn movement and also the contemporary direction that Majesty Music is taking). The Day the Music Died.pdf Please note: Online Baptist requires a member to be logged into the system before a download is permitted.
  23. Here is the response that I received from Majesty Music: You can derive your own conclusions from this but I still stand by my original statements.
  24. As stated above, IncrediWorld is the latest Patch the Pirate adventure published by Majesty Music. I sent Majesty Music an email and I will post their response when I receive it. I asked them about the relationship between the Patch the Pirate adventure and the VBS program by Answers in Genesis. It will be interesting to see how they respond.
