  1. I need clarification. The title suggests that you drink wine on a regular basis. So please clarify. Are you a drinker of wine on a regular basis? Or are you an occasional drinker of wine? Or are you a former drinker of wine (meaning that you no longer drink wine)?
  2. How do you know whether or not you are saved? 1. The witness of the Holy Spirit Romans 8:16 2. The presence of the Holy Spirit Romans 8:9 3. The witness of the word of God 1 John 5:9 4. The witness of others 1 John 1:7, 5:8,9 5. The witness within ourselves 1 John 5:10 6. The witness of our own conscience. Romans 2:15 What are these witnesses telling you? 1 John 5:11-13, "And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written un
  3. A little food for thought when it comes to the effectiveness of door-to-door "soul-winning": Any salesman worth his salt can get results. Spiritual results, however, are accomplished through spiritual methods. Back in the summers of 1981 and 1982 I was trained on how to get "results" at the door. The method is akin to high pressure sales. However, the end does not justify the means. Sincerely, Bro Steve Smith brosmith@sonlightchristianradio.com www.sonlightchristianradio.com
  4. I used the word "unbiblical" because the majority of independent fundamental Baptist preachers have this idea that you are sinning if you don't go out knocking on doors. I wouldn't necessarily say that door-to-door "soul winning" is wrong but I do believe that it is a bad substitute for how we are supposed to be witnessing. Another bad substitute is the bus ministry. These things become an end unto themselves. A Christian may have a bad testimony at work or never witness to his neighbours or co-workers. But if he goes out door knocking or works on a bus route then he gets the false assurance t
  5. I may be considered a heretic when I say this but I believe that door-to-door "soul-winning" is a very ineffective method of witnessing (and I might add that it is not Biblical). You heard me right: I believe that there is no Biblical basis for door-to-door "soul-winning." The only verse that even comes close to being a proof-text for it is Acts 20:20 - "And how I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you, but have shewed you, and have taught you publickly, and from house to house," The only problem is that this verse applies to home Bible studies, not to witnessing. Here are the
  6. I will give my response as a personal illustration: I was a Christian school teacher from 1980-1984 and 1987-1990. I taught in the same school both times. In the summer of 1988 the church building (which housed the Christian school) burned down. For the 1988-1989 school year we used the facilities of another church about 10 miles away. In the meantime the church bought land and started the rebuilding process. In the summer of 1989 the church and Christian school moved into the new facilities. The new facilities were heated with an outside wood burning furnace that circulated water thr
  7. Back around the 1st of October we switched to Allo Communications which gives us 50 Mbps download and 50 Mbps upload. This morning I received an email from Allo stating that they increased our speed to 100 Mbps download and 100 Mbps upload. This increase in speed is good through all of 2014 and is Allo's Christmas gift to its customers (in other words there is no charge for the increase in speed). Thank you Lord and thank you Allo. Bro. 8. I have an approved Form 4361 (exemption from Social Security and Medicare taxes on ministerial earnings). I have had this for about 20 years. My question is this: How does Obamacare effect those who already have an approved Form 4361? My reason for asking this is that when I applied for the 4361 exemption I had to agree to the following statement: "I certify that I am conscientiously opposed to, or because of my religious principles I am opposed to, the acceptance (for services I perform as a minister, member of a religious order not under a vow of poverty, or Christian Science practitione

  10. There is a big problem with your analogy and conclusion. Genesis 1:1-5, "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day." Darkness was before light. God created the darkness then he cre
  11. I want to thank everyone for their prayers in this matter. At the crux of the issue is Nathan's determination to live his own life as he sees fit. But he doesn't realize that it has destroyed his Christian testimony. Steve Smith brosmith@pioneerbaptist.org www.pioneerbaptist.org
  12. Our son Nathan is 20 years old, claims to be a Christian, and yet wants to live a worldly life. He was living at home until about 6 months ago and then he decided to move out. Ever since then, his life has been a spiritual shipwreck. The problems began before he moved out but have gotten progessively worse after he moved out. He needs your prayers. 13. I have a son who works at the RU national headquarters in Rockford, Illinois. He and his wife are members of North Love Baptist Church. After seeing first hand what RU has to offer I reject it whole-heartedly. My reasons: #1 - Man-centered teaching. Steve Currington wrote the majority of RU material and it is man-centered not Bible centered (centered around Steve Currington). #2 - Copying the world when it comes to promotions and fund raising (anyone ever heard that at one time they were selling 1 sq inch of Lincoln's Family Farm for $100). #3 - Fraudulent Activities. Each year the
  14. So, the focus of attention becomes Jane Fonda? Yes, she was a traitor to our country. Yes, she should have been tried and found guilty by a military tribunal for her war crimes against humanity and against our soldiers. No, she doesn't deserve to be in the public spotlight. But, the issue here (to me) is not Jane Fonda. The issue to me is the immoral trash that Hollywood is putting out and yet there are many Christians that will watch this filthy garbage either in the movie theater or at home! This movie is rated PG-13 and any real child of God should not even have a desire to see such ungodly
  15. Really now. I would say that the music that is used on their own site proves that you are wrong.
  16. The video is not the original music. Craig Curry is the author of the music. If you want to hear the original music then please visit this web page: http://www.hymntime.com/tch/htm/i/c/o/icouldnt.htm
  17. Frances Havergal wrote many wonderful hymns. However, modern 'artists' like Craig Curry ruin them. If you visit Craig Curry's website then you will discover that his music is anything but godly.
  18. This is an article dated April 16, 2013: http://www.techdirt.com/articles/20130416/08344222725/congress-quickly-quietly-rolls-back-insider-trading-rules-itself.shtml
  19. Paul Chappell may say some good sounding words but actions speak louder than words. The actions of Lancaster Baptist Church and West Coast Baptist College tell me that they don't know what Christ honoring music is. I call it being hypocritical and I will even go further and say that he is deceiving and being deceived. Try listening to their online radio station. Try watching some of their "funny" youth conference videos on youtube. Both are carnal and some of the videos are gross and disgusting.

Now, here is a link to Steven Curtis Chapman singing it (he wrote the song): http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=jy3KgDXQnxA Here is another link: http://wcbc.edu/sites/default/files/media/mp3/As-Bread-that-is-Broken.mp3 Compare with this one: The song is published by Integrity's Hosanna! 21. I have 2 sons that work for our local McDonald's. This debit card business was started last fall. An employee can have a regular bank account and have his/her paycheck directly deposited instead of being put on the debit card. Also, an employee can transfer all of the available funds from the debit card to a regular bank account (there is no transfer fee). In order to withdraw funds from an ATM without being charged a fee the ATM would have to be "in network". The "in network" ATM's have one of these logos: Maestro, Interlink, Allpoint, Plus, or Money Pass. The debit card is a VISA debit card
  22. Serious reply: A PC is highly configurable and doesn't require Windows to operate (although most PCs have Windows). However, a Mac requires an Apple operating system to be present in order to install anything else. In other words, in a Mac the Apple operating system is considered a necessary part of the machine for it to operate. This is one reason why I choose to use PCs.
  23. The Westminster Confession of Faith states: "Elect infants, dying in infancy, are regenerated, and saved by Christ, through the Spirit, who worketh when, and where, and how he pleaseth: so also are all other elect persons who are incapable of being outwardly called by the ministry of the Word." According to the Westminster Confession of Faith: "NON Elect infants, dying in infancy, are NOT regenerated, and NOT saved by Christ, through the Spirit, who worketh when, and where, and how he pleaseth: so also are all other NON elect persons who are incapable of being outwardly called by the minis
  24. We have several things to consider when judging music: #1 - Who does it identify me with? #2 - Do the song writers, musicians, and singers portray godliness? #3 - Is this a psalm, a hymn, or a spiritual song? #4 - Would it be good to listen to the song as it is in its original form? When it comes to these videos, the answers to the questions is: #1 - They identify the church with CCM (because that's what these songs are) #2 - The song writers, musicians, and singers are not portraying godliness (godliness requires a separation from evil) #3 - They are neither psalms, hymns, no
