Now that's just plum nasty!! :barfy:  :frog The only way I eat mashed potatoes is in the form of a tater cake. Mashed potatoes with a little flour added, shaped in the cakes (like a small pancake) and fried (cooked through and browned on both sides).

  2. Sounds like he is tring to cause a division in your church. Also he is disrepecting the office of a Pastor. We had something like this in my Church and finally my Pastor had to take some Men with him and confront the issue. The family wouldn't heed and were finally asked to leave because they wrer causing so much problems. My advise would be to talk with him with some men and tell him he is still welcome to attend but the "attitude" must go or he will be asked to go.

  3. Thanks for the advice TMAC. This homeschooling stuff is all new to me. I never even knew a child that was homeschooled until a few years ago. Abeka defintely sounds the way to go.

btw, you have a beautiful family. Your website is very challenging to my heart. I sure bet that quarter pounder was a dandy. Wish we could email you some burgers!

  4. Thanks PastorJ, I guess what I'm really needing is some encouragement in this area. I do not want my children to go to public school for obvious reasons. The nearest Christian school that I would send my children to is 45 minutes away. My oldest will be in Kindergarten next fall and I know when it comes down to it we will be homeschooling.

I dread the opposition we will get from our families as we will be the first to start homeschooling.

For the majority the few families that I have known have left a bad taste with me when it comes to homeschooling. The children that I have had in and out of SS classes and Wed night classes at church that have been homeschooled have not been able to keep up with the public school children when it comes to spelling, reading, etc. Tennessee requires 4 hours a day and most of the ones I know at church don't even do that. When we do it I want it done right.

I can't help but think that the first few years are critical. If a solid foundation to learn on has been built then everything after that isn't going to be as strong.

  5. My question is for those that homeschool, or will homeschool, or would if they had children...oh well, it's for anybody!

Can you show me Biblically why you homeschool?

I've had 2 people tell me they homeschool because of Deut 6. I just can't seem to understand what they are talking about.

    Looking for some insight.

You know this may be another weed.
I vaguely remember there being a scripture in the law that states if someone is divorced that they could not remarry their former spouse.
He specifically stated a former spouse. It seems to me that if remarriage was totally out of the question that he would have addressed it at all. He would have stated, point blank, there is no remarriage.
I will have to do some research and I will provide the exact scriptures.

Definetly please let me know about this. Never heard nothing like that.
