My little baby girl gave me the best Valentine!! She gave me her first smile! My husband bought me some chocolate. That is about all the time we had. His dad just had open heart surgery yesterday, so we spent most of our evening at the hospital.

Wow that is just crazy. I can't imagine the fraud that would go on today with counter checks. A lot of people are really dishonest these days.

I agree that there are some questions left to be answered. My husband and I are about to have our first child, but we will not be co-sleeping. My mom told me that sometimes she was just too tired to get up and go back to bed, so they co slept with us but not very often. It is interesting that two babies have died in their care. The first one they weren't charged for. I wonder if they would have been charged with this one of the first one had never occurred.

Our church we are attending right now is having normal services in the morning on Christmas day but none in the evening. As far as I know they are having both services on New Years. My in-laws church is having church services earlier on Sunday morning and none in the evening on Christmas. They are having it at ten instead of eleven.

A good way to store gifts in a place where children will not find them?

Wonder how many times though the years children have ransacked the house looking for their Christmas presents? Or just sneaked about & found them keeping quite about it.

My brother was notorious for doing this. My parents couldn't hide a gift from him anywhere. He would always snoop around. I remember playing our new Nintendo game before we even received it as a present because my brother had found it. Of course my parents didn't know we were playing it though.

There is lots of young families out there that are struggling. the cost of living is very high, has gone up tremendously in the last several years.

An example, in 94 we installed a new heat pump on our house, cost, $1100.00, recently our outside unit went out, its costing $1700.00 to replace it. And the main reason things are so high is our government, & the regulations they have placed on us in order to take money from us in order to support their spending habits. And it will only wax worse.

A newly married husband & wife, with a child or 2, trying to get by are having tough times, even if they are conservative with their spending. For many of them it takes every penny they make to pay rent, make house payment, pay water bill, pay electric bill, pay insurance, make a payment on a car in order to be able to get back & forth to work, & of course gas is still sky high, buy clothes, put food on the table.

I remember well how it was in my early days, & its tougher times now than what Linda & I had in our early years.

You are right. Times are not easy. I know that if it weren't for my parents, my husband and I would be having a lot rougher time. When my parents first got married, it wasn't easy for them either. They were on WIC and at one point food stamps. (They got off of them as soon as they could). They told my husband and I that is why they were helping us by stuff for Faith. They understand what it is like to live on a tight budget. God has provided through family and friends with this baby coming. We haven't had to buy very many things ourselves for her. The most expensive thing we will have bought by the time she comes will be around $30. Today my husband's work had a baby shower for us, and I was honestly overwhelmed with how many gifts there were. He said there were ten people in the department he works in, but there were definitely a lot more than ten gifts. My parents church in NE also had a baby shower for us. God has just provided all the way through.

You guys are right though. Sometimes we do become hardened. Sometimes I find myself judging everyone I see with an EBT card, but I shouldn't. Some people actually aren't abusing the system and really do need the help until they can get themselves out of the hole.

BTW...if someone is really looking for a family to help, many times local schools can help you. My parents' church asks the school there what family really needs help and that they can sponsor and buy gifts for.

Yeah it is a bad and sad situation. If the mother wasn't already stabbing her daughter, I think they could have taken other measures. Since she was in the act of already stabbing her though, I think they police were trying to protect the daughter from anymore harm. I think they did the best they could in the situation they were in if all the details in the story are correct.

You are absolutely 100% right and could not be more right about who these people are working for. Sadly there is another version of this song that shows a little girl singing it. I think I may have posted it here before because it is so appalling and distasteful and couldn't believe a little girl is being subjected to such hateful people. Malachi, while God is a just God He is also a loving God. He sent His son Jesus to die on the cross for everyone. I find it funny that they sing "God hates the world and all of its people" when my Bible says For God so LOVED the world... Malachi, whether you are a troll, a hyper Calvinist, a member of WBC, or etc, you really need to examine Scripture. Read it into context without presuppositions of meaning. If you do this, then you will understand who God really is.

Well it is true that some people are aesthetically challenged while others are not. There are men that I find attractive and men that I just find down right aesthetically challenged. My husband and I were talking about this the other day and how some people are just more attractive than others.

Before I even knew this, I thought, "Humm she looks kind of butch." Now I know why. I will admit this story does sound ridiculous. If Herman Cain had an affair with her, it will boggle my mind for a long time.

Hummm...all I have to say is WHAT A MESS. If these allegations aren't true, then whoever is behind this is doing a very good job at smearing Herman Cain's name and campaign. I agree with HC that the timing of these women coming out seems perfect. The first ones come out, and everyone is in an uproar. Everything starts dying down and now everyone is in an uproar again over these most recent allegations. I am still waiting for the evidence.

I try to remember too that what we dress like and our hairstyle often does lump us in with a group. Having long, straggly hair with no bangs in combination with a long skirt, clunky sneakers, and a 20 year old top screams "Church of God" or "Pentecostal"....add a doily and you're Mennonite. NOW...lest anyone be offended...I'm NOT knocking these groups of people! I truly admire and respect their modesty! On the other hand, I don't want people to think I'm Pentecostal or Mennonite (although once or twice someone did associate my skirt with Pentecostal....)

I think its good to have a nice, longer (doesn't have to be super long) feminine conservative hairstyle and nice, modest, conservative but at least a little bit stylish clothing....business casual or whatever..... so that you can look modestly attractive instead of modestly dumpy. People DO judge you by your clothes and your looks. I've seen this in emergency rooms or doctors offices....you get treated MUCH better if you have a bit of makeup and nice dress on than if you drag yourself in with sweat pants and unkept hair (obviously at times in the ER you can't help that...but....).

I had to kind of giggle about the Pentecostal comment. When I worked at Dixie Stampede as a photographer, at first I thought the Pentecostals were IFBs. I soon realized I was wrong and realized the women who wore their hair in a bun, had a skirt on, an out of style shirt, and as you said sneakers were Pentecostals. They had a very distinct look. There is definitely a way to dress that is modestly attractive instead of modestly frumpy.
